The 7 Best Fritangas In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Like the name implies, the best part of this Sweetwater fritanga are the housemade tortillas—which are thick, two for $1, and too damn good. These warm masa discs turn this very good fritanga into an excellent one. First, take a piece of carne asada and place it on a tortilla. Then, add some vinegary salsa, a little salad for crunch, and fold it into a taco. It’s absolutely delicious. The rest of the fritanga—like the pico de gallo, queso frito, and maduros—is best forked up together and enjoyed between bites of tortilla." - mariana trabanino

Delicious food, outstanding customer service, and an impressive variety of dishes. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
The food at this establishment is exceptional. Everything is freshly prepared, and the prices are very reasonable. The quality of the meat is particularly noteworthy. Open 24 hours a day, the place maintains a consistent buzz of activity. I awarded them five stars for their outstanding service and inviting atmosphere, especially in comparison to similar venues—it’s a recognition they truly deserve.

We are vegetarians and came to this typical Nicaraguan restaurant "Carne Asada Torrilleria Nicas" for lunch. To our surprise, the food was not as tasty as we expected. Nothing is labeled, and nothing is priced. You get 3 choices on your plate. We were not asked what we wanted in the main selection (much larger area of styrofoam box). We also bought a typical drink "Cebada" (pretty ok). Even though, we got white rice with peas, little corns and sweet bannanas (cabbage on a separaye bag), the price was the same as for a plate containing chicken, rice and beans, yuca (cabbage on a separaye bag) - for a non-vegeterian member.. There is Bachata music in the background and a large TV displaying music related show. There are a total of 5 chairs, 3 face the window and 2 the wall. The food looks tasty, and the processing of your order goes fast. This is quite a popular place. There is a lot of assortment, and the owners and / or employees work diligently. - Thank you! However, we can not rate this place 4 or 5 stars... sorry!

Google
This is by far one of the best fritanga in South Florida. Flavor is authentic to Nicaraguan cuisine. I recommend the desmenusada and carne asada. With that said, the restaurant is penny-pinching on the on the chile (salsa). Use to be free, and now they are charging customers. For those who don't know, this is the equivalent of getting fast food and charging you for the ketchup. Prices have also gone up in a short period of time. Still, I regard this as a go-to but truly is losing kudos amongst its most faithful customers. Disappointing.

Google
I will always ride for this place. Best fritanga in miami. Everything is delicious here and the workers are always very nice. Also they are open super late. This place brings back the best memories of when I went to FIU and would pick this up after a long day or for lunch. This place is very special to me.

Google
I visited this place for the first time, when you see a line outside of a restaurant to order food, you know it must be good. This is an authentic Nicaraguan food. We ordered carne asada, gallo pinto, tajadas and fried cheese. Also comes with a side cabbage salad. My husband and I shared a plate. They give you enough for two. I must say everything was tasty and full of flavor. This is a place I will definitely visit again when I’m in Miami. Don’t leave if you see a long line outside it moves pretty quickly.

Google
This place is ALWAYS full. It is because of their authentic Nicaraguan flavors or for the great selection of food.....from Carne Asada to Fried Fish, pork, rice, beans, crunchy Cabbage salad, fried cheese. Food is always fresh and tasty....the girls usually take good care of you. And on top great juices....to accompany the food. So pass by and don't mind the line is flows fast.

Google
The food is incredible, but the customer service is horrible. The woman who works at the payment station is rude and dismissive towards customers. I could eat at this place every day because of the food quality, but the poor service makes me reconsider and look for another option.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for as long as I can remember, I no longer live in the area so I don't go as often but every time I do, food just hits the spot. My go-to is the carne asada, always tasty with the authentic flavor of Nicaraguan carne asada, also got the chicken tacos last time and they were ok but nothing special. Service is hit or miss, most ladies are nice but sometimes they seem overwhelmed by the crowd of hungry patrons waiting in line to order.

