"On a drive down to Key West, or just any time you find yourself in Key Largo and in the mood for a cheap beer and a view, go to Caribbean Club. The dive bar is a pure distillation of Keys drinking culture. It’s cash-only, you can smoke inside, and every day of the week, starting at 7am, it’s got a mix of locals and passersby appreciating its stuck-in-time interior. But don’t join them at the bar. After you get your drink, walk to the backyard, where you can grab a seat with a waterfront view that’s devastatingly beautiful at sunset. photo credit: Ryan Pfeffer" - Ryan Pfeffer

"Dating back to 1938, the Caribbean Club is the oldest bar in the Upper Keys. While its live music, sunsets, and Key lime pie rum punch are memorable, it was the 1947 filming of Humphrey Bogart movie "Key Largo" that cemented this spot's legendary status. It was a set piece again recently, too, for the Netflix original series Bloodline." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Caribbean Club in Key Largo is a classic, laid-back waterfront bar with a great local vibe. It’s famous for its history, live music, and stunning sunset views. Drinks are affordable, and the atmosphere is unpretentious, making it a great spot to relax. They have drinks and there’s a food truck in the front. It can get crowded, especially on weekends, but that just adds to the charm. Perfect place to grab a drink, and enjoy the sunset.

Google
They have a food truck out front but it is a different business and the food was great too! Can't beat the chill vibe and gorgeous sunset views of this place we were there are three different nights for live music or just hanging out in the evening.

Carmen Restituyo

Google
The initial walk in, looks like an old run-down bar. Not very welcoming or friendly, cash only. After a tip was given for the drinks we ordered, the attitude completely changed to friendly. The outdoor area is beautiful. I didn't try any food.

Vicente Pimienta

Google
Great place to chill out watching the sunset, have a few drinks and dance to live music. Preferred by locals. NOTE: CASH ONLY!

Michael Dowd

Google
As a Bogart and Bacall fan, I had to stop by the Caribbean Club for a brew. Exterior shots of the bar were used in the 1948 classic film, Key Largo. There is outdoor seating for wonderful ocean views, and a food truck offering burgers, fish sandwiches, and tacos. Atmosphere is the word for this watering hole bar dating back to the 30’s. Highly recommended!

Katy Crocker

Google
Great place to sit outside with a reasonably priced drink and watch the sunset. Bring cash as that is all they accept. The bathrooms are a bit nasty, and the inside is more like a dive bar. It's still a great place.

Stephen Selby

Google
5 star dive bar with a casual Keys atmosphere. The Humphrey Bogart movie "Key Largo" was filmed in part here and the movie posters and Bogie statues pay tribute to that past, but they are not stuck in the past. Modern drinks, cool live music and fantastic sunset views will keep you coming back long after the nostalgia angle loses its fascination. Bring cash because they don't take credit cards and be sure to try the key lime rum punch!

Google
Being vintage movie buffs, we had to stop in at the Caribbean Club while visiting Key Largo. This bar / restaurant is an Iconic stop, as it is one of the locations used in the Bogart and Bacall Film "Key Largo". It offered a very fun, casual and open atmosphere as the bar was opened up to the Gulf side of the island with beautiful views of the Blackwater Sound. A great place to take in a sunset and a fun stop for the nostalgia if nothing else...

Yelp
This is a classic dive bar. Cheap drinks and good ol' boys abound. The night we went there was a tired old band playing classic rock badly, but the crowd loved it. Low standards are the norm for this place. The bathroom is scary - don't wear flip flops in there! There is a centrally located pool table, which always seems to have a game going. The food is just average, but passable for absorbing alcohol. If you want a classic old Florida dive bar experience, this checks the box. If you want something a little nicer, go next door to Big Chill or somewhere else. Party on Garth!

Gary L.

Yelp
Coldest beer around. Atmosphere of a local place. Ambiance you are looking for. Live music every day. Bartender did a wonderful job. CASH IS KING! No credit cards. Although an ATM is in-house. Not pretensive. Food truck outside. Boat launch is on property.

