My Singular Obsession with Carrabba’s Chicken Bryan | Bon Appétit

"A beloved neighborhood spot for one regular family, where staff know customers by name, accommodate requests for extra sauce, and inspire deep loyalty—so much so that a patron famously went into labor there and later preferred the restaurant’s takeout over a hospital meal. Longtime diners praise the Chicken Bryan as “the best ever,” crediting the simple grill seasoning and the rough-cut fresh basil for its balanced savory, citrusy, and slightly sweet profile; other favorites include Sicilian chicken soup, salads, and the chocolate dream dessert. The location’s warm, personal rapport with regulars and tradition-oriented menu choices are central to its appeal." - ByAlex Beggs

Great service and peaceful atmosphere, clean . Didn't have to wait to be seated, however, I'm giving only 4 stars because the pasta was not cooked al dente, the flavor was good, but a good pasta has to be served al dente

Google
This was a disappointing experience. We should've looked at the reviews before walking over from our hotel, because my husband had placed his order for pizza, but the waiter (who was polite and accommodating) said that the oven was broke. He chose not to order anything else. He actually enjoyed watching the cooking staff behind the glass framing. It was comical, let's just say that. I ordered a chicken alfredo dish, and yes, I compared this dish to Olive Garden's, and was brought on a plate, not a deep plate (who serves pasta on a plate?), oh, Carabba's because there wasn't hardly any sauce that could run off. The sauce that was presnet was liquidy with not much flavor, and actually made a good glue for the pasta that had to have been sitting under the heatlamp a little too long. Oh, and I had a side of too-salty lentil soup. Big disappointment from my standpoint for a simple pasta dish. Our son's penne mac'n'cheese was okay by his standards, but again, for a high-end-ish establishment this place puts themselves, was nothing more than a plate of stiff penne pasta mixed in with some sort of cheese that again looked like it had sat at the headlamp area a while. A "John Cole" dessert (1 scoop of vanilla ice cream, with caramel sauce and a couple candied pecans) was ordered. Again, nothing special, and overpriced. I should've said it was his birthday to have the overpriced item complimentary?! Sorry, but we won't be back, nor would we recommend this place.

Update July 2025. I knocked off a star from my last review. We had the Calamari appetizer, the Chicken Bryan, the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. My wife had a glass of a mid-grade Sauvignon Blanc ($16 - ouch). Starting with the complementary bread - it was lifeless. Dry, bland, too much like an off the shelf unsatisfying piece of white bread. The Calamari was crisp but the pieces were small, dry and reminded me of eating potato chips. Didn’t taste or look fresh. My Chicken Bryan was quite bold ($26). The breast was small. The lemon butter sauce was overpowering. Too heavy with lemon. The soft goat cheese served over the breast was quite tart. If you enjoy dishes with dominant sauces, you’ll like this. It was too much for me. My wife enjoyed her Caesar salad. To me it looked very over dressed, as was my house side salad. Service was good. Entrees were served hot and the salads were served cold. I’ll sum it up by saying that I was underwhelmed. Pics attached. My wife and I met two friends here for dinner who are regulars and highly recommended this Carrabba's. Their recommendation was spot-on. I ordered the Tuscan Grilled Chicken and my wife had the Shrimp and Scallop Spiedino. Both dishes were superb. I'm a passionate high level cook in my spare time and frequently entertain friends and family, so I'm aware of what quality food prep and presentation is all about and we were not disappointed with our selections. Pricing was very reasonable, especially the $3 draft Stella Artois that was on the happy hour line up. I had a Caesar Salad side, and my wife had the lentil soup. The salad was served perfectly chilled. The lentil soup was bold and flavorful. But, this review is not so much about the food and the pricing - as important as those things are in a restaurant of course - but more about the service. It was above and beyond, and not just be our server, but by everyone on staff that we encountered, including on the way out as we were leaving. We felt like we were special. And that is so hard to do in a sincere genuine way, but this Carrabba's has nailed it.

