"Classic brunch dishes get a Central European twist at Capital Club 16. The Bavarian breakfast comes with grilled Bavarian sausages, sauerkraut, roasted potatoes, a fried egg, and red wine gravy. The G’Roastl is hearty dish of roasted pork, braised beef brisket, caramelized onion, and Alpine cheese blend, scrambled with eggs and pretzel dumplings. There’s a schnitzel sandwich and, in a nod to location, Grandma Bonnie’s sausage gravy served with a biscuit, as well as a beer and wine list that also leans German." - Matt Lardie

Amazing! Located in a historic building, the restaurant serves American-German fusion specialties. Everything was perfect: the place has a real charm, its own style (even the toilets look cool, with all their stickers) inspired by Art Deco architecture (the chairs!!!), and the staff was super SUPER friendly. I'm really looking forward to coming back, next time I'm in Raleigh.

We tried this restaurant after hearing about it from a family friend. I have traveled all over Germany and finding authentic German and Central European food is somewhat challenging in NC. Everything here was great and the second I tasted my first sip of the draft beer I immediately was hit with nostalgic memories of traveling through Bavaria and southern Germany. We ordered the pretzel, Maultaschen, schnitzel sandwich, and sausage sampler and German portage salad. The food was fantastic and tasted like what you would get in Europe. I definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner out or date night!

I've always had amazing times and meals at CC16, whether it's family brunch or date night or even private events in the restaurant. Everything about the restaurant feels homey and inviting from the decor to the service and the menu. It's an icon of downtown Raleigh and I'm devastated that it's closing. I'll be going back a few more times in the coming week to support them and say goodbye. It's a hard loss but I'm looking forward to following and supporting their future ventures with their food truck.

Love the overall vibe of this place. Casually cool, laid back, friendly, and the food is simple with a focus on quality. Everything tasted amazing and very fresh. PSA- you must order the shanny fries. They are exceptional. Freshly made fries cooked perfectly and tossed with flavorful herbs, plated with 3 tasty scratch-made sauces. 10/10 I ordered the cheesesteak special, which I thought tasted more like a pot roast sandwich than the flavor of cheesesteak. It was very good, and made delicious by dipping it into their tomato soup which tastes like marinara in the best way. Husband had the chicken club sandwich and devoured it with rave reviews. Add this restaurant to your list!

It was a cloudy and drizzly Wednesday afternoon. We wanted to do a team lunch and decided to go here. We didn’t have reservations but they were able to make room for us in the back. This place has some of the best sandwiches and burgers in Raleigh. Great service and great quality food. They have a good location in the heart of downtown and is a perfect lunch spot. They also have a good brunch from what I hear. Will need to check our again.

Rahmschnizel My wife and I came in and enjoyed some terrific German style food during Raleigh Restaurant Week. A couple pro tips, they only serve beer and wine for alcohol, no liquor. When we were there wine was $12/glass and $48/bottle which was not obvious on a quick scan of the online menu. Anyway we ended up with a bottle of sparkling rose that was good. The food was all great. The Capital Club Salad was delicious lightly but evenly dressed and was a nice way to start. The potato cakes were crispy yumminess. The Brat Bite Sampler was great with two different styles of mild German sausage a healthy amount of tasty sauerkraut, delicious stone ground mustard, and some of the best bistro style fries I have had anywhere. My favorite dish was the Rahmschnizel, thin cut pork tenderloin well seasoned served on spaetzle (a small rustic noodle/dumpling) topped with a rich buttery mushroom sauce that all comes together for a decadent bite of meaty buttery goodness. We finished with the strudel, I’m not a strudel person but it was good and my wife, who is a strudel person, was fighting to make sure I didn’t eat too much of it so she could eat the rest. Bottom line, it’s good, check it out, even if you don’t know if you like German food, you probably do and the folks here will help you pick something you will love.

Google
The food was 10/10. Great flavors and very reasonable prices for what you’re getting. We came for Sunday brunch and had a reservation. Host was very kind and was clearly doing all he could to help. Our server was very very slow. She was kind but it took almost 15 minutes for her to come to our table after we were seated and took a pretty long amount of time for the checks. She was still nice though. Would definitely come back.

