"Caribbean Haven is a restaurant known for its flavorful Caribbean cuisine, including dishes like jerk chicken and curry goat. It has grown significantly since its opening in 2017, overcoming challenges such as the pandemic and becoming a community favorite. The restaurant is the brainchild of Hutton John, who has leveraged his extensive food background and strategic planning to create a successful business. The original location is in Ventura, with new locations opening in Thousand Oaks and Oxnard." - Farley Elliott

This place is one of my new favorite places after just one visit!!! I got the jerk chicken and the flavor on that was unlike anything I’ve ever had! Kudos cooks and recipe divisor! I (think) met the owner who took my order and was very helpful to align me with the perfect dish for me, prepared in the perfect manner. She was very friendly and easy on the eyes. She had no airs about her, she was palling around with the cooks like she’d known them her entire life. Her big bright smile didn’t leave her face. The quality of chicken was EXCELLENT, they’re not cutting corners like a lot of places these days. If you want a delicious, high quality meal, at a very reasonable rate- this is the place for you! I could not speak more highly of a restaurant.

Google
Very tasty jerk. Solid menu includes vegan options along with tri tip tacos, traditional jerk chicken with rice n peas and spicy coleslaw. Jerk Burgers with fries etc. Go for a bowl or a plate or roti wrap. Sweet Plantains, corn on the cob and Mixed greens round out the menu along with a few Filipino faves. Busy Thursday - Sunday but open 7 days. Atmosphere gets 3 stars for no music. Otherwise very clean and wood tables/seats. Decent decor.

This is one of mine & my boyfriend’s favorite restaurant in Ventura. The food is always fabulous and the service is great. My favorite is the Rasta pasta with tofu and his is the eggplant stir fry. We always order extras like mac and cheese and lumpia. It’s way too much food for one sitting, but we take it home and eat the leftovers over the weekend. We just don’t want to miss out on anything and the flavors all pair so well together. We are looking forward to trying more on the menu. Lots of solid veggie items too!

Google
I can't wait to come back to this spot to try more dishes! I wanted everything ... ended up with the classic jerk chicken bowl, but could not resist getting some sweet plantains on the side as well. Delicious, filling, may have to use them to cater an event in the future because there just aren't other places with this kind of flavor in our area. YUM!

Google
Really good Caribbean food. It’s very flavorful and the staff have been nice each time I’ve visited. I usually order to go because I’m always working. Not sure why this place isn’t more packed because it’s definitely good eats! I have had the jerk platter/plate with chicken and tri-tip, the spicy coleslaw, jerk fries with the most delicious jerk condiment, and the plantains which I love! I also had the empanadas which never made it out of the parking lot! I eat them right there. I love experiencing other foods and cultures and there aren’t a lot of Caribbean spots in Texas so this was a pleasant and much needed break from Tex-mex. lol. Again, good food, nice staff, and seems like it would be a cool environment but I just don’t eat in. I recommend!

Google
Fantastic Caribbean food! The rice and peas are great. The oxtail is to die for. Can't go wrong with the curry goat, or jerk chicken either. We live in Santa Barbara and wish there was one here, but in the meantime we stop by every time we pass through Ventura. Do yourself a favor and have a meal or three.

Walked in and was greeted by the sweetest person on the planet who also asked what we liked and gave many options to help us decide. first was the beef Pattie’s. Something I try every time they are available…This was the Best beef pattie Crust I’ve ever had.. The beef inside was sorta dry for my taste but still very flavorful. I’m from NY so I’m used to Jamaicans making fresh patties. Maybe moisten the mixture and you’ll have a hit with me. I also had the pork kebabs with white rice, pretty plain and basic, but was very well seasoned and tasty. My kid had the tofu curry and didn’t like it that much they complained the the curry was not flavorful enough. We both loved the Jerk Chicken but thought the peas and rice were too dry for our tastes the plantains were great . Personally overall with the great menu size and the mixed variety I’d like to go back and try a couple of more items however, I don’t think I’ll be able to get anybody to come back with me as everyone I ate with had disappointing meals. Definitely worth a visit.

This place was amazing in every way! The food (even vegan options retain authenticity and flavor), delicious, good portions, and unique! The owner is so kind and the atmosphere is nice!

