My husband and I paid off a Capital One credit card in October. Capital one gave us a payoff balance and we paid it and closed it. Today, January 4th, we were told we had a $30 remaining balance in arrears, and we owed $100 in late fees. What the actual entire heck is happening that this company can’t determine an accurate payoff, and two, when they do miss it by $30, why won’t they waive late fees for an account they closed? It seems poor practice at best and scammy at worst to think this company needs to nickel and dime people in this petty manner. We had discussed getting a new Capital One card for emergencies…not now. We’ll never do business with them again.
