"Carolina Jax is a popular burger joint in town and has recently been featured on the Food Network for its burger creations. While most burgers are over $10, the classics are still wallet-friendly, starting at $9. The fried onion burger is a riff on an American classic with thinly sliced onions smashed right into the already thin patty. Cooking the burger on a flat grill gives it a crispy crust. When the burger is done, it’s topped with cheese, house mustard, and pickles, all loaded onto a perfectly toasted bun." - Megan duBois

"If you drive down Oak Street without paying attention, you may miss the corner restaurant Carolina Jax. The counter-service burger spot is slinging burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, and loaded fries. Diners can opt for one of the classic burgers with just cheese, sauce, and all the fixings or order one of the signature burgers like the OBX, a smash burger with a slightly spicy poblano mayo, Cajun ranch, smoky bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and tangy key lime guacamole." - Megan duBois

"From a food truck to a bustling burger joint, Carolina Jax shines with inventive smash burgers and loaded fries. The standout Hurricane burger combines a house beef blend, white American cheese, jalapenos, macaroni, bacon, and chipotle sauce, while the Riverside burger blends sweet, spicy, creamy, and smoky flavors with Key lime, and datil pepper aioli, goat cheese, and orange marmalade on a smash burger. Besides burgers, there’s a selection of sandwiches and hot dogs, including a Hurricane Dog topped with the same lavish ingredients as the Hurricane burger." - Megan duBois

"Carolina Jax is often considered by locals the best burger spot in town. The small restaurant brings big flavor and unexpected combinations between a bun. The can’t miss burger on the Carolina Jax menu is the Riverside, which is topped with goat cheese, applewood smoked bacon, key lime datil pepper aioli, spinach, orange marmalade, and datil drizzle sauce. And don’t even think about leaving before trying the loaded fries, which come with a variety of toppings like cheese sauce, chili, and pulled pork." - Megan duBois

The food here was actually rather unique. I was impressed with the food. Everything has a gourmet look/appeal to it. The staff seem to be rather young and the place was pretty busy. You can sit outside which me and my wife liked. The bathrooms are cute and the place is very clean. Don't forget to enjoy their Italian vanilla cream soda or a unique Italian cherry soda. Cute place to bring a date.

These are some of the best local burgers in Jacksonville. The first time I had Carolina Jax they became an immediate favorite. I love the unique burger options they offer, and the flavor is amazing. Also their fries (loaded fries), and shakes, are delicious as well - you can’t go wrong. The food is a bit overpriced in my opinion, and the wait times are long (probably due to the freshness of the food, and the popularity of the restaurant). Though Carolina Jax is newer to me (I didn’t hear about it until a few years ago), I make it a priority to come here every time I’m in town.

Google
So good! The burgers were phenomenal as was the fries! All cooked to order but still not a long wait. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our mac and cheese was slightly cold, they remade it without any issue and apologized numerous times. Even cold though, it tasted great but my daughter wanted it warm. 2 weeks of eating in Jacksonville, and it was my family's favorite place.

Google
Food was really good! I got the grill chicken club nd requested a beef patty added to that. Also got a chicken Philly melt both with sweet potatoe fries, the fries had a cinnamon butter sauce that came as a dipping. The atmosphere is okay, it is a small joint.

Google
Hands down the best burger spot in Jacksonville! I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu, and it never misses. Every visit is consistently amazing flavorful, fresh, and cooked to perfection. This place truly knows how to deliver every single time. (Fries pictured are “Nacho Mama”)

Google
Food (Riverside Burger) - Hands down the Best Burger I had EVER. Perfectly balanced in flavor. I would have bought 2 burgers. Sweet Patatoe fries were delicious Service - Was great gave me a couple suggestions that all seemed good. Atmosphere - Great had its own style. When you look at it from the outside, you can tell it has something different compared to other places

Google
I know this is a very popular place but I was not impressed. Probably because of parking and the lines and lack of tables. The burger was crispy and sort of burned on one side. I think the various options are clever but the execution at lunch is rushed and the burger is messy. Probably best to visit off hours to have time to enjoy the fries. They have a neat condiment for the sweet potato fries. Cinnamon something. It is crowded here with limited places to sit and even fewer places to park so plan accordingly. To go may be the ticket.

