The Best Restaurants to Eat at While Stoned in Seattle - Eater Seattle

"Shota Nakajima’s Capitol Hill chicken restaurant serves flavorful twice-fried karaage with a number of sauces and dry seasonings. Nakajima’s culinary philosophy centers around packing his dishes with umami, a flavor that makes dishes satisfying by letting your body know (or tricking it into believing) that you are consuming protein. For a satisfying sauce option, try the spicy teriyaki." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart

❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️⭐️ I love public transportation and we have a modern transportation system under Seattle and soon it will reach south and north and east side. Yes people may be sleeping or doing drugs, maybe some panhandling but other then that I have never had a problem riding the bus’s or sound transit light rail. Other than the fair enforcers like if people can’t afford to ride are you telling me then we should just kick them off?? I pay because I can pay and there’s been times I haven’t been able to pay and the shame you feel when you get picked on by the mean fake cops and it’s just not fair to do that to poor people. The elevator was working and so was the escalators, but the elevators have always worked for me. Thank you sound transit.

Google
Great station in capital hill area of Seattle ....lots of businesses and restaurants, residents etc ....its kinda a mixture of hood /hipster vibe here

Google
Recently, I had a chance to visit this station. It is well maintained, clean, and safe. However, I had some complaints about the elevators since they smelt bad due to cigarette smoke. I am grateful for the beauty and safety of this station. I hope Seattle city will pay more attention to its metro system so people can commute easily, efficiently, and quickly via light rails

Google
Filthy. A man was riding a $300 bike, blew his nose into napkin and threw it on the ground. There's trash everywhere. Everywhere in capital hill is filthy including this station.

Google
There is a park and flea market neayby that make me walk and find pleasantly.

Google
Decent station well monitored by security and frequent trains. Adequate signage to navigate. No benches is annoying though as a disabled individual it's difficult for me to stand for prolonged periods. Also like most Seattle subway stations it smells like pee.

Google
Service is quick. Convenient. Needs a little more cleaning. There is always security and it is safe! Elevators have a bad smell, other than that everything is great!

Rebekah Harper

Google
Always people openly doing drugs, the escalator is frequently out of service, people smoking and peeing in the elevator, and I never feel safe when waiting for the train at night. No bathroom, no place to sit while you wait and pigeon poop everywhere on the stairs. I don't like bringing my son to this station because of the open drug use and feels pretty unsafe the majority of the time. It's really unfortunate.

Yelp
The Capitol Hill station is conveniently located and easy to access with different exits. It's well maintained and kept fairly clean. I have an orca card that I scan before hopping on but when I have friends from out of town, they use the little machine on the side to buy their ticket. Depending on the day, some areas near the station can get a little busy or dirty, but it's also Capitol Hill.

Yelp
For the Capitol Hill area, this station was kept relatively clean. The closer you get to one of the station entrances/exits, the dirtier it gets. I'm usually only here in the daytime and pretty much just to get some burgers at the nearby Dick's Drive-In.

Yelp
Ended up taking the Capitol Hill station to Northgate. Everything is well-lit, and the platform is fairly clean. Trains runs every 10 minutes or so, and it's easy to navigate.

Yelp
Conveniently located in busy Capitol Hill right off Broadway. It was $3 for a ticket to get me from Capitol Hill to the Sea Tac airport which is a good distance. There was security on the platform which I was happy about as underground subway places feel a little sketch to me. I saw a ticket checker on the train once on the route but no one ever actually checked tickets. Morning and mostly business or travellers, one sleeper. Mostly felt safe and not too dirty. Good value for the ride.

Yelp
Decent train station. There are escalators going up and I believe I have seen elevators which will make it easy to carry luggage. There are proper directions everywhere. There is a tram station and a bus station right outside the light rail station. Never had an issue here.

Yelp
This station is very dirty. The floors, the walls, the seating, the buttons on the elevator. I understand budgets may be tight, but this is a public safety matter - find the salary for a full time custodian - Covid is not all that far behind us! Have we learned nothing about how precious our health is? On the positives, the trains come on time and there usually is a public safety officer in the morning.
google avatar

Yelp
Always dirty. Elevators are unclean and smell like urine. Almost always one escalator is broken down. Security is now visible, although I think it's for show only. Disappointing in every context of public transport.

