The 16 Best Hangover Meals In LA

"When you’re craving something greasy, crispy, and crunchy all at the same time, head to Carnitas El Momo to witness the “Aporkalypse”. This rich mixture of chopped pork shoulder, belly, and burnt ends on tortillas will tick all these boxes and soak up whatever toxins are currently ruining your life. Their tacos and tortas are so rich and juicy that they don’t need much seasoning or salsa, but they do call for El Momo’s “todo verde” agua fresca with lemon, mint, and cucumber. Consider this one-two punch a well-balanced cure. " - kat hong, brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder

Find Mulita Perfection at These 9 Los Angeles Spots

"Carnitas El Momo’s mulitas delight when arriving on a plate — just look at the layered spectacle of corn tortillas with a crispy layer of cheese from the griddle. This is a top-level mulita, with an added option for it to be covered in a Jalisco-style ahogada sauce." - Mona Holmes

Carnitas El Momo - Monterey Park Review - Monterey Park - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Terrific news for anyone who craves fried pork like we do: After years of operating from a taco truck, Carnitas El Momo—home to our favorite carnitas in LA—just opened a casual counter-service restaurant in Monterey Park (look for the freshly painted pig murals on the side of the building). They’ve added some items to the menu, including a torta ahogada drowned in spicy chile sauce, mulitas and quesadillas with crispy cheese skirts, and a weekends-only goat birria. But even with all that newness, you should still focus on the classic Michoacan-style carnitas tacos, which are so obscenely rich they need little embellishment beyond a dab of salsa verde and some pickled jalapenos. Pick your cut (shoulder, belly, skin, burnt ends, or mixed “Aporkalypse” style) and watch them pile chopped bits of fat-simmered pork onto warm tortillas, then try not to drip any of those precious pig juices on your shirt. Make sure you try the fresh-fruit agua frescas, too. The “todo verde”—a refreshing lime-mint-cucumber blend—is a bonafide thirst quencher." - Garrett Snyder

Google
Best carnitas in town! Simple interior with a few tables. A small side patio with additional seating. The carnitas are so juicy. The tacos come with plenty of meat. They also have some trucks that you can look up on IG for their location. Service was good. Small parking lot in front or there's street parking.

Google
THE best pork tacos of my LIFE! (and I'm over 50 & I've lived in SoCal for 20+ years) The staff is smiling and helpful. The space is small & simple, like the menu which is a great example of "less is more". The food however is HUGE! In portion size & in experience. The meat is tender, juicy, unctuous & delicious sticky perfection! (iykyk) I highly suggest the Aporkalypse! If not that then a 50/50 mix of the pork butt & burnt ends!!!! The combination is other worldly. Thank you Carnitas El Momo! I wholeheartedly confess, I am now ruined for all other roasted pork. #momo

Google
Carnitas are super juicy and fresh 😋 the tacos are packed with huge portion of meat. The flavor is mid though. But glad they have a sit down spot with some parking in a strip mall. Very clean and organized 👌 Bathroom is outside so you need a key to open So if you washed your hands you have to carry the not so clean back.

Google
It was good but very very veryyyyyy oily. Extremely saturated but besides that it was good. Got the burnt end tacos. When we went on a Saturday for lunch it wasn’t that busy but the counter was a mess full of salsa spilled everywhere and tables not bussed and dirty. Maybe the original place is better than the actual restaurant. I’d like to try again.

Google
Amazing Taco! However, we had to wait for the tortillas to arrive, which made us wait longer than usual. The taco is overall delicious and enjoyable!!! Will come here again next time!

We stopped by Carnitas El Momo around 11:30am for an early lunch, and let me tell you — we were full until dinner! Portions are super generous and everything we ate was absolutely delicious. The service was polite and helpful, though perhaps a bit more reserved or shy compared to other places we visited (especially considering we’re Spanish speakers too). As European tourists, we were excited to chat and connect a bit more — but that’s just a tiny detail in an otherwise great experience. We also learned new terms like “cuerito” (thanks for the vocab lesson!) and ended up going with the mixed carnitas platter on the staff’s recommendation — totally worth it. Next time we’re in LA, this will definitely be one of our first stops again! ☺️🌮

Google
This is the only place you need when you want absolutely incredible tacos. The place is small and inviting. The service is great and the staff is friendly. The food is outrageously outstanding! The tacos are huge. The meats are all tender, savory, and heavenly unctuous. I highly recommend the burnt ends (migajas) carnitas bowl.

