Canopy by Hilton Portland Pearl District

"Set the scene for us. Maybe you came via the Portland Streetcar (there’s a stop a block away), perhaps you traveled old school glamour-style in an Amtrak sleeper car (historic Union Station is a five-minute walk); however you arrived in this neck of the Pearl District, you’ll be happy to rest your feet in the airy lobby or brick-walled Winter Garden atrium. Relax with with a glass of Elk Cove pinot noir or pFriem IPA, contemplate the walls of contemporary art, and perhaps pet a passing corgi (VIPs, i.e., Very Important Pups, are welcome). You'll also notice eco-friendly touches at this Gold LEED-certified hotel like filtered water dispensers, free bike rentals, full-size bathroom amenities, and rooftop beehives. This a comfortable home base for travelers who prefer to be near downtown but not in the thick of it. Tell us all about the accommodations. Rooms are sufficiently spacious and brightened by floor-to-ceiling windows, the modern industrial vibe accented by polished concrete floors lined with soft striped rugs (bring warm socks if you’re prone to getting cold feet, or use the pair provided in the room), white walls hung with color-splashed regional artwork, plaid and blondewood headboards, cushioned chaise lounges (in the king rooms), and ergonomic leather desk chairs. Those who value a good night’s sleep will be big fans of the uber-comfortable signature Canopy memory foam beds. Train buffs, ask for a corner king room with a view of Union Station’s iconic “Go By Train” clocktower. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is speedy and free throughout the hotel and in your room. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Named for the city’s beloved Vaux Swifts—which mesmerize the eager crowds that gather annually on the slopes of Northwest Portland’s Chapman Elementary School come September—the hotel’s handsome Vaux restaurant offers a nightly dinner menu and Sunday brunch in the dining room or on the patio. Expect an uncomplicated menu of well-prepared classics, like deviled eggs, a handful of pizzas, and a crispy pork cutlet sandwich on a homemade potato bun, alongside a solid selection of Oregon beer, wine, kombucha, and CBD-spiked sodas (this is Portland, after all), plus a dozen or so house cocktails. If you're traveling on business and looking for healthy snacks to tide you over between meetings or easy meals to eat in your room while working on tomorrow’s presentation, the excellent family-owned World Foods market is two blocks away, and Whole Foods is a short walk south (stop at Powell’s City of Books en route). If in-room coffee won't cut it for you, try Barista or Nossa Familia, both highly respected neighborhood coffee bars, or walk down to darling Snow Bunny for a Coava cappuccino and apple jam waffle, best consumed across the street in The Fields Park. The ordinarily excellent hotel breakfast is on hold due to the pandemic, but breakfast bags are available upon request. If you must have your breakfast pastry though, you’re best off walking around the corner to chef Marius Pop’s Nuvrei bakery for an almond croissant (hopefully still warm) and box of jewel-toned macarons to go. Anything to note about the service? Service is upbeat and efficient, the staff is happy to loan you a bike, point you towards a cool shop, and help you figure out where to park, walk the dog, or grab a really good cup of neighborhood coffee. What type of travelers will you find here? Business travelers kicking back after a long day of downtown meetings chat into their phones in the lobby, solo travelers bonding over a game of foosball in the atrium, couples coming back from a bike ride around the waterfront just in time to make their dinner reservation at lively Mediterranean Exploration Company or longtime Peruvian favorite Andina. There's also a wriggly parade of happy four-legged guests giving everything a good sniff. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? The Peal District is one of Portland’s most charming neighborhoods, an abandoned warehouse district and railyard turned energetic inner city oasis crowded with diverse condominium buildings, stately brick townhomes, and thoughtfully designed parks. But while restaurants, craft cocktail bars, coffee houses, breweries, boutiques, and galleries abound, hotel rooms are in shorter supply, which makes the Canopy a boon for anyone who loves the Pearl’s urban residential feel coupled with its proximity to local landmarks like Powell’s and Union Station, not to mention the easy walkability and streetcar access to downtown, the Alphabet District, and Washington Park’s natural delights. Is there anything you'd change? Valet is temporarily suspended due to the pandemic, so parking can be a bit of a pain. The staff will help direct you to a nearby pay lot, or if you’re the disciplined sort, make sure you’ve downloaded the Parking Kitty app—the city’s very own official mobile parking app—and keep e-plugging the meter and moving your car as needed between the enforcement hours (8am to 7pm Monday through Saturday, 1pm to 7pm on Sundays). Any other hotel features worth noting? Dogs are not only welcome here, they get a special BarkBox toy and all natural dog treats at check-in courtesy of the hotel’s Paws in the Neighborhood program, plus your room will be ready with a Just-Right dog bed and water and food bowl set. You and Fido will also get a curated guide filled with everything a cool cat (er, dog) needs to know about the area. Bottom line: Why are we choosing Canopy? The eco-friendly aura coupled with comfortable rooms and fun artistic design elements make this a worthy choice, especially if you’re keen on the prime Pearl location." - Jen Stevenson

Canopy by Hilton in Portland exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was modern, welcoming, and refreshingly local. The staff (Wesley) was incredibly friendly and helpful—every interaction felt genuine and warm. My room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully designed with thoughtful touches that made it feel unique to Portland. Chuck provided me with a list of local recommendations. The location is perfect for exploring the city—close to great restaurants, shops, and downtown sights, but still quiet enough for a relaxing stay. I loved the complimentary bikes and local coffee in the lobby each morning. The rooftop lounge and bar was a standout—amazing views and a great spot to unwind in the evening. If you're visiting Portland and want a hotel that feels upscale yet down-to-earth, Canopy is it. I’ll absolutely stay here again!

Location is on the edge of sketchy. Don't go the wrong direction at night. Reception told me using the valet service was the safest option for the car ($55/night). The room was okay. Concrete floors were a surprise, but got used to them. Bed was very comfortable. No bottled water in room, but have a carafe and filtered water in the hallway. Great idea, although our carafe had something growing on the inside of the bottle. Shower has the tiniest shower head and very little pressure. Bar is good. Didn't try any food, but looked good coming out.

