This place is a staple in this part of the Hispanic community nestled in the village of Harlem. For years, they have been providing delicious confections, and other savory offerings as well, to the people at large. Great place, great food, great people. If you are ever in Spanish Harlem do yourself a great service and stop by, it's worth it. Did I mention they're among the few places left that are still priced affordably?

Fantastic old school bakery. Been here for years and still makes the best Cuban sandwiches and bread pudding. Customer birthday cakes, pastries and much, much more !

Fantastic Bakery!! Purchased two Cakes on a Friday and not only were they visually stunning they were Delicious!! This spot is always bust but the staff is friendly, helpful and fast!! Very Affordable, Can't wait to go Back!!

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. I had the most terrible experience while doing a customized cake order for my son's birthday. The staff is horrible and disrespectful, they will not resolve any issues professionally whatsoever. Long story short my son was disappointed for his birthday because the cake order was completely wrong, they marked cherry for inner filling and I received just plain buttercream filling. The flavors were not up to par. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE, they are overpriced and under pleasing.

I came in to order a cake, I asked for red velvet and I’m not sure if the lady spoke well enough English or if she understood me. She asked me what color icing I said red and white and I got a regular cake with red and white icing. The red icing was very bitter I have to wipe it off to eat the cake. Very upsetting. They don’t answer the phone which makes me mad. What’s the point of having a number online!? But they take care of you and you can get a cake done the same day.

Today 12/21 is my birthday and I ordered a small the tres leche birthday cake the day prior on 12/20. I was asked to pick up the cake at 1pm the following day. Upon arrival the line was out the door and we patiently waited 40 minutes on the line. Upon getting to the front of the line, we waited an additional 15 minutes for a cake that was not ready. After the cake was brought out it was incorrectly made. We asked cashier for a refund and were told “we would have to return the following day to speak with Herman the Manager”. The cashier reported they would correct the mistake in a few minutes. After clearly identifying what the cake topping should look like, by using one of their cakes as an example. It appeared things would be different and the cake was taken into the back to be corrected. The cake returned no longer chocolate mousse, but vanilla and missing the handwritten happy birthday. Infuriated, I was met with condescension and unprofessionalism. There’s a clear language barrier and comprehension issue with the staff. The staff were moving around customers in the cramped space, not saying excuse me as they accessed their refrigerators which are located in the cramped storefront. I was hit with a refrigerator door several times as they assisted other patrons. Not one person said excuse me or acknowledged the proximity of closeness to customers. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, the 3rd cake was brought from the back to the front counter and finally resembled the original order. After packaging the cake for me to take home, the cashier asked for my only receipt. I asked for my original receipt to be returned to me. The cashier refused to provide the receipt stating I should take a photo with my phone. I firmly stood on receiving my receipt which was reluctantly provided. Unsure if they did “something” to the cake as I am rightfully skeptical and due to the poor customer service, I will not be eating the cake. To the cashiers, thanks for making sure you spoke Spanish and excluded me and other non Spanish speaking customers from your conversations. This does not have to be the standard of customer service. I would like to highlight I was serviced by Andrea the day before on 12/19 for a cake for a work party on 12/20 and the customer service was A1! To the manager Herman, you must do better with your staff. Additionally, you ruined my birthday cake and provided the worse customer service I have received in many years which NYC, is Not Easy. Don’t shop here unless you can speak the language or deal with incompetence. The service is terrible which sucks because the bakery does have good products. I added a photo of one of the incorrect cakes, the original receipt, and the store and staff today.

My wedding cake was ruined. The cake I ordered was to have edible flowers and the cake itself was to be blue and white with gold acccents. The day of my wedding I pick up my cake and I'm met with a cake that had plastic flowers on top like what you see on your grandmothers dining room table. Because I was crunched for time I couldn't even stay and argue. I get to the venue and the whole cake has fallen to one side because there weren't those stick things in it to keep it stable. We had to cover the front with fake rose petals to cover it up. The service could definitely be better. They cater to their hispanic clientale and the rest of us are basically ignored.