Yelp
This station is a great addition to Capitol Hill. I remember I used to take the bus up here when the light rail wasn't around. Since they extended the light rail from Westlake it's so much easier to get up here. I think of Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Posse On Broadway" whenever I reach the surface. Macklemore also filmed his music videos "Thrift Shop" and "White Walls" on Capitol Hill too. Commissioned art are "Jet Kiss", "Crossed Pinkies", and "Walking Fingers". Capitol Hill is one of my favorite neighborhoods. If you have time don't forget to check out H-Mart's urban version of their grocery store, M2M Mart. You'll find me eating a deluxe with fries from Dick's or walking up the stairs to Tacos Chukis, walking around the wood floors at Elliott Bay Book Company, playing classic arcade games in the basement of Unicorn, and catching a show at Neumos. Hanging out with friends at Cal Anderson. Playing pool or grabbing some bowling shoes at the Garage. This is also the closest station to Volunteer Park. Hop on that #10 or #49 bus to get here. Catch a sunset, find the Black Sun, spend the day at the Seattle Asian Art Museum, or climb the water tower. During the summer a Metro shuttle bus can take you up to some hiking trails in Snoqualmie where pickup is right outside the station https://trailheaddirect.org/ Capitol Hill has a lot to offer and luckily there's a station that will bring you right to the heart of the neighborhood.

Yelp
As with other stations on the Seattle Link system, this one is easy to navigate with good signage. There is plenty of light, it has full handicapped access. There are overhead signs announcing the next train and audible announcements, too. Escalators and elevators from the platform level to the ticketing concourse and to street level. The station is between the University of Washington station (to the north) and Westlake (to the south). It has automated machines for purchasing a ticket or a pass as well as ORCA readers. Tons of restaurants right nearby the station and the park is literally on top of the station.
google avatar

Yelp
Great location for the light rail. Escalators are hit or miss with maintenance. They def improved with the addition of HMart at the top of the station. Schedule accuracy needs improvement. Generally a clean station.

Yelp
Perfect location for a light link rail station! Getting to Capitol Hill just got a whole lot easier, with the new Capitol Hill Station that's located right off of Broadway, a central and main street of the heart of Capitol Hill, as any party-goer/foodie/wealthy-enough-to-live-on-Capitol-Hill resident would tell ya. Capitol Hill gets crazy packed because this is where the whole night life and food scene is and parking is horrendous here. So, the Capitol Hill Station is a welcomed addition. And since it's also a new station, it's clean, well-lit and modern. Signage is everywhere, helping those not familiar with the area to get where they need to go, with escalators and elevators accessible. It's exactly the kind of station that public transit stations need to be - accessible in a prime location that's user-friendly and safe.

Yelp
Wow! They just put this new station in Capitol Hill and thought I would test it out to go to SeaTac. The station is really nice--I hope everyone helps keep it clean like it is now. The process is quick alos. I bought tickets in under a minute. The trains run regularly and they are in nice shape. I also like the fact that the station names are easily seen and the announcements are really clear. It took $3 and 45 minutes to get to airport. This is a really nice service, much better than I expected.

Yelp
I love that the link just got even easier with this new station in Capital Hill! If you take this north it runs to the (also new) station at U Dub (university of washington) and riding south will stop at Westlake and on for many stops all the way to SeaTac. Ride fare is between $2.25 and $3, depending on the distance you travel. Capital Hill has great food, bars, and things to do and it is now easily accessible to many around Seattle. The station itself has three entrances/exits. One (hands holding pinkys art if you are a visual learner) on the corner of John and Broadway. A second (hand "walking" art) about a block down on Broadway and Denny (this one is closest to the capital hill street car stop). A third is located north of Broadway by the park. The farmers market is also formally moving to this station "area". There is a large amount of blacktop around the station which will be the new home for the Capital Hill farmers market every Sunday, year round. Living in Capital Hill a few blocks from this station, I feel like I have access to so much more around the area......just don't tell my landlord for fear of the rent raising!!!

