Where to Eat and Drink on St. Patrick’s Day in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"If it’s romance you want, maybe don’t pop round here. But if a spot of battered cod or Scotch eggs with a Guinness will do you, come by. This place also stocks over fifty whiskeys, which should be plenty for drinking a night out (or afternoon, if that’s the move). It is in a converted Tudor-style house in Oak Cliff, and the dark, moody interiors are always lit by the glow of TV screens playing sports. Become a regular and land one of the two-person booths in the front, which have windows open wide to the outdoors when the weather is right." - Alaena Hostetter

First time here, service was excellent and atmosphere was great. Staff was fun and very friendly, attentive. Stefanie my bartender was great, very attentive and had recommendations to the menu. I had the Fish and Chips which was absolutely amazing. It was huge! So bring an appetite for sure. Cooked to perfection, flaky, wasn’t soggy or overcooked. Would definitely go back soon!

Google
Nice Irish Pub. They have actual good food and most importantly have great service. One of the bartenders- Stephanie took care of me and she was so personable. Made me feel like a friend right away. She had the whole bar engaged in conversation and made me feel welcome with her regulars even though it was only my second time there. Exactly what I look for in a neighborhood spot. Probably going to make this my bar.

Google
Absolutely love this place, got a friend near by who lives down the street from this place so usually this is our go to spot when I go visit. (Heck I go by myself too!) And seriously you can’t go wrong with the fish N’ chips here. It’s like a signature staple that everyone MUST try! Cooked to perfection! 👌🏼

Google
We absolutely loved this place. The food was delicious (best shepard’s pie I’ve ever had), and the service was awesome. The drinks are strong and the beers are excellent. Definitely coming back here soon!

Google
Great and quick food every time!! So far I’ve ordered pickup twice, both times were stellar with how quick and thorough they were. I get pretty picky about my burgers, and nearly everywhere only offers smashburgers these days, what a breath of fresh air Cannon’s Jameson burger was. I’m not 100% sure but believe it is a 1/3 lb patty. But what I do know is that it was cooked to perfection (medium rare by request) with just the right amount of barbeque and onion straws. Last time I ordered, I got the Shepards Pie and scottish eggs. They’re as close as you can get to the real deal. The shepards pie wasn’t too gamey and you could taste hints of the wine they used to deglaze the pan, absolutely marvelous. The eggs were a first for me but definitely seemed like these guys know what they are doing. When in the area I’ll definitely make it a point to keep coming back to Cannon’s!

Google
Wow! Listen this place is the place to be if you’re craving fish and chips and the drinks are also great. But what I enjoyed most was the service Very nice people made us feel like old friends. Really enjoyed it hope to be back soon. Thank you Cannon’s 💜

Google
I got the fish n chips. It was a extra large portion of fish! It was good, it just needed salt or some seasoning. I sat at the bar and it was a cool atmosphere and vibe. I would go again to try the bangers n mash

Google
I live in Princeton and recently made the trek downtown to visit Cannon's Corner again last Friday night. This was my second experience at this incredible establishment, and it didn’t disappoint. Everything about Cannon’s exceeded my expectations. The food was exceptional, and my bartender, Stephanie, provided outstanding service—she was friendly, professional, and incredibly attentive. Her recommendation of the steak dip sandwich, which was on the menu until it sold out, was absolutely spot-on; it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Despite the long drive to Cannon’s Corner, I will happily return time and time again because both the service and the food are truly exceptional!

Yelp
Sat at the bar enjoyed a couple of drinks and the banana cinnamon rolls. Basically a banana wrapped in a churro with sauces and ice cream. Rich and yummy. Nice atmosphere, the bartender was attentive to our needs. It wasn't crazy busy before a show at the Kessler.

Yelp
My husband and I got up from our post-work nap and realized there was no way I was cooking at 1 AM. Based on reviews and a friend's recommendation, we decided to check out Cannon's Corner Irish Pub--and I was blown away by how good it was, especially for a late-night spot. It's only three minutes from our house, and after this experience, we'll definitely be regulars. The bartenders were friendly and approachable, setting a great vibe right from the start. We started with the duck wings, and they were absolutely delicious. For our main course, we both went with the fish and chips from the late-night menu, and let me tell you--the portions were huge! We're already planning to come back for Super Bowl Sunday and, honestly, any random night of the week. If you're looking for great food and service late at night, this is the place to be!