Tried this place for restaurant week and also ordered off their regular dinner menu. Everything we tried was delicious and we absolutely plan to come back! It is such an unassuming place that we wouldn’t pick if we walked past it but we are so glad we stumbled across it because there is so much more on the menu we want to try. The restaurant is categorized as “new american” but their menu feels like home cooked German traditional food. The service was great and the ambiance was very calm. Although there only seemed to be one waiter for the entire restaurant he was really on the ball and we never felt neglected. All of the dishes came out in a timely manner and our drinks never ran dry. Shout out to the hostess who was considerate of things happening outside of the restaurant like a flickering street light and accommodated moving guests to different tables to be less affected by the light coming in the windows.

Yelp
Capital Club 16 in Downtown Raleigh was once a hidden gem but it is well known now with a line out the door before opening. It is still the great restaurant though and they still serve the schnitzel. It is located in the Capital Club Building that was built in 1929. The high ceilings and the windows make Capital Club 16 inviting in this Art Deco Building. I like the historic feel and the bar is a piece of art in itself. Capital Club 16 started taking reservations a few years back so getting a reservation at this smaller restaurant is the way to go. Service was fantastic here as well as my schnitzel. The flavors of the pork and sides just went together so well. I tried the apple strudel as well and was pleased with the dessert as well. Will definitely be back at Capital Club 16 more frequently.

Yelp
I've been there a few times always expecting for food to be exceptional and while the servers are super nice, the food is below average the hamburger overcooked the sandwiches just blonde boring. I don't think that would return based on the quality of the food.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my favorite meal in Raleigh in awhile. Here is why: The food was great! I really enjoyed my schnitzel. I loved the addition of an egg on top. I also loved that it came with nice sides (purple cabbage and mushrooms and potatoes). I liked the dessert even more than my schnitzel. The Apple strudel I had for dessert was super flaky and delicious. It definitely tasted like it was made fresh. It seems like they only have one dessert option a day. The prices were really low considering what I got. This schnitzel portion was about $15. In downtown Raleigh, I would have expected to pay more for such a big portion of such good food. I was very happy with the value. I thought the service was good too! Finally, the interior felt really fun. The windows were open and there was a lot of natural light! It felt vaguely European, and I love the wooden tables.

Yelp
**FAB GERMAN RESTAURANT IN DOWNTOWN RALEIGH** Sign me up for legit, good German food in Raleigh! PARKING ======== Metered or download PASSPORT PARKING to pay (up to 2 hours) during weekdays. LUNCH (11:30am-2pm) ====== SPARGELSUPP - $6 One of my favorite German soups of all-time! White asparagus soup topped with chives and rye croutons could use a bit more cream, otherwise, tasted wonderful with the provided sliced toasts. RATING: 4/5 DAILY ORDINARY - $16 Chose the Black Forest Ham and Spargel pie with a mixed green salad and a fountain drink (opted for water instead). Again, white asparagus was my JAM and the pie tasted super delicious. Not salty, perfectly seasoned and flavored. RATING: 5/5 APPLE STRUDEL - $12 Homemade with a side of vanilla ice cream. Not too sweet, tasted wonderful. Again, a solid choice. A bit expensive for dessert, but hey it's inflation, and worth the calories. RATING: 4/5 OVERALL ======== Service was awesome and full of friendly people. I'll be returning for dinner. RECOMMEND!

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant! Great location. Have dined a few times. There was a brunette employee who was really crabby towards me for forgetting my pepper spray. I felt bad and tried to explain it was a mistake but she still insisted on being mean, making me feel uncomfortable and ultimately worse. Had I known, I would've retrieved my belongings without speaking to her to avoid embarrassment. Don't know if it was racially motivated but I won't be returning.

K K.

Yelp
The servers were friendly but food took 45 minutes to come out and was awful quality when we finally got it. I wanted to come before they closed because I'd heard such great things but it was a terrible experience and I regret wasting my time and money here.

Yelp
INTRO: Lovely American restaurant in Euro deco offering delicious food at good price. Farmsr veggie bowl: Delicious vegetables, eggs and beet root Parking: If you don't get street parking, parking can be an issue. The nearest paid parking lot is 1 mile or so Ambience and Service: They have indoor bar seating and tables. Place is clean and well maintained. Service was amazing and professional.

Gary W.

Yelp
Nice spot, very friendly staff. Food choice is fairly limited and good, but not great. Fried pickle and zucchini appetizer is pretty standard fried food, Brat Bite main with fries and kraut was good, but could have done as well at home. Kasespatzle was OK, side of schnitzel was good. I'd probably go again for lunch, but probably not a top dinner choice.