Google
Hard to gauge.. food was fine ..not warm and sat under the lights. Food took 45 min then they told us we had to order something else.. no mashed potatoes, no sausage for rigatoni, and out of lasagne... The staff were lovely... Lindsay was sweet and trying hard.. the manager made it work

Google
My husband and I had a wonderful time at this location. Our bartender Sarah , was excellent! She suggested a great wine and some good dishes, and was so friendly, we would recommend dining with her and at this location. The food was fresh too. But Sarah was the best part. thanks to her for our great date night.

Molly M.

Google
The food came out with a horible odor. The rigatoni pasta I ordered smelled identical to vomit. This is not an exaggeration. When we brought the issue up to our server they responded promptly and went to the manager. The server then returned to the table to let us know that it smelled that way because “that’s just what fennel seeds smell like”. I did not eat the pasta because I thought it was a food safety hazard. I would not recommend anyone eat here.

Angila T.

Google
The food was absolutely terrible. We spent $170 for 4 glasses of wine on happy hour, 1 appetizer on happy hour and two entrees, and even had a $10 off coupon. This place has gone down hill bad. I’m not sure what is going on, but do yourself a favor and eat at Longhorn instead. Absolutely absurd pricing and there were two people working tonight, the bartender was a great server but was totally understaffed and overwhelmed. We will never return.

Richard H.

Google
This place used to be my go-to for Italian. The food is fine. But the service has become worse and worse every time. Ordering to go or pick up is an absolute waste of time and money. If you don't have a menu item you refund the customer not argue over some substitutions or 10 dollar incentive BS cards. That's not a refund. That's theft!!!

Yelp
Hadn't been here before, but got a gift card, so we went to check it out. This location was a bit old and could use a good cleaning, but nice enough. Our booth was so tight, I wasn't sure I was going to make it out after I ate. Waiter was prompt and a little manic, but attentive and had good recommendations. We went with a couple of the combo options, the classic and one offering steak Marsala. Salads were good, just a little different dressings, so make sure to ask about ingredients, so you end up with something you like. The fresh bread is amazing, so definitely ask for more and enjoy. Our meals were quite good, with more of a grill vibe than the traditional Italian home cooking other places offer. The prices are a bit more, but we felt the food quality and flavors merited the cost. Overall, a good experience, flavorful food and solid service.

Yelp
The wait staff top notch the food was a disappointment very bland and generic. It tasted old and left over

Yelp
Review update: Today is Sunday, August 11th at 12:10pm. Decided to check out Carrabba's in Fort Collins again for lunch and give it a second chance. The first time we ate here, it wasn't a good experience for my wife, daughter and I. I only gave it a 2 star review. The managing partner name Bobby reached out to me about my first experience at Carrabba's. He was very apologetic and gave me $60 dollars credit coupon and asked me to give Carrabba's a second chance. So, here we are again..... We arrived during lunch time at 12:10pm. Again, the restaurant was dead. This time, our wait staff is Rafaella. She greeted us as soon as we arrived and walked us to our table. Rafaella was very friendly, smiley, polite and very professional. She was very attentive and made sure everything was okay with us. Great customer service from Rafaella. 5 star service. This time, my daughter and I ordered the Carrabba's classic Trio. The cost of this dish is $27.00. It comes with Chicken Parmesan, Meat Lasagna and Fettuccine Alfredo pasta. See pictures attached. Both my daughter and I agreed that it was very tasty and delicious. We both enjoyed our food this time. The only disappointment was the portion size of the food. The meat lasagna is a very small bite size portion. The chicken Parmesan is very thin(chicken breast sliced in half) and the fettuccine Alfredo pasta is just a small scoop portion. For the amount of portion, this dish was over priced for $27.00. But like I said, they were very tasty and delicious. Will we come back to this restaurant for the 3rd time? Probably! With that being said, i will give this one a 4 star. I would have given it a 5 star review but we were disappointed with the amount of portion of the food. The Carrabba's classic Trio dish is not worth $27.00. I'd say it was worth $15.00, in my opinion