Capri Bakery was my destination today come hell or high water. I saw people waiting outside and then asked the man if he was waiting to go inside. He said they only allow four at a time as the space is small. After speaking to him I saw the sign on the door. I waited patiently taking photos of the beautiful cakes in the windows. When it was my turn to go inside I was overwhelmed by the choices. I decided on the small piece of cornbread. When I got to the counter I said I wanted a small piece of cornbread. I was charged $2.50 and I left. When I felt the bag it was really heavy and grease started coming through. I decided to go to the park and eat it right away. The piece was huge and very juicy and sweet. Naturally I ate the whole thing. I was glad I can cross Capri off my to go list. If I return I will try the strawberry cheesecake. The cupcakes look good too. Needless to say I won't be eating lunch today! If you visit Capri be prepared to wait in line. Also make it clear what you want. I should have told her by pointing to the item in the showcase. I have a feeling the small piece would not have been so sweet. Four Stars for cleanliness, organized set up, lots of selections, and very reasonable price.

THIS IS A LONG POST BUT VERY NECESSARY ONE. Ok now I would love to have given this business 5 starts but I just cannot. The cake was amazing and absolutely beautiful. However, my in house experience just was not as amazing. So on Aug 3 I went to the location 116th with my sister. A girl named Anais took my order. As we was completing the order my sister gave Anais the whole $220 which covered the cost of the cake. My sister wanted to smoke so she left the store. Anais took the money and had it alllllll around the counter and the table. Oppose to her "intelligent" self placing the money into the register after receiving it she continued to leave it out in the open. Me and her completed everything and I took a step back to leave and accidentally stepped on a man. So I turn around and apologize because I'm thinking I bumped into a customer by mistake but nope. I bumped into one of the neighborhoods usual crackheads. She tells me I forgot my receipt so I turn back around to grab it and while doing so the man ask me for $20. So I looked at him and asked him straight up" did you lose your MFing mind get the f out my face." Like the audacity. And while the whole time this is occurring Anais STILLLLL did not put the money in the register but left it on the top counter where the cakes are. So the man reached around me and grabbed the money and ran out of the store. I ran out behind him to see where did he go. People in the area knew him so I gathered information about him to provide to the store. I go back into the store to get my receipt and Anais is basically like no. And now I'm looking at her like she lost her mind. This human tells me I should had stopped the man. Now I totally lose it and go ham to the point my sister comes in and we about to drag her from behind the counter. A small lady comes out I'm assuming she was the supervisor on duty. She asked if I can at least call the cops for them. Now the nice person I am I call the police AND WAITED until they came to provide all information I had. The supervisor gave me my receipt and told me I will get my cake. I know I was going to or ima need my funds back. I told the officer everything and he said that it was not my problem (which I knew) because the business was in possession of the money. The officer also stated he surprised I even stayed to speak with them and I'm like I'm really a nice person and I do feel bad for the business but Anais needs to be let go or re train because she is a special kind of human. She was so smart. You see behind me. So you saw this man behind me up to no good and you said nothing.. then when he steals from you you expect for me to become a security for your store and stop this man and get the money while you stand behind the counter looking special ABSOLUTELY NOT. As I'm writing this post I'm getting upset all over again. Like I said to Anais I will say again here. 116 is the slums. If you don't know how to work in the slums then you need another job somewhere else. I can't believe I traveled all the way over to this place just to have such experience. I just want to thank the supervisor again for ensuring my son's cake was as beautiful as it was and for stepping in before I had to show her very special employee a very special time....

I've been a patron at this bakery for years; it's even been a custom of mine to visit every Thursday after my morning classes. One day, I ordered my usual toasted long bread with butter and a hot chocolate. When I arrived home and started to eat, I realized the bread had barely any butter. I live a few blocks away so I made a mental note for my next visit. I visited the next week and I asked for more butter when I saw it wasn't enough. The woman had the nerve to charge me an extra 50 cents because she claimed it was extra butter. I'm never visiting this bakery again. I'm sure they won't miss my business but based on the other reviews, I'm not the only one who won't be frequenting.