Yelp
$18 for a carne asada? Ridiculous smh. Gallo pinto had NO flavor Queso frito, felt like rubber. Never going back

Yelp
Even though the portions keep getting smaller and the price has gone up it's still delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
I was a little skeptical when my wife first took me here, but this is a really good spot. They give really big portions and everything is really good. The prices have drastically gone up over the years. The parking situation can be a little annoying.

Yelp
We buy carne asada (una completa) from there frequently.. never disappointed!! The food is great and the customer service is great as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was phenomenal. You know it's gonna be good food when it's a hole in the wall. The staff was incredibly friendly and it's in a pretty convenient spot allowing people from FIU and locals to get a quick bite on the go!

Yelp
Best fritanga carne asada in MIAMI! The service isnt too bad, theyre quick. Shopping center is a mini nicaragua and the parking isnt shabby. There is barely any seating but the food is so good i didnt even mind it. Get. The. Carne. Asada.

Yelp
Located inside the famous (for Nicaraguans) Plaza Managua, this Fritanga spot is now open 24 hours to satisfy your Fritanga cravings at any time of day. I have been coming to this plaza since I was born and for as long as I can remember this Fritanga has always been popular to the point of lines forming outside and it's no wonder as you can smell the food being made from the outside as you're on the sidewalk. The downside to this place is the parking situation during normal business hours. The plaza is rather small and with multiple very popular spots located here, it can get tricky finding parking. You can park outside the parking lot on the side as well as in the back of the building but it may still take you circling around the plaza a few times. Most of the businesses here are not sit-in so there is a lot of come and go and with a little luck you can find a spot but just have some patience! Unlike parking in other parts of the city, parking outside is not metered so that's a plus!

Yelp
This Fritanga is a go-to for me and my family. They are open 24hrs, and the food is always good. My go to is the gallo pinto, carne asada, and tajada. I also love their taquitos. The service is fast casual and the have a bar for seating, I always take it to go. Is typically very busy and on weekends the line can be out the establishment, but moves quickly.

Yelp
Great food ! One of my favorite spots . The food is amazing everything i've gotten has been great & everytime i go they're always having a wide selection to choose from & everything always tastes fresh 10/10 would recommend !!! Serving sizes are also great for the price Amazing !

Cristofher M.

Yelp
Precio demasiado alto cada dia sube y como que te combran dependiendo si es de dia o de noche o madrugada cambia y no dicen nada ... y para las porciones pequeñas el precio no reflexiona las porciones en 1 ano subieron los precios 3 veces
google avatar

Yelp
This is your local Nicaraguan spot to eat great food at a decent price. With the price of everything gone up this entire plate for $16 but let me tell you it fed me three times. I love that I can multiple meals from one purchase! The gallo pinto was delicious and soft. I purchased the grilled chicken meal. It comes with your choice of side and a slaw. I purchased fried cheese as an extra side. The location is pretty small, it's not a place to sit but a place to order for takeout. I like establishments like these where they focus on the food more than catering to sitting customers. If you're in South Florida, you have to go to one of these cafeteria like places for authentic food. I would recommend!
google avatar

Alexandra R.

Yelp
The gallo pinto was bland but the color of the rice was spot on. The meat was F A N T A S T I C !! Very juicy, and soft. The cheese was to die for. Crunchy exterior and soft interior. The Cacao is good too. Over all for two plates and a rojita and a large Cacao, it came out to 38. It was PACKED. So if you don't like being in tight small spaces I advise you to go somewhere else or just to wait till theres no line. I took off a star because the rice literally had NO FLAVOR! My toddler makes better gallo pinto

Yelp
The last standing good Fritanga close to the Gables. Food is great and they really keep a good assortment of Nica food. The hack is close to place your order to be pickup. Will be ready and service is faster that way.