Chas B.

Yelp
Great place for a nice lunch. Predominately German menu. Reasonable prices, friendly service.

Katie T.

Yelp
Schnitzel... Isn't that one of the best words? I'd heard about Capital Club for years but had not ever tried it. Offline Raleigh gave me a good excuse. Intrigued, I ordered the schnitzel sandwich as I'd never tried it before. It was kind of like a breaded pork chop mixed with a McDonald's chicken sandwich. The garlic aioli was good, but I think it could be more spicy. Overall, the sandwich could use more zing. The fries were tasty. I ordered a side salad with fruit and it didn't come with any fruit. Overall, I felt the food was just average. There's construction going on in front of the restaurant, so curbside parking is not the easiest. I parked on Salisbury at the light with West Martin and that was the closest I could get. Turn your hazard lights on so they know it's you.

Jeff L.

Yelp
Came here during restaurant week in Raleigh. Got the Schnitzel. Very good. Also very pricy for the amount or lack of food that was sent out. Would consider a return trip during Oktoberfest to experience the atmosphere.

Yelp
Bottom line: Capital Club 16 gave a good meal during a recent Dine Out Downtown weekend night. A nice Schnitzel Sandwich with fries on the side, combined with good service. I am a fan! The Deets: To enjoy my first night out to downtown Raleigh in over a year, I decided to participate in one of the Dine Out Downtown events on a weekend night where there is a designated street closed off so there can be dining outside for local restaurants along that street. I made my choice to start my night going to Capital Club 16, a place that I have not been to for years I think. The staff was very welcoming and I was placed at a table outside that was socially distanced from other tables. I started my meal out with ordering a very nice Precipitation beer (a German-Style Pilsner from local Clouds Brewing), and it hit the spot. For my meal, I ordered a Schnitzel Sandwich from their menu which is a breaded pork cutlet with lettuce, herb aioli on a brioche bun (I skipped the tomato and onion), with a side of their fries. It did the trick for a simple but very delicious meal on a weekend night...the cutlet was done just right, not over done like a lot of schnitzel can be found then combined with the aioli and brioche bun made for a nice combination for the taste buds to enjoy. The fries were not like a conventional side of fries, very tasty and well done. Service was good and took care of everything well. I enjoyed my first night out to enjoy a DTR meal in over a year and happy that I made Capital Club 16 the destination for it.

Mark D.

Yelp
Really cool laid back spot downtown. Food is solid, but limited. What they do, they do well. I do wish their German potato salad was warm, but it was still delicious.

Stephanie J.

Yelp
This is a good dinner option in Downtown Raleigh. The menu is American with a European flair. They had two beers on draft, the rest are bottles or cans. I went with the Trophy Cloud Surfer IPA and my husband went with the Hofbrau Dunkel. We split the pimento cheese fig crostini's and the soup du jour (a potato soup) next. For our meals it was the brat bite sampler for me and the local beef brisket with a side of fruit for my husband. The food and service were both great. Seating is limited due to COVID-19 so a reservation on Resy is highly recommended.

Jodie C.

Yelp
I got the vegetarian schnitzel, which tasted good. However, they say they use heirloom tomatoes in it. It was just a regular tomato. I make a big deal about this because heirloom tomatoes are more expensive and taste differently from just any tomato. So why would they charge me the same price for lesser quality ingredients and then lie to me about it on their menu too?

Michelle S.

Yelp
Delicious German good, fabulous service and a cozy atmosphere. We can't wait to go back!

Jason S.

Yelp
This restaurant is a fun place to eat. My wife and I sat at the bar for drinks and dinner and had a really fun time talking with the bar tender and other people sitting at the bar. The food was good and they accommodated for food allergies. A plus is they have German beer on tap.

Alyssa C.

Yelp
Came for brunch and was surprised as to how fast this place can fill up! Luckily we for here right when they open so had no problem getting a table. I had the French toast which was amazing. The only problem was it was impossible for me to finish it! The maple bourbon syrup and strawberries were great compliments to the French toast. I was surprised that even with such a large portion it came with the grit cake. The grit cake wasn't want I expected because usually it's more solid and have a fried texture this one was served and a skillet and was still the usual consistency of grits but the top layer of cheese did add a great touch. I can honestly say this is a great value for a downtown brunch especially considering the portion sizes.