This hotel has a great deal of character. So many things I loved about it. I probably would have given 5 stars; but there were a few minor inconveniences. LOVE: Free morning coffee in the lobby, beautiful decor, spa-like shower sundries. This hotel makes a hotel experience seem less commercialized and more personal. Shower was amazing and beds/pillows extremely comfortable as are most Hilton beds. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. DISAPPOINTING: Rooms beautiful; but tile floor in entry and bath could use more attention during cleaning. We had to wear shoes because the floor was very dirty which was disappointing. The rest of the room and bath was spotless. Hotel safe didn’t work which was a bit of an bummer but not earth shattering. Amenities sparse- If you book a room for 3 people, the staff should make sure there are bath towels for 3 people. My biggest complaint is the hotel doesn’t have a luggage drop off (overhang). When we were loading, it was pouring rain and we got soaked loading luggage. Also, parking situation is complicated. Overall stay was wonderful but for the price, needs some tweaking to set oneself apart from competitors. . I’d definitely stay again.

Google
The best part of our stay was the food service staff. We were there Friday night and really enjoyed sitting at the bar for cocktails and a late night sandwich. Breakfast the next day was served quickly, hot and fresh. They understand hospitality is making quests feel welcome and appreciated. This was our second time staying in this hotel and I'm glad we did.

Location was perfect, rooms were clean and comfortable. The lobby is great to knock out some work and the rooftop bar is really cool. Thank you for providing the birthday welcome!

Google
Great hotel near the Amtrak station. 1 1/2 mile to Washington Park with a fabulous rose garden. Walkable if you are in decent shape with fairly moderate to steep inclines to park. Hotel area has several restaurants within 1/2 mile. Wendell was great at the front desk!

Google
I spend 100+ nights per year in all levels of hotels and maintain diamond status. We're middle aged, not high maintenance and I travel to Portland almost monthly. Additionally due to my industry/company, I was required to travel during the entire COVID nightmare. I totally understand the challenges and changes the pandemic brought to hotels and have a great deal of respect for the hospitality industry as a whole. However negative, my experience & review is honest. The positives first: Property looks well cared for and clean. Room was functional and laid out well. Excellent gym on the 11th floor. Location is ideal for all Pearl District activities with lots of available street parking. Bar staff were friendly/engaging and knowledgeable of the area. It goes downhill from here: Arrived at 3:15 which was communicated previously twice to staff. The lobby/reception is just a desk next to the front door. "Ren" at front desk was not friendly. Told us the room was made up but needed to be inspected. Waited 30 minutes; went back to Ren to be told the room wasn't to the "Canopy standard". Waited another 30 minutes. During this time other guests told us they were short staffed? Also saw two maids collect what looked like there pay checks from the front desk? Was finally checked-in by another desk agent; told nothing about the property nor was my diamond status acknowledged. Front desk in general not friendly and lacking professionalism. Staff wear common street clothes; difficult to identify and looks sloppy. Walked past countless times in four days and was never smiled at; spoken to with a hello or anything. However people on their phones all the time... Made three requests for extra pillows and the 3rd time was the charm. 80+ degrees for a couple days in Portland and the air conditioning in room was barely functional which was addressed three times with no recourse. First time engineering showed up with us in in the room. Left for 4 hours, came back, still not working, called the front desk, they said engineering didn't addressed it yet, they had no idea he was actually there earlier. Said he'd come back. I told them to relocate us to another room if it could be fixed. Another 4 hours, still not working, called the front desk, said they'd get back to me ASAP and nothing. Could not sleep it was so hot. Other guests complaining about it being too hot. Day two asked about the room being made up as no info was provided at check-in. Was told due to staffing issues rooms would not be made up unless requested each day? This was a total lie. Day three no request and magically a maid showed up? Lack of security; anyone as access to restrooms, elevators, all floors and no elevator cameras. No visible security persons; only valet and front desk person... Restaurant sucked! (not bar) No pancakes, French toast, waffles or baked goods available for breakfast two mornings? Coffee cups, milk, creamer missing one morning? No water glasses a couple mornings? No one to clear tables for nearly 1 hour? One evening at 5:00pm out of menu items too? Unlike other Canopy's; no tastings/drinks offered in the evening, nothing identifiable as a regional/local anything either... In conclusion: This Canopy truly failed on delivering what the brand says it's about. Sad because we had excellent experiences at other Canopy's. In it's current state, I would exhaust all other Hilton and Marriott brands before staying at this property again.

Google
Overall a good hotel. The rooms layout is very modern and convenient. Hotel is very clean and in a good area with lots of restaurants nearby. Hotel has a nice bar and open seating area. Chuck the bartender is very nice and welcoming, he goes out of his way to make your stay a great one. He even made a list of restaurant recommendations for us to visit.

Yelp
Stayed there four nights and they only cleaned the room once. I know some hotels have scaled back to every other day but one cleaning is extremely poor in my opinion considering the price of the hotel.

Yelp
Located in the heart of the Pearl District in Portland Oregon lies the Canopy by Hilton Hotel, a posh and artistic affiliation with the Hilton brand. At first glance I was thrilled with the appearance of the hotel due to its ultra modern decor which sets it apart from the old fashion versions of Hilton establishments. This one screamed "Style" and I was confident that it would not have the 6-inch deep bath tub, or the elevators that take forever to move from floor-to-floor. Once inside I was greeted by Justice and informed it was not check-in time and they would store our bags. Later after having strolled the neighborhood and visit the local Farmer's Market located adjacent to the Portland State University campus. Upon entering our room I was thrilled to see our fashionable, modern, and practical room with a huge amount of storage the room that is similar to being home. Luggage storage, dresser drawers, hanging storage, desk drawers, and event the nightstands had drawers to store items, which is perfect for an extended stay. In addition, there is a hidden safe, and cooler drawer to store beverages. The room was ultra modern with concrete floors, with carpeting; floor to ceiling windows; wall mounted television; and a shower in the bathroom built-for-two! The bedroom and the rest of the room could be separated utilizing a sliding barn door. One of the best room I have stayed under the roof of a Hilton, having stayed at many of their hotels as a Hilton H. Honors member. Must mention the Walkability Score of this hotel is 100. Just steps away are shops, restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and public transportation. The hotel's boutique style restaurant is quite nice too, offering service for breakfast, lunch and dinner until 10PM. During my stay I had the pleasure of meeting Dion Oden (manager) and he recognized me as a Hilton Gold Member and ensured that our stay was perfect! Highly recommend this hotel should you visit Portland, and after my visit I will return soon.

