My coworker and I ordered from this location at 300 West 26 th Street and it was delivered with a VERY SMALL SALAD WITH WILTED LETTUCE that can make people sick , become hospitalized or need medical care and with all the major recalls happening with food items you would think that any one preparing a salad with very old, noticeable WILTED lettuce would have not prepared such and thrown it out. Having worked in the Nutrition & Hospitality Industry at a very high level, EVERYONE working in a restaurant of any type of food industry who actually handles and prepares food IS TRAINED to have either a Food Handlers training or a Servsafe Food Certification that comes with extensive training on KNOWING about Food Safety, Food Temperature and Storage and I would think that any chefs or food preparers at Carbon at 300 West 26 th in Chicago would have these trainings and would execute their training when preparing food for the public. The ceasar salad I ordered after viewing their menu came with tomatoes that were not listed as an ingredient which is why I ordered it. Not pleased, I take the tomatoes out. I then taste the vinegar/oil salad dressing and it is extremely tart, so I don't use it. I then attempt to eat the $17.95 PLUS TAX SALAD and it is full of WILTED LETTUCE. I show my coworker and she suggests I call the restaurant. I try to pick out some of the WILTED LETTUCE but it is too much of it WILTED so I call and speak to Allison. I expressed to her that I would post a review of my displeasure with such an uncaring display for the SAFETY of their patrons and she tells me that me expressing my want to post as a "threat." I explain to her that well over 90% of the reviews I post are positive and I told her I do so because most times people almost always post negative reviews and not when customer service and food quality is good, exceptional or great. She speaks with me & my coworker and asks if I would send her pictures of the condition of the salad I received. I do just that. I send in text and in email. She said she would take steps to "make it right. " Well that never happened. I guess Carbon at 300 West 26 th street is in the habit of just taking folks money with out a care in the world about food Safety, food quality, especially when it comes to lettuce that apparently was left out or not stored at the PROPER TEMPERATURE to PREVENT WILTING! When working with food and particularly certain age groups it is IMPERATIVE that Ready To Eat Foods ARE HANDLED, PREPARED AND STORED CORRECTLY. You WILL cause someone to become seriously ill when laziness, uncaring, fast preparing, handling and preparing UNSAFELY is exercised! I think it is a very sad shame that Carbon at 300 West 26th Street, Chicago location would allow food to be sent out to a customer, then be made aware of the issue with pictures and do absolutely NOTHING to make it right. Shame on you...😔💔
So I receive a "response" to my post deflecting me , the consumer to reach out to Ubereats about a refund for monies that was PAID TO CARBON RESTAURANT FOR POOR QUALITY FOOD SENT FROM THEIR LOCATION and Allison at Carbon was made fully aware of THE REQUEST FOR A REFUND FROM CARBON FOR POOR QUALITY OF FOOD, as Ubereats is only the deliverer from my understanding. This is even more saddening to post an argument and not attempts to show Good Faith for WHAT CAN BE SEEN AS WILTED LETTUCE for a $18.00 salad. At this point, DOUBLE SHAME ....SMH....SIMPLY RIDICULOUS.
