We stopped by Carlo's Bakery to treat my mother-in-law and daughters to Buddy's shop, and let me just say—it was hard not to buy everything! The pecan pie was absolutely delicious, the cannolis were fantastic, but the real showstopper was the lobster tails. Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, and filled with the most amazing cream—they were perfection! The experience was made even more special when Lisa came out to say hello to a few fans. Such a nice gesture! If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by and see them. You won’t regret it! 🍰✨

First time back since 2011...if your in town you must go to Carlo's Bakery, he's the cake boss for a reason! Last time we came there was a line out the door but this time on Saturday at 10am ish, no line, no wait. If your ever in the vicinity don't pass it up...worth a little extra driving, wait in traffic, driving in circles to find a parking spot, whatever, just come here ...Cannoli's are my ultimate favorite especially as an Italian you know what one really taste like and this is the real deal! Of course, you want to buy everything and anything because it all is delicious! Now I see they also have coffee drinks and breakfast sandwiches and some type of pizza like thing I seen on the counter. It's a good thing this place is not where I live or else I would be there daily! Love, love, love this place!!

Went right in and picked out the wonderful treats we wanted, which included Strawberry Cheesecake, Buddy's Sample Box with Connoli and Lobster Tails, and a seasonal cupcake. Carlo's Bakery did not disappoint. Everything was amazing.

This was our first time here and we spent a lot of money. We bought lots of sweets and desserts. We came to New Jersey for the Pink concert at MetLife Stadium. This was one of the places we really wanted to come to. The staff are super friendly and we love Cake Boss so it was a must to come. We met Mary, she was amazingly beautiful and very nice. The chocolate cannoli was da bomb. 10 out of 10 stars. Hope to come back again!

Google
The experience for us as loyal customers was horrible the fudge brownie was not even breaking with a spoon was totally dry and tasted stale. And on raising it with the staff they said we cannot replace it as you touched it well without trying to cut it how would we know the horrible brownie they are selling. We threw or brownie in the bin as the staff refused to help in anyway beware of what you eat here and the staff let me say they don’t deserve to be in hospitality given their attitude.

We stopped in right before close on a Saturday night. I got a raspberry almond tart and a chocolate cannoli. The tart was delicious! It was too much to eat at one sitting. The price for both was very reasonable, and they put the tart in a cute little box, which was nice because we were walking around town.

I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday and came from WI to pick it up! Worth it. I ordered the 6in rainbow cake and it was worth the trip. The employee was very nice and sweet, let us take all the pictures we wanted, and even wished her a HBD.

Absolutely phenomenal!! Excellent customer service (didn’t get the young lady name with tattoo on neck/throat) she was truly what I believe Carlos Bakery is representing..she was patient for a 1st timer, kind, recommending amazing choices, and very knowledgeable!! Way to go!! Next time, I hope to meet some of the family members!

Yelp
Thought the bakery could be overrated and I heard it's too sweet. That wasn't the case. I was pleasantly surprised by this bakery. Went on Saturday afternoon. No line and wasn't crowded. The pastries all look good and they weren't too sweet. I ordered the classic lobster tail and cannoli. The lobster tail was amazing!! The pastry was flaky and not sweet. The pastry cream was a bit runny but tasted amazing! And it was filled to the brim. I would definitely get it again. The cannoli was a bit too sweet for my taste, but I've never really been a cannoli fan. This was probably one of the better cannolis I've had though. Service was really nice. Would definitely get the lobster tail if in the area.

Yelp
Food (4/5): We got the cannoli and tres leches. Both were quite good although the cannoli could have been a bit more flavorful. Overall still solid though! Service (4/5): No issues with the service and they got the food out fast. Ambience (5/5): Nice bakery shop interior with fun decorations based on the famous baker. The food is displayed well and the pick up nature is nice.

Yelp
The pastries that I got were a hit or miss for me. Some of them were good like the cannoli and chocolate eclair, but most of the treats were too sweet and pricey.

Thomas W.

Yelp
Paid too much money for some mediocre food. Sausage was rubbery and the cannoli was nothing special. The name on the building is the only thing special about this place.