Yelp
The never ending entree is so my fav I'm old so I get on average 4 meals out of these 2, being on a fixed income and with this administrations policies we have to cut corners where we can!!' So every week I have Olive Garden so good and healthy becuz salad included!! Win Win thank u OG

Yelp
We were greeted and sat right away The restaurant was clean Our server was awesome! He hit all menu points, told us the specials and everything! I believe his name was John The food was good, I love the bread, its fluffy with a crispy crust. The salads are bomb, only feedback I have on the food is the sauce consistency is a little watery.

Best Yelper Ever X.

Yelp
Food was okay. The service was immaculate! Our waitress, Raphie, was the most attentive, kind, and caring sever I have ever experienced. She took time to answer all of our questions and gave incredible menu suggestions. We all left with huge smiles on our faces! I hope she's our server if we decide to come back. 7 gold stars to her!

Hector S.

Yelp
Great Italian Food at a good price. Happy Hour Calabrian wings are awesome as well! The Chicken Trio is my favorite! Ask for freshly shredded cheese on everything and make sure to try the Caesar Salad.

Mady G.

Yelp
We called ahead and were seated at a table. We sat patiently for 20 minutes and were completely ignored. Every server walked passed our table and didn't even blink an eye. No waters NOTHING! Thank you for ruining what was supposed to be my special Mother's Day dinner with my husband and children. You lost our business entirely
google avatar

Jeremie J.

Yelp
They show you happy hour menu and price but will charge full price on tab. This is the second time I've had this happen at Fort Collins restaurant.

John K.

Yelp
Best Italian Food in Northern Colorado! Great Service as well. I still love the ambiance but they may want to think about a remodel in the next couple of years. I would love the patio if it were located on the other side of the building. My only complaint is that the servers don't offer the fresh grated cheese anymore unless you ask.
google avatar

Frank M.

Yelp
We get takeout after a long drive to Fort Collins. The caprese salad and the seafood pasta, with crusty bread, hits the spot. Good friendly service makes this a great end of the trip and the location near the hotel makes this perfect.

Andrew S.

Yelp
I don't often write reviews, so if I do then you've done something extraordinary or extraordinarily bad. In this case it was the latter. We went tonight and should have probably just left as it was so empty on a Friday night. Never a good sign for a restaurant. But it was close to our hotel so we got seated and ordered. This was a mistake. For somewhere so empty, it took OVER AN HOUR to get our food. Two of those food items were a kids' spaghetti and a pizza, which should take about 5 minutes to make at an Italian restaurant. My wife had salmon, which was undercooked and inedible. I had ravioli, which was passable. The "cooks" seemed more interested in talking to each other than cooking anything. Or waitress had to ask them several times about our meal and they seemed to think it was funny more than anything. How you can take so incredibly long to make a meal and still not cook it enough I don't know. We weren't even offered a credit for the undercooked salmon. They did offer to remake it, but we didn't have another hour to waste as we needed to get our kids to bed. This was one of the most horrible places I've ever eaten at. I still tipped the waitress normally as I don't think it was her fault, but I really hope she doesn't have to share it with the cooks. We will never be back and recommend that nobody else goes.
google avatar

Raquel V.

Yelp
If 0 was an option, I'd pick that. I don't know a single manager that believes in not leading your team to success. But apparently leadership isn't required here. Food is mediocre at best, that is after you wait an hour for it to arrive. They ran out of lettuce and when addressed, well they didn't really care. AVOID. You'll get better service literally anywhere else.
google avatar

Tony Y.

Yelp
My daughter wanted plain pasta. Too many places can't do that. Carrabba's got it right.
google avatar

Dill D.