It's been a hot minute since I've been to Carolina Jax and I've been overdue for a visit. Today I got the Black Beard ChickeN Club along with a half order of Cajun Bacon Ranch Fries. My Chicken was well seasoned and grilled to perfection. Mouth watering and juicy. Toppings were all fresh. I loved every bite of this sandwich. The fries are my "goto" with every order. So savory and full of flavor, I could put myself into a coma eating these! There's a reason Carolina Jax is one of my favorite spots in Jax. I've been a customer of theirs since their food truck, Cackalacky's. Those flavorful burgers always hits the spot, and it's a place I'm happy to take any friend of mine who has never been. There's a reason why I get messages like the one I screenshot and shared below, amd that's because Carolina Jax is one of those places I know will consistently put out a great product that they're proud to stand behind.

Yelp
We are fortunate to have Carolina Jax within walking distance to our home. I have heard people travel for these fantastic burgers and sides. Previously we have had carry out. This weekend we decided to eat inside at this great Riverside restaurant and I wanted to review to give it the kudos it deserved. We walked into a clean and casual interior that was just buzzing with excitement. It was crowded, it always is, and for good reason. This is THE location for great smash burgers and sides. The counter and kitchen are part of the room and enhance the great service experience. I had one of their specialty burgers...The Hurricane. Truly decadent. Smash burgers with Mac and Cheese, bacon, chipotle sauce. Incredible! One of the best burgers I've had. Any of their toppings or combinations could stand alone as delicious, but their specialty burgers are well thought out and huge. The fries and onion rings are always a home run as well. You can get them with their signature or Cajun seasoning as well. I promise you'll find something you love and you'll leave full and happy every time. I highly recommend this gem in Riverside. We'll be back.

Yelp
Pretty good for a burger joint. They have a wide variety of burgers on the menu. I choose something very simple. It was pretty good outside of the fact that I asked for the sauce on the side and they still put it on there. The regular fries is enough to share for 3 or 4 people. They were pretty fast and the burger was made to order. It is an order than seat yourself situation. It's definitely a quick eat type of vibe.

Stephanie E.

Yelp
Solid Smash Burger as far as taste. What I didn't enjoy was the bottom of my bread being soaked by all the grease from the burger, toppings were fresh though.. fries were nicely fried, I enjoyed the seasoning on them Milkshake was nice and thick how i like them

Yelp
We went to Carolina Jax for dinner tonight. I got the EAST COAST "COMPETITION" burger. This was the first time I got this burger and have to say "wow" it is my favorite!!!! Love the flavor! * Patty cooked in mustard, two slices American cheese, grilled onion, classic sauce and pickle on potato bun with bacon jam. My wife got the GRANDMA'S CHILI BOWL. She said it was good and had very god flavor. * Ingredients: Side portion of gma's chili (no beans) topped with cheddar jack cheese, sour cream and green onion. We both shared the BEER BATTERED ONION RINGS Served with Texas Petal sauce. The rings have good flavor but are a little greasy in our opinion. We had to blot them with a napkin before eating. We also got two milkshakes; Turtle Turtle shake and the Keylime Pie milkshake. Both were good.

Yelp
On some days the burger is amazing - best in Jacksonville. But on other days the same burger is disappointing. Inconsistent is the word. We've been here many times, and loved it at first. I get the same burger almost every time. I've tried a few others - the fried onion, the hurricane (mac and cheese is delicious), the Carolina (didn't like the slaw). But I'm a classic burger guy, and that's what I usually order. It has been amazing on some days, but not on others. The problem is the patty. They cook their patties extremely inconsistently. It can be way too dense, even lumpy, and it can be served without any sear as if it was not on the stove long enough. Yet other days it is perfectly seared. The difference matters. A burger without a sear is a burger I can't be happy about. Management may want to reexamine the way they run the line - it is not only inefficient but invites a lot of room for error. Avoid peak hours. The wait can be super long when this place gets busy. The loaded fries are awesome. If ordering for two, get a half size, they are gigantic.