Google
This is how Carnitas are cooked. Perfectly tender and juicy. I didn't know about this new place. I have been to one in front of their house. Quality and Quantity is still amazing. I love how they keep the Quality. If you like Carnitas, this is place. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Definitely I will be back these carnitas are extremely delicious. The cueritos OMG! Highly recommended.

Yelp
Service is fast and portions are big. They have Halloween/Day of the Dead décor up and I'm loving it. Low rating due to meat being extremely salty, I love my food salty but its quite salty for my preference. They have pickled jalapeños and carrots at the pick up counter, it's self serve. Pork Butt (Maciza) Taco- pretty dry, not tender. This cut wasn't overly salty compared to the other ones I tried. Tortilla was a little dry. Belly (Buche) Taco- meat was tender but a little salty. They have them cut into strips rather than in to small cubes that I'm use to. Burnt Ends (Migjas) Tacos- VERY VERY SALTY. Melt in your mouth tender but way too salty to enjoy. Belly (Buche) Burrito- was huge but not wrapped well. Fell right apart. There was more meat than other topping which isn't something to complain about. Mulitas with Burnt Ends- VERY SALTY as well. A little greasy. Big enough to share with someone else.

Yelp
Rating: 2.5 My first time trying Carnitas El Momo. First of all, I realized I messed up! I only checked out Yelp reviews afterwards, at which time I realized that I probably completely ordered the wrong meat option. I ordered the pork belly, and did not like it at all. Although I don't eat it often, I absolutely love a good and succulent carnitas meal. I've had great carnitas in Michoacán, East LA and Boyle Heights. Carnitas El Momo offers a choice of meat options: pork butt, belly, skin, burnt ends and taco mixto. The server at the counter was friendly, and understood that it was my first time there. I wish I could have received some guidance on how to order, and which meat option would be the closest to your "traditional " carnitas. So I went ahead blindly and ordered the pork belly taco. First of all, it did not have the carnitas taste which I love so much. In fact, it didn't have any flavor at all. It was a fairly good sized taco with 2 corn tortillas. But I could only eat less than half of it. There was a lot of fat and although I didn't order the skin, there was a lot of thick skin attached to the fat, which I didn't eat. It came with a red salsa and green salsa--- one of them was super hot. We went late in the afternoon, and it was not crowded at all. There is indoor seating and it is fairly spacious. Service was friendly and quick. Given the lack of flavor in the pork belly taco, I actually wouldn't expect more from any of the other choices. Would I return to Carnitas El Momo? NO! For this reason, I rounded my rating down to 2.0.
google avatar

Rox C.

Yelp
I would say that the tacos are flavorful and full of meat. The salsa, good lord was hot! The place overall is very empty and clean as we were the only customers there. Almost seemed like no one knows when they are open. We tried to go there I would say about 5 times and on the last try they actually were finally open. 3 days a week is their schedule with a very limited time slot. So, as far as us chasing a restaurant down, we won't be doing that again. It was not bad, but for the price and the hunting for the open sign, we can check this one off of the list. Customer service was great, that I will say. But again.. even if we did like it enough to come back again, we can't get a taste for it during off days because they are closed. ‍ sadly we would gladly take our business elsewhere after that.

Yelp
Food was gross and cold Food was gross and cold Never open that tells you the food they serve is old no flavor

Yelp
Best best carnitas in town. These are my absolute favorites. They even came out in a food Netflix series so you know they are good. They can have long lines at times and they run out so you defiantly want to stop by early. Their service is amazing and they even provide a tester taco while you wait sometimes. This is their sample. I love it here and have been coming for years.

Yelp
I finally made it over try the carnitas that friends have been talking about. They actually have different meat options: Pork Butt, Belly, Skin, Tongue, Snout, Burnt Ends, and Taco Mixto. I decided to stick to the pork butt and picked up 1.5 lbs, Family Style, which comes w/ tortillas, salsas, jalapenos, onion and cilantro. The meat was well seasoned and moist. It was actually a lot of meat for the 4 in my family since we are not really big eaters, probably enough meat for another 2-3 tacos. The restaurant itself has a lot of seating so it's good for eating in even with groups of 6-8 people. The decorations and murals/paintings on the walls are nicely done. The cashier was nice and service was quick. I ordered to take out and didn't have to wait too long.