Yelp
My wife and I just moved from the PNW and wanted to try some Fort Collins Italian food. I wish we knew before the mistake we were making. Upon arriving we were sat in a back corner by a flashing ceiling light, nothing a nice adult beverage can't solve, right ? Wrong. Because My ID wasn't a horizontal Colorado ID I could not order a drink according to the waitress. The staff was off putting, it was a "Italian" ambiance with one direction and Taylor swift playing in the back ground. The food was awful , I hate to say but the bread and olive oil was the best part. My appetizer came burnt, the romaine in my salad was red, and my wife's meal looked like it has jimmy deans breakfast sausage on top. The environment was mostly old folks. Don't recommend

Jill W.

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed a birthday celebration at Carrabba's. The food was delicious and our server, John provided excellent service!
google avatar

Jeni O.

Yelp
Forgot to take pics because the food was just so good! Mezzaluna - is the best! JJ absolutely loves this, ate the whole plate clean Filet Mignon - super foot and keto friendly! Love this option Vodka Shrimp Pasta - Zack said really good flavor Chicken with prosciutto - wade and Zane said good flavor but salty

Yelp
This is from the perspective of a door dash pick up. Never been to carrabas and was not sure where to enter at. You do enter the door that says delivery and then look to see if your order there. However that space is extremely small and the staff seemed slightly annoyed by my prescence. I get they were busy but i had not been in there before. Just was wondering if I was in the right spot. They told me i had to go wait outside and they would bring it to me. It was a good 10 minutes or so until the food was ready to go. That was a bit of a bummer since i had other obligations, needed to pick up my daughter. Thought it would be a in and out like most restaurants when doing pick up. Now i now. The restaurant seemed nice though and they were obviously busy with pick up and in person orders. Glad to see some businesses are doing okay.
google avatar

Brianna R.

Yelp
Thank you for fixing my food order! I had a terrible inconvenience of someone stealing my food, and they went ahead and made my meal for me 3 times over. So thankful for the kindness and cooperation from these individuals and establishment! Thank you truly!

Karin B.

Yelp
It was fine, good portions, food was ok. Service was quite good. It was really late when we left, I felt bad, but then seemed to be pushing us out
google avatar

Lan D.

Yelp
Nothing of note. Service slow ambiance quiet. Been there a long time. Not much improvement.
google avatar

Ray K.

Yelp
Great Italian dishes with excellent service. Really enjoy the chicken piccata with some pasta. For sides get the parmesan salad so refreshing and light. The chicken soup is so full of taste and great tasting chicken pieces.

Michael W.

Yelp
Expectation versus reality. Need I say more? Most certainly not worth $25. The quality was off, arrived cold, visibly not what I paid for.
google avatar

Lindsey S.

Yelp
Fillet and shrimp pasta was tasty, although the first fillet they brought out was very overcooked so they brought me a new one. The waitress must have checked on us 10 times throughout dinner, which was a bit too much. The food ended up giving me stomach issues later on though, so I can't give a good review.

Anissa M.

Yelp
The service was terrible, we waited 20 minutes to get our drinks and bread, that we had to ask for. We also waited 2 hrs and never got our food after continuously asking when our food would come out. We were brushed off by our waitress, a hostess, and the manager. We were given a $20 gift card after we wasted 3 hours of our day there while all the customers that had GOOD waitresses were happy and got their food in a timely manner. This was the absolute worse experience I have ever had.

Christina M.

Yelp
This place continues to go down hill. Waiting an 45 minutes for salad. Food is basic. The restaurant needs repair and is very aged. Gave this place a third chance and will not be back. We gladly tell our friends to steer clear
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
Carrabba's is a large chain restraunt similar to Olive Garden. I prefer the flavor at Carrabba's. This particular location is becoming a little dated and could use a renovation. Overall, good experience and good food on a quiet Saturday night.

Vince F.

