Food always on point. And that pupusa lady and them damn pup pupusas are da bomb. Aguas frescas. Forgot to check if they still have them hard shell tacos from back in the day.

There are two kinds of experiences you should have here - a casual dinner in a chill spot eating some carnitas (you can choose your own upon entry by putting them in a tray) or getting some pupusas and other foods to go. Either way, their handmade gorditas/tortillas with spicy red salsa are amazing and enough reason to here.

Went today for Carne asada tacos got Chuck steak instead chopped up into minced meat to try and fool you into thinking it's Carne asada , but the flavor and texture are totally different , BEWARE PEOPLE THEY SWITCHING MEAT , NOT GOOD FOR BUSINESS.

What a great place. The food was so good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They make everything in front of you. The sopes are made from scratch. The meat was fresh not dry. Definitely recommend. Bring cash, they don't take card...and parking is limited.

This place for the price is the shit! How it gets a 3.5 is beyond me. My rugby kids brought me here and for 45 bucks for 6 people everything hit. From the cheap pupusas, tacos, quesadillas and chicharrones everything was perfectly portioned, seasoned and tasted great. A hole in the wall place through and through for all the best reasons! I'd definitely bring my girl here and it may be a tradition for the team now!

I came here because of YouTuber, LA Try Guy. I got chicken tacos and a drink. The tacos were well seasoned. The parking lot is small so parking was tricky but I didn't wait too long.

Food is authentic.. It's always busy & crowded!! They have an indoor patio & the ambience is normal for any great Mexican well liked spot!! This spot is great for lunch dinner & after hours. If you love Mexican cuisine this is the spot to feed your cravings anytime of day!!! The Green Chile Verde burrito is what I ordered that day & I loved it!! They also have breakfast burritos & chorizo & eggs burritos just check out their website for full menu & I can say from experience you won't be disappointed

I will be reporting them to the health department. When I walked in it was about 10pm. It was slow. One man was eating. One man was mopping. The guy at the counter was very friendly. He asked me what I wanted. I asked for 2 carnitas tacos. He pop pulled out four dry and stale looking tortillas and reheated them in the grill.. just then another coworker walked by and dipped his hands in the caldo de res ... and pulled a piece of meat out and right into his mouth. I was floored. I should've walked out but I didnt. Instead I watched the other guy pour some bits of meat on the tortilla... while the guy that just stuck his hands in the caldo... grabbed my cash. I grabbed the tacos and as soon as I left I dumped them in the trash. Maybe this place is good.. and the food is ok but that was disgusting.

I've been going to the Carnitas Michoacán on Broadway in Lincoln Heights for decades but this spot has become my favorite of the chain. The carnitas here seem juicier and more tender. I like them in burritos but even better is to have the carnitas in the nachos or papas fritas (french fries) with lots of nacho cheese and pickled jalapeños/carrots/onions. A bonus at this location are the trays of fantastic chicharrones that they sell by the pound. The pork rind is fried to a nice crunchy golden hue and there's usually a tasty chunk of pork meat still attached to the rind. A bag of chicharrones and some salsa or Tapatio makes for a great snack.

Hello Yelp, I am happy to review this fantastic neighborhood locale that serves traditional Hispanic comfort cuisine in LA. The food here is rustic, family and community oriented with traditional Mexican techniques and styles. They have a cooking line where dishes such as Chile relleno, burritos - including mojado style, tacos, enchiladas, etc. are cooked to order and some ready to eat items such as roasted chicken on the bone, carne asada, and claro chicharrones! The cuisine is very homestyle and traditional family kitchen cooking. For example, I am pretty sure the red sauce on the wet burrito is made with the juices/oil the selected meat is cooked in. Everything is served with beans and rice too. Great customer service, walk in and you get a large "Hola Primo", and a smile. Prices are low and the portions large. I give 4 stars instead of 5 because the store could use some upkeep and maintained. The decor is bland. The food is great, people are friendly and price is perfect. Thank you for your time. This place is an OG spot we've been going to for years. I grew up in the pico unión district going with my mom to get carnitas and pupusas. Lol love this place. I wish they could upgrade their inside. Place is still looking 40 years old.

Sorry but I don't know where this place gets all this good feed back, disgusting much place flies all over the carnitas they have food all over the place nasty. The carnitas stink I still don't get like a place like this is open for business.

I wanted to give this place four stars but... there was false advertising in the menu above the cash register. We ordered food and the receipt was more than what we totaled from the prices. Turns out they didn't change the menu prices or even said anything about it. False advertising. Minus one star. Other than that, this place was cool. Came here after a day of drinking. Was hungry so we came here so we could also go to the market next door. This reminds me of classic inner-city LA. Ladies making fresh pupusas, meats, people coming in and out with their daily thing and traffic. It was a pain in the ass to park in the little parking lot. I ordered the carnitas burrito. It was damn good. Especially with the salsa. It had good chunks of carnitas with rice and some beans. It was very filling. We also got some of their carnitas which was delicious the next day in the oven. Would I come back? If I were in the area. Too far for me to make it out there just for the food.

Awesome burritos and tacos. They put fried rice into the burritos. The hot sauce is peppery and spicy. Mmmm. I love to get the special nachos topped with carne asada. The nacho chips are drowned in delicious cheese sauce and topped with pickled jalapenos, onions, carrots. This is paradise. They even serve roasted chicken. But I never tried. I always fill up on the tacos and nachos. It's part of Pico Union. So you people scared of the ghetto should go back to your bougie Chipotles instead.

