Yelp’s Stock Took a Dive. It’s the Beginning of the End. | Eater

"Owned by restaurateur Jay Jerrier, who operates ten pizzerias across Texas (including locations in Dallas, Houston and Austin), this pizzeria chain’s leadership says they rarely consult the review platform—maybe every two to three months—to spot service issues or check guest photos. They report getting more reviews and engagement on Google, Instagram and Twitter, and prefer those channels because they foster dialogue with customers and provide faster, more useful feedback; by contrast, they find the review site reactionary and less effective for community engagement." - Whitney Filloon

Absolutely loved our visit! The waiter was incredibly sweet, polite, and informative. The appetizer was nice and cheesy, and the little candle with the string lights gave the whole evening a romantic touch. Our pizza came out fast, looked amazing, and tasted even better. Service was attentive and quick, overall a wonderful dining experience!

I have been wanting to eat a good Italian pizza for a while now. I am happy mu friend brought me here. I lived the pizza and the cheese bread. Our server was great. Definitely coming back!

Google
Great staff and good food. The pizza was flavorful and everything else tasted great. My biggest gripe is that the pizzas got soggy really fast. You basically have to eat your pizza with a fork here. It does not hold together whatsoever.

ClaireBear

Google
The pizza was delicious and the shrimp scampi was good. Their tiramisu was handmade and delicious. Free parking across the street makes it easy. We will be back. Recommended!

Google
The best pizza in Dallas without a doubt. Had just a pizza and some fried cheese nuggets and it was divine, perfectly baked pizza in a brick wood fired oven, amazing crust, perfect dough flavor, that pizza is made with passion. Drinks were just 2-6$ during happy hour on a weekend. Pizza was 16$ I guess, but on weekdays happy hour margarita pizza is just 10 which is a steal deal for sure. Will definitely bring all my friends and family again here.

Google
This Cane Rosso has a nice date night vibe to its atmosphere. My friend and I wanted to grab something to eat and decided on cane rosso because the service is fast for a brick oven pizza. The pizza did take a few to arrive but because we ordered a ceaser salad we weren’t in a rush for the pizza. Everything was hot, amazing and fresh! The best hint of spices to the pizza that kept me wanting more and the doughy crust was splendid. The service was good but could be better. I was first sat right next to a party when there was more tables available around the room. I asked to be moved and the process was seamless but it did feel weird to be sat next to a large group. We also didn’t get a refill on water till we had to ask when signing our check but other than that a nice place to get pizza.

Google
Cane Rosso is just the best! Food is artfully crafted, service is exactly what one would expect and atmosphere is adaptable to the time of day and the present crowd. I ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza, beau ordered pasta of the month for June— mushroom gnocchi + add on chicken. Flavors are immaculate!

Google
A solid place to go if you’re craving a higher end pizza with some unique flavors and combinations! The staff is great and restaurant can host large groups so it’s a great place to plan a get together! The price range is a little higher but the food is great! I highly recommend the honey bastard pizza and the Crispy Brussels was a delicious appetizer!

Yelp
This place is a so good! Our first time here and the service was wonderful. Elesina was the best and gave us many recommendations with drinks and food. We will definitely be back!!

Katie F.

Yelp
Ellie was our server and she was AMAZING!! She helped us get something that was recently taken off menu. The food was bomb and we def will be returning! Vibes were immaculate and music was poppin.

Yelp
during my visit earlier today, i was lucky to have whitney as my server. she was warm, attentive, and professional. she recommended the cheesy garlic bread, which was absolutely delicious, and the dish of the month, a pasta with marinara sauce and roman bacon, that turned out even better than i expected. her excellent service made the whole experience so enjoyable. if you're dining here, i highly recommend asking for her!
google avatar

JoAnn M.

Yelp
Love the food! Pizzas are great here! Also, great place to dine with friends. Our server was not that great. However, the majority of the time we have great service.

Yelp
Elesina absolutely KILLED it when we came in this evening. It was our first time in and the food was great, energy in the building was high, and it was an overall fantastic dinner. We will be back! Only con is that they were out of Peroni :( my favorite beer!
google avatar

Yelp
Indoor seating is super warm and cozy with the firewood pizza place warming the whole place up. Definitely delicious pizza. Prices are pricy if you don't during happy hr times. Best downtown Carrollton location
google avatar

Yelp
Nice pleasant pizzeria in downtown Carrollton. Food was great, service was okay. It was a slow weeknight so there was plenty of room and easy to park across the street. Kids pizza is a really good size good enough for an adult in my opinion. The salad we ordered was good and they weee shy w the almonds or cranberries. We would definitely come again and maybe try their happy hour options.
google avatar

Megha P.