Yelp
Where do I even begin? This place is absolutely phenomenal! The food is incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. A little background about me--I grew up with a father who cooked Caribbean dishes regularly, so I'm pretty familiar with authentic Caribbean flavors and the unique differences between island cuisines. I can confidently say that this restaurant is right on par with the best home-cooked Caribbean meals I've had. What's more, they offer Filipino dishes that are just as delicious. I've sampled a wide variety of their menu, including rotis, patties, chicken wings, jerk chicken plates, coconut shrimp, oxtail, rasta pasta, churrasco, jerk fries, Filipino BBQ pork, and the cassava pie. Every time I visit, I'm eager to try something new, and they've never disappointed! That said, I do have a personal favorite--the Curry Chicken Roti. It's absolutely incredible. I genuinely love this place, and whenever I'm passing through Ventura, it's a must-stop for me! Highly recommend!

Yelp
This was my first time trying this spot and the staff were super helpful! Also, the inside is super clean and nicely decorated. I tried the jerk chicken pasta which was really tasty and a good portion. Definitely was a great introduction and I can't wait to try out this place more in the future.

Yelp
So delicious! I ordered the chicken pancit and he ordered the steak plate. The chicken breast pieces were perfectly seasoned, and the carrots with green beans were in a tasty sauce over the noodles.. perfection! His steak was cooked perfectly, served with rice and beans! What we were surprised by was how much we loved the coleslaw.. because we don't even like coleslaw!!! We have been coming here for years, everything is always so good.. including the kindest service, check it out!

Yelp
I would say more like 4.5 stars. The prices seemed a little too high. I dined in. And the music was really nice. The booth that I sat in felt sturdy and the environment was clean. The dishes were attractive, plated well, and very tasty. I was surprised at how many options there were for vegetarian things. And they were all good. The food was ready in a timely manner and all the ingredients seemed fresh. Very original flavors(at least to me). I recommend this spot. It's definitely worth trying. I was going to get a dessert and ended up having a meal.

Yelp
Since this place opened, the Filipina half of me began screaming excitedly since Yelp suggested it to me. Me and my dad decided to go to Caribbean Haven and scope it out a while ago. We went inside around 5:30, and it was pretty empty. I ordered the Haven Bowl with Jerk Chicken, and my dad ordered the Jerk Plate with Tri Tip. Our cashier was very friendly, he recommended the Jerk Chicken to me. As we waited for our food, it was pretty quiet save for some unique music, but as time went on, more people came in. Our food came in about 10 minutes later. Whew! I thought I had a good spicy tolerance, but the food was SPICY!! Even my dad, who douses his burritos and breakfast omelettes with hot sauce, was feeling it. Aside from that, my chicken was delicious. I definitely recommend it for the person who would like to be introduced to Caribbean food. Even though it was very spicy, the flavors were there, and it's very juicy and delicious. I probably wouldn't go again, the food is spicy and the other half of my family (mom and sister) aren't very tolerant of spice in general, so I'm not sure it's for us. However, the food was good, and I'd go again to try the Filipino food.

Yelp
Ventura has lots of hidden gems, and this is definitely one of them. I was curious about Caribbean & Filipino fusion, and was surprised to find a place like this in Ventura county of all places. We came for a later dinner about 1 hour before closing. There was no music, so it didn't have that fun and lively vibe I read everyone else talking about but that was bad timing on our part. We ordered the adobo chicken wings, jerk chicken plate, and vegetable pancit. The chicken wings were probably my favorite dish- loaded with flavor. The veggie pancit exceeded my expectations. There were lots of veggies loaded and it was a nice dish to balance out our heavier meat dishes. I was most excited about the jerk chicken plate, but was a little disappointed. While the chicken was tasty, it was a bit cold. The rice and peas was delicious! I didn't particularly care for the cole slaw. They do allow you to swap the cole slaw for plantains, but unfortunately they didn't have any left. I think I would've had a better experience if I came earlier in the day, so I'll have to try that out next time!

Monica S.