Megan S.

Yelp
Highly recommend the mimosa tray during Sunday brunch! I didn't get food, but my friend really liked the grilled cheese that he got. Smaller in size, so make sure to have a reservation if with a bigger group

Tresa W.

Yelp
Love this place for brunch but lunch is lacking. Brunch is amazing and lunch is just plain blah! Been here over 30 times for brunch and continues to amaze. Lunch is lackluster, blah, boring. Skip lunch and only go for Brunch. Lost 2 stars for sad lunch. Went a few times and nope lunch is just not happening. Food comes out barely warm and just plain thrown together. Also brunch mimosas and bloody Mary prices r high for the area.

A A.

Yelp
Stop by for brunch around noon. This place was packed. I was greeted by a friendly waitress. I ordered Fried eggs Florentine, the eggs were cooked perfection. So flavorful and I really enjoy the dish. I know I'm asking too much, but it would be nice to have tea selection with amazing meal.

Anne P.

Yelp
You can't fake good food and good drinks! Capital Club 16 has some good stuff! Alex at the bar did a wonderful job with my old fashioned with home marinated cherries. I got to try the gin concoction, the Sir Walter Raleigh which was so good! The pretzel, soup and brisket sliders were so yummy and the venison and pork pie is a must have! I'll be back for your sangria next week!

Abby K.

Yelp
Awesome downtown dinner spot with wonderful cocktails! They are conveniently located next to Neptune's and King's so it is a great place to get food before a show there. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Most recently, my friend and I stopped in for a quick bite before heading to a comedy show so we to sat at the bar. Due to time constraints, we decided on splitting a sandwich and were torn between the Schnitzel or the Pastrami so we asked the bartender to weigh in and went with the Schnitzel. It was amazing! The crispy breading on the pork combined with the softness of the bun and creamy jalapeño aioli provided a wonderful combination of textures and flavors without being overwhelming. All of their sandwiches come with fries, fruit or a salad. Since we were splitting one we went with the fries and, knowing how good their other aiolis are from dining here in the past, got a side of that for dipping. I always love when places have mezcal cocktails so when I saw the Buenas Noches Amigo on their specialty cocktail list, I just had to get it- It was divine! Will absolutely be back soon to enjoy their skillet Mac & Cheese and try some of their seasonal menu items soon.

Sam N.

Yelp
Really good food and ambiance. Went on a Thursday night killing time. Beer is good I believe things may have a German root. $6 burger fantastic for that price and how quick they get it out. Two dirtbags rolled in right before close and Kat(maybe Cat?) handled them like a pro. I will be back. Beautiful space.

Tricity A.

Yelp
Went here for a date night. We had about a 20 minute wait, but that was fine because we got drinks at the bar. We did have the option to eat at the bar, but thought it'd be worth it to just wait for a table. We split the sausage plate (2 kinds of sausage and bacon, potato salad, sauerkraut) and schnitzel (with mashed potatoes and salad) and both were very good and very hearty. I hadn't been here before, mostly because I had a perception of it being expensive, but it really wasn't that expensive. Prices were decent for dinner and we even got 2 of the more expensive dinner options. There were a lot of sandwiches and entree options.

Tracy C.

Yelp
The TL;DR for Capital Club is basically that it's alright. This restaurant/cafe is German themed, but unfortunately German food is not known for being particularly delicious. I popped in here with my boyfriend for lunch and to escape the heat that is a Raleigh summer. There wasn't much of a wait since there was a food truck festival nearby, so we were seated quickly. The decor and the ambience were quite nice, and I was really looking forward to a good lunch! We got the fries to start with, and those with the sauces were delicious. I got the pork belly special and my boyfriend got the white asparagus special. The pork belly special came with cooked vegetables, a raw salad, and mashed potatoes. The pork belly and the sauce were absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes were... lumpy? The cooked vegetables and raw salad ran into each other on the plate, so I could never really tell whether I was about to bite into a crunchy raw carrot or a much better steamed carrot. The combination of the two were just strange, but thank goodness the main focus of the plate was delicious. The white asparagus special also came with a side of salad even though the main event was already steam/braised white asparagus. Just like the pork belly special, the star of the dish was good, but the rest of the plate didn't make much sense. Although, is anything really bad when you smother it in Hollaindaise sauce? In looking over the reviews, it seems like Capital Club is a great place for drinks and an average place for food. So for bar food and drinks, this place is probably great. For a main meal, perhaps look elsewhere in Raleigh.