Yelp
The pizzas here are soooo good! Our server was rly kind and attentive which was so appreciated especially because we came in with a large party. I highly recommend the ladybird pizza for dessert!
google avatar

Travis M.

Yelp
Best pizza place in Carrollton. We always get the mozzarella nuggies. The marinara sauce is extremely dippable. Highly recommend the Brussel sprouts and the honey bastard. This is not your traditional cardboard pizza joint. This is pizza with STRENGTH. Crust, topping ratio, and yum factor is off the charts. Hard to even give a rational comparison or barometer with this kind of high quality pizza game! Best advice I can give is Experience It For Yourself. Huge shout out to Matt. Thank you so very much.

Yelp
Quaint restaurant with lots of seating and a great atmosphere! I love that one can see their wood-burning oven as soon as they walk in. Cane Rosso has a wonderful selection of pizzas and pasta to choose from. They also have a nice drink menu. I personally recommend the spaghetti with marinara and their sangria! Buon appetito!

Yelp
Got a new job and they took us out for a company lunch first day. We went to Cane Rosso which surprisingly, I never been to. They ordered So many various types of pizza and appetizers but I couldn't get a pic of anything really. However, the gluten free pepperoni pizza was delicious and the meat lovers options, idk the name because I didn't order, was delicious as well. They have a hot honey pizza that I enjoyed the flavor of too. We also had an arugula and prosciutto pizza, pesto pizza, and vegetarian option but I didn't get to try any of those. We also got the meatball appetizer and the cheese bites. Both appetizers were 10/10. The meatballs were flavorful and juicy and the cheese bites were perfectly crispy and the cheese pull was legit. Idk why it took me so long to get here but I will be back for more.

Yelp
We love this place and this review is a little late. If you love Neapolitan pizza and you haven't tried this place you are missing out. We love the Carrollton location and visit frequently. Our favorites entrees are the Zoli & Cane Rosso but the basic Emma & Ella are must tries as well. Service is hit or miss; not bad but can be slow sometimes. But trust me the food is still worth it. It's loud so fyi but they have some of the coolest paintings/art work for you to check our while dining.

Yelp
Perfectly located on the Main Street of this little town and steps away from 3 Nations brewery. We decided to go with a white pizza to go. It was a thin crust pizza very flavorful but on the soggy side. Their service was a little strange because we got in and 2 kids at the entrance didn't said a word and told them I wanted a pizza to go, they sent us to the register near the other door. The girl that took our order was great. They have some cool art on their walls and the place is spotless.

Yelp
Cane Rosso is perfectly located at the Star where Cowboys are headquartered. During game day, they have great patio scene to over the game magic. The vie casual sports bar and the food food fired pizzas. We started with few appetizers. They have one of best fried artichokes I have had, tasted almost like calamari. We had garlic bread which is just okay. We ordered several pizzas and pastas. Which were all good. The carbonara was too salty and heavy for me with the pancetta and heavy cream sauce. Service was laid back. They brought in pizzas before we finished our appetizer which was a little annoying as we felt rushed. The star was the desert pizza which is must have at this place filled with Nutella and peanut butter drizzle on a warm pizza dough. What could go wrong.
google avatar

Julia K.

Yelp
This place is a classic wood fire pizza place. They cook the pizza in less than 90 seconds in a 900 degree oven, so the pizza comes out quick and piping hot. I thought the pizza was not bad, but the spinach dip is really where it's at. It's super cheesy and delicious. One pizza should feed two people. It comes with six slices. They have lots of seating indoors as well as an outdoor patio where you can bring your dogs. Service was fairly good as well.

Yelp
Very unfortunate updates ahead. This was our go-to restaurant that always kept us coming back. Went back tonight for dinner though, and was wildly surprised... Not only were there menu changes, but those menu changes have simply removed ingredients from dishes and added them as extra add ons. From the pictures I've provided the portions are smaller, quality is lower, and prices are higher. These seem like conscious decisions that unfortunately will keep us from coming back. Can no longer recommend :(

Yelp
Redeemed. Earlier i went to the Deep Ellum Location but was not pleased. I came to the Carrollton location for a friends birthday, and they redeemed themselves. The cocktail was strong and the pizza was soft, and vegan cheesy! This time i asked for extra sauce which was considered. The only negative was that it did take a really long time to get the waiter to come back to take our order, but the wait was worth it! I will come back to this specific location in the future!

