Delicious chocolate pistachio croissants! I got mine heated up and it was perfect. The quality of the chocolate just really stands out to me. Staff are very nice and there’s plenty of room to sit inside there.

Stopped here during a day trip to Ann Arbor and it was delightful. Food tasted just as good as it looks. Loved the outside seating. Staff were attentive. Lots of people on laptops for what looks like school and work on a weekday. Would recommend!

Canelle in Ann Arbor is fantastic. The pastries are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made, with a perfect balance of sweetness. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. A must visit French bakery in Ann Arbor.

We stumbled across this lovely shop while visiting Ann Arbor and decided to try it. The service here was wonderful and the pastries show a lot of skill and creativity. It's so good, I got a little emotional over my raspberry and pistachio tart. The Moo cake was surprisingly delicious and perfectly crafted. I want to sample all of their creations.

Recommended by family to stop by and we were not disappointed! We actually went here twice in the one afternoon we spent in Ann Arbor. In the morning, I got their hazelnut iced latte (yum!!!!) and then after lunch I got their pastries as a desert with a glass of rose. Highly recommend checking out!

Great French bakery! Just looking at the variety of pastries you can imagine their flavors. We went there for breakfast and again later for some cakes. The croissants were good but a little pricey. We tried different pastries and the flavors were all good, not exceptional. I was expecting a little more while some combinations were not as appealing as they looked. Still, a very unique pastry shop compared to the others.

Such a waste of my money. I’ve gotten an almond croissant each time I’ve gone, which has been twice now. It’s my mistake that I ordered it again because I remember it being bad the first time I got it. I was silly to get it again because it was just as bad. You can only eat the top half of the croissant because the other half is doughy and gross (as shown in picture). Wish I didn’t get this and will probably not be back. The chai was good but not good enough for me to give the spot a good review. Such a disappointment because the ambiance in the cafe is nice and the staff were nice.

The pastries here are amazing. They have the viral fruit mousse cakes, beautiful eclairs, and classic croissants and danishes amongst many more options. They do have sandwich and salad options as well. The drinks are good but very pricey for what you get. The ordering process is pretty confusing and staff varies on helpfulness/friendliness, but the pastries are so good you can excuse it.

I love Cannelle so much and I wish I loved closer but it's probably good that I don't. I've visited the downtown Detroit and Ann Arbor locations and they're both wonderful. We visited the Ann Arbor location last Saturday for after-dinner dessert and to buy breakfast treats for the next day. The service was friendly, helpful, and quick. I love that the Ann Arbor location has turned their street parking into the most precious cafe seating. We loved being able to enjoy our delicious desserts and the beautiful fall weather. My mom, sister, and I shared the Pistachio Raspberry Tart, Lemon Tart, and Plateau Chocolat, and we enjoyed them all. The two tarts were our favorites! The Plateau Chocolat is very rich. We ordered the Sesame Feta croissant, Ham and Asiago croissant, and Berry Delicious for the next morning and they bagged them for us. We were so bummed the next morning when we opened the bag and the Ham and Asiago croissant was missing because we wanted to try it. We still loved the other croissants and we'll be back the next time we're in Michigan!

Stopped in on a chilly Saturday afternoon for a coffee. It was very busy, bright, loud but incredibly fast service and we managed to find seats. Tons of yummy choices! Pistachio Latte for me and Chicken Sandwich for the kiddo. Yum.