Laurie V.

Yelp
Good, solid lunch. Surprisingly, as many times as I walk past here, I have never eaten here until the other day. House-made fries are really good. Burger was good. Ambiance is nice. I like the history and the old-time feel. Service is friendly and efficient.

Anne G.

Yelp
First of all: I am obsessed with their wedge salad. It is a Cobb salad elevated. So many flavors and textures it's perfect. Wish I snagged a picture when I ate there tonight. Love the German beer selection and the authentic glassware they serve it in. Makes for such a fun experience. Had the Spargelzeit special with added Soft Shell Crab and it was mouth watering. Hollandaise sauce complimented the fried soft shell crab so well. Potatoes and tomatoes it came with were cooked perfectly. Service was spot on as well! Super laid back and helpful. Can't wait to come back again to have another wedge salad and fun entree.

Alexander N.

Yelp
Walked downtown to eat, as I do on the weekends, and I hadn't been here in a while so I decided to give them a go again. Walked in just as the lunch rush was wrapping up, about 1:15pm, and asked for a table. Host told me they had a big reservation so they offered me a bar stool, and I accepted. Fought with the Wi-Fi for about 5 mins before giving up, it kept dropping after about 15 seconds. Probably won't matter to most, but it's worth noting. I noticed things clearing up, and also noticed their big reservation party had arrived. I had noticed on my way in an empty table with a cheque signed, so I asked if I could get a table now that things have cleared up. He then shook his head, and told me "that's not how it really works," "my food's already on the way out," continuing to say it's up to the host or something whether or not I get a seat. I then asked him again, "so can I get a table?" with visible confusion, he rolled his eyes and said "I can go ahead and close you out. Whatever makes you happy," printed out the slip for the food and slung it onto the counter. The staff's behaviour was so callous and unprofessional that I walked out before the food came. It's clear there is no sense of cooperation or teamwork between the front staff, let alone the back, and it's also painfully apparent the staff themselves don't care at all about customer service, thinking it's their place to "tell us how it is". This is classic Southern delusion that the rules of society somehow work differently for them than they do for any other wait staff, and it makes our whole city look bad. Raleigh does better than this.

Olivia P.

Yelp
DIned here for the first time on Tuesday night and this place rocks! I loved the retro vibe, I loved the tatted bartender chick who makes a kick-ass margarita and I loved our server Zo who was always there when we needed her, like magic! She was kind enough to ask about allergies when I omitted the sunflower seeds from my meal and she was super friendly like a really knowledgeable foodie-buddy. Cheese Board- so freakin good! Not sure what was sprinkled on the goat cheese but it was excellent! Loved every single cheese on the board especially the bleu cheese and the aged cheddar. Came with sliced apples, candied walnuts and a huge bread basket full of crusty delicious bread! Omg absolute decadence! "Spring Crisp Salad"- I think this was called something else when we went but same awesome ingredients and the maple vinaigrette takes it to another level! The Sparrow Sandwich-ooey gooey melted brie, baby spinach, apples, caramelized onions, and a honey mustard aoli tasty enough to make you lick your fingers! Tomato Soup-tangy and yummy, more like soup than a traditional bisque! The soup itself is great but the herbs and shaved parm on top make it an A+! This place easily earned 5/5 stars and it is conveniently located in downtown Raleigh just a few blocks from work! I'm a fan!

Mikkel W.

Yelp
I'm giving it 4 stars because I like the ambience and that it's downtown (close to where I live) but the missing additional star is because of our waiter, Ryan, who just didn't care about our table if 5. We went at 8pm on a Tuesday. We had a reservation but it wasn't fully packed anyway. We ordered drinks and the waiter came back to say they were out of the bottle of wine that was ordered. And a couple of food items. We wish he told us before we ordered. Anyway... The food was delicious. We ordered the pimento cheese and fig crostinis, the wedge salad and some people in the group got sandwiches and one got the farmer's market rice bowl. All awesome. Would definitely recommend. Parking can be tricking because it's just street parking. And I think any party larger than 6 is a bit difficult. But they do take reservations for that amount. Good for a date, after dinner drinks, night out with friends - nice vibe. Just wish the waiter we had cared.

Carol C.