Yelp
Extremely great experience for my first experience at Cane Rosso! Our waiter Ulises was very friendly and well informed about all the options the restaurant has to offer! To anyone who is looking for genuine Italian food in the Dallas area I highly recommend Cane Rosso and ask for Ulises if you want to amplify your dining experience!!
google avatar

Yelp
Bruh they took the spicy chicken penne off the menu hands down the best freaking pasta there! I feel so hurt and betrayed like where else am i going to get that flavor
google avatar

Yelp
We did not get a chance to take pictures but we got so many different meals for a staff lunch the chicken parmigiana was so good and the chicken was so big! The jalapeño pasta was very good. Perfect amount of spice tasted great with the pesto. The fried mozzarella bites could've gotten more cheese inside, but all in all we're very good. The mac & cheese with bacon was very good a little too sweet for my own liking, but the rest of us enjoyed it. Restaurant did not look like we expected it to look, but was very clean and welcoming.

Yelp
Great and unusual piZzas Everything is great in there several times with family and everybody loved it

Yelp
We had a good meal here recently. We sat on the covered patio which was comfortable. The crispy brusselss and cheesy garlic bread were great starters. The pizzas were tasty and the chicken alfredo had great flavor. Service was on the slower side, but they were busy. We had to ask for plates and silverware from the hostess because we couldn't find our server after the appetizers came out. We would come back though because the food was great.

Yelp
I've been to the Deep Ellum location when that was the new hotness and the South Lamar location while living in Austin so I was excited to see that Cane Rosso had a location in downtown Carrollton these days as well. I showed up around happy hour time on a Thursday and the place was pretty slow and service was great as a result. I ended up ordering the PBR Pizza (Pepperoni, Brisket, Onions, housemade mozzarella, house bbq sauce -- Hold the candied jalapeños ~$20) and a Barrel aged old fashioned (~$10 with the $2 happy hour discount). The Old fashioned was a bit off and I think they went a little heavy on the bitters so I wouldn't really recommend it but the pizza is about as good as I remember. This is thin 14" Neapolitan style pizza though, so be prepared to fold your slices or eat it with a fork and knife as it won't have the usual structural integrity you are used to with most styles of pizza. Overall my experience at this Cane Rosso was pretty good but I think the other locations I've been to were a bit more memorable with better drinks. Assuming you like the style of pizza, I still think they are serving up one of the more memorable pizzas I've had in the metroplex. Worth checking out if you have never had it for sure.
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
You can order half and half here if you don't agree with your significant other on what to get. Great service despite it being busy. Great ambiance, they have TVs going on for the latest sports events. Dragon fruit spritz is a must!!!
google avatar

Shefali L.

Yelp
Service was kind of slow. The pizza was okay but what I didn't like was when the staff was touching the pizza with her bare hands. The manager (glasses, dark hair with bleached ends) was touching the pizza to fix them on the plate. I had her seen touching things that were visibly dirty and then touching the food? That is disgusting. I only ate few bites.

Naveed S.

Yelp
The Straight Fire is genuinely one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. I have to give a special shout-out to our server John and the assistant manager Matt. Their level of service was exceptional and really made our dining experience. They went above and beyond what you'd expect from an ordinary restaurant, showing genuine care and attention to ensure we had everything we needed. The kind of service they provided is increasingly rare these days, and it's wonderful to see people who takes such pride in their work. Their attentiveness and professional demeanor truly enhanced our visit and is a major reason we'll be returning.

Yelp
Long one of my favorite Dallas area pizza places, this location continues to deliver with both excellent food and sparkling service. The atmosphere here is casual, as you might expect. I like to sit at the bar because watching the pizzas being made in the spectacular oven is kind of fun. To be honest, there were a couple of little issues with our order coming out wrong, but the management was quick to make corrections, and as usual, there were no glaring issues. I recommend their Saturday and Sunday brunch menu, some fun items and drink specials. Try the Bloody Mary, it is excellent.