Yelp
First time coming here and let me tell you this place is awesome... food here is so delicious and they have a variety of different foods to choose from. They serve big portions and you are more than satisfied once your done eating, if your able to finish it all. Service here is quick and easy, you just tell them what you want and they serve it right away since the food is hot and ready to serve... ambiance of the restaurant is pretty busy and they always serving people left and right. Also the restaurant doesn't have much seating so I wouldn't recommend eating here, just take it to go and enjoy it in your car o at home. Overall, this place is great and food here is fresh and delicious. I will be coming back if I'm in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
The meat is super tender & has good flavor! The cheese is that super squeaky cheese!!!! But we've had to try this spot multiple times now because the first couple times the service was really slow and then unfortunately they forgot our queso frito in our to go boxes :( We weren't watching them while they boxed our food so if you don't watch them, double check your order before you leave the parking lot lol. I'm giving them a 4.5 out 5 because they redeemed themselves on our last visit and gave us everything we asked for! They have very very limited amount of seating, expect to make this a to go order just so you know! Similar pricing as other fritangas in the area too.

Yelp
Been to the plaza multiple times to get Nicaraguan goodies but never this fritanga, as the line is always so long...so much that it's sometimes out of the door. Thursday night and was craving some raspado (shaved ice dessert) which is next door and noticed how the fritanga was empty so finally went to try it out. It was so hard to just pick one thing, so picked the basic carne asado with gallo pinto and tajadas verde (skirt steak, mixed rice & Central American beans, and plantains). The steak was so flavorful and no fat on it, as for the gallopinto, it was perfectly mixed! As a Nicaraguan, I have tried several fritangas in search of the best taste and deal, and this has made it to top of my list. Not pictured was the Nicaraguan cake with pink icing and layer of dulce de leche (caramel). I am a big sweets person so also got myself a Coyolito (small dessert/candy with sugar around it - sweet)! This place has all your nica essentials . Right after I left this place (around 8 at night) it picked up against me got crowded. Beware: Parking situation in this plaza is always horrible unless you come at night (been coming to plaza for over 20 years and it's always the same). As for this specific fritanga, come prepared to stand in line for a while. The amazing food is worth it though.
google avatar

Yelp
I promise you, from the many Fritangas located in Sweetwatet, this one will NOT disappoint. I mean... there is always a line . They have an array of items to choose from, and I promise the portions they serve is sufficient for two. The service, it's not the best per say, the ladies always seem rushed and annoyed, but the food will make up for their lacks . Now the parking situation, especially during rush hour, is a pain in the rear! Be patient, you might have to go back round to be able to find a parking spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Looking for Nicaraguan food. This is is the spot. They have then best carne asada and a queso frito. That is hard to find in one location. The other great thing is open 24 hours. It's great and fast service.
google avatar

Yelp
This is what i call true Nica soul food! Im not from Nicaragua but as a Miamian i do love a good Fritanga often. Well prepared food, savory, hearty, huge portions, people start to line up by 11am for lunch so be there early. They serve a huge amount of plates, breakfast items, some bake goods, appetizers, desserts, juice, you name it they have it. Im a a true fan of their beef soup, but ill tell you if you get there past 12pm you wont get a chance of it. Great prices, clean place, not fancy just good simple food, don't miss it.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Nicaraguan cuisine with homemade flavors and quality. Gallo Pinto and queso frito are the best in town.

Yamileth S.

Yelp
Service is horrible I ask for a food order and politely ask the girl to separate the meat (mondongo) from the rice very rude she respond $3 additional to put it in a container seriously I walked away
google avatar

Mario G.

Yelp
I been coming to this Fritaga since it was home in the wall. Now it's gotten to a place where prices are high but quality poor. I ordered hen soup today and I was given small leg and wing. That's protein I was given, I paid for broth and vegetables basically. Going to go next door try their competitor, because this place ripping people off.
google avatar

Devaneé T.

Yelp
Nicaraguan food is so good! Quick service. Cafeteria vibes. Friendly staff. If you're ever in the area definitely stop by!
google avatar

Mel R.