Yelp
Came in on a Thursday for dinner and drinks before the show at the Kessler. Sat at the bar, while waiting on my date to arrive. Bar tender 1 wouldn't make eye contact. She helped the other guy at the bar, who was sitting two stools away. Sat there for about 5 minutes then decided to move to other side. Manager came out to help with the bar, only 2 people at it, also wouldn't acknowledge I was there. Tried to order but he ignored me. Couple walked in straight to the bar and he took their order. Then grabbed the cups in front of me, from other guest, and went on about his business. Tried again to get his attention, ignored. Another couple came in and he helped them very quickly. I sat at the bar for about 10-15 min trying just to get. Drink and then decided to leave and go to PhD. I usually love going here, but this felt deliberate and just a terrible experience

Yelp
I came here after seeing the a friend post the egg nog flight and knew I needed to try it. I came during lunch time (don't judge me, it's 5 o'clock somewhere) and was surprised that they have lunch specials however I was informed that they were out of the mix however was expecting more later in the day. I called later in the day to confirm they had it before going back and we informed they indeed had it. I arrived at the restaurant and was told to sit anywhere I would like. I took a seat and waited for some time before someone finally came to the table. I placed my order for the flight as well as the cod taco and the boneless wings. I was told that the wings weren't too spicy however upon biting into it, it was entirely too spicy for me. The egg nog flight was okay but I can't say that I would order it again. However the cod taco was absolutely delicious and had me wanting to go back the next day for another one. This is a cute pub that would make a great hang out spot. By the way, the gingerbread was my favorite!

Yelp
Came here for of course, st paddy's day and can't believe i didn't know this place was so close to me. They had a DJ when you entered and a large selection of beers, Irish and from other locations. They had multiple bartenders working that day and i had near no wait to get a drink. It wasn't overly loud even for st paddy's day and i was able to converse easily with my friends i was with. They have an outside patio area as well and seems like a great place to go for spring and summer months

Maria C.

Yelp
Zach was amazing ! My favorite Irish Bar . My go to spot for whiskey Wednesday!!! Must try the wings! So goooood!

Yelp
Phenomenal Irish pub with great eats and one of the best happiest hours you'll find in the DFW Metroplex. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and helpful; and you can expect the regulars to be the same. This is a great go to spot for lunch, dinner, or if you merely want to grab a few drinks during happy hour or later at night. They also have a great setup to watch some sports in the area. I highly recommend that you stop by if you're in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Super friendly, great atmosphere. Great to grab a bite or a drink! Highly recommended

Yelp
My husband and I live in the neighborhood and happened to stop by with friends this past weekend and had a wonderful time, thanks to Zach! We used to be regulars here but due to a lot of turnover we had felt like it has lost some of its neighborhood charm and friendliness, which caused us to frequent less often. This past visit with Zach made us feel like perhaps it's time to return to our weekly stop ins! Zach was so thoughtful and checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed- even when we stay outside away from the hassle and bustle; he was so friendly and worked to really get to know us. The food was delicious and the Guinness pours were perfection. We are eager to return!

Yelp
Found hair in my food rude servers thought we had someone over the limit but instead he was disabled

Yelp
Tried Cannons on October 19th and it was ok. Had the scotch eggs and spicy cheese curds (not pictured) really wanted this place to be what I expected but I guess that's why you don't get your hopes up. Didn't really appreciate how loud it was especially considering how few people were there. I might go back and give it another shot but till then it's just meh.

Khaled K.

Yelp
This place is my new favorite bar! Everything is great: drinks, food, ambiance, games and bartenders of course! Shout out to Zach and Autum!!

Tatum S.

Yelp
Came in after the state fair for a night cap not expecting anything to be better than all the fried food. Sammy quickly made me retract that statement. He made the most amazing espresso martinis & s'mores martini. Crucial to the girls night we were having. Actually ended up doing an interpretive dance for us as well. Cannot recommend cannons enough for a chill environment with a phenomenal bartender!
google avatar

Tom N.

Yelp
Cannons has hands down best fish and chips in Dallas. Bar none. Fresh Guinness and a great staff, top it off.
google avatar

Skyy S.

Yelp
Great service and the food was delicious. I would definitely get the egg rolls and the wings were amazing. The fish and chips were okay. The fish was crispy on the outside but extremely wet on the inside. I would probably skip on that.
google avatar

Ozz J.

Yelp
After multiple visits I feel this place is a hidden gem! The service is genuinely friendly and helpful. The food is super delicious and they pour Guinness picture perfect.

Lee A.

Yelp
I love this place great vibes & drinks. There is an endless amount of whiskey to choose from. Staff is so knowledgeable on what to suggest to what you would like.

Yelp
I've been here four times now, and am thoroughly impressed every single time. I've had the bangers & mash, the fish & chips, the grilled chicken sandwich, the Rodolfo, and everything is really good! The fish & chips is amazing and HUGE. The service is great, and we're remembered (and our drink orders) every time. Drinks...solid pours, and really good specials. Just a wonderful pub where everyone is welcome and equal. Very cool. Definitely want to keep this one in our regular rotation.
google avatar

Yelp
Went in today for lunch. I had the the breakfast sandwich and my boyfriend had the fish chips with the perk of getting one for free. My boyfriend ate his there and we took the other one home. A couple hours later we decided to reheat the other portions only to find plastic or some type of paper wrapped in around the fish once you pulled back the fried. We had to throw the fish and chips away and we'll definitely not be going back this establishment.
google avatar

Dennis D.