It's the neighborhood bakery. I have been coming to this bakery since I was a kid. My mom would get a toasted hero mashed with butter and coffee. They have long lines during certain periods of the day; morning and evening PC (precorona). Since Corona Capri has been amazing. They stay open between 7 and 8 pm. The lines are sometimes long now due to social distancing but they are moving.There cakes are still being made and the service is still good. If you get any thing from this place let it be the tres leche cake. It is soooooooo freaking delicious and usually all I come for. The chocolate cake and strawberry cake slices are great! They make whole cakes there as well. They also have big portions of sweet breads and a great option if you have a bunch of little ones that like sweet bread or you, solo. The variety is great, the prices are reasonable, and everything is delicious. Go try it? you wont regret it

Ruined my Birthday so if I could give no stars I would, in addition to the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My Birthday was February 23rd this cake order was placed on Wednesday 21st. I mean talk about what I asked for vs what I was shown.....smh I thought I was being punked!! Mind you they added a crown, to which I was surprised to see because I was asked upon placing the order did I want the crown I asked how much additional would it be. The lady that was assisting me said the crown would be an additional $20.00 dollars... and that still didn't make the cake look any better. So not to mention the cakes pick up date was on my Birthday... when I arrived they could not find it so I left and came back the next day... now that I finally seen the cake I believe it was not even ready they threw this cake together and this is what they came up with. I explain to the lady I am not happy and that was not what I asked for... she replied we do look alike not the exact.... I replied ma'am this cake doesn't even resemble. Not to mention the handwriting on the cake... smh who wrote that your toddler?... I have always gave this bakery business every year, with buying my family and friends cakes and unfortunately it's not always what you do before or in the midst of the mistake but how you recover from it. I was then called my the owner who happened to be what sounded like a young girl... she called me on Saturday night the day after my Birthday to say if you want the cake you can come back and get it you only have to pay us $50 more dollars to the deposit after I voiced my disappointment in the outcome of the cake. The young lady then stated ok np I understand you can come Monday and bring the card you used to leave the deposit so we can refund you the deposit paid. Monday I get off and arrive around 5pm... I went to the counter asked for the manager or supervisor and explained what I was there for. The guy behind the counter told me no one there at the time knew how to refund my deposit and that I would have to come back in the morning... after having me wait 45 minutes for the ow we on the phone to try and direct on how to refund my money, but to no avail. The worst experience ever... unfortunately I will not be going back. Capri cakes on 116th street you guys did bad and now I'm sharing my experience so no has to feel how I did on my Birthday!!!!

I ordered my daughter's 18th birthday cake and cupcakes a week and a half before her party. I wasn't able to get anyone on the phone so I walked in. I showed them a picture of what I wanted and the gentleman said he could do it. When I picked up the cake and cupcakes, the cake was not decorated as promised. The nasty woman at the counter told me that's it and there was nothing they could do. Little did she know that I was prepared to take the cake and cupcakes without paying the balance (the dummy had already given me the 50 cupcakes). Once I let her know they better finish decorating the cake, the guy I initially spoke to stepped in. They finished decorating the cake and I left. When it was time to cut the cake to serve, it was dry and crumbly. It looked pretty on the outside but that's about it. I would not recommend this bakery to anyone. They never answer their business phone, they don't deliver what they advertise and their customer service sucks!

Sold me a $150 ( burnt cake ) with a straight face. The cake was extra crispy to the point where you can see that it was BLACK. The outside was pretty but it was not edible. I live in another borough and did not feel the need to go there to argue with them. They Ruined my daughter's birthday.

I order a day befor my birthday party and the cake look nothing like the photo I didn't get a refund or a remake

Really upset and disappointed with this bakery. First time for me to use them and they are very popular in Harlem. I placed my order for a my sons 4th birthday. Set pick up time for 10am on Sunday and I showed up later around 11:20. Waited patiently in line for 10 minutes then another 6 minutes after providing my cake receipt, totally fine. Cake was very beautiful on the outside and exactly as I requested. My son wanted and that paper said chocolate cake with vanilla cream. I got a vanilla cake with vanilla custard inside....embarrassing for me when I tell my guest and son it's chocolate and it's not. I was going to return here for cupcakes because my sons actual birthday is on September 30th, but I will be going to a place that can deliver exactly what I want and pay for Oh here's a picture of my sons non chocolate cake