Jan B.

Yelp
Tries the patty melt and the Charleston with sweet potato fries. Skip the sweet potato fries and go for one of their regular ones. The sauce is too sweet, thick and heavy. The Charleston really shone, patty melt just ok. Not a big fan of the Texas toast patty melt is on. It is counter service. We went around noon on Sunday and the line and wait for food was extensive. The restaurant was very cold and no one was cleaning table tops between parties. It is a very casual "lunch" type spot.

Sara B.

Yelp
If I'm craving a burger, I know I want the good stuff. Carolina Jax is the great stuff! After coming here for years, the quality never changes. It's delicious every time. I've tried a few of their specialty burgers which are very tasty, and this past order I kept it simple, and added a milkshake to try! The classic burger with cheese and the all American hotdog - you can't go wrong with either. I like to order both when I come here knowing I won't be able to finish it all. The quality is too good to skimp and order just a burger Or a hotdog. The chocolate Oreo milkshake though; wow! If you are one to think chick fil a's milkshakes are good, wait til you try Carolina Jax's milkshake. It's a treat. Definitely an upgrade! They have a good portion of various flavors to select from. Being that this was my first milkshake from Carolina Jax, I went with a classic I knew I would like. There were about 3-4 other flavors that stood out to me that I'll venture out of my comfort bubble and try another time.

Jeanine A.

Yelp
There was a line to get in when they opened at noon, but it moved super quickly. Based on the line, we knew it was gonna be good! Actually, I knew it was gonna be good because they used to have a food truck that would come to my neighborhood periodically and I became hooked!! The good news to report is the brick and mortar is just as good, if not better!! We each got burgers but I Don't remember the name of mine. Mine had guacamole and bacon and other goodness, my friend just got the classic burger, either way they were so good! Exactly what I had been dreaming about! The edges of the meat were kind of crispy, that whole flat top goodness moment, and the buns were soft and tender. The whole thing was delicious, the real stand out, however were the onion rings! Piled high, very crispy, very airy coating, and the sauce is kind of like the outback sauce from the blooming onion, but I thought it was better. It could be exactly the same but the combination of the way they do their onion rings with that sauce was so good highly highly highly recommend. The only drawback to the place is the seats are super uncomfortable so if you're looking for a spot to kind of hang out and chitchat, it's not the place, but if you're looking for a place to eat really good food, it's definitely the place!

Yelp
A staple in downtown adjacent Jax, IMO. Great burgers, wide menu options at an accessible location. Every visit has been met with fast/fresh food, friendly staff and a growing menu of ttreats to try.

Kathryn G.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! I kept seeing Carolina Jax pop up as a highly recommended restaurant in Jax and I had to try it out for myself. I stopped by on a Saturday at 11:45am and it filled up super fast! Parking is a bit of a struggle, but we found a spot in the 2 hour parking area around the corner. The restaurant itself feels comfortable and classic, like a neighborhood burger shop should (with plenty of plaques of their awards on the walls!). I was happy to be warmly welcomed by the cashier and loved seeing into the kitchen to see how fast they worked to get food out! It was great. We waited no more than 10 minutes. I had the Bacon Cheddar Burger ($10) and devoured it. I'm craving it again just thinking about it! And the Onion Rings ($6)....don't even get me started. Perfectly crisp and the right amount of batter - plus the sauce on the side was perfect with them! So so good. My boyfriend tried the Mountain Fries ($13) which he doctored up to have a different sauce than what is usually on there. They were also yummy and he really enjoyed them! I have already told my friends about Carolina Jax and cannot wait to be back!

Danny B.

Yelp
Hands down, one of the best burgers I've ever had. I got the Hurricane Burger, which is a double patty smash burger, with Mac n cheese and jalapeños. Okay, that sounds heavy, but to be honest, when you're done eating it, it doesn't feel heavy at all. Delicious and feels like you're eating something light, how many times can you say that about eating a burger before? Some of the best smash burgers around!

