Wonderful dining experience from the decor to the food. The kitchen is a central feature with wide open windows that invite you to look in as you take your seat and wait for your food. The wait staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful with suggestions. The menu was simple but with varied options for all appetites. The wine menu was the same with a focused selection of well pairing wines. The food was exceptional; I had the venison which simply was the best I've ever had and would compete for the best red meat dish I've ever had. The meat by itself was perfectly cooked and seasoned to let the meat flavors carry the full experience. The remainder of a dish was a joy of experimentation with the variety of well plated assortment of flavors and textures including an intriguing chestnut paté. We finished the meal with some indulgently creamy vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, which was paired with a lovely recommendation of a sweet wine. All in all a lovely dining experience we would love to do again if we find ourselves in Brugge again!

Very tastefully decorated and if not for one very discriminating fact, I would gladly have given four stars ( the waitress was a bit sad). I made a reservation six weeks before the actual visit, stating that I eat a vegetarian diet. Six weeks surely is plenty for a respectable chef to come up with a vege alternative... The fours of us had an amazing time, and chose the lunch of the day. My starter was nice, but when the others got skrei fish with their risotto, I got two sunny side up eggs!!!! with my risotto. What a disappointment in a restaurant that is considered 'upmarket'. I still paid the full price... I love eating at nice restaurants, and for me, the benchmark of a great chef who is with the times, is how creative they can be with vegetarian dishes. When I approached the owner chef about the eggs and the same price as the seasonal fish, she, rather arrogantly, stated : " We don't discriminate for vegetarians... Clearly, she did! I was worth two eggs (Which at home is my last resort when I totally lack inspiration to cook), but they were the most expensive eggs I have eaten. I hope this is an eye-opener, there are many vegetarians with money and great taste nowadays. Please show us your talents too!