Yelp
I like this place. It's a cute restaurant that I went to for brunch today. I wanted to eat light so I got the winter crisp salad. The portion size is just right. We received great attentive service and I will be back for sure! I just wish their menu for brunch was larger but that's fine.

Jen S.

Yelp
We had high hopes for Offline Raleigh takeout! It was okay, but no parking at all due to construction so takeout was hard. It was also 12 minutes late being ready. Luckily I had a ride who lapped the area waiting for me. Food was okay, nothing great other than that bacon! .... but with a lackluster staff we wouldn't run back quickly, especially to eat in. Mac and cheese portions we're generous though!

Karen G.

Yelp
Spending the weekend in Chapel Hill and decided to venture out for late Sunday lunch/brunch. Yelped the Capital Club 16 in downtown Raleigh and decided it looked interesting! It is def worth the drive!! We ordered French toast and a pork schnitzel, cider mimosa, Bloody Mary...outstanding! Our waiter, Kiersten was super friendly and loaded with fun facts about the resurgence of downtown Raleigh. Chapel Hill is idyllic...if you are looking for an idyllic brunch experience, head into Raleigh and make sure one of your stops is Capital Club 16!!

JP S.

Yelp
Nice place for lunch and excellent service. We ordered a couple of sandwiches with the German potato salad and accompanied it with some sweet tea. The sandwiches were at a nice temperature when they arrived and were not too heavy. I'm not in Raleigh too often for lunch but I'd go back to Capital Club 16 for sure.

Ron W.

Yelp
Open for only three weeks or so, Capital Club 16 is another great entry in the Raleigh food scene! This small corner spot on Martin Street has been revived (used to be Champa Thai) with a very European cafe feel: clean, uncluttered white space, interesting stools/chairs, some dark woodwork and a lot of glass and sunshine. Seating is limited at the bar and dining room and from what I can see, the place can get loud quickly! Capital Club 16 is self-described as traditional American but it's got some strong German influences, achtung baby! On the menu there's potato pancakes, a schnitzel sandwich and other Germanic goodies. My pretzel appetizer was a soft, beauty that came with a pungent cheese dipping sauce, great stuff! The Golden Buck burger was also delicious, they did a great job cooking the egg on top JUST right so it didn't ooze all over the sandwich. My friend's butcher plate had a fantastic looking piece of grilled pork fatback, I wanted to lean over, spear it and scarf it down while he wasn't looking... It's obvious they care about their food here with quality ingredients and a talented chef! While the food was all really good and the service was friendly, the kitchen was backed up. We had a bit of a wait between courses... But since it's only been open a short while, I'm sure they're still working out the kinks in the kitchen. All I can say is the Capital Club 16 is a really interesting little spot. Traditional European decor, great food and attentive service at a reasonable price in downtown Raleigh. Yeah, I know that Durhamites think they've got the best food in the area but I gotta say that Raleigh may have quietly surpassed the Bull City, shhhh...

Lori R.

Yelp
Can't believe it's been literally years since we've been here (shame on us!), although we have attempted to get in for Sunday brunch before and the wait was too long. This Sunday, we were fortunate to have six of us and reservations. They do not take reservations for less than six people, so grab family or friends, make a reservation and you will be guaranteed a table in this small restaurant. It's small but widely deserving of the crowds that throng to it for this brunch. The quality is excellent for the prices. In addition to the regular menu items, they have specials that are tempting as well. Today they had a tilefish sandwich and a kale cheese sandwich special, for instance, plus a poutine. Four of our six went with a regular menu item, The Bavarian Brunch Platter: "Grilled Schaller and Weber sausage, slab bacon, sauerkraut, kale, roasted potatoes and a fried egg served with mustards 13" Husband tried the "Schnitzel a la Holstein Pork tenderloin cutlet with pepper jack grits, red wine gravy, mixed vegetables and a fried egg 13". (he requested his egg scrambled though...blasphemy! but he liked it) And they were able to accommodate Stepmom's desire for simplicity, with scrambled eggs and fresh fruit. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Husband's came out a few minutes after the rest of us, but he was amply rewarded for the wait with freshness and flavor. Sister's meal was lacking the red sauce that the rest of ours had, but when she pointed it out, they brought her some. I do believe it was a red wine gravy that Husband's meal came with. Mine could have used just a bit more sauerkraut, but it was all good. And the sausage with that mustard...yum! Just love that you can have the ordinary or the extraordinary here...all done exceptionally well!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Capital Club for a long time, and I'm so glad I did! The location is great for people watching, it's got a ton of natural lighting, and it's in an older building (I love that). There's a really cool backstory about the furniture and fixtures also. I had a dry apple cider and water (my sister had the same). I had the Currywurst appetizer with the wedge salad. It was so so good, and just the right amount of food! I was satisfied without being stuffed. The app came with fries, house cut with a great seasoning blend. The Bleu cheese dressing on the salad was perfection. My sister had the pimento cheese crostini app, which we both loved. We thought it would be weird with a fig and apple jelly on top but it was surprisingly delicious. She also had the wedge salad. I'll definitely go back.

