This is a great spot to meet up for awesome food let alone drinks. The establishment has a simple selection of food from tortas to tacos. Pork selection is another choice of what you'd like to dress your torta or taco with or just get it from 1-9 selection,ALL, which you will not be disappointed but expect a bigger taco or torta of your choice. Now there horchatas are far greater than what you have ever had. Creamer and blended fresh if you go pink to their regular flavor which too is ahhhh so good or pepino. For me, a meal isn't complete without an adult beverage and their Palomas are balanced and the difference in tequila choices make it far better. An aluminum cup souvenir served cold tops any meal off and are too notch, IMO. Beer selection is also great.Give this spot a try as you will not be disappointed. Parking across the street is best if you can't park near restaurant due to it be tight. Atmosphere is lively nd well lit. From regular style searing to high chair seating gives the best of either worlds. Get their early s this place gets packed. Not big but you can also place your order to go and wait and drink Paloma or shot of your choice.

I almost don’t want to post this hidden gem! I have never had a better carnita taco in my life. I live in Austin, but when work brings me to San Antonio I make sure to never leave without stopping by and always take home leftovers. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu

We are from Chicago and Los Angeles eating here was a great place. Probably not too many places like this in San Antonio but this was seriously eight or nine in Chicago. We have great food we have great Carnitas this place stands up to its level.

First time at Carnitas Don Raul and we were seriously impressed! We visited around 11AM before the lunch rush and had the place to ourselves for a bit, which gave us time to check out the menu and enjoy the calm vibe. This spot specializes in carnitas and offers tacos, tortas, quesadillas, gringas, and appetizers. There's even a cool diagram on the back of the menu showing all the different pork cuts you can order—like shoulder, belly, ribs, skin, and more. We ordered the chilaquiles with carnitas and chorizo as a starter, and they were delicious—topped with guajillo salsa, sour cream, queso fresco, onion, and cilantro. We also had a small guacamole with chips, which was super fresh and flavorful. The highlight was the one pound of carnitas (pork butt cut). The meat was fresh, tender, and paired perfectly with the salsa bar and all the garnishes—diced onions, pickled red onions, jalapeños, lime, and cilantro. You get 8 warm tortillas with it, which is great for building your own tacos just the way you like them. Service was fast and friendly. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic carnitas in downtown San Antonio!

We loved Carnitas don Raul when they were a taco truck on Broadway, so we are super stoked to find they have a brick and mortar now. The service is fast and professional, still a great menu and the food and drinks are amazing!!!

The flautas were the bomb 💣 Now the Quesadillas Moreliana con today las carnitas so so delicious 😋 Also the Agau Cucumber with Limon is very tasty. Everything in general was very delicious. The atmosphere Amazing. 👌 🙌👍👌🥰🫶

We Got 4 tacos and they were delicious! 😍 They serve you a really generous portion of carnitas for one taco, and the cashier was really attentive and friendly by offering us different ways to get our tacos. We also tried their micheladas and they are also really good ! Definitely will be coming back when we visit San Antonio again ☺️🌮 best carnitas i have ever tried!

5 Stars Carnitas Don Raul does NOT miss! The pork is insanely juicy and full of rich flavor. The quesadillas are nothing like what you'd expect--in the best way possible. The salsas? Absolutely bursting with flavor, adding the perfect kick. And don't even get me started on the tacos and the good ass torta--straight-up delicious! If you love authentic carnitas, this spot is a must-visit. And let's not forget about the Agua Fresca. THE BEST IN TOWN.

If you're in the mood for some good Mexican food, specifically quesadillas, tacos, or tortas, this is the place. Specializing in pork, this place does it well. I got the quesidilla moreliana with a mix of pork cuts. It came with also quac, and onions, cilantro and salsa that you can add. Everything was delicious. A little bit messy and difficult to eat, but that's bound to happen with a dish like this. The only critique I have would be the pork being a bit salty for my liking. Otherwise everything was great. This place is an order at the counter and take a sit wherever you like type of place. There's a good amount of seating. Parking is a bit limited however.

We follow this restaurant on Instagram and saw that they were offering flautas. We had eaten here before and loved all their carnitas. We thought that they closed at 8:00 but they close at 7:00. We got there at 6:40 and thought they were not going to let us in but they welcomed us in and let us order. We ordered the carnitas flautas and guacamole and totopos (chips). It's the best guacamole I've ever tasted and the chips were done perfectly. While we waited for our flautas the music was good and the ambiance was simple and clean. The flautas were so delicious, perfectly crispy and full of flavor. We were so impressed with the food and can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

So bomb! I brought my mom to lunch and I'm so glad I did. We got 2 of the pepino drinks, very refreshing and we shared an order of the flautas and the quesadilla Moreliana it was all so amazing, the mixed meats in the quesadilla was out of this world! I loved their salsa bar, those onions and jalapeños were on point. I will definitely be returning.