There is a lot to love about Cannelle, but there are a few things that just do not quite measure up to their obviously high standards of quality. It's clear that a lot of thought, care, love, and passion has gone into this shop. The ambiance is elegant without being stuffy. And who would not love a beautiful place to sit, enjoy a gorgeous pastry, and just take a moment or twelve for a bit of much needed self care? The layout of the place is a bit tricky, because if you walk in the door and approach the counter to place an order, you will have missed out on peeping the glorious pastry case around the right side of the counter. Pro tip: Check out the pastries first. Take your time. Eat with your eyes. Not everything is quite as amazing as it looks, but trust your gut and your keen sense of observation. For me, the one consistent disappointment in the pastry department has been their macaron. Your milage my vary. I am quite particular when it comes to these delicate treats. I'm also rather particular about my cappuccino. While Canelle has the tools in place to make a good one, the one I was served was tragic. If I were feeling snarky, I might say something like, "The 80s called and wanted their cappuccino back." Those big fat bubbles on the textured milk that crowned the cup I was served harkened back to an earlier era when these coffee drinks were still new and novel. I should have known something was up when I ordered a small cappuccino and was told it would be twelve ounces. Mon dieu! It was tragic. Or, as Alanis Morissette once said, it was "like a black fly in your chardonnay." Reading through other reviews, it seems like the tea service might be the winning option. I'll give it a try the next time I'm in. Although hopefully someone might pick up the slack and get the coffee program in line with the otherwise delightfully high standards of this downtown gem. By the way, the staff are great. There was a much more serious mistake with something else that was ordered at my table, and the offending dish was quickly whisked away and replaced quickly and with a smile. Bravo!

One of my favorite cafes to go to downtown! All of the pastries are so tasty and classy. There is plenty of seating, and I always feel like I can focus better with the French jazz music in the background. There are more seats in the back and also outside.

After my initial review about this place I got a "compliment" from a yelper with a note that EDUCATED me on what Latte is Thanks so much BUT Wikipedia says [Latte[a] (/lte, læte/)[1][2] or caffè latte (Italian: [kaff llatte]),[3][4] also known as caffè e latte, caffellatte, or caffelatte, is a coffee drink of Italian origin made with espresso and steamed milk, traditionally served in a glass. In America I have never walked into a cafe expecting a menu that says "Latte" and they only expect them to give you MILK. It's not Italy nor italian cafe. It's French btw. ALSO lets say if pistachio syrup + Milk is Latte. Those two ingredients for $7+ i don't know if that's okay too? Anyways THIS is my review so stop sending me passive aggressive messages trying to educate me in italian :) I love Cannelle but i stand by my review for this location, two stars for what i enjoyed, and lost three stars on customer service price and taste of their coffee in THIS particular location. My initial encounter with their good espresso was in a different location in Detroit.

Over the last 2+ years, I've ordered several large sheet cakes from Cannelle for events. This review is about these experiences, which have been very positive. I recommend Cannelle for special event cake orders in Ann Arbor. The ordering and pick-up processes has always always gone seamlessly, and the staff has always been very helpful. I've always ordered over the phone, and they only require a few days' advance notice. Although the cakes are pricey (as of my most recent order, a full sheet cake was $213.20), they're actually cheaper than Zingerman's Bakehouse---I found this surprising. The cakes are always beautifully decorated. Some of the cake flavors I recommend are (in descending order): -Fraisier - vanilla cake, strawberries, and cream. -Chocolate Raspberry - chocolate mousse, raspberry cream, raspberry coulis, and chocolate cake. -Chocolate Croquant - it's very rich and dense, like a Ferrero Rocher. It has both chocolate mousse and a crunchy chocolate nut layer. -Raspberry Pistachio Macaron - two layers of macaron shell, with pistachio cream mousseline and raspberries in the middle. -Seasonal tarts - the flavors rotate and are always fun to try. I think the chef changes the cake recipes periodically. E.g., a few months ago the chocolate raspberry was very sweet, but in my most recent order it was more balanced; a previous version of the tiramisu was less chocolatey than the current version. Other cakes I've tried are the Chocolate Strawberry Cake (the chocolate raspberry is better), Mille-Feuille (mostly custard with 2 layers of puff pastry), Lemon Raspberry Cake (texture wasn't my favorite), and Tiramisu (very rich, very heavy on the cocoa and chocolate). The cakes are definitely on the richer and sweeter side; for lighter cake options, I would recommend Yoon's Bakery instead. I don't recommend their viennoiseries; I would stick to the cakes instead. I haven't tried many of their individual pastries, but these come in a wider selection and many of them appear to rotate seasonally. Although the quality doesn't compare to that of bakeries in larger cities, they're a good option for Ann Arbor.