Lee B.

Yelp
THIS is the place to go for a drink and sunset! Awesome outside beachy feel with an outdoor bar for drinks! Loved our time here and Bloodline filmed here!

Yelp
Definitely a drinking destination, fortunately our RV Park is only a few properties north so it was an easy walk. We met two other couples here that were staying at the campground that we had met a year earlier while staying in the Keys so this was a great place to meet again for a few beers and cocktails. We arrived just after dark and the band was already on stage rock in the outdoor area playing some hard hitting country rock. We found seats near the water far enough from the band to still enjoy the music but still able to have a conversation. We grabbed few beers and cocktails at the outside bar, this bartender was efficient and very friendly it appeared that the house cocktails were pre-mixed but always came with a generous floater of rum or tequila depending on whether you ordered a Rum Hurricane or Sunset Margarita. Definitely not your typical cash only dive bar, it's a different level for sure. This bar opens at 7 AM and usually closes after 1 AM seven days a week and has been open since 1938 and operated by the same family since 1963, the Caribbean Club is the oldest bar in the Upper Keys, a place you can still experience what Old Key Largo was like and definitely worth your time to experience something unique to the area. Since this was an original film location for the movie "Key Largo" I'm confident Humphrey Bogart and Edward G. Robinson did shots here, "Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world", you'll want to walk into this one...

Richard H.

Yelp
I never miss a stop at Carib on my way down to Key West. This spot is perfect for that first cocktail on your trip to the Keys. You can sit inside this quirky bar, which has a dive feel, or outside under the palms and watch the boats go by. I haven't tried the food, so I can't review that, but I just love this stop--the bartenders are always friendly.

Wendy A.

Yelp
My friend and I had an amazing time at this place. We didn't eat. We only had drinks. Parking is free and the view it's simply breathtaking. I had a wine as I was enjoying the view and the live music. Prices are extremely good but bring cash because they only accept cash at the bar. No worries they also have an ATM machine for your convenience.

Tyler J.

Yelp
Great place for a beer while listening to good music as the sun goes down over the water.

Tash M.

Yelp
The Caribbean Club is hands down our favorite spot to watch the sunset in Key Largo. The laid-back atmosphere, paired with the breathtaking views, makes it the perfect place to unwind and take in the beauty of the Keys. Whether you're sitting by the water or enjoying a drink from the bar, the sunset here never disappoints. The staff is always welcoming, and the vibe is relaxed and authentic. If you're looking for a spot with stunning views and a true local feel, Caribbean Club is the place to be!

Darren C.

Yelp
The Caribbean Club is a must visit if staying in Key Largo, or just passing through to Key West. Wednesday Night Karaoke was a blast!! It was managed well, and the audience participation really helped make it a fun time. Try to arrive early for the magnificent sunset!!! You definitely don't want to miss it! Food isn't served in the bar, and although they have a food truck on the property , it wasn't open while I was there on 2 occasions.

Carla C.

Yelp
Very relaxing bar. We came here because the bar was feature on the Bloodline series on Netflix Beautiful place to watch the sunset, get a cocktail or beer. No food is serve. Our bartender, Amy was awesome! The bar appears to be very pet friendly. There a stage in the left corner of bar, however, the night we arrive there was no live entertainment.

Angela R.

Yelp
If I had a "Best Dive Bar" award to give I'd surely drop it here. This place is spectacular. We started our self guided pub crawl here while vacationing and staying nearby on a Thursday night. On the way in, the detail oriented patron will notice up above a bird with a food bowl and a sign suggesting the bird not be bothered! Once inside lookout here comes Zeus the super friendly Great Dane! Zeus was certain I still had my dog's treats in my purse. I did not. However the bartender gave me a couple treats and suggested I make Zeus work for them. Zeus proudly sat and shook my hand in exchange for the morsels. Now time to get a drink. Hubby got an ice cold corona and I had a Tito's and cranberry. Our bill was the cheapest I've seen since we got to Florida! $12 I believe. We wandered outside to the beachside Adirondack chairs to check out the entertainment. IT WAS BINGO NIGHT! Might as well have been a comedy club. The locals were cracking us up. I took a sip of my drink and realized how great a price we had gotten, this wasn't the tourist shot of Tito's, this was the locals pour! Anyway we had so much fun we returned two more times with my parents. There was a food truck next to the bar and you can get food there and take it in. Make some time to walk around inside and look at all the memorabilia on the walls. Cheers!e

Denz V.