Yelp
The owner was patient while we decided what we wanted to order. We went with a chicken curry roti, jerk chicken roti and a halo halo to go. It didn't take long before our order was complete and we took off to the beach to enjoy our food. The halo halo was good with the ube ice cream and flan. I couldn't finish it all, it's a generous size. It did have a lot of plantain so if that's not your thing you may not enjoy this. The curry chicken roti was delicious sand hit the spot. You can really taste the curry and it's a lot of good. I had it for two meals. The jerk chicken was excellent too, not too spicy just the right amount for it to be enjoyable. I'd love to try their other dishes.

Yelp
Delicious food period. Totally different from what I've tried. Kind service. Fair prices. Ample seating and easy parking. I can't wait to come back and try other things but I don't live too close by! Definitely worth stopping in if you haven't tried this place yet!

Cole B.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I always stop by when we're in Ventura! Always delicious. Huge portions. Can't go wrong with any of the jerk plates.

Kire K.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem! So glad that we tried this place! I am picky when it comes to lumpia and pansit and this place nailed it! Their lumpia and pansit are far better than the other filipino places we've been! We also ordered the bbq and they were scrumptious! We will definitely come back and try the other food that they have. Also every 1st of the month there's live music playing! They're so talented!

Greg V.

Yelp
Went out with the wife and her friends to this little gem I had no idea even existed. A combo of food surprises which included Caribbean food, of course , and Filipino food too. The people behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. I went for the bbq pork skewers, pancit, chicken adobo and lechon kawali. Coming from The Bay Area, these are all comfort foods for me. I asked that it be served family style so all who were in attendance could enjoy and they happily obliged. I was pleasantly surprised finding Filipino food in a Caribbean spot and as I demolished my order, I was peeping out what others had ordered on the Caribbean side. I regrettably did not get pics of their delectables but they sure seemed to be enjoying them. Half the group was vegetarian and there were plenty of options for them too (and I got to take some of my order home because of that lol). Little spot with cool vibes, fun music which was hits from the decades in Island fashion, tables to fit singles, couples and large parties like ours up to 12. Each table had a placard which included info on the many different Caribbean islands which we collected and read to each other. Then we all picked a spot for our "future vacation spot". Fun, delicious and welcoming place you never knew was there. Go check it out and let me know what you think!

Yelp
Fresh and delicious food, helpful staff, inviting and clean dining area. I remembered this place from a previous visit (about 5 years ago) and decided to come back with my mom. So glad we came. She loved her salmon salad. My vegan red bean and squash stew had a great flavor and was served with beans/rice and cole slaw with vegan sriracha dressing. Both serving sizes were large enough to take some home. The staff were so patient with us even though we arrived 25 min before closing, providing recommendations and answering mom's million questions with good humor. I want to try the cauliflower sandwich and jerk tofu so I'll try to make it back for one more visit before my trip is over!

Zsanae K.

Yelp
So happy to have some authentic Caribbean flava in VC! The restaurant is colorful and fun. They have something for everyone on the menu. The veggie spinach patty was flavorful and buttery. The jerk portobello was unique and satisfying. There's so many other items on the menu I want to try. I can't wait to come back.

Heidi B.

Yelp
Enjoyed a yummy meal with my roommates here! Everything was delicious. Gotta get back!

Joyce E.

Yelp
Oxtail stew is delicious! I cannot recommend it enough. Full of flavor, tender fall off the bone deliciousness. If you're in the Ventura area, you must stop by!

Erica G.

Yelp
I found out about this restaurant as it's sister restaurant in Oxnard, The Haven is closing October 1,2023! Happy I checked them out. Great customer service. It's a casual sit down eatery. You order at the counter and choose your seat. I got jerk tri tip, lumpias, and kids pancit all for a reasonable price.

Moo M.

Yelp
Curry goat was top tier. The oxtails, I was not a fan of them. Also not a fan of the salad even though it could have been amazing. Cilantro in salad? Yeah nah. Otherwise will return.