Yelp
I've been to the boyle heights location a long time ago and just learned about this location opening up. This branch was located in the middle of a warehouse district of monterey park. I went around 1pm on a wednesday and there weren't too many people. I ordered a migajas taco and an aporkalypse taco. It took about 10 minutes for the order. The migajas taco was super juicy. I loved the half crunchy half tender texture of the meat. It felt a little bit too oily for me but was delicious nonetheless. The aporkalypse taco was a mix of all the other taco meats into one. I loved the small bits of fat and meat along with the variety of textures. The aporkalypse has always been my favorite and go to/recommendation. Overall, the quality of the tacos is the same as their boyle heights location. This place happens to be an actual store and not the side of someone's house. The indoor seating is also a nice change from having to stand outside.

Yelp
I've been to Carnitas El Momo in the Boyle Heights location in 2019. At the time I had 4 tacos from this restaurant. Mind you, this place only serves pork tacos. I came today and ordered 4 tacos and I couldn't finish them. At most I finished 2 and 1/2 tacos. It was sort of a waste of money because each taco was $4. Either this place packs in more food per taco than they did before, or my appetite is getting smaller. Anywhoo, these are the best pork tacos in southern California. My highest recommendation.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
The pork tacos here are as authentic. I really liked the lengua and the Carnitas taco.

Yelp
Carnitas El Momo original location in Boyle Height still sells in front of their home and now has a brick and mortar location in Monterey Park, CA. Their family recipe for carnitas so good they've been featured on Netflix, YouTube, LA Times, LA Eater, etc. Their specialty is carnitas only: Pork shoulder (most popular), Burnt Ends ( sells out quick), pork stomach (always available), pork skin (available), pork snout (available)... the house recommended is the "mixta" a little bit of everything. Your choice of: tacos, mulitas, quesadillas, tortas, or A La Carte per pound. Their house salsas are wonderful. The Green salsa is my favorite. The red is the spicer one. Every time I been to their locations the carnitas are sold out! Definitely give them a call or follow them on social media for the latest information. If you love carnitas, Carnitas El Momo is a must try on your foodie adventure!

Yelp
Anyone an original fan of their Boyle Heights location? This location is the same in quality, and quantity!!! And really close to our new place. So glad we finally got to try this location, to say it's worth it for us. $4 large portioned tacos!! Mix meat is our fav. El Momo is known to us for large portions, and cleaner processed/quality meat cuts compared to many local places. Stew/boiled meat where you add your own amount of salt. Prices have increased over time like everywhere else. And it has different vibes compare to feeling like eating at grandma's dining room attached to the kitchen. Restroom is outside with a key accessed at the cashier.

Yelp
Dropped by for a weekday lunch taco because I had read so many good things. I was not disappointed. Cook handed out some free "burnt ends" tacos for a few of us to try and those had tons of flavor. The carnitas tacos I ordered were stuffed with tons of tasty meat and were complimented by the salsa and onions+cilantro provided and might even had been better with the picked pepper and veggies which I did not try. Very good. I will be back

Yelp
My dad has been wanting to come here for awhile and we finally got the chance to. We got here before 10:45am and there were a few people in line. By the time we left around noon, the line was out the door. So definitely get here early! We basically ordered almost everything on the menu: mulita with skin, tacos with various meats (mine was with the burnt ends), torta with pork belly, and quesadillas with all the meats. They were all so delicious! They definitely know how to cook pork. I really enjoyed the mulita in all it's cheesy glory. I think next time I'll have it skin and burnt ends. Having the mulita and one taco was just enough for me, but I could seriously eat more tacos if I truly wanted to stuff myself. The tortillas were delicious and more on the thicker side, which is what I like. The quesadillas were very filling! My mom and sister couldn't finish theirs. We also ordered both agua frescas: the berry jamaica and the horchata. Both delicious! The jamaica had fresh fruit in it and the horchata had a lot of cinnamon, which is what I like. The service was excellent! We were greeted with a smile and we got free tacos while we were waiting for our third order (yes, we ordered 3 times.. the last one being an order of all the meats to go). I definitely want to come back here. This is one of the best places to eat pork.