Yelp
Sat here for a little while on the deck enjoying the view and a nice cold beer. I was here on a Tuesday and was able to connect with several locals. Unfortunately just missed happy hour, but it didn't make it less happy. Overall friendly people and atmosphere and a view you cant beat. We will be back!

Virginia H.

Yelp
This place has recently become my favorite dive bar on Key Largo!  The drinks are cheap and strong; both the bartenders and the patrons are friendly and fun :-) Outside, the place looks like a slice of paradise - inside it's classic dive bar.  Once you get inside, if you keep going you pass through a beachy seating area, and then come to a lovely dock.   I suggest that if you're in the area, you stop by and spend an hour here - you won't be sorry!

Harlem M.

Yelp
I wanted to look at the water - have some cheap priced drinks and conch fritters - then boom - I found Caribbean Club. $4 cocktails and $4 tacos in 2023? This place is not a bad deal.

David C.

Yelp
Great bar. Lots of outdoor dining and drinking areas. Also they have a boat ramp that's pretty cheap. $10 per launch. They only sell chips but enjoy the drinks and arcade games and love music. Cool place.

Brian O.

Yelp
Just go. No food. Just drinks and live music. Every night. Get there before the sun goes down. You won't regret it.

Joe R.

Yelp
If you like dive bars. This is your place. If you are looking upscale. Then this gets 2 stars. Happy hour is 4-6 and has $3.50 well drinks. Music starts around 530p depending on the night. Out side seating is nice. Lots of grizzled locals inside so beware if that is not your vibe. We loved it. Watch out though. Cash only.

Raquel B.

Yelp
Great dive bar, CASH ONLY be prepared before you go. You can drive up to the dock in your jet skis and boat and tie them up to have a couple drinks. Drinks are well priced ($8 doubles, $6 singles, $7 specialty drinks). The key lime rum punch is to die for! Recommended for a quick drink while on the water. Also: compostable cups and straws. #savetheturtles

Yelp
While the locals are warm and friendly, the bartender, however, is the rudest fucking asshole, I have ever encountered anywhere. It started when I simply started chit chat asking a question about the bar when he threw a pamphlet at me and said "I don't have time, I'm busy. read this. But the real excitement happened when a woman ordered a strawberry daiquiri and then her husband showed up two minutes later and ordered one too, in which he snapped at them both saying "its a lot easier to make two than one at a time" then when her friend asked for one, he actually refused and said "no, I'm gonna wait till ALL of your friends get here. That way I can make these all at once, I don't have time for this." Guess what? Motherfucker, you do have time for this because you're a bartender and that's your fucking job. I'm new to Key Largo. I would love to come back to this bar, but I will never step foot in here again. What a HUGE DICK!!!

Marqus R.

Yelp
No, no, no! The Caribbean Club is not a dive bar. At first impression it may look like it. It may at times even act like it, but it's not. What it really is, is a classical Keys Bar in the most classic sense of the term. You can tell it as it's possessed of that laid back Keys tranquility, being a special atmosphere of peaceful tranquility that only a true Keys bar can have. Then to top that, it's steeped in history, as a true Key bar must be. In this case everything from being a part of a Bogart movie to significant mention in the lyrics of Jimmy Buffet songs....so maybe an original part of the salt sands of Margaretville too! As bars go, Caribbean Club, is a drinking, chilling out and conversational socializing bar. So don't go here for food; not even a burger or a dog. They don't have any. Just bags of Lay potato chips. How some ever, if you politely ask in a quite tone of voice or maybe pleadingly beg, which I did, they'll serve you with some fresh smoked local fish. I was lucky enough to get Wahoo. So if you want to go to Key bar at its best, you can't do better than Caribbean Club, which is why I went Five Stars; best of its kind.