Adair R.

Yelp
Don't waste anymore time looking for a great burger, come to Carolina Jax! Hands down top 3 burger joints in the city!! The menu offers a wide array of specialty burgers topped with anything and everything you could imagine. They have smashburgers that meet all the expectations: crispy sides, thin patties, melty cheese and perfect onions/toppings. Their classic burgers are a great start but I highly recommend a specialty burger and loaded fries. If you order loaded fries, be ready to share them because they are a hefty portion that could serve as a meal themselves. I ordered the fried onion smash burger and Jax fries and after eating my entire burger and only a portion of the fries I was worthless the rest of the day. I was very pleased, full and in a food coma for hours after my meal. I will continue to choose Carolina Jax when I want a tasty, filling meal!

Renae D.

Yelp
Three stars for the wait alone. At first impression it seemed like a quick in & out kind of thing. We were very wrong. A lot ordered after us in person & left before us. Our food was good. It's a Good burger. Cajun ranch was good that we got with our Jax fries. The fries were just basic loaded fries. I will note my burger was extremely messy. Almost like they just threw it together.

Denzell M.

Yelp
Carolina Jax serves up some of the best burgers in Jacksonville. The patties are juicy and flavorful, and the creative toppings, like pimento cheese or fried green tomatoes, elevate each bite. Their fries are well-seasoned, and the milkshakes are rich and satisfying. It's a cozy spot with a relaxed vibe, but parking can be tricky.

Michael S.

Yelp
I wish I could give this burgers more than 5 stars! They are simply delicious and I doubt there are any better in town. These are smash style burgers combined with very creative toppings. The Riverside had a Key lime date aoli with goat cheese and an orange marmalade which was absolutely out of this world. Can wait to try all the other combinations they have (meaning I'll probably be back this week). The fries were really good, but still longs way of probably being the best fries in town.

S D.

Yelp
The food is immaculate. and the customer service is great. The large proportions you get for your money is awesome.

Chris C.

Yelp
Carolina Jax was recommended to us by a Nurse who works here in Riverside. It did not disappoint. The menu is a variety of burgers, fry baskets, and hot dogs, with some grilled chicken and Philly steaks for good measure. You order at the counter and seat yourself. We had the Classic Burger and Snowbird (chili) Dog, with fries. The burger was juicy without being greasy, with fresh crisp vegetables. The fries were thick and well-cooked overall, with any erring to the side of undercooked. A touch crispier and they would have been perfect. We were offered a choice of either house or Cajun seasoning and went with the house - a light dusting of a tasty seasoned salt. The Snowbird Special chili dog was tasty - a good 1/4 lb dog with a tasty beef chili, cheese sauce and fresh onions. My only complaint is the dog and toppings easily overwhelmed the roll it was served on. It would be substantially improved if the roll were longer and had some texture to its crust. The cheese sauce is easy, but makes for a sloppy presentation. It would be amazing with finely shredded cheddar. We didn't have a chance to sample their milkshakes, fry baskets, or other sides like onion rings and sweet potato fries. Vegetarians have some options here, but vegans need not apply. The only other warning is they have Pepsi products, with sweet/unsweetened tea, Cheerwine and Subborn sodas added. You may need to bring your own Coke. The ambiance is basic burger diner, with a dozen indoor tables - but outdoor seating is where it's at. Great little quiet intersection. Parking is available, but it's Riverside. Be prepared to hunt. Overall, if you're in the area I recommend it.

Laura A.

Yelp
Best smash burgers in Riverside! Great flavor combinations, cooked perfectly and delicious brioche bun. We have ordered carryout since moving here but this was our first time dining in. Since it was raining on and off outside, we wanted to sit inside. The restaurant was packed but we were lucky enough to grab the last two top on the far wall. Ordering at the counter took a bit longer due to the many calls coming in for takeout orders. We filled our fountain drinks and waited for our food to be prepared. My husband loved every delicious bite of his hurricane burger and I snagged a couple of bites of the creamy Mac n cheese that fell off his burger. I love a good mushroom Swiss burger and the Black Mountain does not disappoint. It did not need the mayo and I will leave that off next time, but everything else was perfect. I loved the fries, they were crispy and not greasy. The onion rings were good too. Great local place with yummy food and dining options inside and out (weather permitting).