Yelp
Oh wow, Canopy by Hilton in Portland has truly exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I checked in, the critically amazing staff made me feel right at home. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely care about making each guest's stay exceptional. The amenities here are nothing short of spectacular. The rooms are beautifully designed with minimalism and comfort in mind, offering a perfect blend of style and functionality. One note though, the heater is not very good at heating. Also the water pressure in the shower leaves much to be desired. But the rest of the features more than balance these oversights out. For example, the business center rooms -- nothing short of best in class. What really sets Canopy by Hilton apart is the attention to detail and the warm hospitality of the staff. They go above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of your stay is perfect. Absolutely in love with the coffee bar folks. No, seriously. Staying here has been an absolute pleasure, and I can't recommend Canopy by Hilton in Portland enough for anyone looking for an above-and-beyond hotel experience in the city.

Yelp
If you are a working professional, DO NOT STAY HERE! I was planing to work remotely while in Oregon and the wifi was out almost the ENTIRE day. Whenever I called to get an update, I was told they are working on it. Many remote workers were in the lobby trying to figure out what to, and the hotel employees had no solution. The staff were so kind, but this is unacceptable from a hotel management standpoint. There should be backups in place to make sure the entire hotel doesn't have an outage. If you need wifi in any capacity, this is not the place for you! Happy traveling in Portland! Nice and comfortable hotel outside of that.

Yelp
We stayed in room 715- a corner room with a view. It was decent- but the refrigerator was broken. Which sucks when you are traveling with perishable snacks and arrive at 10pm.... Lastly, the breakfast thats "included" for an additional fee. I noticed there were no reviews regarding breakfast.... Well thats because its a paper bag with yogurt and fruit. We didnt even bother.

Yelp
This near new hotel was the perfect place for a group of us to stay while visiting Portland. Everybody loved their room and the common area is downstairs. The hotel has a great vibe. I slept very well on a comfortable bed. Overall, I would give it five stars. Definitely will be back next time I visit Portland.

Yelp
Very pleasant stay, at a somewhat safe area of Portland. The rooms are clean, a small fridge and very comfortable beds. Close to many restaurants and shops. Vaux is a nice but small restaurant, the breakfast is decent. I'd stay here again!

Yelp
Highlights/Lowlights 1. Super friendly staff 2. Great location 3. Very expensive drinks Spent 6 nights at the Hilton Canopy Pearl District recently. From the second you walk in you are greeted with warmth and friendliness. You can tell the staff here enjoys their jobs or are incredibly good at pretending. I usually check in online and do the digital key which was a breeze. This hotel is conveniently located in Portland's Pearl District (IMHO a great location!). There are TONS of restaurants, shops, and breweries that are easily walkable from the hotel. Definitely check the closing time during the week as we found a lot of places so close at 9. Canopy is an eco-concious lifestyle hotel which means no fridges or microwaves in the room. I was a little bummed because I usually like to grab some yogurts/sparkling waters to keep in my room for long trips. This also means that your room is not cleaned unless you request it one day in advance. We spent a little time at the hotel bar which had a really cool vibe but the drink situation was kind of shady. They were "redoing their menu" so no drink menu with prices was available. We ordered a few rounds of beer/wine and ended up with a MASSIVE bill at the need of the night. Again, not having prices bothered me in this instance. I really liked this hotel!! I would for sure recommend, but it's important to know a couple of the quirks going in.

Yelp
There is nothing wrong with this hotel, but there is so much wrong. PROS: Jonathan at the front desk was very engaging and friendly at check out. Chuck in the bar was great and kept us entertained for our nightcap. Breakfast was delicious and their coffee blend is terrific. Valet at check out was very friendly and thanked us for our stay. Nice amenities in the room with coffee, toiletries, robes, etc. CONS: Service: Valet completely ignored me, talking to friends, as I unloaded my trunk in the light rain. He finally asked if I was going to valet when I got 2 feet from him with my luggage. Front desk really needed something to do. As I sat in the lobby, I had to listen to them all making their plans for the weekend. The bar closes at 10PM? Really, Friday and Saturday night you don't have the bar open until at least midnight??? Not the hip vibe I was thinking Canopy had. Room: Bathroom pocket door is all marked up from use. Needs painted. Bedroom blackout shades open to different heights, neither one all the way up. Bedroom lights above bed, one not working. TV only had 3 channels when I checked in, needed maintenance to reboot the system. Sound: Stayed two nights. The first night I was up until 5:30AM as the neighbor below or next door talked, played music, watched TV, talked some more, etc. I did not get any sleep until they finally shut up at 5:30AM, until they woke up again at 7:30AM to continue being terrible neighbors and hotel guests. One of my worst nights of sleep in a hotel ever. It's not a bad hotel, but I would not stay again.

Yelp
This hotel is beautiful, and the staff is amazing. Check-in was a breeze, and the folks at the front desk are also so friendly and helpful. The rooms are great. It didn't feel too cramped, and the bed was comfy. The only issue I had with the bed was that they just placed a flat sheet over the bed instead of a fitted sheet. So that kept coming off and getting bunched up every time we moved around in bed, which exposed the mattress. The thermostat has an AI feature that I suspect automatically turned up the temperature in the middle of the night to 74, which was way too warm for us. We were a bit disappointed that the bar was closed every evening we got back and wanted a drink. The website stated it closes at 9pm, so when we got there at around 8pm, we were very surprised it was closed (and on a Saturday night, too!). Despite this, we were able to buy a bottle of wine from the front desk, which we took up to the rooftop to sit and enjoy the nighttime views of the city. We also really liked having the water stations to fill our water bottles and carafe whenever we wanted. So great to not use plastic bottles, and the water tasted great!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my one night stay at this property. It is a convenient location in the Pearl, with plenty of things within walking distance. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful as we got in early. I love how the rooms are styled, with almost a mudroom area if there's rain that day. Not to mention a nespresso machine in room and a water satiation on every floor for you to fill up. We ate breakfast at the restaurant and loved the avocado toast and omelettes. Will be back again!