Ericka G.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the tranquility of coming here. We came early in the morning just to relax and take in some peaceful views. We sat on the deck on a picnic table and loved how besides one other table we were the only ones here. It's very simple here. Small location with the authentic relaxed vibe of the Keys. There are wooden seats everywhere facing the ocean. An area where the band plays, a dock so you can watch as boats and jet skiis pull up, leave, or drive by. You have the small bar mixing up nice drinks and beers which you can enjoy on their deck or walk your feet in the sand. They even have a hammock placed over the water that will leave you knocked out in seconds. We stayed here for hours just watching the ocean views. Cause sometimes you just want a cold drink with the ocean as your backyard and nothing but silence besides the birds chirping or the passerby's of an engine. A band does play here but being it wasn't even noon, it was to early to enjoy them but I've heard great things. If your in the mood for a cool relaxed vibe with good drinks and cool views, this is it!

Ellie B.

Yelp
Horrible, rude bartender We came here on Wednesday march 3rd and Thursday march 4th- this review is concerning the behavior of the bartender on Thursday the 4th since the 3rd was great. So we came on Thursday March 4th, walked in and immediately wanted to leave because the one bartender ignored us even though no one else was ordering drinks-he was too busy talking to his buddies. No big deal, island life, we're not in a hurry! We pet his dog which was behind the counter next to a parrot that was sitting on the counter. We love pets so that's super awesome they allow them to be there! We finally order a drink and he is super rude to us, then proceeds to YELL-at the top of his lungs-at the (max) 10 patrons inside the bar to "PUT ON YOUR MASKS NOW WHETHER YOU ARE DRINKING OR NOT" ok, understandable, maybe a little harsh, but totally get that you want to follow the law(while your dog is standing up on the bar counters and behind the bar ??) We let that go, started talking to some friendly tourists, and within 30 seconds he starts screaming at everyone again "PUT YOUR MASKS ON OR GET THE FUCK OUT" so, we got the F out as did everyone else in the bar. Now here's the issue we had with this-everyone was being respectful and he DID NOT HAVE HIS MASK ON WHILE YELLING AT US. Not only that---he let his buddies by the pool table walk around with NO MASKS the entire time while bullying others. He clearly hated tourists and the locals there said that he is always like this to anyone he doesn't know. After this we went to Sharkeys- now we know why Caribbean club was dead that night. Disgusting way to treat your customers. We asked around and everyone knew exactly who we were talking about- Everyone said YEP that's Donovan! He's a huge jerk! So apparently they guy has a reputation for being awful to everyone and yet he's still a bartender there. I don't mind wearing masks, or not wearing masks, or pets or anything. But don't be SCREAMING at people for not wearing a mask(while DRINKING and SEATED) when your giant dog is jumping on people, and counters, and you literally brought a dog gate to keep your dog BEHIND the bar. 3 different people that we had just met said they would be reporting them to the health department. Sad for the owners. Would give one star but we had a great time Wednesday night (March 3rd) so 2 stars for that!

Susan C.

Yelp
Fun local bar! Beautiful views, terrific live music, great service and delicious drinks! Highly recommend! I'm

Jami W.

Yelp
Great spot for drinks, sunsets, and live music. Local spot. Come hang and drink. Cash only but ATM is inside

Kezia D.

Yelp
Cash only? It's 2023. we rented a boat with promises of bluetooth. Nothing. I wasted at least an hour trying to figure it out for my friends. I asked to wait to take off until we figure out the Bluetooth.. nothing. When we did figure it out (only worked on captains phone) the speakers were busted.. also The owner , "Laurena" gave us the wrong directions, and when we told her in person, she said well, you could use Google or GPS. That was not professional at all. That's all I have to say. 30 dollar discount was not enough for me bringing my friends from Brasil.

Bill W.

Yelp
Best reasonable chill place and sunsets in the Northern keys.Cash bar bring your pet and enjoy.

