13 Best Rooftop Bars in NYC for Frozen Drinks, Skyline Views, and Mini Golf | Condé Nast Traveler

"Set high above the Stage 48 nightclub in Hell’s Kitchen is the vibrant Cantina Rooftop, where chef Saul Montiel delivers Mexican dishes like guacamole, street corn, a variety of tacos, and chile rellenos. Another option is to grab a group of friends and partake in the deftly named “Big Ass Taco,” a massive tortilla that’s fully loaded with avocado, pico de gallo, queso fresco, crema, Chihuahua cheese, pickled onions, a smattering of sauces, and your choice of chicken or steak, all for a price tag of $80. Thankfully Cantina is equipped with a climate-controlled retractable glass rooftop, which means you can enjoy that Big Ass Taco year-round." - Abbe Baker, Carey Jones

My friend and I went to the rooftop for the Taco Tuesday deal. The staff are welcoming and checks up on you regularly throughout. The drinks were strong but still good. There were also photographers taking photos (with consent) and offering a frame with it too ($$). We were excited to eat the tacos and see the city views, but it turned out we couldn’t see the views. The tacos were hit or miss and it did take longer than normal to get them.

Michael and his staff—especially Rafael—are everything! So attentive, so handsome, and truly the life of the party. You can tell they love what they do. Rafael needs to be the official dancer there fr 😭💃 The vibes are top-tier, the restaurant is beautiful, the food was fire, and the drinks? Strong and sweet. First time here and they made sure it won’t be the last—coming back very soon <333

Had such an amazing experience at Cantina for my anniversary! The rooftop setting was perfect for a night out, and the food was absolutely delicious — we had the queso and chips, tacos, and some great drinks. Everything was full of flavor and beautifully presented. A special highlight was getting to meet Chef Saul, who was incredibly kind and even sent out a gorgeous dessert to celebrate our occasion — such a thoughtful touch! The staff were super attentive and friendly throughout the evening. It was a bit loud at times, but honestly, the food and service more than made up for it. Highly recommend Cantina for a fun night out with incredible food and vibes!

Went to Cantina Rooftop for Taco Tuesday, and honestly, it was disappointing. We had a reservation for 3 at 8:30 PM but weren’t seated until close to 9 PM. What’s the point of having a reservation system if you’re going to make guests wait 15-30 minutes after their scheduled time? I had to go up and ask twice why we hadn’t been seated, especially when I saw people who arrived after us getting tables. Eventually, the manager stepped in and got us seated after hearing how long we’d been waiting. Unfortunately, the service didn’t get any better from there. After finishing our first round of tacos, we placed a second order… and then waited. And waited. After 30 minutes with no food and no updates, our waitress came by to clear the table. I mentioned we were still waiting on our order, and she casually said, “It’s almost here,” but also mentioned they were backed up with other tables. A few minutes later, the manager walked by and told me to “Talk to me.” I explained we’d been waiting over 30 minutes, and another 10-20 minutes after that, he finally brought out HALF of what we ordered (a random mix of tacos) and some fries “on the house.” Then an older man came over and gave us one of the strangest excuses I’ve ever heard at a restaurant. He said they canceled our order (without telling us) because we had ordered “too much” and they thought we wouldn’t be able to finish it. For the record, we had already finished everything we ordered before, so that assumption was completely wrong. And even if they had concerns, they could’ve just told us—not silently canceled our order and made us wait around wondering what was going on. To top it all off, when we got the bill, there was an automatic 20% gratuity added. After all that waiting and terrible service, they definitely didn’t earn that. We recalculated it and left 10%, which honestly felt generous considering the experience. Meanwhile, our waitress was more focused on socializing with another table, even taking sips of their drinks and asking them, “Is it OK if I drink this?”—incredibly unprofessional. The place seemed completely understaffed for their Taco Tuesday deal. The whole night felt chaotic, disorganized, and frustrating. The only positive: they’re generous with the meat on their tacos. But is it worth the wait and the hassle? In my opinion, no.

Service was good, food came quick. All the servers were very nice! The music was lacking a bit but it had its good parts. It’s worth giving a try! Might come back to try them again! The disappointing part was not being able to do the bottomless brunch even though we made it in time but oh well. Our server was Adalberto & he was very nice & welcoming.

We had Brianna as our server, she made my birthday experience so special. We had never been here before, but I will definitely return and with my friends for their next birthday celebrations. The food was delicious. Brianna was attentive to all the needs that we had!