Yelp
Everyone here took care of my mom so well over the holidays when I got sick and could not spend time with her during her visit. They really went above and beyond to make her comfortable and happy. I'm so grateful to them and think everyone should come here during their Portland stay. The hotel itself was very cute and I loved the decor. I have no complaints and thank everyone there!

Yelp
This was our second time staying at the Canopy by Hilton Portland in the Pearl District. The first time it was just me and my husband; this time it was us and our two teenagers. We were able to get connecting rooms which made it feel like a suite! SERVICE: The service on our first visit was AMAZING; this second visit, we didn't encounter as many staff, but everyone we did speak with was very friendly, kind, and very helpful. LOCATION: The location is fantastic because you can walk to restaurants and shops easily in the Pearl District. We felt 100% safe in this location at all hours of the day and night. ROOMS: The double rooms we stayed in were clean, with modern and comfortable furnishings. The sliding barn doors are a nice touch, although some slide too quickly and can bang loudly into the wall. WATER STATIONS: I love that they have water bottle refill stations on each floor, and how we're given a glass carafe to refill, instead of single use plastic water bottles. Every hotel should have this! DINING: We didn't eat at the restaurant at all during this last visit, but you should know that there is no room service here. The restaurant has a decent breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch menu. And you can opt for a $5 breakfast bag with fruit, yogurt, and orange juice which is brought to your room in the morning. PETS: They are also dog friendly and have bikes you can borrow! PARKING: We always find street parking easily either right out front or just around the block. If you want valet parking it's pretty expensive at nearly $50. Overall, we enjoyed our stays here and I'd recommend it for business travelers, couples, and families. The price for our rooms was a little higher compared to other local hotels, but we'd stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel is super cute. Modern boutique hotel located in the heart of Portland. All the staff is super nice. The customer service here is great! But what I need to point out the most is their wonderful front desk staff Neko. NEKO, YOU'RE AMAZING! The absolute sweetest and most considerate person. Thank you Neko! I hope management is aware of how lucky they are to have such a wonderful member on the Hilton team.

Yelp
As a frequent traveler who experiences different hotels every year, sometimes you don't always have the best experience. NOT THIS PLACE! The staff here is and goes ABOVE & BEYOND to make you feel at home from the minute you walk in the door till the minute you leave. This staff just doesn't miss! I would like to personally thank Sage, Addy, and CJ for doing what so many hotel staff won't do and that's PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS AND NAIL ALL THE LITTLE THINGS AND help the guest with there experience while staying here. As a business owner, if I could, I would take all three of them with me to LA but I will say they deserve a raise cause the three of them are gonna be the reason this place stays in business for along time! So, 5 stars, standing ovation, and a salute to who hired these three. They are killing it at their jobs! Oh yeah and the furniture is sooooooo comfy

Yelp
This is easily one of the best experiences I've had at a Hilton. Very friendly and helpful staff, good general interior, and a good room. Unless you were relying on all the features of a four star hotel (such as laundry, which they do not have on-site, but have 24 hour turnaround service), this Canopy has everything. More than everything, even. I like how every floor has a filtered water station. They supply you a reusable glass water jug is provided in your room, making this one of the times that I was *happy* to not receive the water bottles as an HHonors member. If there's any drawbacks, I would probably say it's the fitness center and the location. The gym is fairly lacking, providing treadmill, bike, dumbbells, but no mats or any type of exercise ball. It's also very small but I never found anyone using it (maybe because it's on the top floor rather than the 1st/2nd as more usually found in other US hotels). The Canopy, as per its name, is in the Pearl District, which still gives you quick access to the Lan Su Chinese Garden, Nola's donuts, and some other restaurants, but it's not actually in the heart of downtown. So if you wanted to make a trip to Powell's bookstore, it's going to take a bit of a walk there. But that's like the tiniest nitpick I could make, because there's also a streetcat station down the block so you could get anywhere through public transit reasonably fast. I'll definitely be booking here again when I return to Portland!

Yelp
This place isn't up to the usual Hilton level of quality but not to the extent I'd avoid staying here. But be aware what you are getting into: Pros: it's located in an awesome neighborhood; very cute modern decor and design; friendly and helpful staff; water bottle refill stations on every floor; view from the workout room on the roof is cool; the staff at the bar is really cool Cons: the shower takes FOREVER to get hot; the ultra modern sliding doors in the room did not have bumpers installed like they are supposed to by whoever built this place so you get a reminder multiple times a day during your trip of Newton's Third Law of Action-Reaction; the timers installed in the bathroom turn off the lights halfway through your toilet visit or your shower so hopefully you have good dark vision; the fridge in the room is set too low like the only thing they expect you put in them is red wine (it's not even cold enough for beer!); the Hilton app doesn't seem to open doors for a lot of patrons including myself (like it does at other Hilton's) and thus you have to use a card key; the beds are very very soft (not a plus for me); the workout room on the roof is next to an electrical room and it's surrounded by windows that flooding light in like a greenhouse so it's warm enough in there to do hot yoga in but too hot to actually workout IMHO. Overall I'd stay here again but some of the quirks are enough to raise my eyebrow like Spock or The Rock!

Yelp
Staying at the residence Inn at Marriott in Portland, Pearl District. The hotel is fine however, please look at the what happens to your vehicle in the picture. The site of my car is also what you experience in general of the outside atmosphere. What happened to Portland? I guess the birds are more important than the guests. Interesting City. Happy to be going home tomorrow.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Overall, I loved this stay so much for SO many reasons! Hotel Staff: Each and every person was beyond kind, helpful and pleasant. They always seemed so welcoming and friendly to both humans and dogs. I loved that they always greeted my dog Pretzel and never forgot her name during our stay. They are very pet friendly and charge a $50 flat fee for pet stays. Sustainability: My career involves working within sustainability, so the fact that the Canopy series of hotels focuses on doing better for our earth makes me even more excited! They are 100% plastic bottle and plastic straw-free, offering water stations on each floor. They partner with many local companies to source food and drinks. Their rooms do not have fridges to save on energy and it encourages you to explore and try local eateries. They also offer complimentary bikes to guests! Location: I love the pearl district! Very walkable, safe and plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops in the immediate area. Easily walkable to the downtown area. Rooms: What cute rooms! It was fairly quiet with plenty of space and storage to put belongings in. The bed was very comfortable and I liked the large windows in the corner room we had. My dog loved looking out at the view every day! The bathroom is very spacious and had a great shower. The bed was also very comfy as well. Dining: We picked up breakfast & coffee to eat in our room and it was delicious! Lobby: Very cute- wish I had spent more time in there. They have a little lounge area, mini gallery featuring some art, small spot to purchase snacks/beverages. Parking: They don't have a garage, but we valet parked. A little pricey for valet ($47 a day), but worth the peace of mind. Plus they will charge your car if you have an EV car. Street parking is the other option, which seems easy to find. I wish more hotels were like this from service, upkeep and sustainability. Thank you to the staff again for an amazing stay! I can't wait for my next trip here.