Yelp
Tried their original location twice and decided to give their new location a shot since it is close to home. Once again very underwhelming. I would give it to 2 and a half stars. First off the maciza here is super dry you'd be disappointed if you paid for something this low quality in meat. I've had their maciza on 3 separate occasions and it's awful every time. You would think since thats the main item of carnitas it would be better. I will say their cuerito and buche is solid. No salsa bar or nothing inside that should be standard for a carnitas spot especially a store front. Went on a Thursday and they had one Agua Fresca option which was pepino. The ice was melted and the agua fresca was served warm. All in all if you are store front location put some effort into it. For the price you can go to a few other carnitas spots in the LA area that are way better. This place is hype mainly because of the location being on the east side but other than that I don't see why.

Looks like they closed down been there twice in past week the sign says open but nobody and a bunch of mail build up on floor Too bad loved this place

Yelp
All things porky and nothing butt This is where you should go when you want to swim with the pigs. They have nothing but pork here, so be ready to get your beast mode on. They have every part of pork you can think of, from the front to back, top to bottom, and everything between. Take notice that the signs they have might not be what you have in mind. When they said pork belly, it's actually buche which is stomach and not bacon. And when they said pork butt (maciza), that is what we the ignorant call 'carnitas' as we know it. They have pork skin, but not the crispy kind (chicharron). So they have everything porky, except for bacon and rinds. But hinds, they do have that. And that is what you want. I ordered the pork belly tortas thinking that it's something like bacon but to my surprise it's actually offal, the stomach part. But to their merit, it was cooked beautifully that it's not gamey at all. Especially when you add the spicy red salsa (or the tangy green salsa). Do ask for more salsa, because you'd finish a small cup just for two tacos. I will come again, but next time i'd definitely go straight to the butt. I never knew i actually a butt person after all, well at least at carnitas el butt-butt.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was fantastic and they were not skimpy on the meat. Didn't get to try an Auga Fresca as they only had horchata and it's not my favorite. Will be coming back for sure!

Yelp
We are always on the lookout for charming family-owned restaurants with delectable food and captivating stories. After catching a glimpse of Carnitas El Momo on a Netflix show, we were immediately captivated. We embarked on a trip to LA in search of this restaurant and were not disappointed. We savored their mouthwatering Carnitas Mixtas, Mulitas made with mixta, quesadilla, and tacos. The salsas were incredibly flavorful, with a delightful spicy kick. Personally, I found the red sauce particularly satisfying--it's spicy! The service was decent, as this establishment operates differently from traditional restaurants. Rather than having servers, you place your order at the counter and receive your food on a tray. Despite the casual atmosphere, Carnitas El Momo takes pride in serving top-notch carnitas. They also offer various types of carnitas by the pound, complete with tortillas, salsa, and fixings, allowing you to create your own flavorful combinations. To complement the meal, we highly recommend trying their delicious hibiscus drink--it's a must-try. Overall, Carnitas El Momo exceeded our expectations, delivering quality food in a relaxed setting. It's a gem of a restaurant, embodying the essence of small, family-owned establishments with a flavorful twist.

Yelp
The BEST Carnitas and Buche that I've ever had! The carnitas are next level delicious. I left my wonderful dining experience wanting to come back before I got in my car. Yes...it's that good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean and very roomy inside and on the patio. The meat is so flavor and tender ,almost melt in your mouth tender. I cannot rave about this place enough. Great food . A MUST if you love carnitas !
google avatar

Hillary S.

Yelp
I'm sure we've all seen the heartwarming Netflix episode in Carnitas El Momo - and if you haven't what are you doing?? The service was extremely helpful, after noticing it was our first time she explained their menu and recommended certain items based on our taste. I got 1 Buche and 1 Lengua, very yummy and tender. The salsa is on the spicier side but yummy nonetheless. For some reason, I loved their jalapeños... LOL so juicy and the perfect spice. I'll definitely want to check out the trucks!
google avatar

Monique H.