The shop had a lovely and wide selection of pastries, including tarts, cakes, and savory bread. Of course I had to try almost everything and had thoughts! The tart with pistachio cream and raspberry was by far my favorite. It was recommended by the worker who was packaging the pastries and I'm so glad I tried it. If you like pistachio flavor, this smooth and sweet cream is a dreamy one. The addition of raspberries gave it a slight tartness and the crust was slightly crumbly. The mixed fruit tart was also very refreshing after a heavy meal! I liked how it included fruits you don't normally find on tarts such as dragonfruit, mango, and grapes. It gave it a tropical feel and was not overly sweet! My next favorite was the chocolate croquant. It looks like a layered chocolate cake but it has a crunchy layer to it that was so unexpected and wonderful! Highly recommend for the chocolate lovers out there. The raspberry tart and other pasties were good but not anything unexpected. Overall, I don't think you could go wrong with any of these freshly baked treats! There's plenty of seating indoors and very cute tables outdoors as well. Would be a great place to stop by while exploring East Washington Street!

Excellent pastries! They have so many different types of sweet and savory croissants, as well as a whole variety of sweet cakes and treats. My favorites are their chocolate pistachio croissant and their ham and cheese croissant. This location also has really good (and big) looking breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Fun coffee options and flavored coffee drinks, but I mostly prefer to get tea when I'm here to pair with and cut down the sweetness of the pastries. Different kinds of seating options inside, for different vibes. Tables, booths, and more loungey chairs. Friendly service! Drinks and food are served to your table after you order at the counter.

We found ourselves downtown and had to pop in for some tasty croissants to take back home. The service and ambiance were bright and pleasant. I drool over their beautiful displays of culinary artistry!

Have stopped in for a quick bite and sweet treat. Never disappointed. Could stand to be a tad cheaper. But it is what it is.

OK- this place is beyond infuritaing. The pastries are epic, and I buy them weekly. BUT I am sitting here with a black cup of coffee having a conversation for the 10th time about being charged 1.25 for cream. For CREAM. In my coffee. I just paid 10.00 for 1 pastry and she's arguing with me about cream. And - oh the signs all over the place. The booth - SIGN. Reserved for large parties only. OK so I'll sit at a small table. Nope. You can only sit there for an hour. That's what the sign says! And nasty eyeballs from the staff when I was sitting in a nearly empty space. I'm not coming here anymore without 7-11 creamers for god's sake - If I come back at all. Come here if you want to pick up a pastry to go, only like black coffee, don't want to sit for long and oh- maybe they'll charge for the bathroom toilet paper soon. This place is just plain rude. It's a shame.

Beautiful, calming lots of fantastic pastries. I don't know why people are whining about the coffee, I just had a fantastic cappuccino. It's always hard finding parking around here, but there a parking structure across the street if you can't find a place.

This is the third Cannelle location I have visited. Each location has a different feel, and this Ann Arbor location is no different. I had to try the cinnamon roll, and it was excellent, nice and cinamony rolled in Cannelle's flaky layers. Very yummy. The coffee was served in a mug. It is pretty dark (as expected at a French cafe). The service was friendly. They offered a coffee mug, and to warm the roll (yes, please). A high open ceiling with darker wood and white tile floor. Lots of natural light.There are various seating for a bit of work, meeting someone, having a bite to eat, or a reading a book. It is easy to miss the location on Washington street with the small sign.

Stunning patisserie which is crowded, and rightly so! The creations are beautiful and equally delicious. I got 2croissants: pistachio and za'atar. They were perfect. I will definitely return to try such intriguing delights as the pacman.