Yelp
Two nights here earlier this week. The customer service is outstanding. The location is outstanding. Not a fan of the two parking options: Park on the street or valet for $47 per night. The *one* nice thing that partially made up for the valet cost was that they'll charge your car overnight if they have a spot, and they did. Getting a full tank in the morning was super cool. The room was certainly nice. Water filling station in the corridor was nice as well. The only downside to the room were the large rolling doors - they're just very loud when you're the first one up and trying to shower. The actual bathroom door loudly bangs against the neighboring room's wall if you're not super careful - I put a spare roll of toilet paper to stop it and that helped. Nice coffee shop on the first floor so you don't have to roam. Also Nespresso machine in the room which my wife loved and now I have to buy a Nespresso machine for her. :)

Yelp
Only stayed at the Canopy one night but it was a great experience. Would definitely stay here again. It's in a great location to walk around to plenty of shops, restaurants, etc. I called ahead about parking and was told that street parking is the best option, though they do have a small self-park lot you can use, but that is pretty pricey (around $40 if I remember right) for essentially being the same security as just parking along the street. The Parking Kitty app is super convenient! I booked the room online through a 3rd party website but check-in was seamless (I've had issues with that before at other places). The front desk person was very friendly and the process was quick. Our room was spacious, clean, and trendy. The little mini-fridge in our unit didn't seem to be working but that didn't bother us since our stay was so short so we did not even call the front desk about it. We also thought we might visit the rooftop patio we were told about but never quite made it as we were out and about most of our time in Portland. Maybe next time!

Yelp
This hotel was a delightful place to stay in downtown Portland. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean, tidy, and very elegant. Trendy design, perfect customer service, and excellent attention to COVID protocols made this an enjoyable and safe stay. My concern with hotel, however, is the area. Before we booked, my impression of the Pearl District was that it was a trendy, somewhat upscale, neighborhood with a good mix of kitschy shops and fun local restaurants. And while those things are true, the part that we didn't realize was this area is a huge haven for Portland's homeless population. There are significant numbers of homeless individuals throughout the Pearl and Old Town neighborhoods and the city has epically failed to deal with the problem. To be fair, we didn't ever feel in danger in this neighborhood, but don't book here expecting a west coast answer to Chelsea, when the reality is closer to Manhattan in the late '70s. I'm not saying don't stay here, the homeless that we saw weren't violent or angry, just dealing with a lot of issues and needing help that the city isn't providing, but understand what you're walking into. Overall, a wonderful stay and a lovely hotel.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Canopy for five wonderful nights. I loved the location -- the Pearl District -- and found the hotel to be rather charming and clean. It was reasonably priced, the rooms are hip and spacious, and our view of the city was quite nice. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Fast, reliable wifi -- that's always important. The interior of the hotel is cute and the them is fun and eclectic. The bar and lounge areas are picture-perfect, though we didn't have the chance to dine there. No mini fridges with snacks and drinks, so your best bet is to go downstairs and grab something. They put out coffee, tea and pastries every morning in the lobby area. If you want to bring your car and want them to park it, the rate is $45 PER NIGHT. That is ridiculous, and they know what they're doing. It was so freaking hard to find long-term parking in the area. We had to move our car around the block several times to accommodate street parking rules. We settled for an adjacent lot that charged somewhere around $30 a night. Insanity... One thing I did not like about the rooms: no real doors. The bathroom had a sliding door that didn't close all the way, and there was no lock. My boyfriend and I are perfectly comfortable around each other, but that's asking a bit much. The door that separates the hall area from the bedroom is also a sliding door without a lock, so that didn't help. I am not opposed to coming back for another stay, but I will definitely be more mindful about parking. Waking up at 6am to move the car was not fun.

Yelp
Stayed here 3 nights and everything we ever needed (more coffee, toiletries, etc) was always just a text away. Hotel is modern and clean, loved the rooms with the barn doors. We had 2 adjoining rooms and felt like we had a lot of space. And finally a hotel hairdryer that works properly. The Nespresso machine was super clutch. The design of the main restaurant and the downstairs lounge area was beautiful. Street parking was pretty abundant and super easy once we downloaded Portland's Parking Kitty app. Costs $2 per hour plus a 20-cent convenience fee per transaction.

Yelp
Very small units. Walls are paper thin, so you get the share your neighbors conversations and TV. They claim they do a deep cleaning but the soap bar from the previous people was still in the shower. Dirty door handles. Fixtures falling apart. Sink drain would. It drain. Over all very disappointing, especially for the price we paid for the night!

Yelp
Came here a couple of days ago with some friends as we were in the area. This review is for the bar/restaurant side and not the lodging. The interior is very spacious with an open design. There's also a spacious area in the bottom section with a foosball table. The decor is very modern with a slight rustic appearance. The drinks we ordered were pretty refreshing. I had the Soothe- vodka, ginger, turmeric, pineapple, coconut water. You can definitely taste the ginger and turmeric in the drink, but it had a slight taste that one would have to be accustom to. My friend ordered the Refresh - pisco, blanc vermouth, cucumber, basil and mint. This drink was a bit lighter and definitely fits the name perfectly as it was refreshing. Ther service was good and quick as it was not busy when we were there. I definitely like the layout and may be finding myself here more.