Back in the day I will say that this place was amazing, but last night I had my son go pick up two sandwiches, one Cuban with the fries & a regular steak, but when he came home & gave me the total something was off. I looked again at their online menu and checked their Facebook menu as well and the pricing is different, on top of the fact that the food was poorly made and there was barely any meat on either sandwich. This morning, I called & got the owner who was absolutely rude & disgusting on how he speaks to customers. I started with the pricing & his answer was that his web guy has not made the changes, well not my fault, second I mentioned the quality of the food & asked how he would make me whole & he asked what I would like & I said to have my food remade & his answer was that I would not go to Publix & do that & he would not do it & that all I wanted was free food, just bad business & obviously does not care for his customers. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB because you can't advertise one price in one place & then charge something different. This man needs to take a class in customer service because he has no class & clearly does not know how to speak to people. I have tons of family & friends that live near this location & I will be sure to let them know to never go back to them & to pass the word along of ripping people off with incorrect pricing & the quality of food & service. Anyone reading if you ever want a good sandwich with correct pricing & stuffed go to Don Ramons, Havana or Tulipan, they will always treat you with respect & the quality will always be amazing.

Little bakery with amazing flavor ! No tables or chairs, you need to do a line and everything Is to go. Gets very crowded during day and night. Cakes and more cakes ! Food * cheesecake - 5 of 5! Amazing, my niece told me the flavor was great! * tres leche - 5 of 5 ! Yummy! You need to try this one ! Very juicy and soft. *chocolate and vanilla cake with Ferrero chocolate! 5 of 5! To die for!! I will come back !

Where else can you buy a whole loaf of bread, 6 bagels and a toasted buttered bread for $9.50? A great deal and my go-to neighborhood option for early Sunday morning bread!

It takes a lot to blow me away with cake, sweets and treats but I have to give major props to this bakery for their delicious cakes and desserts. I tried only a slice of their cake 2 years ago at a birthday party and I loved it. I then again tried it 3 weeks ago at another birthday party with my sister in law and it left me wanting another slice for home. Sadly, she left the Tres Leche cake in the car and had to toss it out the next day. Today, my husband got me my very own 10" round tres Leche cake from Capri Bakery and I couldn't wait to cut a slice and sure enough I was blown away and it was so moist and delicious. I can't wait to dig into this cake all week long. It's definitely not lacking anything, from design to the not so overwhelming amount of tres Leche milk inside of the cake to the frosting flavor, it's just all so darn good. I will be getting all my birthday and holiday cakes here from now on.

My parents love the guava cheese bread that they make at this bakery and have been coming here for years. They went to buy one yesterday and after my father took a bite from it, realized they were sold a moldy bread. They went back today to try and get a new bread or speak to someone and they were told that the manager was not there today and nothing could be done. How is this possible?! How could you not remediate this? The bread was very moldy and clearly a YOU problem, either give me my money back or new bread. My parents were told, nothing could be done because a manager was not present. And they had to take the moldy bread with them. I tried calling today to speak to someone about this and no one picked up the phone either. They could have clearly called a manager and found a solution at that moment but choose not too. It really sucks that they choose to treat people this way.

Capri did our gender reveal cake in less than 1 day and exceeded our expectations! Very convenient and reasonably priced!

Came here to day picked up some cakes and a flan the flan tasted disguising and the 3s leche was dry as hell. Never had such a dry cake. Also picked up a quisito shit was hard too.

This is a great local bakery. It's almost always busy with locals who are either getting a sandwich, a donut or in most of my cases, a cake. The cakes are delicious & are always a must for any family party for us. The prices are affordable & all the cakes are beautifully decorated.

I went into this bakery looking for a birthday cake. I initially wanted to get the tres leche cake but the cake is topped with fruit that I'm mostly allergic to so I decided on a small strawberry cake. The cake was really moist and was also really pretty. I picked up two coconut macaroons which also tasted amazing. Yes the bakery is small, but they have a good range of cakes and desserts.