Love the pastries - gorgeous. Good salads too. Cute interior with clean bathrooms. Can get busy and crowded but lovely place to sit and read.

I have found, having been to 3 other Cannelle locations, including one in the Great Commoner, that the food experience depends on what is ordered. I am just not a fan of the Viennoiseries here and today was no different. While the shop offered an impressive variety of both savory (butter, spinach/leek, feta/tomato, za'atar) and sweet (almond, chocolate) baked goods, I have not found one that works for me. Today, I had the large sugar-coated croissant (kouign amann?) but it was not as flaky as I would have liked. I don't think I've had many good croissants from any of the other Cannelle locations either. The pastries are so much better - and I should know since I've tried many of the creations from the Cannelle shop (in downtown Detroit). Today, I had to have the peach tart, before peach season comes to a close. I liked the sable crust filled with peaches and pastry cream and topped with cream and fresh peach slices. I was a bit disappointed that the pastry had broken apart, although it had not gotten soggy yet. Service was fine. The location was very busy for a Sunday during the summer. The weather was not great but the place was standing-room only inside and out.

Outstanding as usual. Exceptional pastries and lovely staff. Don't be put off by the construction. They are still open for business. Checkout their holiday specials or their small options for breakfast and lunch. Salads, sandwiches and coffee. I had a sample of the almond croissant while waiting in line. I will be back for more. Today was a double espresso shot with an olive and goat cheese croissant. Perfectly savory without being too salty. The espresso was rich but nicely cut the fat on the palate from the croissant. Very popular for a Tuesday late morning.

This cafe is the only place I've found that comes close to being in the heart of Italy or the cafes of Paris. I will literally book a flight to Europe just to get my croissant fix, so having a place closer to home... my husband thanks you. LOL! Seriously some good pastries and coffee. I've had the pistachio latte and a cappuccino and both very tasty. My son had the Nutella stuffed croissant and said it was the best thing ever. He even went back inside to thank the staff and tell them how good it was. The next week he asked to come back to show daddy and brother. The aesthetic inside is to die for. Great for studying, reading, catching up with friends. I always choose outside on a nice day, but inside is gorgeous. Note: prices are steep... but I promise it's for a good reason. My son said he would have paid $12 for his croissant from his own piggy! My new go to!

If you read nothing else, I would say go here. It's worth popping into at least, because it has some gorgeous pastries. I only tried a few, but everything was good enough to get again for me. I love the unique combinations and offerings, I was so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint! The ambiance is pretty cute, you can go and sit down if there's seating, though it was quite busy. They went out of their way to make sure we found a place to sit which was nice! Food was delivered to the table and we got recommendations from the lady we checked out with, so it was a great experience overall. Check it out!

Staff is consistently rude. Food is always great. Do bread substitutions.. it makes no sense that you don't. Coffee is below average as well. But all the pastries and desserts are amazing.

This is my first time coming to this bakery/cafe. There was plenty of seating with many available outlets making it an excellent place to work. The coffee was delicious. I ordered a latte with oat milk so there are non-milk options which also includes almond milk. It was fairly quiet, so it was good for having a conversationconversations with a friend. Service was quick, and they delivered my coffee and fruit tart to the table. There was a parking garage across the street with plenty of spaces. It was still easy to get to the café despite the ongoing construction. I will definitely visit again with my laptop.

My favorite bakery in Ann Arbor. Every time I'm in town will definitely stop by to get some bread and pastries. So delicious. If I have time, I stay awhile and enjoy a coffee on site. Its always busy but so far have been able to get a seat every time. The pastries are to die for. Just look at the pictures. Yum.

Very good bakery. I stopped in for breakfast on a cool summer morning. The room is clean and beautiful with marble counters, white tiles, wood panels. The variety of baked goods is amazing - hard to choose. My almond croissant was tasty but the outside wasn't crisp. The cinnamon roll was breast and nice. My latte was delicious. The service was excellent.