These tacos were amazing. Honestly, I think these are the best carnitas in San Antonio. The flavor and the way they're cooked -- so good. They give you all the condiments in a self-serving station on the side, which is perfect if you like to load them up. Price-wise, it's definitely worth it, especially if you order by the pound. Also, the strawberry horchata? So good, definitely try it. Only downside is that if it's packed, it can get a little warm inside. But other than that, 10/10 carnitas spot.

If seen this place as a food truck and saw it on Taco Chronicles(Netflix) but never tried it. Finally made it to the brick n mortar and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent. The hostess made recommendations and helped us choose our food. We ordered a pound of pork our choice. It was amazing!!!! So tender and delicious. The tortillas were nice and hot and the salsas and condiments were so good. The staff was so nice and accommodating and the place was quaint and chill. 5 STARS

OMG!!! We have been coming to carnitas Don Raul since they were in their food truck!! Their carnitas are amazing!! Their new location allows you to view some of the magic that goes on - as they cut your selection in an open kitchen and you can view all the splendorous pork in all its glory!! They welcome you and give you your order with a friendly hello and an enjoy have a good day. It's been a couple of days since we visited and they still on my mind - a definitely must if you need a carnita fix!! Ps their refried beans !!! Are actually REFRIED just like home!!! Yum!!!

I had the quesadilla moreliana and it was my first time having it and it was sooo good! I really enjoyed it with their red salsa. They only serve pork but I like pork so it wasn't a big deal. I purchased horchata and yum! Service was great and fast. The place was nice and clean! I will definitely go back! Highly recommend!

First experience here. I went around 3pm and there weren't too many people inside. I ordered a cucumber lime agua Fresca which was so fresh and delicious. You can tell it's made in house with natural ingredients. Also got the quesadilla moreliana which is a crispy quesadilla with carnitas. The meat was so juice and flavorful which complimented the crispy outer shell so nicely. I can't wait to go back. I think I found my favorite lunch spot.

New location means time for a new review! Yes, you heard that right! Carnitas Don Raul has a new location and you have to check it out. This amazing business recently made the move from a food truck to a brick and mortar, and I couldn't be happier for them. Carnitas Don Raul has been serving the most delicious carnitas in the city for the last 5 years. Their new location is just across from the San Antonio Museum of Art with plenty of parking around the area. They are still serving their delicious carnita classic, with some new additions like the gringas (quesadillas with cheese and carnitas). They now have a license to sell alcohol, and serve a wide range of beer, tequila and mezcal. In case you've never been here before I highly recommend you to watch their episode on Netflix's docu-series The Taco Chronicles, in which Carnitas Don Raul was highlighted. After watching it you will have a higher appreciation of their craft and what they are serving, My go-to order is always de taco a la moreliana using maciza. I also recommend their classic quesadilla with carnitas. I promise you've never had anything like that at any other restaurant before! If you haven't already, give this amazing business a chance and check them out.

I absolutely love Carnita's Don Raul!! I've been supporting them since they were in the food truck! I'm thrilled they have a brick and mortar location with plenty of seating and lovely music! I always get the quesadilla Moreliano because I'm addicted to it! But today I opted for the chilaquiles and my goodness, they did not disappoint either! The service and food are always perfection! Please treat yourself and head their way ASAP!

This place is across the street from the San Antonio Museum of Art. After visiting the museum, I was looking for a place to have a quick bite before I got back on the Hop on Hop Off trolley. Since I am in Texas, I wouldn't have Italian food, which I could have any time in NJ. I don't usually eat pork, and I am very sensitive to the scent/flavor of meat. This place only has pork, as you can see in its name. I had a taco Moreliana with Brazuelo(shoulder) meat. It was good. The meat was prepared right--no strange flavor, lean and soft. If you ever visit the SAMA, stop by and have a bite! Now I feel bad that I didn't take a picture.

Wonderful service, fresh and delicious food. My family is from Michoacán and it takes me back! The salsa and fixing bar is chilled and replenished frequently. The carne is flavored deliciously and everything was hot and fresh. The place was very clean and had ample seating. Can't wait to bring my family when they are in town.

There's a reason this place has a long line at almost all hours -- and you want to wait in it, promise. Portion sizes are insane (yes, one taco is enough for a meal!), flavor is off the charts, and service is spectacular.

I've been visiting San Antonio for three days and this is the best meal I've had by far had a fraction of the cost. I can't recommend this place enough.

When i first took a bite of a taco de carnitas from Carnitas Don Raul, i was instantly transported back to Querétaro, Mexico in the summer of 95'. I thought of Hortencia and her lovely flower print summer dress the one she would scold me all summer long for ruining. The salsa from Carnitas Don Raul held a plethora of flavors that went along with each savory bite. And to top it all off, a Mexican Coke done right. In other words...this place is legit.