Yelp
For those of us who have lived in town 10+ years we just don't go here? At least I never do unless I'm with someone visiting or looking to bring a cookie platter somewhere. That said, I stopped by for a sweet treat on Friday evening afternoon dinner and stumbled upon their incredible Tres leches "milk and cookies" cake. SO good and perfect to share (although I didn't really want too lol) would absolutely recommend!! Maybe the locals should start to stop back in... seems they have alot of other items and I even saw breakfast sandwiches? Didn't even know they had those!

Matthew P.

Yelp
Carlos Bakery was honestly a let down. The whole shop is basically a fast paced cash machine. They move you through really quick and you do feel rushed. There was almost no one in the store. I asked for a cannoli - this was not good. Too thick and flavor was only peanut butter. I was excited to try the cake as it is what they're known for. It came prepackaged and was not fresh tasting at all. Big let down. I wouldn't recommend this at all sadly :(

Lucero S.

Yelp
Carlo's Bakery it's just -- good. The pastries did not taste freshly baked from the morning, however it was still good and a pretty big size. The dulce de leche croissant filling was amazing and the size was also generous. Their customer service was great and the location of the bakery is in a really cute town where you can walk around to other stores/restaurants!

Gerard S.

Yelp
Huge premium to pay for a stop at Carlo's bakery in Hoboken. Not a bad cannoli., but Way over priced. Product was fresh and tasty, with a good variety of products . Carlo's earns an extra star because the servers behind the counter the night I stoped in were polite, courteous, and efficient. Check out with your debit card expect to fork over another 18% gratuity to the counter help.

Clay G.

Yelp
Looking for some sweet treats and a fun atmosphere? Look no further than Carlo's Bakery which was made famous by the Cake Boss television show. Get served up anything from cake to cannolis by this Italian bakery. It's service, Italian style.

Chris S.

Yelp
Long time customer but no longer. It is really unfortunate when you can't get a hold of anybody at a corporate headquarters. When you look at their website and online, you cannot find a way to contact the main office. The social media person is great at posting, but does not respond to messages. To me, it shows they really don't care about customer satisfaction.

Yelp
Ordered a classic 6" Carlo's Bakery Chocolate Fudge Cake for a loved one's birthday. Oh my god I was so disappointed. I don't normally complain and always keep my reviews honest, but I really can't recommend this. First of all, I chose expedited shipping and paid extra for this. It still arrived late and contacting customer service all I got was that it was in transit. Thanks. I should've just gone with getting another chocolate fudge cake locally and just dashed my dreams of trying Cake Boss cakes. When it arrived, it was packaged well in dry ice. The instructions are very clear with how to defrost the cake and serve it. Let me tell ya it really was a block of ice. Left it at room temperature for 3 hours just like it said. Sliced into it and it was still sorta frozen so we took a first bite just to see. It was so dry and the frosting was disgustingly sweet, huge mass produced and store bought vibes. God, I was dissatisfied. Then I was like why don't I try warming it up and see if that's better. It was a tiny better, but the cake layers are just dry and lacking a rich chocolate flavor. But also the frosting got semi-slimy so I ended up scraping it off to be able to actually taste the cake again. Such a let down. I have no other words. Almost all of it ended up in the trash. No one liked it and it was so embarrassing. Please don't buy a cake from here. Grew up watching Cake Boss and I'm sorry boss, but this wasn't it.

Cynthia G.

Yelp
Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken, NJ, is a top-notch destination, especially for fans of the TV show "Carlo's Bake Shop." A visit here is a must-have experience. I highly recommend trying the lobster tails, an American twist on the sfogliatelle ricci, made slightly larger and filled with choux paste. Be mindful that there's only street parking, which can be difficult to find, and on weekends, the lines are long, so the staff may rush you inside.

Nadia A.

Yelp
Nice sunny day in Hoboken, the place was kinda busy but not overly packed I was attended to right away and ordered some pastries for my aunt for her birthday as she wanted to have these as she watches the show. Service was great for me, the pastries are pricey but kind of expected. My aunt enjoyed the pastries , I tried the Carmel latte eggclair which was pretty good and not too sweet which was nice at the moment. My aunt enjoyed and that all that mattered.

Jim W.