My family and I have purchased cakes from Capri for YEARS and their cakes get better and better every year! Capri cakes are ALWAYS moist and delicious, so we buy them for almost every special occasion - from birthdays to graduations and this year was no different! For my daughter's first birthday, this past February, I ordered a custom cake from Capri and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND DELICIOUS!!! It was huge and tasted so incredibly fresh - I hope they're still around for the day she gets married because I'm sure that cake will be from Capri too! Lol!

Good cakes and fast service despite being cramped into a pretty small shop space. Very convenient to pick something up quickly. Thoroughly impressed by their ability to pipe out frosting messages on even their smallest cakes, either on top despite all the fruit/chocolate on too or along the sides of the cakes. Solid lettering!

Yesterday was my first visit and I was so excited to grab a variety of options for my family to try. I told the woman helping me that I have a nut allergy so as to not include anything with nuts and requested only nut-free pastries. She told me "don't worry everything here is nut-free." Unfortunately, I believed her and then had an allergic reaction to walnuts in the cinnamon roll later that evening and left my family dinner in a panic to go get emergency assistance. *This bakery is not nut-free.*

They sell moldy products. Is very upsetting how the employees need a manager to resolve a situation like this.

Very good Spanish bakery that's been in El Barrio forever. Strong coffee served pipping hot. Love the coconut macaroons and tres leches. Donuts in the morning a pretty good as well.

Looking for a bakery to cater an upcoming party. Their prices are a bit expensive. I bought slices of vanilla, red velvet, chocolate moouse and a fruit tart each $4. I loved the chocolate Moose and the tart. Everything else wasn't worth the money. Still unsure if I will use them.

Very disappointed, as amazing as these cupcakes looked in the display they should have informed me how they were planning on packing the cupcakes. These were birthday cup cakes for my mom and I'm surprised They didn't have a better system to pack these to go.

I should have known from the cakes that are displayed in the window that the service was not going to be what it once was. Not to mention someone was very unhappy about their cake order when I came in to order. I showed the woman at the counter the picture listed below and she hair yes we can do this for you but it will be $300. I said ok and proceeded with the transaction and process. I am very unsatisfied with this cake not to mention there was a fly trapped in the box. This is absolutely unacceptable! Never again!

Capri's cakes are good, but their customer service is terrible. The few times I've been here, they have all but ignored me while I have had to flag them down. I'm a 6' tall woman so I'm pretty sure they saw me. Just didn't feel like serving me. Be careful of Gringo prices, especially if you don't speak Spanish. They tried to charge me $85 for a basic sheet cake! Honey, please. I work for my money. There has got to be a decent baker in the area that charges fair prices and treats customers better.

A great bakery option for a quick stop if you need a last-minute cake. When you walk in, the first shelf of small cakes is $15! What a steal! It's great for smaller families who aren't too fond of sweets. There is vanilla, chocolate mousse, and other flavors. However, their boxes are slightly too short, so the decorations might be ruined. Not sure if they just ran out of boxes or what. Taste-wise, the cream is fluffy, not sickeningly sweet, and the filling is a layer of vanilla pudding or some kind of vanilla custard.

My mom surprised me with these Hennessy Cakes for my birthday and I absolutely LOVED them! Mom told me same day she ordered she got it. Tasted amazing. Very moist and soft. Even after the 3RD day!! Highly recommended. Will be getting my best friends Patron cake for her birthday today from here. Looking forward to posting those pics also.

In the center of East Harlem You'll find this bakery full of culture variety treats. The bakery has been here for a a while. Is convenient and the only spot with so much to offer from coffee, cakes, sandwiches, donuts, bread, etc . The cakes are good notting out of the ordinary. Good for special occasions but you have to make sure to be on top of them. The staff is some what efficient when taking orders, I got a orange juice instead of the passion fruit juice, so upset when I paid $3 dollars for it. The rice pudding and the fruit cakes are really good if you lucky to get them fresh. The cheese cake is always pretty good. The spot hit the spot when you looking for some cravings with out having to spend a fortune. Overall not bad that's where my 3 stars come from. Oh yeah .