Leticia C.

Yelp
Great burger spot. Fries are great ..a variety to choose from along with burgers. I always choose classic burger with roasted poblano Mayo with Swiss cheese on the burger. You can never go wrong with ordering from here.

Rushie B.

Yelp
Just when I thought Jacksonville (JaX) didn't have anything to offer a foodie like me, Carolina JAX proved me wrong. Every time I visited my mom the food options were either really bad or mediocre. But in June 2023, I decided to give Carolina JAX a shot after seeing its high ratings and enticing photos on a food app. I ordered their special, the Hurricane, without knowing it had Mac and all the toppings. And oh boy, just the Cajun fries alone were enough to tell me that this place was worth the trip. On my second visit earlier this year, I brought my daughter, who used to work at Shake Shack, and she loved it too. Coming from California, known for its great burgers (with places like In-N-Out and Easy Street), Carolina JAX blew our expectations out of the water. The flavor and quality here are consistently impressive. Food: Hurricane: 5/5 This burger includes mac & cheese and has a bit of a spicy kick. It was an absolute delight. Chicken Philly: 4.5/5 A close runner-up in terms of flavor and satisfaction. ONX: 5/5 Another standout that exceeded expectations. Chicken Sandwich: 4/5 Solid choice, but not quite as memorable as the others. Cajun Fries: 4.3/5 Flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Onion Rings: 4.5/5 Crispy and delicious, hitting the spot. Service: Carolina JAX always seems to be busy, so ordering ahead is a smart move to avoid a wait. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the place maintains a high level of cleanliness, which is always a plus. This is my go-to spot every time I visit my mom in Jacksonville. No In-N-Out, Shake Shack, or Smashburger spot in LA can compare to the cravings I have for Carolina JAX. Every visit leaves me looking forward to the next one.

Yelp
Walked in and the place was fairly busy at around 2 on a Saturday. I waited in line and placed my order in less than five minutes. The hurricane burger and cajun fries came out fresh and quick. I gotta say, this is in my top five burgers of all time. The ingredients are all fresh and cooked to perfection. The jalapeños were grilled but still had a crunch. The bun was so soft and just wow. Not soggy at all. The bun was the best I've ever eaten in my life. Ample meat hanging out the sides to taste before diving in too. The fries were sold as a light seasoning and I am glad it was wrong. There was heavy cajun seasoning and it was completely mild in heat but bold in flavor. Don't expect a Slap Yo Momma thing here. Nonetheless, I tried to eat them all and failed. The only thing that didn't win me over with this Hurricane burger was the Mac and cheese. Compared to all the flavors that complimented this burger, the m&c came through blandly and really just added a texture I could have lived without. I will 1000% be returning to Carolina Jax sooner than later. I have to try everything on the menu now. This is one spot that's definitely worth the higher priced items.

Cherie S.

Yelp
Walked into this little charming establishment amd loved the asthetics. Cute, simple, and inviting. I had read a lot of reviews about this spot and baayyyby...delicious eveeything come thru! Yes I ordered a Riverside Burger and baby the goat cheese and bacon and all the yummy flavors were sooo good. My husband ordered the burger with Blue cheese; his was good but mine was better. We also had the onion rings and some loaded fries. Unfortunately our eyes were bigger than our mouths and we had to leave some of it..alot of it. Lol. The customer service was outstanding and they made sure to walk around and clean the restaurant. Im going here again soon.

Aaron S.

Yelp
10/10, no notes! I think I've found the perfect burger! Seriously! The folks at Carolina Jax are killing it with the juiciest Angus beef burger I've ever had in Jacksonville. And judging by the crowd who packed the joint on the Saturday night I went there, I can readily understand why. I would have included a photo or two but my hunger demanded satisfaction. I left sucking on the perfect vanilla shake in memory of a most fulfilling meal. I WILL RETURN!

Shelbie A.