Yelp
This place is a cardboard cutout of what you'd see if you tune in to the Food Channel. It's plastic; somewhat fake and frankly shows just how much these people value their customers, because so much is pre-packaged. If you order a slice of cake, it will come in PLASTIC PACKAGING with Buddy's smug mug on the wrapper! The cake was moist and actually tasted pretty good, but it could have just as easily come out of a vending machine. If you're coming here to experience an authentic Italian bakery, keep on moving! It'll break your heart. No anise toast or any variety of biscotti. No almond cookies. And if you're looking for struffoli, cuccidati, or amaretti cookies, forget about it! I honestly felt bad for these people; like someone hijacked their heritage or something. Buddy's mother and father are probably spinning in their graves with embarrassment. Don't go here. Let this place die a speedy, albeit not so dignified death. You deserve better. True Italians deserve better. And honestly, Buddy is probably already (I hope) embarrassed by what he's done to his family's legacy.

Avis R. K.

Yelp
Maybe it's because I'm in Indiana and the 3 layer slice of carrot cake has to be sent here by truck or whatever BUT I am not impressed at all with the texture or taste. I followed his series completely and was so excited to see the cake and his picture on the wrapping. So I guess the tv bakery is alot of hype. I could have spent that $4 on anything else. So disappointed!

Yelp
I have had Carlo's bakery a few times since I used to live in Hoboken. Their cakes are awesome and make a great gift for anyone. Typically on weekdays they are not crowded at all so it is very easy to grab a quick treat. Seating wise, there is not a lot of seating available but they have great TO-GO containers. Personally, I would skip on the sweets except for their cannolis which are fabulous. I come here for the cakes, they are famous for their cakes and I have driven 1 hour up to grab one from this particular bakery. Ambiance is overall mid but the service is great. The bakery has a more lowkey vibe to it. Overall, I enjoy coming here and will be back for my cakes in the future! You can expect to spend more than your average cake on a cake here but I promise it is worth it

Wendy H.

Yelp
Typical bakery ambiance, the food was good and service was pleasant. I'd eat there again. Fun novelty of a place to visit.

Gina A.

Yelp
The staff was very friendly and patient as I couldn't decide what to order. I ordered the classic éclair and it did not disappoint! Also, tirmisu was delicious.

Kevin B.

Yelp
We've known about Carlo's for years, but could never get into the bakery since the lines were always insanely long. We got lucky on our last visit to Jersey and the lines were almost nonexistent, so we decided to stop in for a snack. The cakes are definitely pretty and the rainbow cake is as fun as you'd expect it to be. We opted for pastries though and we got one Zeppole and one tiramisu. Both were very, very tasty and I ate every last bit of the cannoli cream. It's a nice pastry shop overall!

Max B.

Yelp
1-7-24 $25 bucks for a 6" cake? and $5 bucks for a small slice? Wow we have stupid buyers. Others have said these convayor belt made cakes are terrible and the cakes are not soft as they were intended. Carlo's has become your typicle fatory made cake shop, where a machine makes these particular cakes so no wonder why these packaged cakes are horrible. Buddys father would be ashamed of buddy. If your known for handmade cakes why these conveyor belt made cakes? Ahhhh just for money selling cakes regardless of taste. Sell sell sell gotta pay for that huge mansion. Pass ill take my money to Porto's where i know its all baked fresh and not a machine.

Patrick W.

Yelp
We were so excited to visit this place. I'm from out of town and it's all we were hoping for. Great service. Amazing pastries.

Ryan V.

Yelp
First time ever trying Carlo's. I wasn't sure what to expect from the other reviews I read but wanted to have an open mind. Ordered a lobster tail and a black and white cookie. The lobster tail was absolutely amazing. Crispy layered light dough with a custard type filling on the inside. Great portion and taste (love the crisp of it). The black and white cookie was just okay. The service was good as there were only two ladies working behind the counter. It is quite overpriced in my opinion but that's to be expected. If you stop by definitely get the lobster tail!

Kelly S.

Yelp
We went for the classic cannoli and it was probably the worst bite we had the entire time in NYC. It wasn't bad, but not as good as everything else we ate in town. Would not return. Just went for the namesake.

Tabitha H.