Yelp
At long last! One thing that has surprised me with Seattle is that the mass transit isn't more developed. Not the bus service necessarily, that is actually very good but the light rail! As big as the metro area is I am surprised that it isn't more extensive! It reminds me of the movie "Singles" when Campbell Scott get's denied funding for more mass transit in Seattle... apparently not everything in that movie was a work of fiction! Well, the good thing is that things seem to be changing and more light rail routes are being added to help frazzled commuters. It is obvious that important neighborhoods get their own stop and Capitol Hill is a very important and iconic neighborhood in Seattle. This past weekend was my first time at this station but I have ridden the light rail off and on for sometime now. I simply love it! Each station seems to have it's own vibe and decor. This station has some pretty cool stuff! The convenience of the Capitol Hill Station definitely is amazing! It drops you off right on Broadway where a bunch of shops, restaurants and other services that are just a few blocks away. It's just great!

Yelp
OVERALL easily accessible off Broadway. I'm from California and I'm loving the easy subway system here. One straight line and no confusing connections. Prices are easy. Seatings cleaner than what I'm used to.

Yelp
The Capitol Hill Station is one of the new stations that opened as part of the University Link extension of Sound Transit's Light Rail system last month. The station is located smack dab in the middle of Capitol Hill on the corner of Broadway East & East John Street. There are also a couple other entrances further south including one close to the First Hill Streetcar East Denny Way stop and another one in close proximity to Cal Anderson Park. I have to say that I like this station better than the University of Washington Station stop as you only need to descend down two escalators (compared to three at UW) to reach the train platform here and because this station has multiple exits (compared to one at UW). This new station is really useful for commuters taking Light Rail northbound as they no longer need to get off Light Rail downtown to catch a bus up to Capitol Hill. And convenient for those commuting from the Eastside as you can now get off your bus in the downtown Seattle tunnels and transfer over to Light Rail. The station is also useful for Capitol Hill residents as you can make your way downtown, Sea-Tac Airport and UW in less time. And it will be of benefit in June when Pride season starts given its location next to Cal Anderson. Though I feel like this station is not as helpful if you are heading up to Capitol Hill to enjoy the nightlife as Light Rail service ends earlier than most Capitol Hill bars close. Thus, you need to depend on Lyft and Uber to catch a ride home. The station is also a bit of a trek if you are coming from the vicinity of the 12th Ave business district. A bus may be more convenient. Still the Capitol Hill Station is a welcome addition to the public transportation system in Seattle.

Yelp
Finally got to check out the Capitol Hill Station that the Capitol Hill community can use to take Light Rail Link to the newly expanded University District station or all the way to SEATAC! I really like that the station is new and clean. There's also a guard to make you feel somewhat safe and it looks like a popular commute option as I saw many people are using it, too. As a Capitol Hill resident, before this station existed, whenever I had to go to SEATAC, if I wanted to save some money on the cab/ride, I had to prepare 2.5 hours for the commute to catch a bus and then connect the Light Rail Link at Westlake Station in downtown. Now this inconvenience is gone! I can just have someone drop me off at Capitol Hill station and be on my way there! This would save me so much time and money! :) I also love that now I can just get to International District without having to drive there and worry about finding parking there at all. The rides are nice, and convenient..and most of all, saves me all the worries about how to get to places! :) I'm glad the past years of finally waiting for this light rail had finally yielded into this very fruitful outcome! :)

Yelp
I like how each light rail station has its own flavor and something that sets it apart. This one is no different, with its unusual art. I'm very glad there's a stop in this neighborhood, I might never have visited otherwise.
google avatar