Yelp
My family and I ate here Easter Sunday because we were all tired of cooking/cleaning. Best move of the day! We have a mix of plant-eaters/mostly plant eaters/ some meat-eaters, and a full on carnivore so we tried a variety of foods. Being a mostly plant-eater myself I really loved that all the vegetarian/vegan options were green on the lighted menu...made ordering so easy. The restaurant was clean, bright and pretty full with customers, and the man who took our order was nice and accommodating to our needy group. So far so good. Okay, here are our honest opinions... APPETIZERS Oxtail Mac n' Cheese - NEW item. This was creamy where it was supposed to be, savory where it was supposed to be and according to one family member "the best thing I ate today!" Caulifire - NEW item. I didn't know cauliflower could look so beautifully appetizing yet taste even better! A perfectly seasoned and roasted cauliflower dripping with a sweet & sour sauce that was divine. No kidding. We ate the whole thing and commented how good it was with every bite. Get this even if you're not a cauliflower fan! Not spicy at all. SIDES Roti - our first time trying it. What a fun bread that we loved by itself . Pro tip: dip this in the sweet & sour sauce from the Caulifire. Yum! Sweet Plantain - as good as you'll find in any restaurant in the Caribbean. They weren't soggy at all which I appreciated. Curry Jerk Fried with Tofu - a spicy and balanced mix of flavors (curry & jerk) that seasoned the tofu perfectly, slathered on top of skinny fries, which made them the best kinda soggy. MAINS Curry Goat - I was told it was very good. Serious curry flavor. Again, tender meat, no fat. Jerk Plate with Chicken - We've eaten a ton of this staple and it was very tasty. The chicken was tender and flavorful and yes, spicy. The beans and rice were great, not oily as can sometimes be the case. The cabbage had a tasty creamy drizzle that was a nice touch. If you like jerk chicken this is a winner. Jerk Tri-Tip Sandwich - a GIANT sandwich that could feed 2 (or more) people! The meat wasn't fatty at all...it was tender, and again, just the right amount of seasoning. This came with a great amount of skinny fries. Another recommendation here. MISC Jerk Meat Pie - delicious and moist crust, inside was meaty and very spicy. DESSERT Halo Halo - we had never heard of this Filipino dessert so we had to try it. As you'll see, it has a ton of ingredients mixed in...some we liked...some were so-so. The Ube ice cream was my favorite. Overall a cool combination that you should try. Could UBE Love - NEW item. A cool play on the song! This was very delicious. A warm, spongy, fruity UBE cake, sitting on, and drizzled with, a delectable passion fruit sauce, topped with a scoop of creamy ice cream. A match made in heaven! I'll definitely get this again. Flan - a generous sized piece as good as I've eaten, served warm and super carmely.... Sooo good. If you a flan fan like me, get this. Or if not, still get it, you might just turn into one. As you can see, we really tried a lot of food, but there is so much more that we cannot wait to try. This place is worth the drive, I can't recommend it enough.

Yelp
After a 3 hour walk/shopping at the Premium Outlet, we decided to have a late lunch here. My SO have been here a lot and he's been raving about the food. Upon entering, we were greeted enthusiastically and welcomed. I ordered the Famous Rasta Pasta with Chicken. Pasta is cooked to perfection, well seasoned and the spice is just the right amount. It was a lot so I took home half of it. We even ordered one to go. My SO ordered the Jerk Burger. He is a burger type of guy so he finished it in no time. The fries are piping hot and crispy on the outside but soft inside. I will surely come back for more and will try the other items on the menu. I chatted with the server and mentioned that they have another restaurant with live performances. That's something to check it out when I am in the area. Casual and you can sit anywhere. Ample parking.

Doc P.

Yelp
Always love coming here! The jerk Rasta pasta never fails, it's so good and packed with flavor! The jerk curry fries are the loaded with flavor as well. Also the crispy pineapple wings are delicious and they got Jamaican sodas to wash it all down.

Danyelle P.

Yelp
Drove an 1 and 45 to this spot Best decision I've made this week, friendly and fast service! Ordered the Beef Lumpia and the Haven Bowl with Oxtail. The Haven bowls came with rice and peas and a cabbage salad and was the perfect amount along with the generous portion of oxtail! Each plate was hot and fresh from the kitchen. A great place to stop for lunch inside the plaza its in :) Bonus points because they were playing Sade inside lol

Mitchell L.

Yelp
Very friendly service, very laid back vibes which you'd expect from a Caribbean place. There was Carribean music playing, which was pleasant. The place also serves Filipino food. Will have to try that next time. This was my first time trying this place, and we tried the Carribean empanadas. One with spinach, and the other with just meat. Both were good, but the meat one stood out and had a perfect amount of spice. For the dishes we tried the Jerk Chicken Haven Bowl and the Jerk burger and fries. The Haven bowl was delicious and fresh and was a good size portion. The Jerk Burger was unique in a good way. Definitely a flavor bomb and was juicy and fresh.