Was looking for a sweet treat after dinner. Their pastries were very appetizing. There's a lot of selections. It's a great spot to study, chill, or needed something sweet!

I love the Detroit location and we'll go out of my way to make a stop there, truly world class pastry. Quality control at the Ann Arbor store need some serious attention unfortunately. Two different kinds of croissant, nearly raw they were so undercooked and not flaky at all. Something was clearly wrong with the bake because they were really flat as well. Not sure why they put these out to Cell, and they certainly were a full price. $15 for two flat, nearly wet and undercooked, pastries, what a shame. I won't be back.

I always come back to Cannelle, I have to say they have hands down the best dessert cake in Ann arbor. I've tried alot of their cakes and pastries but my all time favourite is the pistachio tart, pistachio macaron and the strawberry shortcake wrapped in strawberry chocolate and chocolate chip cookie The presentation is absolutely gorgeous, the interior seating in the front of the house is very aesthetic and pleasing. They recently had outdoor seating options for summer, so can't wait to have iced lattes and pastries and cakes. The customer service is also top notch, very pleasant host and front of house and offer to bring your coffee and desserts to your seat.

Delightful patisserie in the heart of Ann Arbor. Strong coffee and a wide selection of pastries and breakfast/brunch food make this perfect for a little get-together with friends or a solo date. You order your food and drinks and then they bring the drinks or food that needs to prepared out to you. The couple times I have been there it seems like you are supposed to leave your dishes on the table and then they will come get them. Otherwise, if there is an open table that hasn't been cleaned I put them on the counter by the water so I can take that table.

Love the croissants here. The tomato feta basil and almond ones are amazing. I'm not much of a fan of other French pastries, so cannot comment on that. I tried one of the breakfast sandwiches which had extremely overcooked crumbly scrambled eggs that had a very strong tumeric flavor. Very nice ambience and decor.

Really great post-game oasis with excellent coffee and fantastic pastries / snacks. Had the salmon toast, really perfect with capers, cucumbers and toast. Tarts / croissants were also good and A+ for the Americano. Friendly staff and a good counter-service model. Appreciate the new location.

The staff is so kind. The interior is warm and comforting. The pastries remind me of France. It's probably the closest I have had to French pastries outside of France. I was in the area for 4 days and showed up 3 times. I absolutely love it. I brought some home and my wife enjoyed it very much. If you haven't gone, you need to go.

I loved this place. The choices were amazing. I love the coffee selections. I bookmarked this place so I don't forget to come back next time.

The cafe itself is incredibly cute and a total vibe to hang out in! Unfortunately I just had a take out order from the pastry case so I didn't stay long. The pastries themselves are gorgeous and so cute, and ring up at around $8 a piece. I ordered 3 and really enjoyed 2 out of the 3 pastries I got, which was the fraisier, and the lemon raspberry cake. The dasher however, was very dry and hard and I wouldn't get it again. I would be willing to come back and try more though!

Where to begin! Just go!!! If you love amazing patisserie and viennoiserie really go. Thé café is a delight for the eyes first with beautiful displays of all things delicious from flaky croissants of every flavor to intricate cakes, tarts ,eclairs and macarons. The staff is friendly and helpful while giving you to opportunity to browse the selection. Cannelle offers ample inside seating and even outside options. Teas, bottle lemonades and all sorts of coffee and espresso beverages as well as light fare like toasts are available as well. Cannelle is not to be missed when you're in the area and is indeed worth the trip if you're not. You won't be disappointed.

Maybe I'm coming at the wrong time of day and the pastries have been sitting out, but of the three times I've been here, I've only really enjoyed what I got once, and I've tried a variety each time. I know a lot of effort and ingredients must go into making these treats, but it's just not worth the cost for me to pay $8 each for a tiny thing only to not really enjoy it. Buyer's remorse.

The location in A2 I found had a better selection that the Detroit location. Great atmosphere, and impeccable service...gracious, accommodating and pleasant.