Yelp
Carne Asada is always on my list of stops whenever I'm in Miami. This hole in the wall is legit. They serve fantastic Nicaraguan food, and a darn good cafe con leche, even though they make it lukewarm at times, easy fix, just send it back. Show up on time for their lunch hour. The food can and will run out. It's not an ideal sit down spot, you'll want to grab and go and enjoy. Easy five stars!

David G.

Yelp
the pork was burned outside and raw inside horrible el. cerdo estaba quemado por fuera y crudo por dentro

Yelp
I'm shocked that I never came back and wrote a review for this establishment. Ever since I found this place and stopped in after a cruise I have been raving about Nicaraguanese food! I can't tell you what everything is called because I'm more familiar with Caribbean Latin foods (Domincan, Cuban, Puerto Rican, etc) however Nica food is something that blew my mind. To date, this is my favorite Latin American food (sorry HubbyStanks). If you don't try anything else try the Carne Asade with that side of cabbage! However EVERYTHING was good. They put a flavor in their food that is so different and addictive! We just got a new Nicaraguan spot in Tampa and I hope it lives up to this spot. Note that this is one of that fabulous hole in the wall joints that you walk in and let them know what you want based on what you see. This is why I don't know the names of the dishes. You just get what looks amazing...and it really is amazing, y'all! If you're ever in the Miami area (close to Dolphin Mall) you need to get to flagler and try this spot!
google avatar

Jorge P.

Yelp
The food at this place is really good and that is why I continue been a costumer, but The costumer service is awful. They lady's that work there most of the time are always upset and treat the costumer like we are asking the food for free and have no costumer services skills at all. Bottom line if you are looking for good Nicaragua food this is the place but keep in mind you are going to be treat poorly is a shame because of that this place is not a 5 start's restaurant
google avatar

Jorge A.

Yelp
The best Nica fritanga thus yet. The food is spectacular as is the service. Jimmy's certified once again. So tasty definitely going back.
google avatar

Aismeri M.

Yelp
La carne asada estaba súper buena y suave y el sabor increíble. Una de las mejores comidas nica en el area. Fue mi primera vez y no me decepcionó para nada. Ordenaría en el futuro de nuevo. Love the food. The meat was very tender and the fallo pinto was fresh. Would for sure order again from them. The delivery was fast as well.

Priscila G.

Yelp
This is by far one of the best fritangas in Miami. The food, the variety and the portions are great and they open 24 hours!

Yelp
I've been to quite a few fritangas & Carne asada tortilleria nicas is hands down the Best Nicaraguan fritanga in the area. The food is always hot, fresh, & packed with flavor; the staff is very friendly too. Great value too if you want to eat a lot of food & not spend too much, you really get a bang for your buck here, you get sooooo much food. this is my go to when craving Nicaraguan food on the go, specifically carne asada. I never get tired of eating it. They do such a great job & the food is amazing. It was so good I had to write a review
google avatar

Maria Gabriela H.

Yelp
This is THE fritanga in Sweetwater. Usually it's this or el Yambo, but Yambo has gone down in quality. This place NEVER disappoints. It's always packed and now they're open 24 hours. Yes it's pricey but you get what you pay for. The meat is juicy, the gallo pinto is fresh, as is the cheese. It's a little spot with not a lot going on aesthetically but what's not why you come here. You come here to get GREAT FRITANGA.
google avatar

Maria Y.

Yelp
I only ever order food from here on DoorDash, I've never need to the location. But what I can say is that the food is sooooo good! Flavourful for sure

Rosario S.

Yelp
He venido a este lugar ir algún tiempo. Lo único bueno es la carne asada. Lo demás es genético. Nunca compré. La cuajada estaba súper salada. Día 2. La cuajada me hizo daño. 20 minutos de haberla comido.
google avatar

Tania G.