Yelp
Food was mediocre, cold and sent it back but luckily it was returned luke warm. Bread was stale, service was slow. The carpet was filthy so along with not investing in decent cooks, properly working ovens and enough wait staff they must not have any money in their budget to hire a carpet cleaning company. This place has gone down hill and we won't be back
google avatar

El B.

Yelp
John was the best server we have ever had!!! me and my husband and lovely daughter came here and we absolutely loved it! service was very very very good our server (John) was amazing one of the nicest people I have ever met! THE FOOD IS AMAZING SO DELICIOUS! I would 10000000000000% recommend going here!

Adrien K.

Yelp
Sad to say Carrabba's has gone downhill. I ordered curbside, nowhere to park, so I went in. The hostess completely ignored me standing right there in front of the hostess stand. No one was in the curbside pickup area. So, I went over to the kitchen where I saw a few to go bags waiting to see if I could just grab my food before it got cold. So, that's what I did. The food was mediocre and the salad was horrible, half of the lettuce was brown so we had to throw away. Not worth the $70 spend!
google avatar

Kelsey F.

Yelp
Customer service was not friendly. I ordered online and they called to say a gluten option couldn't be accommodated so they made the decision to alter it before they talked to me. When I asked if they already started or if I could order something different the woman responded, "uhhhhh we already started" not a big deal but then I go to curbside pick up and called to say I was there (no sign said not to call upon arrival...) they answered and hung up on me 3 times then brought it out. I asked if everything was gluten free and she said "yup." And walked away. I get being busy but don't be rude when you're in customer service please. On top of that, the food made me SO sick. We got chicken Parmesan and even with the accommodations I was "glutened" ....would not recommend if you're gluten free

Emilee P.

Yelp
Julianna was our server and she was the kindest, friendliest server I have ever had. She was fast, hard working, and had fun conversation! We will be back again, especially to see her!!!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Tasted like authentic Italian which is not what I normally expect from a chain restaurant. Delicious food and excellent service. Wait staff was engaged and exemplified a team effort. Very impressive!

Chuck H.

Yelp
Four of us had dinner there yesterday. We had eaten there several times before and it was good food. Yesterday none of us liked our meal. I will only speak for my meal. The first clue was when I tried to cut my ribeye, the house supplied knife would not cut it, it kept getting hung up in gristle. It was a chore cutting up the meat, and a chore chewing it. I brought half the steak home to give to my dog. I know this was the hardest to eat ribeye I have ever had. Most likely we will never return.

Mark G.

Yelp
Went to Carrabba's last evening with another couple for my wife's birthday. What a disappointment. None of our meals were satisfactory, to say the least. The food was not good, but our server John was excellent.
google avatar

Shaunna S.

Yelp
Pretty solid for a chain Italian place. Food is generally reliable, service can be spotty at this one though. Their Tuscan grilled chicken is yummy, and the Sicilian chicken soup. The lasagna is usually perfect and is more like two meals worth.
google avatar

Seth P.

Yelp
Update: the FOH manager reached out to me based on the online survey I did from my receipt apologized. At least someone cared later. Original review: Two stars because the service was good and my wife's food was fine. My ribeye was horrible. Two very large veins running across it and the flavor of the meat itself was very poor. They claimed it was a choice cut. I find that very hard to believe. It was cooked correctly at medium but I could only eat about half due to the veins and poor taste. They offered another one as if I had time for that or wanted to eat more of their horrible steak. $70 dinner that was worse than "steak" from a fast casual. I was super excited to see they had a new ribeye on the menu and I couldn't have been more disappointed. I won't be back to pay good money for bad food.
google avatar

Kayla C.

Yelp
Our food is always made with fresh ingredients, from the salad, soup, pastas and cheesecake! We seemed to be amazed every time we go. The staff is very friendly and has just the right amount of energy. Great service! Highly recommend! (The building seems to be a little dated, but understand it's going to have face lift soon)

Aidan C.