Kim C.

Yelp
I ate here when they first opened and my first thought was "there's no way it's this good... maybe it's just a fluke." Fast-forward to my 50th visit now, it has always been delicious and consistent. Interior decor is fun and colorful with a clear, organized menu; option to sit at high tops, booths, tables or outside (which I love). The staff member who greeted me today was upbeat, professional and beyond accommodating! She let me swap sides and order a smaller portion of the Filipino pork skewer so I could get a sample. So cool! Most places love to say no so this was a huge plus! They cook everything to order and bring it out to you which I prefer. Fresh food that's not sitting under a heat lamp? Yes please! I've had almost everything on their menu and I've never been disappointed. The flavor, spice, portions, sauces... to die for. We came for my dad's birthday last year with a group of 10 and there was something for everyone. We all loved our food and had a great time. Winners for me: pancit, jerk chicken, pork skewer, Ube dessert, plantains, lumpia and mac n cheese... but you seriously can't go wrong here! I'm looking forward to trying their new spot, The Haven at White Sails. But for now, this is close to me and if I could eat here everyday, I WOULD! Definitely give this Caribbean gem a try! Yummm!

Samarle O.

Yelp
Food: 8/10 Jerk Plate Tri Tip 7/10 All their entrees come with some form of rice along with spicy Cole slaw. Tri tip was tender. Jamaican flavor was definitely there but a bit muted in my opinion. Braised Oxtail Stew 6/10 The oxtail stew had the same Jamaican flavors as the tri tip. Small oxtail pieces. Not particularly my kind of flavor overall. Felt like it didn't go well with the oxtail. Sadly there wasn't a lot of meat on the oxtail either. Filipino BBQ Pork 10/10 BEST dish we had there! This spot would make Filipinos proud! Rice was a bit dry and tasted like day old rice but man oh man those BBQ pork skewers were GOOD! Eggplant Choka 5/10 My least favorite dish we got there that night. Which is really a shame because normally I love eggplant. Had a bit of a kick to it due to the spice or chili in the dish. Also tasted kind of tangy and sour, which made me a little confused. Service 8/10 The cashier lady was nice. They seemed a little understaffed but overall nothing much to complain about. Ambiance: The interior decor is made so that it resembles a neighborhood that you may see in Jamaica. Pretty cute in my opinion. Spacious on the inside. Tips: Parking lot is huge so you shouldn't have to worry about parking. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a little corner so you really have to look for it, especially if they don't have their sign lit up. It's right in the corner in between Poke land and Q&Q Hawaii BBQ.

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! We stopped in on our way down to Oxnard based on reviews. It did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and the indoor dining is comfortable. Between us we had: Veggie Lumpia Beef Empanadas Jerk chicken Jamaican patty Baby back ribs Mac n cheese Cauliflower tacos Everything was made fresh and was outstanding. The ribs fell off the bone and the empanadas and patty were flaky and seasoned perfectly. The cauliflower tacos were loaded with flavor and rivaled any meat taco I've ever had. We will definitely stop in again when we are in the area!

Mark M.

Yelp
One of the best empanadas I've ever tasted. I keep coming back for more. Service is amazing and the owner is very nice. Ambiance is great. Definitely a hidden gem that's needs to be discovered.

Jara S.

Yelp
Another #BlackOwned on Yelp review, stopped by this weekend because Melissa L influenced me lol. Always love coming here, the place in non assuming, reminds me so much of island living, felt comfortable coming in in scrubs or sweatpants whenever I visit. The pancit here is non other, my top spot. The noodles are flavorful and they don't go cheap on the veggies or chicken. The Jerk chicken! All the spices, next level. Also the unsung hero, the rice n peas! It has some heat, but doesn't linger, the coconut milk in it just adds another level of flavor. The Halo Halo is the traditional one, straighforward. Sweet beans, ube ice cream and jellies. The Owner is also very nice in the rare time you catch him in the restaurant, he volunteers for community drives and it just makes supporting the business so much sweeter