Yelp
The best Nica food this side of the Mississippi. 9 out of 10 times there's a line but believe me, it's worth the wait.
google avatar

Yelp
BEAT FRITANGA EVER LET ME TELL YOU. First things first, this review is coming from a family of 100% nica. Both of my parents are from Nicaragua and Nicas love eating nica food (obviously). I have been to countless of fritangas all over miami and no fritanga will beat this one. The food is always 10/10 and the amount they serve you is crazy. I buy a regular order for $9 and I have dinner AND lunch to take for work. I normally get the carne asada with Gallo pinto (my favorite meal ever) but sometimes I go in and get white rice, beans, salpicón, and no place has ever made the salpicón so similar to my mothers. The food here just taste natural and from home. Now I'm ngl, this is a very small location so inside (before covid) can feel very overwhelming and some might say the customer service isn't the best. But to be completely honest when you have 10 Hispanic Families inside this location and you are also serving people and passing over their food, it can get pretty hectic, but throughout covid they have done such a great job with mask and controlling the amount of people inside. And they are so quick and they always make sure you have everything before leaving double checking your order. Ive been coming to this fritanga for years and every time I try a different fritanga I always compare it to this one.
google avatar

Yelp
Tucked away in the shopping center named Centro Comercial Managua and hiding under a banner that reads Carne Asada Tortilleria Nica, you will find possibly the best fritanga in Miami. Actually, the name fritanga is a disservice to this establishment. This is more like a supermarket of Nicaraguan food, very similar to the hot food counters at Whole Foods or The Fresh Market but less glamorous and with the added benefit of desserts, pastries, breads, tortillas, cheeses, natural juices, drinks and long distance calling cards to Central America. The food at Carne Asada is not only delicious, but it is very plentiful and fits the strictest budget. All the servings are very tasty, starting with the gallo pinto which is cooked to perfection and outstanding. Every order comes with coleslaw salad and a side of plantains, plantain chips or tostones. Also, you could add a fried cheese (queso frito) to your order making it a gigantic meal that two people could easily share. You will be surprised to find that this is more than a traditional fritanga. Along with the more popular dishes, like carne asada, carne deshilachada, puerco asado and nacatamales, you will find fried fish, fish in a stew, chicken stew, tongue stew, escabeche like foods and soups, along with other traditional Nicaraguan dishes that I have yet to try. This place has variety. Ordering goes at a slow pace most of the time since there is always a long line of customers waiting to be served. Also, if you are like Reese Whitherspoon and you think that your American citizenship will pull some strings for you, well, this is a predominantly Spanish speaking establishment, so ordering in English could turn into a nightmare really quick, although, you may feel at ease thinking that you are at a Nicaraguan hub. If you can't get over the language barrier, good luck getting your lawn mowed. Besides language, parking could be a big problem also if you want to use the parking lot. I recommend parking on the street, you will have no problem getting off from your car and enjoying the delicious food. If you are able to manage these two obstacles, you will be rewarded. Trust me on this one.

Yelp
Every year that we are visiting Miami we stop by this place! Food is VERY, VERY DELICIOUS!!. Unfortunately, the main issue is their staffing members are very RUDE specially a lady( don't know her name, but as a reference she use a lot of makeup). Well, will continue to visit this place. But, definitely will speak up about her with management. As a business owner I know that customers are the top priority!!!!

Yelp
Carne Asada Tortilleria Nicas has really good food at a really good value. I was impressed with the taste and flavor of everything. I enjoyed everything that I tried from here and had a great experience here.

Giselle L.

Yelp
The best steak and rice I've ever had! So worth it and would 100% come back. Tres leches was great too
google avatar

Sophia L.

Yelp
This is the beat Nicaraguan food in Miami!! Carne asada is amazing along with gallopinto! Can't wait to come back, large portions for one person and very affordable!

Niurka D.