Absolutely love this cafe. Beautiful desserts and cups of caffeine to help you take a break in your busy day. No one works harder than the employees at cannelle. They have been moving non-stop, since there's always an influx of customers. Very appreciative of their cheerful attitude despite how tired they probably are.

Pastries are great! Don't have the same idea about the coffee. Latte needs to meet some standards, like the texture of the milk foam...

One of the best coffee shops in Ann Arbor (and there are plenty). I have been many times and it has never disappointed. The seating is a bit tight and disjointed in the back, but if you're able to snag a seat, this place is great. The pastries are fresh and delicious and they also offered more prepared foods like breakfast sandwiches and avocado toast. All amazing. It's usually crowded so be prepared to wait if it's the weekend. Worth it though!

So happy that Canelle came to Ann Arbor!! The original in Detroit is a must visit. The AA location is in the Great Commoner coffee shop. Love their breakfast menus, pastries, lattes/coffee and then when you walk around the glass display, a vast amount of colorful and delicious desserts! We got a passion fruit tart and a chocolate hazelnut dessert that one of the employees behind the counter likened to a "Ferraro Rocher" candy. Wow that one was my favorite! Anyway, it is such a treat and if you ever want to take anyone out of town or bring an impressive dessert to a dinner party, this is the place to go!

Best coffee shop in the area and variety of desserts is outstanding! you can find anything from fruit tarts and tartlets to cakes and almond croissants !! all of it is worth trying! all the cream desserts have some fruit filling! the packman is the famous one and it has delicious raspberry filling!! all was super yummy!! always nice ambience inside and outside. and service is nice and friendly! love it

Hands down -- one of the best coffee & pastry shops in Ann Arbor. I love coming here in the morning, spending WAY too much time picking out which type of buttery, flaky croissant I want, and admiring the incredible selection of desserts. Coffee is excellent (I love their seasonal syrups) and the breakfast sandwiches (on a croissant especially) are to die for. I can't wait to stop in again soon when I'm downtown because I'm drooling writing this review!

This bakery is an absolute gem. The food is beautiful and well-executed. I got the pistachio raspberry tart. The crust was amazing-- not soggy at all. And the flavors were great. Service was prompt. They brought out my food within a couple of minutes. The atmosphere ties everything together. There is a variety of seating options including outdoor seating. The interior design was well thought out and improved the overall dining experience.

Delicious French pastries! The macarons and macaron-centric pastries are exceptional. I don't go here frequently, but everything I've tried has been high quality and worth the money. I also love how they have some seasonal pastries (e.g., pistachio macaron Christmas tree) alongside their permanent offerings. Honestly wish I lived closer so that I could stop by more often and try more of their selection.

The space is lovely and the service was good. The range of pastry selections was excellent and each one was delicious. You can end up creating a large bill as everything is tasty but has a large price tag!

Canelle is so good. Every time i'm here i love it! I just tried their iced chai for the first time and it might be the best i've ever had. Not to mention the decadent croissant sandwiches and amazing pastries. This place is awesome

Finally got to try the spot in Ann Arbor! I love that there's now a proper pastry shop here. I've been to the location in Detroit a few times and this one is similar. The space is a lot more spacious and the same great croissants and daily breakfast specials are available. There are a few tables outside for outdoor seating. I imagine this place will get hella busy in a week even college football starts! Parking is convenient either on the street at the meters or in the Washington garage across the street!

Loved my experience today at Cannelle Ann Arbor! Fancy but chill vibes inside. Not very busy. One other person studying while my kids and I occupied the corner circle table. Were served by two very friendly staff members, Claire and Asha. Had the bacon egg and cheese deluxe - croissant is stiff and holds up well even with soft egg and cheese and sauce inside! Def fork and knife ordeal. Iced Cafe Conmiel was refreshing and perfect for the warm summer day per Claire's suggestion!Will definitely be back. Good place to come hang with friends, study, or take a lunch break! Highly recommend!