Yelp
We've been going here since they opened their doors... I don't know why I haven't posted a review before now. We love this place. The ovens there are the real deal! Their food is great! Gourmet pizza should NEVER be ordered as takeout. Gourmet pizza should ALWAYS be on location. Even though they do well at takeout, gourmet pizza just isn't the same when you get it home... So, just don't. We love all their food... They're the reason we HAVE to have arugula on our pizza now, LOL. I think we've tried every single pizza & enjoyed them all. We each have our favorite... not going to give that away so you can try them all as well! Their Lasagna is divine... it sells out. They took the brussels sprouts appetizer off the menu that I loved, but I totally understand that's probably not a big seller & need to keep with the best options. Cane Rosso is a small Dallas based chain that has survived the pandemic... Not one person or business can be perfect all the time no matter how hard one strives... So, keep in mind that the ovens to cook your pizza is WOOD BURNING & your crust is going to be charred a little. This is GOURMET PIZZA not Dominos. So, give it a try & a little grace for something you're not used to... In other words, don't send the pizza back: the charred parts are supposed to be there. Too bad I've never taken any pictures... Will have to add some the next time we go.

Yelp
Small but awesome food. Ambiance could use a refresher. The food was delicious I tried the Brussels sprouts. So good and of course my husband loved his sweet pizza
google avatar

Harry C.

Yelp
I've been here SO MANY times. Every time family comes to town, they want pizza. So this is the place they want to go. I just don't understand how this place stays in business with TERRIBLE, tasteless pie. Crazy. More proof we live in a simulation.
google avatar

Jared H.

Yelp
Favorite pizza I've had in Dallas. You wan to check it out if you're looking for good pizza. I came with my family and split the Honey Bastard with my brother in law, it has some kick but not super spicy. We started with some focaccia which was fantastic. The salads were good too but I cannot stress they you definitely want to be getting the pizza. Service was excellent with an attentive server who also let us know we should put our order in quickly to beat the web orders but shouldn't have a problem if we were getting pasta. The decor is casual and probably a bit hipster. Shout out to a few of the cool Star Wars art pieces they have having (one is pictured).

Yelp
It was my first time go to this location in downtown Carrollton but I knew they'd satisfy my craving for a plant based pizza and my babe's craving for a carnivorous pizza ! We went mid day which was perfect because it happened to be happy hour. Upon entry the restaurant was not busy at all, we were the only ones there which was kind of nice. Their happy hour special offered 2$ off cocktails and discounts on beer and wine. We both had build your own pizzas, which were very delicious. I enjoyed my pizza although I wish the dough was thicker , but I also understand their style of pizza . My babe enjoyed his pizza but his only wish was that they baked it more, but he also understands their baking style. Our server was very nice and helpful. Overall, we had a great meal and will definitely go back to try other items on the menu.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Ellie was 10/10! So kind and went out of our way to make sure we got to eat our favorite menu item. A great experience.

Karla M.

Yelp
Love this place! Great food and atmosphere and our server Abdoul was friendly, helpful and got our food to us quickly!

Yelp
We went on a Saturday a little close to closing, but we were seated right away, got our drinks pretty quickly, it took a minute to get our order in but the food came out quick! My husband ordered a pizza, half Emma half Jabroni and I ordered the chicken parm. The pizza was wonderful! I love woodfire pizza, the chicken parm was just okay, big portion but wasn't a huge fan of it. The ambiance of this place is pretty nice. It had a wall of painted celebrities that was neat! Our waitress was hard to find but since it was close to closing I knew she was trying to wrap her shift up. But this experience was a 8/10 I hope we get to revisit when we go back into the city.

Yelp
Ulises was phenomenal. I had a great experience consuming my nutrients and lubricating my intestines.