Holy crap this place is insane. I am a huge carnitas lover and I have only been to one other place here in sa that has good carnitas, but this has got to be my new favorite. Plus, lucky for me this spot is just down the road from my apartment. If you're ever in the downtown/pearl area you have to check this spot out. I ordered the torta moreliana w carnitas and the crispy quesadilla moreliana w carnitas as well. One thing I liked about this place is that they asked me if I would prefer lean meat or not which I appreciated because I do prefer my carnitas on the leaner side. Mann, let me tell you both of those food items were incredible. There were so many different flavors that explode in your mouth when you take that first bite of the torta and the meat was seasoned perfectly, and had the perfect amount of flavor not too salty. I tried both salsas red and green and I but i almost always prefer green. Both salsas were good and had a nice kick but were not overly spicy. Service was great I was in and out fairly quickly. I just wish there was a bit more parking however it was not an issue I found a spot on the street.

Closer to a 3.5 than a 4. Food is good, surtido is our favorite. Cons are parking, had to pay $7 to park in front of their business and almost broke a tooth from a bone they left in their meat.

The torta was amazing and the bread was fresh too. Plenty of meat in the flautas and loved the fresh toppings. Tasty and fresh chips with a tangy green salsa. Red salsa had a kick. Great drinks and happy hour from 3-6pm.

Is there an option for 10 stars?! Establishment is pristine, service was friendly and efficient. Gentleman taking our order took the time to review the options and explain the difference between them. Great spot for lunch date, breakfast or grabbing something for a quick amazing dinner at home. They had delicious drink options both with and without the poison. Food. I'll be completely honest and tell you carnitas is not my first choice...BUT I had never had anything close to this. It was incredible. Simple and delicious without being over dressed or over seasoned. RUN DON'T walk to this place!

Carnitas Don Raul was my Yelp friend Ruben C's #1 food recommendation for San Antonio. Go, he said. It'll be life changing, he said. We took his advice. So should you. Their carnitas was absolutely out-of-this-world delicious. We bought 2 pounds for the drive home. Our order included fresh limes, tortillas, pickled jalapeños and two kinds of salsas. Yummmmmmmm. Leftovers reheated well -- we should have doubled our order! Next time we're in SA, we'll head straight for this place.

Delicious carnitas, with different options of sauces and accompaniments for your dishes. The service and kindness of the owner make you feel welcome. The atmosphere is simple, I think needs a little decoration, but it's clean.

This is my second visit to this place! Their carnitas are absolutely delicious on our first visit. We tried the flautas this time around and they were to die for! They were nice and crispy!!! The employees are very friendly and helpful! The place is always bustling but it's nice and clean!

Food truck located near other small businesses with outdoor picnic tables where you can enjoy your meal on a nice day. I was a little confused as you order your food through what looks like another business next to the food truck and not the food truck itself. The young lady at the counter was very helpful with giving recommendations on what I might enjoy. I settled on the Quesadilla Moreliana with the Brazuelo meat and it did not disappoint. Great flavor from the grilled cheese and it can be a little messy but your mouth will be happy. Careful with the green sauce. It's got a spicy kick to it

this place is DELICIOUS if you want some serious mexican tacos. their carnitas are amazing, their chips and guac as well. it's just a classic mexican taco place, and the staff is really friendly and they'll walk you through all the carnitas options if you're not an expert on the different cuts (like me). the place is a vibe, it's very street taco-esque. I have gone a couple of times already and i'll be going back for sure !

The spot always hits! From the flautas to the tacos to the quesadillas! Literally so gooood! They were out of the pepino limón drink which is my favorite so instead I got the pink horchata and it was delicious! Service is always great! Been coming to them since they had the food truck near the restaurant! So happy they were able to open up a bigger apot!

Just do it!!! I was in the area and remembered that Netflix had featured Carnitas Don Raul so I decided to stop by and try this place out for myself. I ordered up a Carnitas Quesadilla and all I have to say is WOW!! This quesadilla was the perfect balance of carnitas, cheese, and avocado! Typing this out is making me drool!! I paired it up with a agua fresca from La Bendita which is conveniently located next door. This is the type of pairing that was made to last y'all. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was lively in the outdoor patio area. 10 out of 10!

Excellent pork carnitas as can order just about every part of the pig. Ordered half pound of pork shoulder which comes with tortillas and made tacos. Highly recommend if you are craving carnitas and a cold cerveza.

Best carnitas in Texas!! If you know anything about the origin of carnitas you will appreciate this place. Direct from Michoacán and brought the flavor with them. Huge portions will get you full but it is worth it to order more to take home.