Yelp
After finding a place to park went into the bakery. There were three people working all helping one guy that was in front of us. They helped him for over 5 minutes never even acknowledging we were there. Finally one of the girls helped us. At first we thought we wanted the pre packed box with 4 cannolis and 2 lobster tails. Then we realized we couldn't pick our cannolis so we told her we wanted to pick. She looked at us and said, that is going to be a lot more expensive." We said yeah we for that. We ate in the bake shop. The lobster tails were pretty good. They were filled with cream. The cannolis were average regular, chocolate, and peanut butter. We did. Or try birthday cake. We did get a cupcake with spiced frosting. The frosting was really good. Overall, I went for the experience. I got that but I would not make the trip back.

Thomas P.

Yelp
I came here roughly 5 years ago. My wife wanted to go here while we were on vacation in New York. So we made a special trip grabbed an Uber and away we went to Carlo's Bakery. From what I can remember the service was the same as it was 5 years ago, polite but in a hurry. The ambiance is quite inviting, it was clean the AC was on keeping the sweets and patrons comfortable in the 90 degree summer heat with a sprinkle of some extra humidity. The food was what I expected, I didn't notice anything different from what I tried 5 years ago to what we got this time besides the price going up like all other places. Overall, if you are in the area there's no reason to not stop by and have a cannoli.

Michael S.

Yelp
Had a Lobster pastry with Oreo and a berry ice tea. Great service, friendly staff, everything is fresh and many options. Conveniently next to the bus station. Love to go back :)

Natty C.

Yelp
Definitely over rated! You are paying for the name. This is an average bakery. I bought two cannolis for $12. It was empty inside and I waited 5 minutes to be helped. The worker just stared at me. Weird! The cannolis were just ok but not worth $12. There are so many other better real Italian bakeries in Hoboken. Save your money!

Michelle T.

Yelp
Ok so my fiancé was in Hoboken and decided to stop at Carlo's Bakery for some sweets .it a very nice place and the servers were friendly. But this place is triple the price of everyone else for a 29 square radius and it's really not that good .I actually felt disrespected by how expensive everything was and the quality was just below average.the cream puffs were 10 bucks for 4 and they were just bigger than a quarter .the cannolis were 5.75 each (overpriced +a dollor ) and the cream tasted life the fridge ..it was the smallest lobster tail I have ever seen and that put the minimum of cream ..I normally do not complain but it was ridiculously over priced and below average. Never again.Picture for reference..

Ezra H.

Yelp
Horrible, the cake was dryer than a Mormons wedding. Lobster tail filling... was extremely too sweet. The chocolate chip cookie was like brick. Tasteless. Service - attitude from cashier. The place was meh, overall there are better bakeries

Nilu M.

Yelp
During my trip to NYC I obviously had to stop by Carlos Bakery! Tbh I remember the store being larger from the TV show but it was still cool to see them make the fresh pastries in the back room. We opted for the classic cannoli which was delicious, super creamy filing and crispy exterior but found it pricey along with everything else on the menu. The local is also in a really cute neighbourhood but parking around here is super challenging and it has alot of one way roads.

Dee U.

Yelp
Meh. Carlos Schmarlos. Nothing extraordinary here. The cupcakes were dried out and nothing to write home about. The cannolis were nothing spectacular. We went for the gram pic and because the cake boss show. Otherwise it's just overpriced and seems like corporate made or packaged? Wouldn't revisit. Nothing special. Sorry Buddy. :-( Nothing personal. Glad we stopped by but don't get the hype. I have had much better at smaller local mom and pop bakeries in Brooklyn and Flatbush.

Natalia S.

Yelp
Me n my bsf both got chocolate covered strawberries and they were so good!! Though, I do think that they were a bit overpriced, I still think that they are worth a try!

Modibree C.

Yelp
place was clean but the treats were not good Eclair & Cannoli was a solid 2/10 The apple pocket was the only edible thing that was decent, especially heated, a decent 7/10. Total for 3 pasteries was about 20$. NOT worth it in my opinion.

Mercy M.