Yelp
Great food! It was really busy but worth the wait 100%. We did an online pick up and they were able to locate our food easily, packed it really well, and it was kept in a food warmer while they waited on us to pick it up

Candy E.

Yelp
This place is the real deal! So many unique flavors to choose from! I love a good cheeseburger and theirs hits the spot! Fries are good too! Gotta have my ranch on the side for them! The service is pretty fast and cool little atmosphere. If I stayed closer I would be a regular! Great place!

Rachel T.

Yelp
We visited Carolina Jax while my parents were in town visiting and wanted burgers before heading to the airport for their flight home. I always had Carolina Jax top of mind for being the best burger spot, but as someone who does not eat meat, I never really considered visiting. First impression- parking is tricky. We parked on the side of the building then saw the sign not to park in front of the next door business, so I moved a block down. We arrived at 5 pm on a weekday, and by 5:30 the whole place was packed with people! I was excited and surprised to see that they offered a beyond meat patty for only a $2 upcharge. I went with the classic (American cheese, classic sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle on toasted white bun with a beyond burger) for $11. We added a basket of fries for $7 with pink sauce ($1 more). I thought it was good, but my family that ate the real burgers especially enjoyed their meals. I was eyeing up the key lime pie milkshake, so will definitely keep that in mind for next time. The women's bathroom is hot pink with a giant picture of a pig on the wall, and it made me laugh when I opened the door. The inside was clean and comfortable. The tables filled up quick, so get there early. Thank you for accommodating a vegetarian at a burger spot!

Katherine C.

Yelp
Was at 5 Points for an event and looking for somewhere new to eat for lunch-good thing I turned on my YELP app and got me to Carolina Jax as I have always wanted to try them out. Got the Hurricane Burger- for $13 White American Cheese, grilled Jalapeños, crumbed bacon, Chipotle sauce on a toasted Brioche bun. Ordered the Jax style loaded fries $10 and is loaded with Cheddar Jack cheese, applewood smoked bacon, sour cream and green onion. It was very delicious and was not able to finish and will be lunch for tomorrow. The staff was very nice and polite. The ambiance was very casual, everybody seemed to look like they were enjoying the food and company.Parking was easy and so is the ordering process. Will definitely be back here to try other Hamburgers as this was a really good experience!

Arturo P.

Yelp
Definitely best burger locally. You get what you pay for $$$. Recommend going there with a good appetite

Amber G.

Yelp
This place is fabulous for BBQ. We got the mountain fries. They were exactly what a BBQ place should serve for loaded French fries! The service was fast especially if you order ahead. Super yummy! 10/10 recommend. We will be back!

Joseph S.

Yelp
Maybe the best burger joint in Jax, if I lived closer I'd go every week. They know what they're doing

Whitney S.

Yelp
I wanted to love this more than I actually did. I got the tarheel and my pulled pork was cold and the assembly of my burger made it hard to eat handheld. I will say the garlic parm fries were 10/10. Overall, uniquness and flavor were amazing but delivery left me wanting more. I would still give it one more try.

Don J.

Yelp
Been coming to this killer burger joint since food truck days. These burgers are a next level creation. I don't eat beef anymore, but only make an exception to Carolina Jax. It's my once a month spot. Thanks for doing what yall do. Wish Yelp would let me give them a 10 star review!

Laura G.

Yelp
After reading all of the great reviews about the certified angus beef burgers at Carolina Jax I had to give them a try. I ordered the simple classic burger and loved it. It's made with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion and their special sauce. I thought that the special sauce was good but I would have preferred ketchup and mustard in place of it. The french fries were good and served hot but the onion rings seemed to be a convenience food product. Service is great and the restaurant was clean.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Burgers were very good - be aware that the signature sauce is mayo based if that's not your jam. Shake was also delish. 2 recommendations if you go - plan for a potentially 30 min wait (they are moving, just customer volume) or order via Uber eats for pickup (don't try and call in Regardless of what the website suggests, they are too busy to manage the phones). I'm not salty about the wait piece bc I didn't know and didn't get a chance to research them - it was a location necessity.