Yelp
The saga continued as we visited Capital Club 16 tonight. What does the 16 stand for? 16 levels of complexity? Maybe. I was expecting "American" and I guess there was some of that on the menu, but we definitely enjoyed the schnitz-xperience here at the One Six. Yes I'll continue with the numerical references all through the review. The Rahmschnitzel looked amazing and my colleague was envious as they accidentally served me with her dish. My beef brisket with mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, and Brussels was wonderfully prepared and super-comfort food. It had a trendy foreign name which I can't remember. Apparently the shaved Brussels salad was great as was the soup du jour. Another colleague said the cheese sandwich was worth whatever you value in life, so I say try that. It took nearly the entire meal for our waiter to warm up to me, but I have that effect on people (not really I'm the nicest guy in the universe, come on people). Finally I got a smile when I ordered the key lime pie--for some reason I guess that breaks the ice? Nice tart flavor and huge vanilla ice cream scoop to keep this ice cream lover happy. Also I should have gone for broke and ordered double-dessert since they had strawberry rhubarb pie as well. I enjoyed the local draft I picked, although I got a "no" when I asked about whether there were wheats on the menu, again hilarious, as this is the first restaurant ever that didn't at least have something they could pass off as wheat even if it wasn't. But a good time was had by all, and I'll return when I get the chance. Spoiler alert: 16 is the address, and the minimum number of flair.

Yelp
Went out with some friends earlier this week for dinner & drinks. There were 8 of us, so it was nice we could be accommodated. Our waiter was fantastic. The place is rather small, but has a very vintage feel, which I adored. Sadly, personally, I didn't really find much for cocktails (I don't drink much) or find anything truly appealing to eat. I decided just to stick with water & for my meal I chose the mac 'n cheese & added a brat. We didn't wait long for our food to arrive & every one's meal looked yummy. My mac 'n cheese was ok - I could have used more cheese & I am partial to southern style mac 'n cheese. The brat was OK, a bit overcooked. The salad with fruit in it was the best! I did enjoy it. Prices fall in line with the "ambiance" of the restaurant, so no surprise there. Street parking only.

Yelp
Jake and the staff at Capitol club 16 do a great job of being non assuming and treat guests with respect and class. Veggie and rice bowl was an exceptionally good way to blend flavors and tastes. Roasted pork tenderloin was delicious with aoli Blends etc. Finished with a Stein of October fest half liter of local beer! Yum

Yelp
We ducked in for a quick brunch on a rainy Raleigh Saturday. The food was excellent, especially the shrimp eggs Benedict and the specialty cider Mimosa rimmed with cinnamon sugar. If you get past the somewhat surly maitre de, you will love it.

Yelp
Back when I was around 11 years old (could've been 16 honestly), before I would go to bed, I would mute my computer speakers and put "Turn the Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan on repeat so it would be listed as my Top Most Played Song on my iTunes library. Anyway, love the food here.

Yelp
Endless spaghetti?! No way and it's under $11? Say whatttt---? it was amazing!!! The service was super prompt and nice, the salad was a nice portion as well. They have a pretty good beer and cocktail selection. The interior of the restaurant has a cozy, familiar, and old European feel. They also have samplers (depending on the day, i think it's a once in a blue moon thing) of cheese and small bites to enjoy with your meal. Which is kind of cool and I mean, who doesn't love cheese? While there isn't a dress code here I do recommend to not come in in regular street clothes as it is a pretty nice place.