Yelp
This station has everything! Shiny, modern art and industrial landscaping make this station that really is a huge hole in the ground happen. Connecting you to the existing Light Link to the newer extensions, this station is infested with the delicious aroma of Indian food, that will draw you out of the doldrums underneath the Hill to the life near Cal Anderson Park. This station puts you right in the middle of it all, and has some connecting busses to nearby neighborhoods. They keep people from camping around here, and everything is staying somewhat clean, even after being open all this time. The thing is that this station is wonderful in almost every way except one: it is a death trap. In all seriousness, do not get stuck here during a power outage. It has happened to passengers already, and I'm not sure they've fixed the problem. There are no stairs to get out of the station. There is only an escalator that takes minutes to get you to the surface, which also cannot be used as stairs during an emergency (according to Sound Transit), or an elevator that is also not going to work in the event of a disaster. They put this so deep underground and funneled everyone into small columns, there is no way to empty this station in an emergency. I'm not sure who designed it, but it was not designed for a disaster. It was only designed for showing off some pretty exorbitant spending on behalf of Sound Transit. At least it is clean for now.

Yelp
First visit last Sunday - Impressive! It's very clean and modern (hopefully it will stay that way - I did notice a strong security presence). We rode it to UW for a street fair on University Ave which was a 15-min walk from the Husky stadium station. Ticket: $2.50
google avatar

Nicole-Ann G.

Yelp
More stops and stations yay!!!!!! When I rode this today all I could think about is YES. I do not have to ride the smelly 3,4,7,49 as much now! If you ride these buses daily you'd know the struggle bus (pun intended) that I go through. Driving when working near downtown Seattle just doesn't make sense - not just for the environment but also for the wallet. I am just beaming about these stops now because it really does allow folks coming from down south of Seattle/Tukwila to come to Seattle without sacrificing so much time on the dreaded I-5 or HWY 167. Thank you SoundTransit!

Yelp
Extremely clean and new looking! Easy to get around with signs and friendly staff when needed. So glad Seattle finally has made it to subway stations! This is a world class city and it is way overdue. Confused as to why the land around the station is so bare. Are they planning on developing something soon? Also, I feel like the signage out on the street needs to be a bit more prevalent. A random person walking by across the street wouldn't really know it's the entrance to a subway station because there is no iconic signage. Maybe a giant letter t?

Yelp
The dawn of effective transit in Seattle is finally here! I live just a few blocks away from this station, and I'm now a short hop away from UW/downtown and just 45 minutes away from the airport. That is unbelievably cool, and really helpful. I can now take the train to UW and transfer to the 541 or 542 to get to and from work in Redmond. This saves me from the slog of getting through I-5 on the 545, and wins me back about 15 minutes in my commute. I can't wait for future light rail extensions to come to fruition--just these two new stations have already transformed how Seattle uses transit. Oh, the station itself is pretty rad. It's really humongous, and is reminiscent of metro stations in Singapore and other such large Asian cities--way larger than any subway stop you'd find in New York or London. There's also a giant modern art installation hung above the central platform, and it adds an additional aura of cool to this already cool enterprise. In case you couldn't tell, I'm just so glad that this place exists.

Yelp
I feel like not much can really be said about public transportation stops, but if I had to choose a stop use, it would be this one. It's always clean and it's in a seemingly safe and clean part of the cap hill neighborhood.
google avatar

Yelp
I am so happy the city finally open the station on Capitol Hill. Previously I was taking the link back from the airport to Westlake center and then transferring to the 49 bus, but this added a lot of uncertainty in about half an hour to my trip. Being able to go directly to the capital Hill station is a lifesaver and I take full advantage of it. There are several access points to enter the station, essentially on both sides of Broadway at East John/olive. There are also some smaller entrances closer to Cal Anderson Park on nagle. The fare depends on what station you were traveling from and to, but the most you will pay is three dollars. If you have an orca pass you can transfer to bus lines for free. The station is pretty new, which means so far it's maintained quite well. It is clean, and I have seen security officers on patrol so it feels safe. The ride from the Capitol Hill station to the airport is about 40 minutes and trains leave every 10 or 15 minutes throughout the day. Seriously, so convenient and I have used it a ton for getting around. Parking as of yet doesn't seem to be open, though I haven't figured that out yet. That said there is street parking available around the area, which is as hitter mess as it always is in Capitol Hill. I may be updating this review later though, because I'm pretty sure they are working on the parking lot if it isn't open yet. Finally, there are machines that will happily except cash or card so you can make your ticket purchase easily. You can also reload your orca card at the machines if needed.