Yelp
We found out about this place through the Netflix documentary. We drove from Sacramento to eat here. The service was okay, it was pretty busy when we arrived. The inside was well lit with light and plenty of tables inside and outside. As for the food...AMAZING. my son will NOT eat meat and always spits it out after he chews out all the flavor. The carnitas were so soft and moist, he ate everything. We had the pork butt and burnt ends. If you don't really like salty, go with the pork butt. We love salty, so before we head back home, we're picking up a lb of burnt ends. Don't pass this place up!
google avatar

Puneet G.

Yelp
If you want pork tacos this is the place. They literally don't do anything else and have focused on the art of pork. The food comes out with average pace, the people are great, the ambiance is as you would expect. If you want to experience the true breadth of pork in basic Mexican food format, this is the spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Had to stop by Carnitas El Momo after watching Netflix's Street Food: USA. This hit the spot! Probably the best carnitas tacos I've ever had. I would go out of my way to come here for carnitas. Got Migajas (Burnt Ends), Cueritos (Skin), Aporkalypse (Taco Mixta), Buche (Belly) Tacos and a Quesadilla. My favorite were the migajas tacos, the meat was so tender, juicy and full of flavor. Their quesadillas are also tasty. Their tacos are huge, I can only eat about two. I definitely want to try Maciza (Pork Butt) next time! One thing that sucks though is that their menu is only carnitas related. Would suck to come here if I was craving tacos and I wanted something more than just carnitas. Then again, maybe that's why their carnitas is so good because they only specialize in that. They have a couple other locations in LA which I think are taco truck style locations but this is their first brick and mortar restaurant! Came on a Friday for lunch and there was a very short line that went by quickly, only waited maybe 5-10 minutes to order and another 5-10 minutes to get my food. I was concerned from reading other reviews that it would be busy and food sells out early but I had no issues, probably because of the time that I went. If you go on a weekend especially during prime hours, it might be busy. Price is fair for the size and amount of meat that comes on the tacos. It's in a very small shopping plaza, not sure if you could even call it a plaza. There is a small free parking lot, I didn't have issues finding a spot. Service is friendly. They have plenty of inside and outside seating but if it's busy it could be hard to find a spot to sit and eat. It's casual but the decor inside is very cute.

Yelp
I've been to the other Carnitas El Momo where it's outside the owner's house and I had a great experience there. When I learned that they have a new location in Monterey Park, which is closer to me in distance and has its own parking lot, I knew I definitely had to hit it up. Tacos seems slightly smaller in tortilla size than what you get at the original place but they definitely packed the tacos with a lot of meat so it's $4 worth. I got one of each tacos except for the mixed meats- it was enough to share between two people. All the flavors are there and they were tasty. Definitely a great taco place that specializes in pork meats.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
First saw this place from the Netflix show "street food." The first episode shows a few places that was not as appreciated as it should be around La area. We decided to come try this place the next day! One word...amazing! They have different kind of pork from carnitas to maciza, buche, migajas, and pork skin. All amazing! This place gets packed and all their locations (yes multiple locations) get packed fast. They also sell out of their meats quickly too! So make sure you come early and off hours to find parking, get the meat choice you want, and find seating. You can order anything and it is all delicious.
google avatar

Art C.

Yelp
I was all set to bash this place given that they had run out of most of the food- and I hear it's a common occurrence too... so, first, here goes: Look, if you routinely run out of food you really just don't know what the hell you're doing. You're literally leaving money on the table. Yeah I understand you do it for the love, etc. But you can still do it the right way for the love... Gotta learn how to run a restaurant. Glad I got that off my chest... Now as for the food, it was amazing in every way. Greasy AF, but just wonderful. Some of the best we've had (and we've had a lot). I do understand some of the reviews saying it's 1-note... but that's a really succulent note they're playing and honestly I'm into it... Just gotta perfect the running a restaurant part... still... Not to be missed if in SoCal. Definitely should be on your essential list.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic food the tacos are perfect. The service is always great and attentive and fast. The ambience is calm with good music and a very clean restaurant. FIRE TACOS

Yelp
We went here for an after graduation celebration. We went early before 11am and it took us 15-20 minutes to get our order. We ordered pork belly, pork skin, pork butt tacos along with hibiscus drink. All of it are very good, super tasty. The parking is okay although it gets full close to lunch time. So it's better to be here earlier than 12nn.

Yelp
Aporklypse for everything. Tacos, mulitas, quesadillas. This is the real deal and another alternative to the OG location in LA. Watch their story on Netflix, Youtube, etc.