Jackie X.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday around 6 pm. There's a good size parking lot that's shared between multiple businesses, including a Q&Q Hawaiian next door. It was pretty empty which was surprising based on how popular the reviews make it out to seem! The employees working were quick and friendly. The person who served our food was funny as well. The inside has plenty of seating and spacious booths. There's dark wood everywhere and it kinda reminded me of the Krusty Krab. We ate in. We decided to get 1 beef empanada (should have tried a patty too!) and 1 order of lumpia to share. I got the jerk chicken Rasta pasta and my partner got the curry chicken Rasta pasta. Total was around $50 without tip. The empanadas came out quickly. We were surprised they gave us an extra! They were warm on the outside but a little cold on the inside, no worries since they tasted delicious! The lumpia on the other hand were piping hot through and through. We got 6 beef lumpia in a $5 order. They were crispy and yummy. The jerk chicken Rasta pasta was delicious and there was so much. Both pastas had vegetables but the chicken curry came with some more variety. There was plenty of chicken on both dishes. The only thing we'd ask for differently next time is for a little more sauce (there were a lot of noodles!). The flavor was a little weak but still yummy. We ate all of the appetizers and most of the entrees because we had been hiking all day. Took the rest of the entrees home in to-go containers. Overall a great experience! I would definitely recommend. Decent but plentiful food and friendly staff for a great price! There are many options on the menu as well so I want to go back to try other things. Too bad we were too full and it was cold out to try the halo halo.

Yelp
In honor of supporting # Black Owned Businesses for the Month of February here in the 805, my friend and I made it a point to come today after we had been eyeing this spot for many years but we were unsure as we aren't accustomed to Caribbean food. Now I can say my biggest regret was passing up this place all of this time! Had I known how amazing the food was going to be I would have been here way sooner. Good old Yelp always hyping me up to try new businesses, this one was a win and a 10/10. If you are reading this and were like me, on the fence as you don't understand or know enough about the cuisine or culture, please don't miss out on this spot any longer, as you'll be hooked! The interior and atmosphere of this restaurant is very casual and laid back. Inside the restaurant was clean and spacious with plenty of tables to sit. The menu board is super extensive they have so many wonderful looking dishes, makes it really hard to narrow down your choices. The staff here seem super knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to the menu. We overheard the cashier making suggestions to a couple of gals in front of us, the cashier was patient and super kind. Plus it was a bonus for us who hung back and listened to his recommendations. When it was our turn to order he was super nice and friendly. I also like that if your dining in they bring your food to the table. The cashier had hustle as he was taking orders, brining our food out, and bussing tables. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. For an appetizer and entree it ran us each about $20 which was reasonable and again, the plates are massive! Even their appetizers could easily feed 2-3 people. And the entrees leave you with enough to take home leftovers. The food was 10/10 delicious! I am obsessed. For appetizers we got the pork lumpia and French fries. The lumpia didn't taste as traditional as I am used to but they were still delicious, more like a Chinese small egg roll then a proper Filipino lumpia (in my experience) but again they were tasting and freshly fried. The big surprise were the French fries. I normally don't order a side of fries at a restaurant but my friend opted for them. I'm so glad she did because these French fries taste like McDonald's French fries (we know this is an important tidbit & if you get it - you get it). A staple of fried thin delicious goodness, totally always getting a side of fries here now. For our entrees we got the grilled pork belly and jerk chicken. My grilled pork belly was so tasty. A huge portion and it was perfectly fatty and juicy, how I like my pork belly. The light bbq sauce on the grilled pork was delish. The side of white rice and spicy slaw were a wonderful side. My friend really enjoyed her jerk chicken, she said it was flavorful and well cooked. I am so happy to have finally given this spot a shot as the food, service, and pricing are on point. What a great local business, I understand the hype now. I'm definitely coming back soon to try their pancit and jerk pasta!

Sal A.