My wife is from Morelia, Michoacán and every time we are in Morelia we eat carnitas from Don Raul at least once during the visit. The carnitas are always on point with very good flavor. I've been wanting to try the carnitas from Don Raul San Antonio, TX for a long time. This past week I finally had a chance and wasn't disappointed. We ordered 3 lbs of carnitas to bring back to Austin and enjoyed tacos de carnitas. Everything was good.... the salsas, onion, cilantro, Limon. The service was also very good. While there we had a taco of frijoles con queso and chorizo con papas. Both were delicious! I highly recommend this place for some authentic food from Michoacan, Mexico. Arriba Michoacan!

Located in a small food truck park, this place is a little bit further out from the city centre. We arrived close to closing time, which is 4pm on Saturday, but still managed to luckily put our order in at 340pm. Since this was a little snack for us after our actual lunch , we only ordered one taco which was the mix of lean and fatty meats. This was definitely on the more expensive side for tacos compared to everything else I've tried here so far. I'm assuming all the hype from it being on Netflix has driven the price up as it was ~$6 for one carnitas taco. A generous amount of the meat was filled in the soft taco shell. Packed full of flavour with each bite, you can adjust it with two available sauces that you pick up on the side of the van. You're given a small container of onions and lime to add to your liking. -1 star for pricing

The food here was amazing! Definitely a place I want to take people to show off Texas. Place was really clean and there was good parking. Staff was super friendly and chill :)

Ambiance: It's outdoors only so it's HOT. But you order at one of the places next to the actual food truck in the food truck park that also sells snacks and drinks which was well needed. The pink horchata was exactly what I needed on a hot TX day. The rest is outdoor seating with some shade. Service: Efficient and personable. Food took a bit, but they gave a buzzer so you can wait in your car for the A/C. Food: Got the torta moreliana which was SO DELICIOUS. Bread was nicely buttered and toasted, guacamole was fresh and tasty, and the carnitas was out of this world. I totally get the hype. It was pretty hefty so I was actually able to share with my husband and we were both pretty satisifed. Overall, I get the hype. Would definitely come back and have it again.

The restaurant is located in a nice little food truck park where there's picnic table seating with sun covers and fans. The kitchen itself is located in the food truck and you can head into the little upscale shed next door to place an order and get agua frescas, desserts, and more. The food came out quick and hot, and the portions were big. I would recommend trying the carnitas, and then getting another meat of choice and combining the two for a nice combo.

I am super fan of Carnitas, so I am very picky about them. And this place was amazing!!! My husband likes maciza and I love cueritos. So we both have two tacos, there were delicious . And the amount was perfect. The green and red salsa were perfect too. And the service was pretty good! They also served mezcal and that was a plus I didn't expect. So it was great !

I was in town for just the nite and looked up Tacos near me....walked from downtown to this spot! Absolutely amazing! Tons of meat in the tacos and so fresh!

These are FIRE.... I went to the taco fest this past weekend and I was disappointed with A LOT of the food stands. However, we stuck through it and tried as many stands until we had to tap out. Of ALL the spots this one was def my FAVORITE. I only got one taco since I was sampling everything else. BUT, I have added this to my list to visit and I need to try everything take some better pictures and update this review. So please stay tuned for a more thorough review but in the mean time... go here and have your tastebuds explode! Make sure to leave an amazing review so this place stays open for all to enjoy. Oh the taco I tried mixed all three meats they had available, they stuffed the taco so much we got another tortilla and made two tacos out of one! Greta deal!

Some of the best food I've had in San Antonio . These carnitas are amazing . I don't even bother ordering carnitas anywhere else because I've done been spoiled by Don Raul . These carnitas are flavorful , tender and delicious. I always get the carnitas quesadilla with pork belly and shoulder . Spritz the meat with a little lemon /lime juice . Then, add a little of their delicious green or red salsa and you got yourself a little piece of Heaven . I always get an order of their homemade guacamole cause it's the perfect accompaniment. Carnitas Don Raul is a food truck inside of a food truck park . They've got restrooms available, an outdoor hand washing station , covered seating and parking . You can park on the street or there is a parking lot across from the food truck park . There's also a few parking spaces in the back of the food truck park . Carnitas Don Raul is an absolute must if you are in San Antonio! They've been featured on Netflix and they most definitely live up to the hype .

Perhaps the finest taco I've had. I had the pork belly and will be back to try the seven other cuts of carnitas. They're bigger tacos than you'll find elsewhere in town, and a few dollars more expensive. It's a nice restaurant though. Near The Pearl. Clean with a friendly staff. The green salsa is fresh and has heat. The red salsa is a masterpiece; no heat yet so much flavor. This is not a food truck anymore, it's a brick and mortar just south of the Pearl.

Okay I'm not going to lie when I saw the total price I was like omg!! But then when we ate the food we were like omg!!! lol the food was so good!! We all loved it so much if we're ever back in the area we will go again!