Yelp
I was craving carnitas and I decided to come to my favorite carnita spot. I ordered online ahead of time and when I got there they were packing it up for me. They were quick and very friendly. Every time I come I get really good service and the food tastes delicious. This will continue to be one of my favorite carnita places of all time. It was 11am when I came and it wasn't too busy. There were empty tables for you to enjoy your food. And it is not too loud so you can come in and enjoy your friends and families company.

Yelp
This place is probably the best carnitas I've had. Came here on a Sunday around 11 and there were a few people in line. Ordered 2 tacos and a mulitas. The tacos come with a big handful a meat each. I can't imagine eating more than 3 and it would probably be extremely filling. Get the Migajas, definitely a must. The mulitas was with the porkapaclypse. All the meats and it really adds different textures to the food. Delicious. Highly recommend as a must if you are looking for Carnitas. Their service is great too.

Yelp
Having gone to Carnitas El Momo when it was a food stall in El Sereno, I was pretty excited that it had opened a storefront in Monterey Park. This location resolves some of the trickier parts of the experience, namely the congested streets and difficulty parking. Now you can just pull into the parking lot and wait inside a spacious shop. I ordered the same as I usually do, several lbs. of the carnitas to go. This location specifically lists the migajes (burnt ends) on the menu so I ordered that as part of the mixture. Maybe it was mind playing tricks on me, but since I didn't see the hot plate 2 feet away from me, and smell the intoxicating bronze vats of pork stewing in the house behind me, I felt like the carnitas here weren't *quite* as moist and unctuous as the street stall version. They were a little sparse distributing salsas and cilantro/onion so I recommend requesting extra. My tacos were excellent as always.

Rania G.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place considering all the reviews and the juicy meat pictures on social media. But only left with disappointment as the meat was tasteless and not really tender or fresh. Don't think I would come back.

Yelp
Best Carnitas I've ever had in my life Customer service is amazing Anyone wanting to cum get sum tacos or tortas id recommend this place everytime

Yelp
I drove all the way from the Bay Area just to check this place out. Seen their documentary on Netflix. Loved the story behind their amazing family recipe. The food was beyond amazing! Best Carnitas I have ever had! Line was out the door. And we had to wait about 15-20 for the food. But it was very worth the wait. Great customer service and their new location was really nice. The Bunt Ends and Pulled Pork cuts of meat were my favorite.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Saw them on Netflix and I had to try this place out! We got here on a sunday once they opened so it was nice and clean. They were playing some good music too! I ordered 5 of the maciza tacos not knowing how big they were lol and mexican coke. Okay...I saw them and I already knew they were dry. The limes they gave us were tiny with no juice (and I love alot of limes on my carnitas) went and asked for more and each packet had 3 little juiceless limes. Whatever I'll just eat the jalapenos...no help, still very dry. I couldn't eat my tacos with the 2 tortillas they were hard and also dry so I ate them with 1. I was able to forcefully finish 3 tacos and took the other 2 home. So overall I was dissatisfied. I dont live too far from there but I definitely wont be coming back. Sorry.

Yelp
Came here to grab some lunch after reading how good the carnitas are here. We got 1 of each - Pork Butt, Pork Belly, Pork Skin and Burnt Ends. My favorites were the Pork Skin and the Pork Belly. Those two were extremely flavorful and tender. The Burnt Ends had a very very weird after taste which I did not like. Overall, solid tacos but on the pricier side.

Yelp
Pork skin tacos. That is all. Soo good but I wish they had spicy carrots. Service was AMAZING, especially that complementary Cafe de Hoya! Had to call back just to ask how it was made because it officially needs to be my every morning coffee. Ambiance was super cute and a simple taco shop with family friendly run environment which is always a plus these days.

Yelp
How can anyone even tell me this is even decent. The carnitas isn't even seasoned. Maybe if you like chicken breast boiled tacos, you'll like the food here. Very disappointed. This can't be why they were famous. F U netflix and F this place. I don't even know how they can even say they're a Carnitas specialist.