Yelp
Loved everything about this hotel! It started with Rachel's lovely check in and description of the hotels concept. Love the water filling stations on every floor. Something I've been suggesting for years. Each room has a glass jug to fill for your room. The open community areas are truly like a neighborhood living room. Plenty of space to enjoy alone or with friends. Looking forward to coming again. Next time for work we'll enjoy that comfortable space to work in the evenings. The room was very comfortable and ergonomic for what's really needed in traveling. Just loved everything about this hotel and I look forward to more builds in this country's

Yelp
Used my Hilton points to stay here for 2 nights. There is no valet parking due to COVID but found street parking no problem and it was free after a certain time so definitely ended up being cheaper than the unnamed lot across the street. The hotel is extremely clean and I felt safe staying here. The staff were extremely attentive and provided great recommendations!

Yelp
The staff were great. Let's get that out of the way. No complaints there. The room was cute. And pretty large. Clean. Modernish. Some of what's wrong with the hotel is just what's wrong about Portland. Or what's right with Portland. You decide. Here goes: There's no water in the room. There's a glass jug. You take the jug down the hall to a refill machine and fill it with water. This became problematic when I had to do this late and night and there was a dude in the hallway that creeped me out. There should be water in a hotel room. I get that we don't want plastic bottles. Find a solution that does not require me to go to the well to fill the bucket like it's 1860. Also, who washes the jug and how? Dishwasher can't wash that shape. For anyone tempted to reply that you can drink out of the sink, just stop it. Maybe you are saying at this point that I'm spoiled. At this price point yes, I am. If you want to charge me $50 per night then sure, I'll fill my jug! There's no room service. Again- this is not a cheap hotel. And there's a restaurant downstairs! They just won't bring your food up. So if you were looking for food or water in the actual room this might not be your hotel. The food was good, though. Menu was a bit limited so I was reduced to grilled cheese and tomato soup but it was delicious like every grilled cheese ever served was delicious. There is a little coffee machine in the room. Those always freak me out because there's no way to get ALL the water out of a coffee maker and if it isn't used regularly who knows how long that water has sat in that machine? First day I did use it and it didn't go well. So next day I went downstairs and got 32 ounces of (quickly served and utterly perfect) lattes in two to-go cups and carried the hot cups up to the 8th floor then placed one on the rug outside the door so I could use the key, then opened the door and held it open with my butt while I bent down and picked up the hot cup from the rug....Again, no room service. No safe in the room. No mini bar or snacks in fridge- but the fridge is pretty big! So when you walk down to Rite Aid in the inevitable rain to get bottled water don't forget snacks. Body wash provided smelled like 'Dude you meet at the bar at 1:55am.' But I'm picky on that front so that's on me. There's no water in the gym and there's nothing to clean the equipment with. There are two Bubblers outside the gym. So you can run on the treadmill for fifteen minutes, stop, walk outside the gym and use the fountain, then go back onto the treadmill and reprogram it if that took more than the 30 second pause allowed on the treadmill timer. Oh, and you have to use your key to get in and out of the door so don't forget it on the treadmill when you go outside of the gym to get water. As an added bonus, Canopy has placed bees on the only outdoor space in the hotel- on the top floor roof deck. So... watch out for angry bees.

Yelp
A great stay for our first time in Portland! Upon arrival we were greeted and were even given tips for getting around and what areas avoid which I thought was great to know. We were accommodated with early check in and it was much appreciated since we had been on an early flight and wanted to rest. The room was large and trendy! We loved the sliding door and the coffee machine! And even the fact that there was a water station on each floor. They also had a cool spot to chill in with couches and a foosball table, can't remember what that room was called. Overall, we felt safe, the room was clean and the staff was friendly. We were sad that the restaurant closed earlier than listed on that day for brunch but it's okay because there were many food options nearby. We would stay again!

Yelp
This review is solely for the Canopy Central Cafe (the hotel's ground floor restaurant). Really love this "hidden" spot. I'm using the airquotes cause saying this place is huge is an understatement, but I'm guessing locals really don't pay this spot much attention since this is the hotel lobby eatery. The main reason I love this place is it's a great place to lounge, study, read, work...for hours, without feeling like you're loitering. As I said earlier, the place is deceptively huge, as the eating area is actually comprised of 3 to 4 separate areas where you can take your food and lounge. All the areas have a very distinct feel...one feels a bit like a conference room, while another a garden lounge, and another a full bar lounge, and of course you have your main dining type area. This being a hotel lounge, they have outlets everywhere and free WiFi. On my latest visit there, I got the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque. No lie, this might be the best grilled cheese I've ever had. It's most likely cause I'm a croissant lover, and they use this croissant loaf bread for their grilled cheese sandwiches...brilliant.

Yelp
We just stayed 3 nights at the Canopy and it was a great time. The valet came and opened our doors for us as we arrived. We were also given a number to text every time we want our car to be ready. The front desk were polite when we were checking in and we had friendly conversation about the concert my partner and I were attending the following day. We got up to our room which was clean and well designed. I liked the options of local tea and types of coffees (they have Nespressos in each room) as well as the shampoo, condition, soap, and lotion options (it's some kind of Greek honey mix). Other tech pluses include the JBL Speaker Alarm Clock with Bluetooth and the TV can connect to google accounts (play, movies, YouTube) and download Hulu, but unfortunately no Netflix. Unfortunately my main complaint about the room was the bed was not the most supportive and felt a little cheap for my taste. Breakfast was included with our room, but I would give it a 3/5. There weren't the basic breakfast items like fried eggs or bacon, just mainly a lot of carbs (breakfast flatbread, pastries, bagels). Overall, I was definitely very content with my stay at this hotel. Service was great and the room was decent. There just wasn't anything that blew me away (other than the great valet workers).

Yelp
I had a good impression of Canopy hotel when I visited last month, but NOT this time. Their service at the front desk and the restaurant are NOT GOOD. I didn't feel respected when I told them about a sharp plastic piece from my husband's food. The plastic was really sharp. It could seriously damage my husband's gullet and stomach if he didn't notice it while chewing. I thought this was a serious mistake by the restaurant. Unfortunately, the tone of the apology from the restaurant was not sincere. I brought this issue up to the front desk, and the front desk staff was defensive. We were disappointed to see the staff's defensive reaction and shocked that this could cause a serious health problem for my husband. It is our second visit this year, and we could be royal customers. However, after the experience today, I don't think I'd return to this hotel next time.