Paul J.

Yelp
This is the oldest bar in key largo. Sadly it allows smoking and is for that crowd. I'm guessing live music at night makes it popular. It has a fireplace and it was a cool Dec day so they had fire which was cool. They filmed the movie Key Largo here.

Howard B.

Yelp
Perfect for what it is. The Caribbean Club is a solid 3. Caribbean Club is also a perfect dive. You have everything you would expect here when visiting a dive bar and more scenery and character to boot. They do not serve food but they do have 1 snack item which is smoked fish, ... and it is pretty good. The important thing to know is that there are plenty of beers and cheap drinks. Service is reliable also. There is also a nice back patio with outdoor seating. I have usually chillaxed there while stopping in on my way back to Miami after some kayaking in the Keys. Bottom line, if you just want a drink or three this is a good choice. Cheers!

Jacob S.

Yelp
First time stopping here on recommendation of a local bartender at the MM88 tiki. I could see this place being quite entertaining on a Friday or Saturday night. I was here mid day Saturday and was quite low key. Quick service and pretty good view. Not a bad spot to get out of the sun and grab a quick one. Although it was open air it was actually quite comfortable sitting at the bar. Don't forget it is cash only, no credit cards but ATM is on site.

Caroline T.

Yelp
It is cash only with no real notification of this. The bartender took my order as I was holding my credit card without saying anything about it being cash only. The outside area was nice on the water though, despite the smokers.

Jess S.

Yelp
Cash only drinks were good but not much of inside sitting and outside is very limited and no shade. It's the view they appealed us to go. The service is fair and I did not see anyone cleaning tables.

Barry M.

Yelp
It was our second day in the Everglades National Park and we went south looking for a place for a cocktail, seat to watch the sunset, and a place that was dog friendly. Gosh, we almost passed this place by. We did a Uturn and came back. They had a full bar, seating out by the ocean, that was covered with sand and shade trees. A gift to us. I went in and ordered a draft and a pina colada. The inside of the bar was smoky and do friendly. It was also cash only. I paid gladly and we sat under a shade tree, with our dog, and watched the sunset. There is nothing fancy about this place but it was a gift from the heavens. If you are ever on Key Largo - give this place a try. We will go back over and over - Rover.

Suzanne H.

Yelp
Great sunsets. We walked in the front door and due to the smoke walked out the back door. But, caught the sunset at the right moment. It's an old place and looks like it's a favorite to the locals.

Steven V.

Yelp
My family has a tradition to stop a Caribbean club as the first stop on the way to the keys. After hearing many of their stories about the back patio I had to see for myself! I was not disappointed. This is a divey bar, expect that, but the charm is unique. We came early, got great service (cash only,) became friends with Sophie the cute yellow lab and found a spot on the back patio. Once we sat down, looked out at the water, we knew we were in paradise. Well at least compared to Cleveland, OH. This spot relieves the stress of life with a beautiful view and helps you step in the shoes of island life.

Allison S.

Yelp
Dive Bar is right... This place was a dead zone. Dark, dusty, dirty. YUCK! We practically had to beg the bartender for a drink. I'd say it must be a local hang out? Everyone in here was in a fog and a daze. Bummer. Outside was beautiful and the water was epic. There were boats pulling up and that was festive. I'd say skip it.

Hu N.

Yelp
Great choice for sunset in KL. Booze only though there is a food truck serving tacos that we didn't try. Lots of 1930s memorabilia from Key Largo movie. Retro vibe, cash only bar. Dog friendly which was fun. Give it a try if in the area and want alcohol with your sunset.

JoCat R.

Yelp
THEY ARE NOT CLOSED!!! We stopped by here for some of their amazing rum runners. It's been a long time tradition to stop here before heading south. What I didn't see where the owners behind the bar as usual. They were always there before. Hope they're ok!! Mark this as a must stop! Tip: Sunsets here are amazing.

Lisa R.

Yelp
We didn't eat here - but we couldn't beat the 3 drinks for $20. Great outside area for very very casual seating

Diana N.