Yelp
Saw this place featured on a Netflix show (their taco truck version) so wanted to try. Absolutely delicious and would go back. Although we probably should've asked what the most popular items were first because what we went back to try second the second time definitely surpassed the first round. We weren't mad about what we got though that first round: Started with a pork butt (maciza) and pork belly (buche) tacos to try each part. Then got a all meat mulitas) which was so good! The portion sizes were big and very generous meat portions. We got back in line to try the burnt ends and the pork skin (which they were out of so will have to come back for), and it also was very good. The burnt ends was more what I was looking for / expecting when eating the first two tacos. Don't get me wrong- still very tasty but if I were to go back I'd get: burnt ends and the all meat (aporkalypae). Then if I have room I'd get the pork belly. The pork butt is good for those who don't like the fattier/greasier pieces but if you want more texture and taste get the burnt ends or the all meat. The 4 is only because I personally didn't care for the pork butt as much after eating the others and because they were out of the crispy skin. I'd def go back though looking to try that or the torta which a number of people around us seemed to also order so could possibly bump up the rating

Yelp
Delicious and rich pork heaven! Wish they were open later but if you can make it in time and try all options you will be impressed. My current favorite pork tacos... beware they are fatty so sometimes the taco isn't balanced with the right amount of fat and meat. That's why I order a few different ones to balance them out.

Yelp
If you like carnitas and the real flavor of pork you need THE APORKALYPSE TORTA! Outstanding mix of all the good parts in side of a good size torta with great salsa and or whole jalapeños en escabeche. I was full half way through but I had to keep going it was so good. AAA spot for carnitas!

Yelp
Carnitas fans, this is your jam. I watched the Netflix show featuring Carnitas El Momo and was so inspired by this family's story. The passion they have for their food translates to the taste as well as the way they run their business. The restaurant front is inviting and simple. You won't have to look far to see some serious cleaning going on too - always a great thing to see because that means they take pride in their place. Now let's get to the star, the carnitas! My favorite meat was the pork butt because it packs in all the flavor and the tenderness is just right. I also had the pork belly which was delicious but not my brand of carnitas. If you're a fan of a fattier meat, this is a definite. They serve up quite a healthy portion of meat so 2-3 tacos should do the trick for most. Need a little more than tacos, go for a quesadilla too. So glad I had an opportunity to check out this legendary place!

Yelp
If you love Carnitas you're already familiar with the name El Momo https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/carnitas-el-momo-monterey-park?select=ZZQl2pRvQgg5kAU6XB-mbQ well they opened up a brick and mortar, in a location that seems to be a revolving door for food, but I think these guys will be around a long while. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/carnitas-el-momo-monterey-park?select=5q_JBDbYIwKEUOnrvCcgmQ My ONLY complaint I guess you can say is they don't deviate from the menu and how meat is cooked and served, they have BUCHE but it's cooked and served to the consistency of a rubber band, NOT to my liking, but I do love me some Buche bien dorado, nice and crisp but they would not do that, yeah it sucks but let's just enjoy some PIG! Tacos Maciza ($3.50) https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/carnitas-el-momo-monterey-park?select=XVafTUviSzh9vvXlEqG5GQ Carnitas done to perfection, so much flavor in this taco and they do pack on the meat https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/carnitas-el-momo-monterey-park?select=8GDYuRiLMmfqGlIjebC6mA it would be nice if they chopped the onions a bit smaller https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/carnitas-el-momo-monterey-park?select=3wbOlOm3YYjSvMME43KeCg but I could eat these tacos all day long. 5-Stars Quesadilla Migajas ($7.00) https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/carnitas-el-momo-monterey-park?select=Kw9--tBaJTcl8yW0LJVXNA Large flour tortilla filled with cheese and mixed piggy https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/carnitas-el-momo-monterey-park?select=22IqCSJ5_6bNqCSDEYbjDg #happyendings 5-Stars Salsa Verde https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/carnitas-el-momo-monterey-park?select=RqO9HL-nCwO7rcU4H-Ltnw Fantastic

Yelp
We had to check out Carnitas El Momo after seeing them on Netflix and so glad we did. We stopped by on a Thursday afternoon around 1:30pm and it wasn't as busy as we expected it to be. There was plenty of seating. Bathroom is located outside around the corner and key is by the counter. We ordered the pork belly, pork butt, and the all meat taco. My favorite had to be the pork belly - it melted in my mouth! The flavors were great and toppings worked well together. The tacos were huge and 2-3 was good enough.
