"Capri’s Pizza of South Chicago, a Southeast Side favorite that’s been open since 1955 at 8820 S. Commercial Avenue, is closed indefinitely after a fire engulfed “several buildings” on Sunday afternoon. Ownership yesterday wrote on social media that they are “heartbroken and devastated” and asked customers to “please pray for the entire block.” They asked friends and neighbors to visit their two Indiana locations in Schererville and Crown Point “until we can get back on our feet.” No one was reportedly injured in the fire." - Daniel Gerzina

Used to be a loyal customer, not anymore. Called this location for delivery to a home only 5 (or less) minutes away. After being told food should arrive in 45 mins, the household ended up waiting 2 HOURS , to which we still have not received our food. After a number of phone calls, (half due to disconnections and extremely long wait times), I decided to drive to the location myself to find out the whereabouts of my food. At first, service was understanding and told me the order was never processed correctly due to a staff mistake. Ended up waiting another hour for food with only a $10 discount off a $40 order. After making it back home, the family finds the pizza we ordered was missing cheese on parts of slices and orientation was extremely sloppy. A call was given to the establishment for a possible refund to which they tried to counter act with in store credit for our next purchase. Unacceptable... The phone call was later transferred to the owner who happened to be very rude and hung up on us. We drove back to the business to see how we could resolve the issue and we're treated like disrespected dogs. The owner tried to make it seem as if their mistake was our own fault and refused to refund our money. Buyers beware, he's a true jerk and has no sense of professionalism.

My family and I use to be loyal customers but not anymore due to getting the wrong order delivered and the owner didn't want to give a full refund. He only offered a $6 credit to a future purchase which wasn't going to solve the issue of having a pizza that had toppings I can't eat. The owner was so rude as he kept repeating that he wasn't giving a full refund unless he came to get the pizza which wasn't going to be remade cuz they were closing for the evening. We are disappointed that we have to find a new place to get pizza from cause theirs is good but the professionalism is a huge turn off!

This is one of, if not the most popular South Chicago restaurant. So many memories have been left thanks to this pizza place. I don't know of any person that dislikes their pizza. This spot has always been a staple of our community, which is why we will return as soon as this place reopens. Much love 🤙🏼

I still believe that Capri pizza has the best pizza in the country. That being said, the service has to improve!!!! I moved away several years ago and came back to visit my folks for the holiday and we ordered capri pizza. The order we received was totally wrong (someone else's pizza) and not even close to what we ordered. When I tried to get it replaced the staff asked if I was ok with keeping it???!!!! HAHA ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Then they said there would be a charge to deliver me the new pizza?!!!!!!!! I ended up having to return the incorrect order and pickup my new CORRECT order which ended up being about a two hour wait time in total. Also not ONCE was I ever issued an apology/sorry for the wrong order. In fact it seemed like I was inconveniencing them....really? I am writing this review out of love because I still believe this is the best pizzeria in the country but the service has been declining significantly over the years. I remember seeing Mr Capri at the shop on a regular basis (taking out garbage, greeting customers, checking on operations etc.) back in the day...making sure things were done RIGHT. Please get it together, reading some of the other reviews it is apparent the service is becoming a problem. DeArcos offers a cheaper pie and a better price and they always get it right.

I don't know what has happened to Capri over the years. Today will be the last time I order from them. I ordered a fish sandwich from them months ago and the fish was cold. Today, I ordered a sausage pizza. The crust was soo thin, it lacked cheese and it averaged one piece of sausage per slice. I should have known something was wrong cause the xlarge pizza felt so light. I wish I could upload a pic to show .

Don't waist your money with this cheap pizza place!!!!! We ordered pizza for my nephews birthday and after an hour we got a call from this place to say the delivery guy had to go back because nobody opened the door, as an answer they said they were gonna deliver it again after half of hour.....we waited almost for an other half of hour (2hrs after we had submitted the order initially), and we call back again asking to talk with the manager and he provided nothing else but poor customer service he didn't want to give us a discount for this cold pizza not even an apology, he were saying we were lying because his delivery guy "knocked the door ".....it is totally up to you guys if you want to go thru this experience 👎🏼

We used to go this pizza joint years ago when we first moved over here in 1973. It was the place to order from on Friday or Saturday night because they delivered and you didn't feel like driving some place to get something to eat. The pan pizzas were good and the Chicken dinners were always the best or the go to. Haven't been in a while decided to go in today because it was in the neighborhood and wanted something different than the usual. Ordered the sausage and cheese Calzone/ order of fries, last time I had a Calzone was in my college years back in the 1980's. The Calzone was hot, cheesy and plentiful - ordered the 10inch - could feed at least two/three people. The fries tasted the same from years ago when we used to order the chicken dinner. I have ordered the pizza in recent years, it isn't the best but if your in the neighborhood, don't drive or have a car it is worth the money because they do delivered - not a long delivery wait like some pizza joints!