Yelp
No stars if it allowed me to post without them. Ordered carne asada and they also sent me ropa vieja with white rice. After just a few bites of the ropa vieja my daughter got sick. Following with my grandson, husband and myself all ended up with food poisoning. Needless to say I would never order from this place again. They should make sure not to sell bad meat.
google avatar

Yelp
Wish I could give 0 stars. The attention is literally HORRIBLE. I don't know what other way to phrase it, if I'm being honest. I literally witnessed the woman who was attending me, re-heat the chicken I asked her for, in front of me. Who does that? Apart from that, I received nothing but attitude the entire time. The place is always full and the attention is never any good. This is definitely the last time I come again. When it came time to paying, I gave the lady who was charging me a $20 bill and told her to put the rest on the card (there minimum for a card is $8, something I've never heard of) she gives my card to another cashier, and the cashier charges the entire amount on my card. Totally ignored my $20. On top of that she said, she didn't hear her say "$20 cash and the rest on card" she said she couldn't do anything about it. She couldn't give me a breakdown of what I ordered. $30 for 2 meals that had to be re-heated and for bad attention. I'm good, they definitely don't deserve the money I payed nor my time. Take the time and visit the "fritanga la chavala" right next to them, small little place, they'll give you better service then these conceded employees at "carne asada tortilleria"

Yelp
When someone goes out on a food run and it entails Nica Food I usually have them go here for it. It might seem like every fritanga in the Sweetwater area is the same but this one manages to stand out among them all with their delicious food alone. First, the carne asada (grilled skirt steak) tastes amazing. It's juicy and full of flavor distinctive from the other fritangas. Maybe its an added ingredient, maybe they cook it differently, maybe they use better meat, I have no idea but it's definitely better. Same thing goes for their chancho asado (grilled pork). Never a dry piece of meat and the fat ratio on it makes it tasty. One favorite Nica dish is the enchilada. The way it's prepared here is phenomenal. It tastes like they made it just a few minutes ago. It's nice and plump and full of rice and ground beef. More importantly it has a nice little pinch of chile in the back. Finally, their chilito is by far the best one around. It tastes freshly made. Its different because the ingredients are coarsely chopped and it also has lemon juice and some cilantro. Portions are satisfying here. It's as if they want to get rid of their food as soon as possible. You definitely get your money's worth.

Yelp
I am the duchess of this place and I wish I could give them 5 stars but the food has been mostly disappointing. The carne asada itself is delicious. The gallo pinto (rice and beans mixed together) was cold, sweet plantains were hard and the fish was really salty. The baho was good and the cacao is always delicious. Bunuelos are really good but they give little syrup. Also, when you pay with credit you can't add a tip, you most tell them in advance and they will add it to the total. The parking is limited and sometimes gets packed. Service is fast so fast that I haven't gotten to know any of the servers. Today it was empty and I decided to ask the girl which part if Nicaragua she was from and she said that she was from Honduras conversation ended since I don't know much about Honduras. Definitely will be back. Excellent arroz aguado con cerdo (Rice with pork Nicaraguan style. 5

Yelp
Where do I start with this place ! First of is Nicaraguan food served Traditional Fritanga style. If you visit Nicaragua all around the country you would find street food stands where people serves all kind of Nicaraguan cuisine. Having said that here in Miami there's not many places that actually meet both price and food quality! Some places being overly priced and some cheap but with bland food. However, this is the nirvana of fritangas! not only this place serves really great Nicaraguan food they do so at a great price! I'm your basic Nicaraguan guy (I've been to a lot of Nicaraguan places in Miami I know what I'm talking about ) so I come here often to get Carne Asada, Gallo pinto (Rice/Beans mixed) and Queso frito (Fried cheese) and of course Tortillas like OG tortillas not whatever they sell at supermarkets and claim to be tortillas This place has it all, any Nica craving that you may have from Repochetas to Tacos, Atol, Rojita, Picos A N Y T H I N G! If you are reading this and wondering what all those Spanish words mean get a Nicaraguan friend to translate them for you and also to help you order your food once you arrive, because no english speakers works here but give it a try and while at you at it Learn some Spanish this is little Nicaragua (Sweetwater) after all