Yelp
Everything was great. Very tasty. We ordered cannolis and lobster tails. The got our order right, quick services, Bonus how you can see where they're working making some baked goods.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Today Friday evening I bought croissants with chocolate. There was no chocolate inside, there was something smeared in places inside. I have never tasted worse. Disappointed.

Mahvish I.

Yelp
This review is for a birthday cake that was purchased. It looked good but my God it was the SALTIEST cake I ever had in my life. Certainly not worth the cost & very much a let down. Felt like a little robbery. Cakes are never supposed to be salty.

Chithra V.

Yelp
Hands down the best bakery in Hoboken. Definitely go there for pastries. I was never satisfied with any bakery after I went to Mike's pastry in Boston but you won't believe, this one is almost the same. It's always crowded just like any other good bakery. Tried their almond eclair and the chocolate cake and both of them tasted great. Must visit bakery!

Jerry D.

Yelp
The classic spot doesn't disappoint, got a few cakes and some cookies to try out. The chocolate fudge cake was moist and good. The rainbow cake was okay. The chocolate chip cookie was pretty good. I warmed it up for 15 seconds and it hit the spot. The same with the sugar cookie. Lots of foot traffic, but good to get a sweet treat once in a while.

Beth N.

Yelp
Of course, you have to stop if you're in Hoboken, especially if you're a fan of the show! I didn't see Buddy, or the family, but the workers there are very polite, helpful, and easy to talk to. I had a piece of pizza is a delicious. The coffee torte was amazing! Everything is fresh and fun experience to be here! The pictures are exactly what it is. It's a small bakery, nothing too fancy, but the food is amazing!

Tom C.

Yelp
We ate a slice of Carlos Cake yesterday, what a complete disappointment. The cake was dry and mostly tasteless. the price was insane. Never again. Way overrated.

Ed B.

Yelp
If you come to this bakery because of the TV I wouldn't. Overall the desserts are okay but most of the items you would want come pre packaged and are old. None of the desserts are fresh and you can definitely taste it. but if you enjoy unfresh food then this is the place for you.

Lauren W.

Yelp
Always a fun visit and all the items I've tasted meet expectations. Rainbow cake is so fun!

Jackie W.

Yelp
I returned since many years back home to see family. delicious pumpkin pie and cheesecake was fabulous Friendly and gracious employees

Copyandpaste0 ..

Yelp
Spent over $100 here, got several of their cakes and other items (crumb cake, lobster tail, cookies, etc) I have a sweet tooth and this place doesn't satisfy the crave. The only redeeming quality is the lobster tail that is larger than most places you find. Cakes are decent but I'd rather go elsewhere, it's good for a party but not for me.

Mari I.

Yelp
Delicious as fast delivery! Have ordered from them numerous times and never disappointed

Carol D.

Yelp
What a disappointment.... Buddy what happened to the Crumb Cake? It is nothing like it was! The format and the recipe has definitely changed for the worse. The last time I had it was a couple of years back, it was made on a sheet pan. The cake was thick and moist with a ton of yummy buttery crumbs on top and the counter employees would cut a slab and box it. I must say that now it is in individual pie style container it is far from the Crumb Cake of past! Thin layer of crumbs and they are bone dry! Did I get the low fat healthy Crumb Cake, lol? Shame on you Buddy V.!

Dawn G.

Yelp
I order pies and other things for NEW YEARS, and it came a week later. I wasn't allowed to get my money back, even though it tasted bad and was late. I was given a 87 dollar vochur. So I gave them another chance with ordering 1 pumpkin pie it was raw and horrable flavor, apple crumb was horrably sweet and dry. The pecan pie was sicking sweet. I have left messages and no one has shown any caring by calling me. Save your money make your own or order around your home. It will taste better a cheaper. Prices they charge are robbery. They all act like childeren. Never ever again. No I know why Buddy lost to Duff.

Jess B.

Yelp
The cannolis were great but their Nutella pastries were divine! The portions are big, we couldn't finish everything we wanted to try but we definitely weren't disappointed. The staff was very attentive and willing to recommend options. No where to sit and eat, but it's more of a grab and go place. Overall, Cake Boss impressed us!

Christina W.

Yelp
Serving up some of the most delicious desserts with quick service. The air filled of sweet smelling pastries that are to die for! I would definitely recommend and visit again!