Yelp
I love everything about Cannon's. Superb food, authentic atmosphere and great service.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Only getting two stars for the Caesar salads we had. We've been here numerous times over the years, particularly after Cowboys home games, but it'd been several months since our last visit. The service was slow and inattentive. We had to wave at people constantly to get service and our check. Should have suspected the decline when we didn't recognize any staff members. Used to be one of our favorite Irish pubs after Trinity Hall closed, but we're done!!

Yelp
A little gem in Oak Cliff, good people, good food, good atmosphere and Damn good Irish classic Food

Yelp
Ambiance was really nice and is always very chill. I haven't had the food but the drinks are always great. All of the bartenders are super nice and quick.

Yelp
Glad to have a little pub in Oak Cliff - something not like anything else offered in this part of town. It's pretty low key except for the numerous television to watch all of the sports games at once. Sit yourself and as look over the menu you'll notice some Irish favorites, some lesser known in the states like hearty lamb stew. Happy hour specials here are great and have a large selection of imported and domestic beers plus many food options like a pretzel (which is actually 2) with Guinness cheese and mustard. Don't miss out on specials like the BOGO fish and chips on Monday nights. I love this entree and get it almost every time I visit. It's always hot, tasty and crispy. Plus the tartar sauce is nice and tangy against the deep fried filets. Don't forget the malt vinegar and lemons, too! Vegans should also take note of the many vegan and vegetarian options offered here like the Shepard's pie and grilled cheese. Also, a large selection of good looking salads for a pub, which I am a huge fan of. Service has been hot or miss, but the food keeps bringing me back.

Yelp
Great food! Great drinks! The prices on the jukebox are decently priced. Love this place! Not a thing in the menu I didn't like
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
You're in North oak cliff a need a drink and some food, this is a good spot. Good drinks, good food menu, staff is great, vibe is amazing, and it has a neighborhood feel. However, the management/ownership does not know anything about the neighborhood or how to take care of their staff. I feel bad for the staff that worked here or even used to work here. I won't get into specifics but the owners need to let go of the reigns and let the bartenders do their thing. Also, what's the deal with taking away over half of the genres on the jukebox? This screams alienation behavior. The owners want to keep certain people out and they don't care. I respect the effort when they do positive things like revamp the menu but when at the end of the day they treat their staff like trash what really do they represent?

Yelp
This new Irish Pub in the Oak Cliff area is legit!!! It's right off of Davis St. close to Edgefield Ave., which is a perfect location for us. So if I ever have that fish and chips craving, I know where I can get it, which is what I got yesterday evening. I found them on Yelp and just about everything else was closed that I wanted, so I gave them a shot and let me tell you, it was worth it. The fish pieces are very meaty and not overly greasy. You get three pieces per order. I did not have any drinks since it was a take out order, but we will definitely be back to have some drinks, because this Irish bar is serious with their Irish drinks so I have to come strong. I forgot to mention that have a cool little outdoor area for you smokers, since I saw ashtrays on the tables.

Yelp
food was great guiness was as it should be service was excellent the irish breakfast was the way to go for myself

John G.

Yelp
This place is killer. Fresh cod flown in regularly to make epic portions of the best battered fish and chips around. Scotch eggs that make the Londoner's look beginner. Manhattan project makes their signature cannons Irish red, so also a huge plus. Service is standard but friendly. Ambiance is legit pub vibes. I don't live in this neighborhood but stop by every time I have an excuse.

Cathy C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to eat and have a beer! The food is amazing if you like traditional Irish pub food! Bangers and mash, Shepherds pie, fish and chips, and corned beef and cabbage plus many others. And have a Black and tan with it. You don't want to miss this place.

Victoria C.

Yelp
Great custom drinks, had gin drink and it made me sweat, so that's a good sign. nice atmosphere and good food. Lovely experience.

Yelp
Probably my favorite spot in oak cliff for a casual dinner. Food slaps, isn't over priced. I've yet to have anything bad and have almost tried the whole menu. Happy our is seriously a deal. Beers are poured correctly. Will be there in probably an hour.
google avatar

Wendy R.

Yelp
Fun place, they do not have a lot of variety when it comes to Irish Whiskey but the restaurant does look authentic af.
google avatar

Frank S.

Yelp
The atmosphere is an Irish authentic pub. The fish in chips was a great big portion of cod lightly breaded and the Guinness was the perfect pour which the waiter had commented that they calibrate daily. The waiter was attentive and polite he also made recommendations and I would definitely recommend this place!