1. LOVE walking in and picking out our own chicharon! (This is what I love the most here!) 2. Carnitas are a hit and miss. I am not a big fan of Carnitas already, but sometimes we get a really good piece of meat. 3. Red Salsa (FIRE HOT - you have been warned), Nopales salsa and beans come with the Chicharon and carnitas...I LOVE drenching my chicharon's in all three and wrapping it up in a corn tortilla! YUMMMMMAAYY 4. This place is SUPER stuffy! You WILL smell like a chicharon when you leave! 5. Parking is a nightmare, but hey it's in LA, what do you expect?!? 6. The parking lot is shared with a ton of different places...trips me out how many businesses are on one small corner! 7. Oooo and don't forget to order a pupusa from the cute little lady, who has her stand in the same restaurant. 8. It is in the hood. Get over it....it's in walking distance from USC if that makes you feel better ;) Take in the ghetto ambiance and enjoy the best chicharon's in LA!

These are by far some of THE BEST TACOS I've ever had. I grew up in the area and as a teenager went there many times, I recently went back to see if it was still open and to my surprise it was. The pastor tacos and carne asada tacos are some of the best I've ever had, I have friends that are willing to drive about an hour just for some of these tacos.

Wtf y'all thinkin?! Y'all must be coming in drunk or something because when I ate here I was horribly disappointed. I got a burrito the carne asada with everything. I cut that bitch in half and it was already soggy! That shit came apart and the meat was completely bland. Beans no flavor, meat no flavor, and the chile was the only thing giving it a spec of life. This place is a big fat NO! I'm finna update this if I end up with the runs...

Have yet to have a bad item here. Found this place by accident exploring LA one day. Great food at great prices. Menudo and Pozole were well seasoned and full of flavour. Portion size are more than you pay for in my opinion. So how could you beat great prices for lots of food? You can't. Must try if you're looking for that next must try.

REAL Mexican food And they have those quarter machines so if you have kids they can get entertained for a minute.

This is the worst ive seen when it comes to hygene, the sopes have no flavor the only good thing here are the pupusas. I just don't know how the health department hasn't closed this down.

Bomb carnita tacos!!!!!! The guy working in the front is supper friendly but the girl in the back not so much. Either way tacos were so bomb and some real flavored carnitas!!!!!!!!!! Will come again!

I'm a fan of their carnitas ($8 a pound). Not the best stuff in the world but it definitely hits the spot. Especially with some tortilla chips from Nuños Market next door. I'd definitely like to give their chicharron and tacos a try. As I mentioned in another review parking is awful, be prepared to wait, potentially fear the structural integrity of your car being compromised, or almost be run over.

This place is gross! People who says is good probably never try Mexican food before or something. Salsas are tasteless and tortillas are thicker than a pancake. Don't even waste your money.

This place is really good! The people who helped ys are nice! The serving is big. The food is very tasty! I love the fruit juice too.

When I was a kid this was one of the best places ..the cheese burger and fries had that "Troca" feel..the Nachos with melted cheese, beans and carne asada .. the Burritos ..tacos..wow.. this place was great..then I grew up and saw that things weren't the way they seemed. I see the same cook from when I was a kid..the items are stacked the same..the decor of the dining place is obviously the same..bathrooms are still dirty ..prices obviously went up but they're still good..so what gives? Then I realized the food quality. Obviously when you're a kid everything is delicious but fast forward ..the meats are the cheapest quality .. the sides are old and not prepped on the same day..the bread are old..the cheese is recycled ..and it's TRUE, flies just bug the hell out of you if you dine In..so what happened? Customer Service is great..super super cool and down to earth ..parking is Hell! Ofcourse depends what time of day you go.. as much as I want to give it 2 stars I wont ..I'll give 3 only because I know its probably carelessness and they could shape up over night ..I bet if Godon Ramsey showed up..in 24 hours that place would be where it should be and even better.

For a carnitas place the carnitas was really underwhelming. Dry, hard even. Nice people, but, the atmosphere is that of a laundromat.

I used to work downtown near this place about 16 years ago, and would always eat here. Their carnitas burritos are the BEST! And the sauce is to die for! I've went and just purchased the sauce before. Amazing! I work on the West side of town now, but every once in a while I'll still take the 45 minute drive from my house to go here. My one fear is that one day they'll be gone, cause seems like they've been there forever.

Others claim they have the best oven roasted chicken, but they haven't tried great chicken until they come here. Besides that, this is the only place I go to whenever I want to get real authentic Mexican style roasted chicken at a very good price. I recommend my friends to eat here whenever they have a chance. And yes, it is in the Pico-Union area, but so what? So don't be scared and take a chance on coming here. You will not be disappointed.

Weak compare to the one off Broadway in Lincoln heights. The tripas and bunche was soggy and lost all the chewy texture I hold to love. The cabeza was cold, and pastor has great flavor but no texture. My conclusion why the food tasted like s*** was I was one of the first few people that walked in as it opened. But still, as a restaurant u must serve our best to our customers or else they aren't going to come back. As for me. I will never come back. Broadway and Ave 19 for me.