Yelp
The food that this place serves is really good, but the prices have become unbelievable. We always get the family chicken parm, but that is now almost 70 bucks! Sure, it is a lot of food, but 70 bucks is way too much.
google avatar

N R.

Yelp
Was here this past weekend. Never going back to this location. Omg!! Had their bread, pastas, desserts and drinks just to have our stomach upset and diarrhea after we left. Bread were fresh and hot. Though the desserts didn't look very fresh as in it's been sitting out for a long time. Was an extremely disappointed experience.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Did I really just pay over 20$ for this? Placed an order before 9 & they CALL us and say get here before we close the doors at 9:30pm. Aren't you closed by 10pm? Anyway the food was a joke, the portions were a joke, & I'm very disappointed in the lack of professionalism. Won't ever recommend or be back.
google avatar

Judy H.

Yelp
Do not order the veal piccata unless you love salt. Apparently the meat is heavily salted to try to tenderize it, but that did not work, because the meat is tough. Hard to believe it is actually veal. Also, the capers should be rinsed before using. Otherwise, the sauce is not bad. The service was great.

Jim D.

Yelp
I've been coming here LITERALLY since I was 3, and from what I've experienced, the quality of food, atmosphere, and overall experience hasn't changed a bit. They've beat COVID, they've survived, and that's due to the know-how of their chefs and serving food that's actually amazing to eat (unlike certain "Italian" restaurants who serve lots of 6 hour-old breadsticks.) Carrabba's bread, wonderful Salad, perfect Italian sodas, amazing Mezzaluna.... I've yet to have it anywhere and it be better Staff was friendly and inviting, waitstaff was just perfect. (My one complaint (there was a single song on the radio that was modern. Gross. Other than that, the music is traditional and perfect) Go Carrabba's, Go!
google avatar

Brandon G.

Yelp
I was a server at Carrabba's when I was in college. When I visited this location yesterday, I was kind of disappointed in the change of standards. My server was very friendly and helpful. But she never offered me any bread. I ordered the Chicken Bryan. It was excellent. But the size of the chicken breast was half the size of the serving that was that it used to be. And I could be wrong, and it may be regionally priced, but I don't remember that entree costing $20. Far too expensive for the quantity of food you receive. Not a great experience.
google avatar

Wendy M.

Yelp
I had a great experience tonight here. I came in 15 minutes before closing to order dessert to go. Another restaurant in town messed up my order and I didn't have much time before all the restaurants close for the night. The manager took care of me, and had dessert ready to go in just a few minutes and made our evening special. We even got bread and we were delighted. Thank you for the extra effort - we appreciate you!

Richard V.

Yelp
Great food, great service (Sierra). Was pleasantly surprised that it was this good and good s a chain. Really great steak. Pasta was good not great, mashed potatoes great, desert (cannolis) excellent.

Bull S.

Yelp
Ordered this last night and was surprised to receive spaghetti without sauce ? The pasta was cooked well and appeared to have about a tablespoon of sauce tossed in a 4 person family meal. The salad was great and mixed in with the pasta made for a surprisingly good combo. Flavor was on point , but the lack of sauce merits the score .
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
The two stars are for the service which was great! The food is another story. Unbelievably bad. $20 for a 2 ounce piece of shoe leather chicken and some broccoli. Pasta has no flavor, dry, seemed like it was sitting under a Sbarro heating lamp for 5 hours. Seriously disappointed in the taste and quality. Never would I have thought I would say that Olive Garden is superior to any Italian restaurant, but it certainly is compared to to garbage food.

Susan A.

Yelp
We used to love this place but over the last 2 years it's progressively gotten worse. Our food was extremely cold and my steak was so rare I had to ask for another one. Then the one they brought to me was cooked to the point it was like jerkey. We will not return to this restaurant anymore. It's obvious their cook staff has no clue on how to make anything.