Yelp
"Canopy by Hilton" - We're Hilton! But then again, we're not! Don't blame Hilton! Canopy - This office-cum-hotel is bereft of plant life or homely vibes, from its white white walls to its slightly polished plain concrete floors, to it's floating baseboards to the automated hallway water spigot, delivering shot-glasses of water each time you push the old milk bottle you're provided with into its receptacle, little is canopy-like Yes, this is not a happy review for me personally. Why, because I found one thing one associates with canopies - bugs. Bugs I found on the bed. Lets call them bed bugs. Laying down, on the still-made bed after a jaunt around Portland, about 15 winks in, I noticed movement in my peripheral vision - My skin crawled as I checked myself over and started to look how close I'd come. Just two fair sized bed bugs - about 10mm and 7mm - I could see. Metric bed bugs, Oh lordy. I grabbed the old milk bottle as they scattered and managed to flip Junior in. I was not happy. I still had not 'cogged what these were - they were still bugs on beds, not yet bed bugs, the ramifications were not yet fully moulted for me. Couldn't see others. Called the desk, guy turns up, hands him bottle, got offer of new room in return. I started packing what little I'd had time to unpack, and the big guy, Yoda, shows his face again. Now I'm without a milk bottle! I grab the ice bucket and start plucking at him with the tongs - the force was strong in this one - pluck pluck but eventually my tongs overwhelmed him and into the ice bucket he went. I took my quarry to the lobby and exchanged him with the squirming attendant for a key card to another room, happily on a different floor. My skin pulsating with dread, once I heaved my gear from one room to the other, I pulled the beds apart looking for more danger. Nothing, but a very uncomfortable night, and next night, waking at the smallest brush of the skin, jumping out and ripping off the sheets looking for attackers. The manager called. He wasn't thrilled at having this conversation as much as I. He offered to comp the night of the terror, and offered up that as it's a pet friendly hotel, they were likely fleas. I thought back to my experience so far at the hotel - no restaurant, no breakfast, no free bikes, no real effort to inform... I felt that, distracted by events, people here were just phoning it in... and here was just another aspect. I did not engage with what he proffered, although the thought that if they were used to 10mm fleas here, then perhaps "Aquarium by Hilton" would be a more appropriate appellation. Slight annoyed, and hyper-aware, I started noticing more and more - the way the end of both room curtains were unattached, letting in light, irked; The heavy barn door in the middle of the room that you could hear from other rooms if it were being deployed; The way the bathroom vanity draw could not be opened unless the smaller barn door were closed; the enormous gap between the floor and baseboards; the paint splashes on the slightly polished but unfinished cold concrete floor; the abstract patterns the unfinished cold concrete floor picked up in the various areas, especially around the toilet; the stuff I found on the floor presumably from the last guest; the way the bathroom accouterments were entirely inconsistent between my two rooms; perhaps most sadly, the way the VHB tape on the bathroom gels failed and dispensers lay wounded in various locations trying to take the shower wall. I was happy to take my leave as I thought about how to mitigate the infestation I may be taking with me. Disengaged by Hilton.

Yelp
I'm gladly giving Canopy five stars but recognize that a hotel like this is not for everyone. For me and my husband, who are more urban adventurers, it was great! Pros: - New, clean rooms - Friendly staff - Great gym - Ample seating areas in the lobby and lower level for socializing and working - So many great businesses nearby in the Pearl District - Walking distance to downtown - Local treats upon check in (for us, it was a small bag of granola and a pumpkin spice macaroon cookie) - The best free continental breakfast I've seen in the U.S. which included some of the most beloved local businesses in the area (Smith Teamakers, Nuvrei bakery, Pop Bagels) - For those who need to leave really early or don't have time to drop by for the continental breakfast, you can leave a little bag outside your door and they'll bring it back at a time you specify with a piece of fruit, Tillamook yogurt, and some OJ Cons: - Rooms were a bit small. It was fine for two people but I imagine if we had a room with double beds and tried to have three or more people in a room it would get uncomfortable pretty quickly. - No full length closet - it's an exposed clothing rack with hooks for your purse, coats, etc. We were only there for a couple days and it was fine but I imagine for a longer stay this might be bothersome - No bathrobes or slippers - No bathtub - The toiletries have a very cologne-like scent and I would've preferred something a bit more neutral - Valet parking is something like $40+ a night I found the cost to be a tad high compared to other four star hotels in Portland, but it wouldn't stop me from staying here again. I appreciated the commitment to highlight Portland businesses and the location was perfect for us.

Yelp
Incredible incredible experience here at the hotel. Everyone was friendly, fantastic and everything in between! We were so luck to lodge here for our stay! Great location and FREE BREAKFAST! Fresh smoked salmon, breakfast pizzas, hot coffee and amazing pastries. The staff was always on point and so so so helpful. Great experience! !

Yelp
Good sized modern rooms with a great bath/shower. The rooms are modern and have a good set of amenities. The rooms have a good size. They have a breakfast bar, which is far from impressive. Lots of break and cold eggs. It was not a great experience. Even if included we ended up going elsewhere after the first morning. Good location with easy access to downtown.

Yelp
Stayed for 5 days on a business trip. Most staff was helpful (person at the door and one person at the desk). Other desk staff and restaurant staff were either rude or just unprofessional. Was trying to explain an issue with my card on file to someone at the front desk and they kept cutting me off. Happened a couple times with 2 different people. At the restaurant, I called once to order breakfast for pickup (they don't deliver to the room apparently) and was greeted with low energy and clearly someone who didn't want to be there. When I asked if I could place an order they said "uh hold on" and the next person who got on the phone sounded confused as to why I was ordering food... Another instance at the restaurant was that I was standing waiting to order a coffee and no one was coming over to me despite there not being a line. I wasn't sure if they were closed or something (they weren't). Beds were very comfy, but as others have stated on here the walls were veryyy thin. I could hear neighbors' TVs and conversations, doors opening and closing, etc. I also did the $5 bag for breakfast since I had to be at work very early that morning (left the bag on my door the night before, before 2am as the directions stated) and my breakfast wasn't there at the time I requested it. I called about it and luckily they sent over another but it was about 20 mins later. As I was walking down the hall later that morning, I saw they delivered my original bag to the door next to mine. Overall, it was a decent place to stay. Comfy beds, nice location if you go to restaurants and bars a lot, but I don't think it'd be the first hotel I'd think about staying at again if I'm back in the area.