Yelp
First of all - the name confuses me. I get Capital Club 16, City Club, and the grand ballroom on the 12th floor of the Capital Club Building confused with each other. Too many capital city club things! I have been to Capital Club 16 (ah, yes! the restaurant!) twice now. On my first visit, I remember that I ordered the Portobello Grilled Cheese and just felt a bit underwhelmed by my the whole experience. It took me awhile to come back but I went back for dinner recently during SPARKcon. I sat outside and had the Pimento Cheese and Fig Crostinis and the Austrian Steak and Fries. The crostinis were amazing and the steak and fries were just alright. Our server was attentive and nice enough, but definitely had a hipster vibe about her. Don't get me wrong! It's a cute, trendy place with a great location but I just can't get into it more than an A-OK. I really wish I could do half stars, as I feel that my experiences have been 3.5 stars. I have to round down though because this really is not on the top of my list for recommendations of Downtown Raleigh restaurants. I have nothing against this place, I suppose that it just doesn't wow me. I haven't had their brunch, maybe that's where the wow factor is?

Yelp
I've only been to Capital club 16 twice. Both times I ordered off their occasional grand prix fix menu. The grand prix menu for restaurant week was $35 and their grand prix fix menu for nye was $45. A great price and the quality is great. I described the food as German American fusion. I had the lamb chops medium with some German side dished like Brussels sprouts, mashed potato mixed with somthing in it, and some type of squashed sweet potato I think. Their deserts are house made and fresh. The appetizers are okay. I also think the interior of the place has this kinda of 1940s German cafe look to it. This is a must restaurant in downtown Raleigh.

Yelp
As much as I've tried to get into the love that people have for Capital Club 16, I just can't help feeling "A-OK" after every visit. I highly recommend hitting them on a Sunday or weekday, because this place is the young professionals jam: it's always crowded and thus ensures for a noisy evening. I don't think I've been to a noisier restaurant, thus I can't recommend them for any type of intimate setting or date night (even double date night) atmosphere. It's too bad honestly, because the building itself is beautiful inside and out with fabulous decorations and even a lovely floral arrangement at every table. They usually have a handful of unique drafts and cocktails, although one might say too unique, and usually $1 up-charged for beers compared to bars around the area. You'll find a German-themed menu here with various rotating specials. I've tried numerous dishes and drinks: salads, soups, entrees, pretzels, mulled wine, etc. They have unique touches (like their assortment of mugs) but it's just not enough to pull them to a great rating in my opinion. On my most recent visit I ordered a specialty salad served with a scotch egg, figs goat cheese and vinaigrette. It was great, and to be honest, I've always been very pleased with their salads. We also tried the wild bore, served over a bed of rice with a side salad. It was good, but needed an extra punch of flavor to have wowed me. Overall, Capital Club 16 is good but not great. They serve some tasty dishes, but they're just a little over priced for the quality and party atmosphere setting. If you're going to give them a visit, just go for it and attend one of their events, they're jam-packed, but make for a great party, and it's going to be nosy and crowded either way, but at least you'll expect that at an event.

Yelp
I went to brunch here and it was ~okay~. Nothing really stood out to me and the service needed improvement. I got the brunch burger, which was decent but the fries were cold and soggy. Our waiter also rushed us and barely visited the table.

Yelp
This place was pretty good. The best part of my meal were the fries. They were matchstick crisp which I love. I ordered the special which was the roasted duck hogie. It was pretty good, but next time I will order something else. I was happy with the fries. I also tried the spatzel which was made I house. It was very fresh and I wish that the menu would have allowed me to order a bowl of just the spatzel. I also had the hot cider whiskey. That was also pretty good, considering the cold night that we went. It was a very clean restaurant, but I cannot speak for the bathrooms, since I did not partake in using in the facilities. The wait staff was kind. This is good for small groups. It is a quiet place, not recommended to bring kids. This is not a bar, it's fairly classy.

Yelp
I would give Capital Club 16 a low four. Our group was given good service. It's nice enough inside, the food just didn't really wow me, it's just a taste preference thing. The pimento crostini was probably my favourite. Basically chopped up pimento on sourdough bread (six pieces) with jam and a slice of fig on top. Nice flavor, but needed more figs. The cheese platter has a nice variety of cheese, but the bread that comes with it is too hard. The fries are good, thin cut, not too dry, not too soft. The portobello avocado grilled cheese is a big portion for 10 dollars, but a little bit dry, overcooked and really not that much mushroom. Also had mac n cheese, can never really go wrong with that, I think the cheese was good quality, but if it was creamier it would have been better. You get a nice little fruit and salad bowl on the side.
