The bakery traces back to 1910 when Carlo Guastaffero opened it, and became known for lobster tails, an Americanized version of the Italian sfogiatelle pastry. The business was bought by Bartolo Valastro Sr. in 1964 and, after his death in 1994, matriarch Mary Valastro and her children (including master baker Bartolo Jr. “Buddy” Valastro) expanded the operation." - Eater Staff