Yelp
First time staying at a Hilton Canopy and I'm a fan. The exposed architectural features and a great location in the Pearl near the park blocks are a winner. The rooms are modern and fun with lots of USB ports for charging. The best is really the staff. The host of the taste evening event, the bar staff, and the front desk all were on point and pleasant. The pizzas and food from the open kitchen looked fantastic and my only regret is that I had dinner plans elsewhere. Next time...

Yelp
The Canopy by Hilton is a nice hotel and an interesting experience. The only parking is valet. As you walk in, the reception desk is to the left where you will be greeted by very friendly staff. The rooms are bright and clean. One design element I did not like was the bathroom floors--they are like concrete, really cold in the morning. I liked the showers, but was not crazy about the shampoo and conditioner. The hotel has a nice coffee shop/bar in the lobby. The design in the bar is really good and the furniture is comfortable and inviting. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Yelp
The hotel is very trendy, clean, and staff is generally very friendly and helpful. Valet is pricy at nearly $50 a night. The walls are paper-thin and staff is totally cool with entering your room to adjust your tv volume to a level they deem acceptable; without your permission. The hotel is in a central location; however the surrounding neighborhood is rough and seedy; I would recommend purchasing pepper spray from the Rite Aid just around the corner. The air in the hotel is dry; like INCREDIBLY dry. Unlike most hotels, the front desk doesn't have any humidifiers to lend to guests, so I purchased one from Walmart for $15 Would I stay here again; sure I guess. Would I WANT to stay here again; probably not.

Yelp
I have zero complaints from my four night stay. The location is perfect if you are looking to get out and walk around the city. The breakfast is not your typical meat and potatoes. I loved the breakfast pizzas, frittatas and bread puddings. A variety of cereals, oatmeal and European spread, too. Coffee and teas were fantastic as was the citrus water. The elevators are lightning fast. The rooms are well appointed, clean and super comfy. The Nepresso machine and bath sheets are truly appreciated. Easy check-in and check-out. Great advice on restaurants and bars, too. As a Hilton Diamond member, I hope the other Hilton hotels will fall in line.

Yelp
Great! 1. A nice location to access downtown Portland 2. Room has an espresso coffee machine u can make ur own coffee by using provided espresso coffee capsules 3. Lots of USB ports around the bedside table, the top of a writing desk 4. Filtered water dispenser is available on each floor. A glass water bottle also provided in the room. 5. The safety box in the room was big enough to fit a 15 inch laptop 6. Exposed concrete room floor was neat & clean 7. 24 hr gym access w a nice city view Negatives,,, 1. Parking is so expensive. Valet parked only. $49/day I think. 2. No pool or Jacuzzi 3. Gym has only one elliptical/stepper, one bike, two Treadmills with some weights equipment 4. The gym seems have sun screens, however the remote was not there. No way to control them. Then, it gets too sunny & hot in the afternoon 5. A barn sliding bathroom door is NOT a great choice for a soundproof door,,, I prefer solid core bathroom door for using a toilet

Yelp
Super impressed by this hotel! The room design is wonderful, especially the set up of the closet area. It has the best free breakfast I've ever had at a hotel and by a very wide margin. The staff was always super friendly and helpful. The location is great with tons of food and shopping options nearby.

Yelp
Stayed at CANOPY by Hilton in Portland and I'm glad we did. Being from LA we were looking for a nice place to stay during our 4-day stay in Portland. We usually opt for an AirBNB, and we're going to stay at The Ace however we decided to stay at Canopy. Hotel is located in an ideal location-the Pearl District- where there are many restaurants shops and bars in the area. Hotel has a boutique feel to it, clean, modern and feels new. Check in/out was smooth easy and staff at front desk are very nice and attentive. Our room was in the fourth floor with a good view. Beds are DREAMY and VERY comfortable, we definitely had a good nights sleep during our stay. Rooms are nice clean and very well kept. Housekeeping did an amazing job every night. Complimentary water, WiFi, and Nespresso in the rooms are a big plus. Im usually very picky with accommodations and the Canopy surpassed my expectations! They offer free breakfast during your stay and have very friendly and professional employees on premises. Kudos to everyone for making our stay memorable!

Yelp
I have stayed her since it opened. Nothing to complain about except it's VAUX restaurant. The management knows it, and as I recommended to the front desk staff, ' just hand out vouchers to guests for area restaurants' to save the aggravation. They know the problem an need to be accountable to their guests about it, likely daily. On the hotel, everyone is nice, helpful and warm and welcoming. I will come back for sure, but go out for breakfast and coffee, even though it's free as a Hilton a diamond member.

Christie P.

Yelp
We were supposed to stay here for 4 days at the beginning of the month but our first night was overbooked. We got the call right as we were boarding our 6 hour flight there. The manager, Nico was extremely accommodating and apologetic. Since we weren't able to stay there, we requested to stay at the Duniway downtown instead. We boarded our flight, and when we checked our email when we landed everything was confirmed! We went to the Duniway and there was no mix up and our room was even upgraded for the inconvenience.

Yelp
This hotel was great ! I loved the whole vibe of the hotel ! The best thing about this hotel is the $5 quick breakfasts they deliver to your room in bags, these were great snack options and quick bite before leaving the hotel. I also loved the Nespresso machine and having a fridge !

Yelp
Front desk staff were incredible! Despite the awkwardness of the social distancing and masks they were very helpful and welcoming . The hotel is very very secure as well which is huge! Down sides: we had to park behind another building across the street and out in the open in a pretty unsafe area. I'm not sure if this is temporary due to the virus and no valet , but it made us very uncomfortable. The room was also pretty dirty. When walking around bare foot you can feel dirt/crumbs over the whole room. The bathroom door was broken so it wouldn't stay shut as they're a barn type door . No lock or fans in the bathroom either and it's incredibly cramped I imagine that someone that's not extremely thin would have a VERY VERY HARD TIME using the bathroom .

Yelp
Location, location, location! Portland digs for the weekend! Cool and relaxed vibe with great amenities and fun special events each day! Happy hours, wineries bringing in their wine, I'm, YES! Fabulous shopping boutiques, art, theatre, food and drinks! Whee!! #getaway #westcoast