Haden J.

Yelp
Good service and even though fresh they are fast! We had burgers duh and fries. I had the Mountain burger and Cajun fries Flavorful - a little greasy but I didn't mind. Fries could have been crispier but they were delish! My little had a plain burger and enjoyed every bite. Needed her own fries! I appreciate the soda choices: classic cream soda, cheerwine soda, and root beers are all my treat favorites. Prices are great for the value - we will be back. We took video but will take pics next time and maybe even get a shake. I want to try the datil chocolate!

Diana R.

Yelp
Love everything that I've had from Carolina Jax but the riverside burger and the duval dog are my favs. Sweet potato fries are also bangin. 10/10 recommend.

Daryl A.

Yelp
WOW!!! I experienced and AWESOME Beyond Burger from Carolina Jax. This was my first time and enjoyed my meal.

John C.

Yelp
READ THIS REVIEW----- Best In JAX Awesome! Total hole-in-the-wall, a small place with a cool atmosphere when you walk in. It's nothing fancy and it screams, "I let my food do all the talking!" And it did. There is a reason this place is an award winning and Channel 4's best burger place in Jax. I agree. Ashley was at the front counter, is super friendly and a great way to start the day! I ordered a single burger, onion rings and chocolate shake which was $23. Not cheap but totally worth it. (100% angus beef.) Chocolate milk shake was perfect. Thick and creamy. You can taste the quality - vanilla ice cream and chocolate in harmony. Super big straw let's you get a big mouth full - regular straws won't work. (Very smart!) Beer batter onion rings were nice and they made them crunchy for me. I give them an 8 out of 10. (These are good, I'm just partial to a different batter.) My burger was really good. The beef is cooked on a hot seasoned flat grill to a perfect med-well, moist (not greasy), slightly charred the way I like it, about 1/4 in thick (normal and not too thin), and it hung off the sides of the bun. It's a generous size patty and tasted really good. Lots of options for toppings. My bacon was quality and perfectly cooked - crispy, no white fat and not burnt. Lettuce was whole leaf and fresh. Skip all the chain places like BurgerFi, M Shack, 5 Guys, etc.... this place blows them away! It's a 20 min drive for me, and I'll be back in a heartbeat. Steady flow of families with kids the entire time I was there. Packed and a line by the time I left. Go! Go! Go! Overall experience = 10 out of 10. Spread the word! No

Yelp
We came to Jacksonville for a weekend and stumbled upon this restaurant! I immediately checked Yelp and told My husband make a u-turn! Now please don't come here expecting your food immediately, but the wait is worth it! Our food came out HOT, Fresh and very well seasoned! I do not consume any red meat so when I saw that they offered chicken and other options for non meat eaters, I was happy.. My chicken was the BOMB! Well seasoned and carefully grilled.. the Fries were great too! For drinks we opted for fountain drinks, however there are other options available! Their sweet tea is bomb too!! Oh one more important part, their customer service was excellent too! Glad we stopped by!

Yelp
Couldn't get the sweet potato fries ordered as I like them, without added sugar. No idea why that's so hard. Instead was charged for a separate order of a basket of fries. Did they really think the portion that comes with the burger was not enough for me? Aside from the overcharge and inability to make a simple change to french fries toppings, the taste was stellar.

Yelp
I can never complain about Carolina Jax. Every single time my wife and I stop there it's always perfect. The customer service is always great and you are always greeted. You never have to wait long even though the food is cooked fresh. I don't work for nor do I get paid to review. This place is just a work of art for burgers.

Yelp
5 star burgers. Seriously! A few people in our group had been here before and were saying great things about the food. I ordered a hamburger with mustard and pickles with a side of sweet potato fries. Good portion sizes. The sweet potato fries were delicious and the burger was soooo good. Idk how many locations there are, but they definitely need more around the city. That's how good the food is. Wouldn't mind stopping by again next time I'm visiting.