Yelp
I'm a long-time Cane Rosso fan and even though I don't live in the area, the Carrollton location has become my go-to location. - Atmosphere: This location is in the heart of downtown Carrollton. There are quite a few free parking lots in the area, but if they're full, there's plenty of parallel parking alongside the apartments in the neighborhood. The inside is spacious, making it a great place to make a large group reservation. There's also a dog friendly patio with heaters and weather flaps, so it's great place to sit outside even in the cold. You can also order your Cane Rosso to-go online and take it to 3 Nations Brewing nextdoor. - Service: On busy days, sometimes it can take a little time to order, but the good news is the pizzas come out extremely fast. My only other complaint is since I have an unusual name, the majority of time I order online, when I go to pick up my order, they say they don't have an order for me and it takes a while before they find my order. Other than that, service is great! - Food/Drink: I love the Capra 2.0 salad as a starter. Hard to beat a salad with dried cherries! The classic starters are great, like the crispy brussels and fried nuggz. Pizza-wise, the Honey Bastard is a must for the combo of bacon marmalade and habanero honey. Otherwise, I love the Zoli, Proscuitto and Arugula, and Truff Daddy. They have great monthly pizza specials as well. Cane Rosso has plenty of vegetarian options, vegan cheese, and gluten free dough, making it a place where anyone can dine. Definitely save room for dessert as the tiramisu and dessert pizzas are great! I love that Cane Rosso has a good selection of local beers on tap and a nice price range of good wines. - Value: Pizzas range from $17-20 and are six slices per pie. I typically eat 2-3 slices so Cane Rosso is more expensive than a typical pizza chain, but the flavor and quality make the price worth it.

Yelp
We ordered pick up from here and took next door to the brewery. The pizzas were good, keeping in mind the crust is thin and soggy so don't load it with toppings. The focaccia bread was basically a dry whole pizza dough. It was not cut at all so it was very difficult to eat, considering no silverware were provided either. It would've tasted good with a dipping sauce of some kind. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, it is just convenient due to location and proximity to the brewery. They could definitely stand to be more mindful of pickup orders.

Leighton G.

Yelp
I brought my niece in for a Christmas date night before a concert! Our entire experience was excellent. The hosts greeted us as soon as we walked in, had our table ready, and asked where we were going all dressed up. Elesina was our server, she was prompt and accommodating, always anticipating what we needed next. The speed of service was on point. Food was excellent (as usual). We were able to get in and out within the hour. As we were walking out the hosts remembered that we were going to a concert and told us to have a good time! It always feels like we are family when we come in!! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Five stars of this amazing restaurant very clean services is amazing and the food is spectacular. Highly recommend the pepperoni pizza. Unbelievable. Cook to perfection. Will definitely be back with a part

Yelp
Came here and didn't know it's happy hour so we thought we'd order from the happy hour menu. So we got the Emma. Our. Men enjoyed it very much--can't go wrong with sausage pizza. The CBF pizza was also very tasty. Now the Voodoo Mama Juju was disappointing; it seemed like it was not seasoned, it's very bland. It looked good on the menu, I mean spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, bell peppers, pesto and mozzarella--come on, it sounded really good right? WRONG! So I will not recommend this unless they make changes to it and make it more zing! For dessert we ordered a small Bella Mela, this was bomb! Not too sweet but refreshing. Their beer, the Peroni was also good. We also ordered to-go, their Friday & Saturday night special: Brisket Lasagna Bolognese. Now this is top notch! This is highly recommended, try it next time when you go there on a Friday or Saturday night because this is very limited, when it's gone, it's gone. Ambience was cozy. There weren't much customers when we came at 5 pm on a Friday night but in a few minutes time it got packed. Service was tops. This young man Kenny was very pleasant, attentive and made recommendations. We'd love to go back and try their pastas.

Yelp
The best!!!! For apps we got the fried artichokes and the cherry/cheese/bread - I could live on this combination! Also Ordered margherita pizza and pepperoni - the pizza dough is so thin and crispy. Service was wonderful. Great happy hour prices. The atmosphere was chill and just perfect.

Yelp
I'm an over the road truck driver I'm parked close by I'm back here to have pizza again Great tasting pizza wood fire pizza oven Lots of toppings to choose from Try this Italian restaurant You'll like it. You'll be back too

Yelp
We were a big group of 24 people and only 1 waiter was serving us. It took a long time ... The pizza was good.

Yelp
We love Cane Rosso and have been here (yelp tells me) more than 27 times. The service is always fast and friendly and the pizza and appetizers are amazing. We especially loved their pizza happy hour specials and were disappointed to find out they dropped our favorites and raised the price of the one pizza standing this week. I get cost cutting, but Cane Rosso, bring the pizza happy hour (Emma and Ella) deals back!!!

Yelp
This place never disappoints! Staff and food is consistently fantastic! We started with their versions of cheese sticks which were fantastic. Make sure to eat them when they are hot! Salads were great and a must is their Honey Bastard pizza! The right balance of flavors! My little loved the kids cheese pizza and very rare, he enabled it! Sangria is good as well, but try to go next door after to Three Nations Brewery for after dinner fun! All in all...great experience!
