Carnitas' Snack Shack - North Park

The food is so delicious! It looks like a literal shack from the front located on the street, but around the side there’s lots of seating. The only thing I thought was just okay was the fries with bacon ketchup.. it wasn’t tangy enough and I just wanted real ketchup. The pork appetizer was super tender. The sandwiches are amazing! Wish I had gotten a fountain soda because they had artisan sodas in the machine instead of Pepsi/coke

Unless you know it's there it is easy to pass on by. I found Carnitas snack shack by chance looking for somewhere else. With a line down to the corner in front of a random little building on university, you know it had to be good! And did not disappoint! Start with the triple threat or one of the mind bending vegetarian sides and you will be hooked. Great for a group or riding solo. You owe it to yourself to check it out!

Super cool spot to eat, walk-up combined with outdoor seating and craft soda/beers to wash down the food. I got the big pork sandwich and it was super good. It's in a nice part of town, so I recommend it big time if you're looking for good pork dishes, a different lunch spot to kill time, or ideally both.

Very good service and loved the outdoor patio seating. Ordered the seasoned fries, guac & chips, snackshack burger and a mission blonde ale. Only dislikes were the tiny cup of corn in a mayo chili sauce and the bacon ketchup...didn't taste like bacon or ketchup. More like sugary canned tomato sauce... but everything else was delicious!!! The guac is how I like and make it, with fresh chips. The burger was cooked to order and very flavorful!!! The bun was amazing! The fries had just the right seasoning and I could have eaten two orders by themselves... Definitely going back to try more!!!

It's ok. But I feel that the quality has gone way downhill over the years. There's a reason the long lines aren't as long anymore. Today I had the pork belly app and the chicken sandwich. The pork belly app was way too sweet. It used to have a nice savory taste as well, but now it's just overpowering. The chicken sandwich was ok, bit there was something off. The sodas are good.

Been here a couple of times and been very happy with the food! I had the steak sandwich and I don’t think I’ll be getting anything else from now on. The bread was soft and buttery, the steak was cooked perfectly and they didn’t skim on the meat. I did have to eat it with a fork since the bread fell apart, but who cares! It was delicious. I also ordered some fries and also seasoned well. The service was fast and you can tell it’s quality food. Give this place a try.

Love this place! Really casual and inviting but the food is delicious, especially the pork (as you'd expect). They also have a secret menu item of the month according to the menu and other events that if I lived in SD I'd try to check out.

Place is unreal. Pork belly app and one of the chicken sandos was our choice as recommended by them. Good call. Good local beers too. Cool spot behind the location with some lawn games and tvs and such. We got here at 11 when they open so I can't comment on long lines but i can imagine they do form for sure so earlier the better