Yelp
If you come here , you're paying for flavor , not portion size , unfortunately. Don't expect to leave with a full stomach unless you're willing to pay $40+ minimum. I will say that their oxtail bowl is delicious, but would it hurt to fill the bowl with more rice? Their portions are truly ridiculous. If you order the ox tail bowl like I did , there is more bone than meat on your plate . I'm guessing that for about $20, not including a drink , you're getting about 2.5 ounces of meat and 6oz of bone . Portion Sizes: 1 Flavor: 5 Value: 1 Service : 3

Yelp
Pretty Good! Pretty Good! I was happy to see VEGAN options! They have a lot of choices, but I wish they had more vegan choices. Not disappointed but, I was wishing for the BBQ Skewers to have a vegan option with tofu, pineapple, onions. Bell peppers. With or without tofu. Also really wished they had an island style fruit bowl. Just a nice big bowl of melons, pineapple, etc. Coconut water would be good. Also really wished they had a salad. But they do have some great choices. I ended up getting the curry with the brown rice. It was so good! My husband enjoyed his BBQ too. More Filipino dishes would be good. Also they didn't have menu's to hold in your hand. You have to look up at a big digital screen. While that's great for younger people, some of us older people strain to see and would be better to sit down and relax and take time to look over the menu a bit. Overall a nice little place, clean and good customer service. Looking forward to seeing if they add more vegan options and more Filipino foods!!! 4 stars because no hand held menus and not as much Filipino food or Vegan options as I would like. More Filipino food, especially Sinegang, Crispy Patas and fruit bowls. And definitely wish for salads. But biggest disappointment was honestly no hand held menus. Sorry. Some of us need that.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with my partner and we absolutely LOVED it! We dined in and our food was fresh and ready in a reasonable amount of time. I had the jerk chicken plate which came with spicy coleslaw and rice and peas. The chicken was moist and flavorful. Surprisingly it was not spicy but I'm sure you could ask them to amp up the spice level if you prefer. The rice and peas were amazing, and so was the coleslaw. My partner had the Filipino BBQ pork skewers which I had a taste of and enjoyed as well. We split an order of vegetable lumpia which was crispy, flavorful, and came with a wonderful sweet and sour dipping sauce. Of course, we had to get some of the Ube ice cream to go and it was just as amazing. This place is a wonderful hidden gem in the Ventura area. Go and give them a try!

Yelp
The food here is so impressive. An absolute must when in Ventura and looking for something comforting but also interesting and flavorful. The spices are not overpowering but distinctive. You can choose your level of spicy. The ambience is relaxing and comfortable. The service is impeccable with the owners often at the front helping to guide you through the menu and specials. This is the only place I will go for oxtail as it is the perfect flavor and texture. So soft and delicious. Please support this family restaurant, you won't regret it and you will be back time and again like me!

Yelp
A great spot to get Caribbean and Filipino food. Lots of standards and more unusual picks like goat curry and oxtail. I like that they have several vegetarian options as well. The restaurant is bright and cheerful and they make the food fresh when you order it. And they have empanadas and halo halo!

Yelp
Stoped in not expecting anything more than typical to go food and was pleasantly surprised. Had a shrimp po-boy, with fries and an order of Mac and cheese. I was blown away by how good and fresh the food was. It's definitely underrated restaurant quality. I wanted to try more items but I was stuffed, will definitely be going back soon!

Yelp
Caribbean Haven is an exquisite fusion of Caribbean and Filipino cuisine, nestled in a quaint corner, truly a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. From the moment you step in, the aromatic spices transport you to the vibrant streets of both regions. Each dish is a delightful symphony of flavors, meticulously crafted with love and authenticity. The jerk chicken dances on your palate with its perfect balance of heat and tanginess.

Yelp
This man knows his meats, absolute fire. I had the tri tip bowl and was so good. Come here if you're tryna get jacked.

Yelp
It's OK but not worth the money. I didn't like the jerk tri tip sandwich but maybe if you like jerk seasoning you might like it. If you're looking for good Filipino food in Ventura I would recommend the grill city at Seafood City. Food is much cheaper and honestly it's the best straight Filipino food in town. Not a big fan of these highly rated fusion joints like Caribbean haven and mestiza, from my recent experiences fusion looks like it gives you the worst of both worlds. That said it's a cute place with nice service, just not a fan of the food.

Yelp
Great spot with vegan options. Spice and flavor on the jerk chicken is elite -- and their roti is amazing. 10/10, would recommend.

Yelp
What a little gem fine in Ventura... Phenomenal food, highly recommend this place. The food, taste, environment, ambience all on point... hats off to Bobby, the chef...