Michael S.

Yelp
The service was awful, and the tables were unclean. The person behind the bar in particular was a rather unpleasant and irritable individual. I will not be going back.

Yelp
Dinner on a Tuesday evening with 9 friends. Parking is free with limited head-in spaces in front on Davis St. or on west side of the building. Daily specials. Happy Hour reduced prices on some items until 7 pm. $5 bites and more foods like Irish nachos, Irish tacos, fish and chips, boneless chicken wings, and much more on menu. Regular menu items are reasonably priced. Ample spirits, ale, and beer menu. Our server, Gary was attentive, friendly and helpful explaining food and drink specials and details. Food came out quickly and at correct temperature. Team concept assured fast service. All the different dishes the 10 of us had were very pleasing and satisfying. Generous portions of fish, chips, wings, dressings, etc. A 2-piece live Irish music duo played good music tonight. Several flat screen TVs were on around the dining room. The bar, tables, floors, and restrooms are all nice and clean. Separate checks were no problem. They definitely earned the other great Yelp reviews and my ditto.

Yelp
It's almost midnight and I get the munchies after leaving my friends house. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the bartender and the ambiance reminded me of one of my other favorite Irish restaurants called the Crafty Irishman, which is located on Main Street. Come to find out they have the same owners. Which is awesome as I now know the food n drinks will be good. First thing I ask for is Guinness. If a Irish restaurant serves Guinness in a bottle. Just run away. It's fake news, they ain't a real Irish restaurant! Luckily Guinness is on draft here :) Since I could only order from the late night menu; I opted for wings k fries. The lemon pepper is oh my so good! I also ordered the inferno and they were perfectly balanced and not super spicy where you need water. If your a medium hot type of person, order the inferno and you won't regret it. The fries on the other hand, I would pass on. They are coated fries and personally I don't like fries that were dipped in some type of batter before being fried. If you get the munchies deep in the night. Keep in mind that the kitchen is open until 1am everyday. If your interest in a libation the bar is open to 2am daily.

Yelp
We live nearby this cozy pub! I love coming here during the week during their happy hour. The service is great when you have Yasmeen! She's consistent and always has a great attitude. The cod taco and mussels are my fave highly recommend
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
The duck wings were delicious, and the rueben sandwich I forgot to snap a photo of was great as well! The music for the atmosphere seemed a little too slow for a weekend afternoon to me, the music was making me sleepy.
google avatar

Melinda C.

Yelp
They actually care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For reAL Austin and Karina are the best!

Chris S.

Yelp
Best Irish Pub in Dallas. Fish and chips done right - "we don't f around". Scotch eggs were fabulous.
google avatar

Meredith S.

Yelp
I'm thankful this comfortable spot opened up walking distance from me. When we arrived it was seat yourself with bar seats, high tops, low tops, and tables built for a crowd. Our server was prompt and courteous. During the meal I was able to try both the shepherds pie and the Irish lamb stew, which were delicious. The bread was totally worth the carbs and the guilt. I really can't wait to work my way through the rest of the menu. Tip: Wednesday is half price whiskey.
google avatar

Taylor J.

Yelp
This place reminds me of The Crafty Irishman and The Playwright, happens to be that they have the same owners! Totally cool for me. I've been going to The Craft Irishman for a year now and I love the vibes. I live on a different area of town and the vibe is still the same. Love this chain. Best happy hour in town to meet some cool people and feel like you're back in Ireland. Cheers!

Angela B.

Yelp
This Irish Pub never disappoints!!! I have eaten almost everything on the menu!! being that I have Irish blood I can say it is even better than some of my tried and true recipes , some with a Tex Mex mix! I eat her at least 3 days a week when I'm in town ! Saturday and sunday brunch is a must try as well! Bartenders make great cocktails and of course the Irish whiskey collection!! I think I have said enough!!!

Phil L.

Yelp
This is a nice neighborhood Irish pub with classic Irish pub food. It is friendly and has a great feel to it. Highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Daren S.

Yelp
Cannons rules for wings! Nice crunch but also nice flavor. I got the medium flavor, and I liked how I could taste the flavor but the wings were not dripping or wet. Like I said they had a nice crunch! They also have really tasty ranch dressing. Once COVID calms down I'll get some drinks with my wings, but for the time being I will stick with getting a pizza to-go at Old Hags and wings to-go at Cannons and calling it a night! You can eat outside Cannons though if you want.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has an awesome happy hour, food and drinks. Craft deal is amazing. Also their fish and chips are legit. On mondays they have a buy one get one fish and chips for free. Irish nachos are great too as is their whiskey options. They also have whiskey Wednesday with all whiskeys half off all night long