Overrated. The first time I was there, their cake was creamy and delicious. The second time I stopped by to pick up a red velvet cake. I even asked the lady for one that's recently made. She even ensure me that everything is still good. I bought a $25 cake to feed 5 people and two donuts for myself for the bus ride home. To my surprise after 15mins leaving the bakery, the cake melted. She probably gave me a cake that's already weeping because it was not like this the first time... when it took me 40 mins to walk home. And the donuts are dry and hard. The cake was terribly sweet... Even the sweet tooth birthday boy was complaining that it was disgustingly sweet. I will give it another chance because the first cake I had was amazing(not red velvet). Capri please don't let me down next time.

Just contacted them and they are open everyday until 8pm. The last time I visited (a few weeks ago) only 4 people were allowed in. Masks are required.

This is an awesome bakery - every time that I bring one of their cakes to the office - everyone loves it! The pastries are on point as well. The chocolate mousse, tres leches and strawberry short cake are the best!! Go ahead try it - you won't be disappointed. My only suggestion or request is do the renovation to the store - it is needed

I go in for two slices of cake total of 9.00. Some how I get overcharged by $50 on my debit card. The woman attitude was so nonchalant, oh I wasn't paying attention,don't worry its gonna come back. Yes in 3 to 5 business days. Their attitude towards customers needs great improvement. I won't be returning.

Capri is one of the best bakery's in east Harlem. You can smell the bakery from a block away. Every item that they carry is delicious. They bake everything fresh and daily. You can get a Cuban sandwich there as well. Very reasonable prices. I've ordered Birthday cakes from them a couple times and they was no cake left ( the crowd demolished it) definitely a place you should try!

I use to go to Valencia's on 103rd Lexington Avenue. Nevertheless, the last time I purchased a cake from them, my brother said it was dry. So, I heard great things about this place. I decided to give it a try-run. The last thing you want to do, is try out a new place with a special event coming up. Even though Thanksgiving is cancelled due to Covid-19 and really because of religious reasons. I went to purchase a nice autumn cake. I love the Fall one my favorite times of the year. I saw the cake I wanted and the price was right. So, I said give me that one put on it FALL FAMILY, in Orange frosting. I thought of it, just then. Right in the store. She goes to the back and come back. And she has WHITE frosting. I says thyself. I know she heard me, she nodded before she left. And I noticed she was different when she got back. I did not say a word you know why? Because I have no tolerance for people who want to do Satan's bidding. Now, I know when people sin against you, a believer is suppose to pray for that individual. Nonetheless, I thought to myself what if I jump over the counter and wear her out! Who's going to pray for me? All in all I like the place. It's clean with nice size portions and priced right. All she had to do to get five stars instead of four, from me was to just give me what I ordered. Sometimes people get in their head about stuff and then fail at customer satisfaction. I don't know what she was thinking but for some reason. She couldn't write what I wrote down on the paper in ORANGE. Ultimately, I had to purchase my own.

Very good cupcakes and cakes I found in Spaha there js always quite a line so they must be doing something right :), the place is small but what is not small in Manhattan now a days. Will frequent this cute place Often in near future.

This place is horrible with customer service. I ordered my cake 2 months with a specific time to be ready..... after standing outside on line( as per covid) theres still a long line in the store. With no explanation, they say my cake is not ready... first I hear 10min.... when the 10min passed. They said 15more because "its not ready" what!?!?! Why!?!? Why is my cake not ready its passed the time that I asked for it to be, so almost 1hr and 15min later its ready.... ive waited around all this time.... i should be offered some kind of partial refund. Dont bother offering store credit because I'LL NEVER BE BACK HERE EVER!!!!

When I say I looooved this place. I truly did. Loved the bread also the baked goods. Until one day, I walk in and I assure you that the roaches where literally doing sit ups and push ups on the bread. It was unfreaking believable. I don't know what these health inspectors are inspecting but it's not the cleanliness of these locations SERIOUSLY...I never ever have been back.

I only come here for there butter toast and Cuban sandwich which are delicious. Some of there employees need better customer service skills.

My wife and I ordered a cake for our baby reveal after being recommended by a friend. That was best decision we made. The cake was the talk of the party. They did such a great job. Will be using them again for all of our cakes.

Great cakes. Tres leche cake is great with fruits on the top of it. Great birthday cakes.