Yelp
This hidden duval jewel is an amazing burger spot that are thick and full of flavor. The service is good nice staff and are willing to help you and explain the to first timer. The ambiance is a lil small but room for the soul it gives off a small mom and pops vibes as if you are on your own episode of bobs burgers. Great spot will be coming back again

Yelp
The Tar Heel burger is all that. Every good review of that burger is true. And at $12 for all that's on it, I'd say that's a good value. $4 for fries on the other hand is questionable when the options on the menu for a tiny cup of some sort of dipping sauce is an additional $1, and the dining room floor only has ketchup in French's packets as if this was a Costco or gas station. As for service, I can't necessarily say there was any service, other than the person who took my order behind the counter. Kind of like a fast food restaurant. And confusingly, there is no menu over the counter to read other than the few specials, but there is the kind of menu you would have at your table to read and then someone takes your order. That's weird. Despite it being dinner service time on a week night, the dining room was not full, but the floor was pretty messy. My table had food in the chair food on the floor around it, and there were literally napkins peppered all over the place. If this place is going to be strictly counter service (kinda like a Five Guys), ditch the laminated menus and put the menu over the counter so the customer can come in and read it. With the laminated menus, people come to the counter thinking they're going to find a menu to look at but wind up having to grab one and then loiter right next to a dining table. Secondly, if this place is going to charge what it charges for the burgers (which are worth it, it was very good), and then mark the fries up as high as they do, AND ask me for a tip to boot, at least put some real ketchup on the dining room floor. Ketchup packets are a cheap work around. I spent $30 (after tip) and still farted around with stupid packets... that is kind of messed up.

Yelp
So happy we found this little burger joint! It's a walk in and place your order, then grab your drink and find a seat kinda place. They will call your name when your order is ready. The burgers are excellent, we ordered three different types and they were cooked perfectly and juicy too! Their secret sauce is yummy. The buns were toasted. I ordered mine on a bed of lettuce since I don't eat bread and they were very accommodating since that's not on the menu. We also ordered a large loaded fry with cheese and bacon to share. Carolina Jax has a cute interior with some seating outside as well. The only suggestion we all had was the need for higher quality napkins! When eating a big juicy burger and loaded fries, it gets messy and the napkins here are thin and honestly worthless. If you are in the area Carolina Jax is a great place for a fantastic burger and delicious fries. They also make milk shakes that looked yummy!

Yelp
A great local burger spot in Riverside, Jacksonville. The beef is juicy. Portions are pretty big for the price. The vanilla milkshake is awesome! Parking can be a little tricky especially during peak times which is lunch since it's right across from St. Vincent's Hospital. Spacious seating inside.

Yelp
What a great burger in a sweet spot in Riverside! A little gem in a beautiful neighborhood of historic grand homes with easy parking and cool ambiance. The large windows, high ceilings and fun signage make you feel at home in this cozy neighborhood stop. We enjoyed every bite of our juicy burgers, staff was friendly and patient as we perused the menu and all the various choices. They also offer a yummy variety of shakes and floats. If you want total satisfaction, eat here and you'll probably have to skip your next meal. Love the place, the people and the food!

Yelp
Had the TarHeel Burger. It was outstanding! My sister had the Riverside Burger and was raving about the unique flavors of datil and marmalade. It looked so delicious that I just had to order one for myself and ate one, too. Yes, I ate two burgers! The sweet potatoes fries are a generous portion. Could easily share or not, if you've got a hearty appetite. The buttery sweet cinnamon drizzle they put on top is amazing. Pro Tip: Make sure you have plenty of napkins before sitting down to eat. I kind of wished they had a roll of paper towels/napkins at the table. Between the sweet potato fries drizzle, BBQ sauce of the TarHeel, and the magnificent toppings of the Riverside, I had to make a couple trips to the condiment stand where the single sheet napkin dispensers are kept. I'll be back! Those burgers are fantastic! Can't wait to try a new unique burger creation!

Yelp
BEST BURGER IN JACKSONVILLE. The Riverside burger is simply a work of art. You do not devour such a delicious gem, you savor each bite, becoming more dreadful as the burger slowly fades away. The onion rings were on point. Based on the genuine effort put into their craft and the demand of their food, I'll be returning very soon.