Yelp
Unreal. Literally 3 spoonfuls of ice cream for 8 dollars . Come on. I am super disappointed.

Yelp
It is a very casual place to eat geniune filipino and caribbean food. It's interesting how the menu is culturally mixed. The service was amazing as well, laid back and the music was a reggae chill beach vibe. Absolutely loved the people who worked here and they brought a warming personality to my experience.

Yelp
Got the jerk chicken sandwich which comes with fries for $10 which is INSANE, especially in 2024. Was super flavorful and tender. Got a side of plantains too, was really good, saltier than most platanos maduros but that was almost a welcomed change of pace. Staff was friendly and helpful

Yelp
It's been difficult to find good Filipino food in Ventura County. Thank you, Yelpers! Due to your reviews for Caribbean Heaven, we decided to stop by on the way back from Santa Barbara. There were five of us, and no one left hungry, plus we had leftovers. Once inside the cheerfully decorated restaurant, we decided to order a sampling of dishes and share family style. Our choices included chicken pancit (best I've had outside of Dear Hubby's aunties' cooking!) with plentiful chicken and veggies on top. The seasoning was distinctive, making for a hearty dish that tasted extremely fresh and flavorful. We also ordered Chicken Adobo, with a tangy sauce. It came with a side of rice and slaw. Best enjoyed with the sauce drizzled over the rice. We also tried the pork belly and pork skewers. The latter featured a delicious marinade. I could have had an order to myself, but restricted myself to several chunks of the yummy results of grilling tender meat. The space isn't fancy, but it's clean inside, with a good number of tables in the dining room area. Mostly reggae music plays, contributing to an island vibe. The staff is friendly. Portions are generous. DH had to try the halo halo for dessert. While not the best I've had, it was still tasty and a refreshing finish to a tasty meal. We would definitely return for the Filipino dishes, and also to try the Caribbean options. This local spot deserves community support. They were filling a good number of take out orders. Their food lends itself to bringing it home and laying out a filling spread with fam/friends. I'm enjoying leftover pancit right now!

Yelp
I'll start with the empanada, my least favorite of what we ordered. Was really dry! Tasted like it'd been made days before and reheated. Couldn't take more than one bite. Everything else we ordered was decent. I enjoyed my lechon kawali the most. Can't go wrong with fried pork belly, rice and sauce.

Yelp
So so so so much flavor. The pineapple sugar wings are top drawer and, even though they didn't have it on the menu, they made me the best Griot with such deep flavor; I couldn't stop eating even though I was full.

Yelp
I ordered my food through postmates and it was delivered with the bag staples closed and everything well packaged. I look forward to eating in person to see what the establishment is like! The jerk plate is well worth the price. The tritip is tender and well sized, but I would order the extra jerk sauce because I enjoy the flavor. The peas & beans are delicious as well. The coleslaw had the sauce drizzled. It's a great flavor, but be sure to mix well before you dig in. The bottom did not have sauce. The beef lumpia taste just like my Aunty makes! Loved it. The skewers were a little too crispy, but the flavor is yummy and I enjoyed it regardless. I'll be back soon!

Yelp
Walked in and was greeted by the sweetest person on the planet who also asked what we liked and gave many options to help us decide. first was the beef Pattie's. Something I try every time they are available...This was the Best beef pattie Crust I've ever had.. The beef inside was sorta dry for my taste but still very flavorful. I'm from NY so I'm used to Jamaicans making fresh patties. Maybe moisten the mixture and you'll have a hit with me. I also had the pork kebabs with white rice, pretty plain and basic, but was very well seasoned and tasty. My kid had the tofu curry and didn't like it that much they complained the the curry was not flavorful enough. We both loved the Jerk Chicken but thought the peas and rice were too dry for our tastes the plantains were great . Personally overall with the great menu size and the mixed variety I'd like to go back and try a couple of more items however, I don't think I'll be able to get anybody to come back with me as everyone I ate with had disappointing meals. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Update It's been 3 years since I've found this gem and I continue to recommend it. I'm such a fan. Everyone is always so kind and helpful. And the food!?! Always super fresh and delicious! The cassava pie though!!! Absolute drool fest. If I could only eat one every day.... I continue to highly recommend Caribbean Haven!