Yelp
Damn! I love a good dive bar, and this one did not disappoint. Great little dive bar, great waitress.... Katie was friendly, funny and engaging. She gave us a great suggestion for another little place close to our hotel, so we're definitely checking that out. The view is dreamy, the service good, and the smile aplenty. Will be back!

Jim R.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by negative reviews - this place is the quintessential keys bar. You can't beat the waterfront atmosphere, the interior mementos "all upon the wall" and the typical keys laid back atmosphere. If you consider yourself "high class" - stay in Miami. Will definitely revisit.

Nikki M.

Yelp
Great locals spot that stays open late. Right on the water with a cool back outdoor area. Lots of Key Largo film memorabilia on the walls. Fun atmosphere. Friendly staff. Highly recommend for a late night out in Key Largo!

Alexa C.

Yelp
It's a one stop shop for everything you need in the keys. Here's why: 1. They have booze and it's inexpensive. 2. Pristine view of the sunset. 3. Boat rentals are easily and economically sourced through this hub. 4. The music is always pumping. 5. The parking is a breeze. 6. Last, but not least- you can kick you feet up on the picnic tables and soak in everything Key Largo has to offer. You can't go wrong with this spot. Sure at night the crowd gets iffy but it's the keys dude- lighten up!

Marissa H.

Yelp
Was surprised at how open the venue was. There were many different age and social groups at the bar. Karaoke was super fun. The bartenders were very accommodating to veterans (especially females) and weren't biased at all. It was a memorable experience to say the least. We will be back. Drinks were yummy.

Lauren R.

Yelp
Went here thinking we'd unwind to some smooth Caribbean music but the live band played Rock n Roll the entire time. Really??

Dallas A.

Yelp
If you're looking for a little hole in the wall for a drink with a great view and fun atmosphere then this is your place! We stopped in a Monday night and had a couple of drinks. Trivia night was going on with a lot of locals and it was so fun! The bartenders were very friendly, and the water view is great out back. Just be aware that it is a cash only establishment and they do allow smoking inside.

Tiffany D.

Yelp
There's something really gritty and awesome about old dive bars. They have so much history and their walls have so many stores. The crib, as it's lovingly known to locals, is no different! It's one of the oldest bars in the keys and it shows. The inside is somewhat dark and dingy, with Christmas lights and lots of kitschy keys decor. It's got its share of salty dogs and professional drunks who call it their spot. The servers are very kind and attentive. The back porch is where it's at, though! They've got the best bayfront views and the sunsets are amazing. There's a sandy area in front of a stage where performances often happen or parties rent out. There's a big parking lot right in front, a live band many nights, a boat launch right on site, and lots of cheap booze. Later in the night, the crowd becomes somewhat questionable, but I've always felt like I was amongst friends who would keep me safe.

Chrys R.

Yelp
Not too much to say. It is a dive with the usual old drunks and dogs sleeping under the pool table. But a dive with a great view and super fun atmosphere. Drinks are cheap, service is good if you are not a pain and the locals interact well with the tourists. I feel the need to answer all these one star reviews of this place: first, I didn't even know they served food, it is not a place to eat, go down the road a bit and eat at the 4 restaurants at walking distance. Second: if you walk in all feeling like you belong and take forever ordering or start asking: "what is good?", chances are you will think people are rude. If you want a clean cut, cute server telling you her name is Brittany and she will be your server today, stay in Ft Lauderdale.

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Caribbean Club is my dad's favorite spot in Key Largo, and he specifically asked for a tshirt from there for Father's Day. He had gotten one years ago and it was his favorite shirt but he recently got paint on it. I went on their website but didn't see a shop, so I looked them up on Instagram and messaged about purchasing a shirt (I live almost five hours away) to my surprise I got a very quick response and they were really helpful working with me to find the right shirt for him. He was so thrilled to see it when it came in the mail! A huge shoutout to Katie at Caribbean Club for going above and beyond to help me out with this special gift! She was so nice and helpful, I really appreciate the customer service she provided. Thank you again!!
