15 Meat and Threes Around Atlanta to Fill Your Plate Full of Southern Comfort

"Billed as the “best soul food in Powder Springs,” Carzell’s Kitchen is a small counter-service operation that packs a serious punch. The menu is not lacking in options for a meat and three, including proteins like chicken livers, pork chops, grilled whiting, and chop sirloin with gravy. Meats can come seasoned with salt and pepper, garlic, lemon pepper, or blackened. Choose two vegetable sides for your plate, including black-eyed peas, collards, fried okra, yams, or fried cabbage. The plate also comes with two cornbread muffins or a dinner roll. Like any good meat and three, there’s even a Southern vegetable plate. Make sure to order banana pudding for dessert or the peach cobbler, if it’s on special that day." - Sarra Sedghi

I Tried this place yesterday. Their Food was really good. Especially there Lemonade. It was better Than Chick-fil-A.... 🙂 And I Never Ever Say that about anywhere. The Ordering process was different. A Customer told me its a much better experience if you call in the order. I didn't know that. 🤔 I Wait a little time for thr food. But The Food was really good and hot. The CSR was good there too.

So first time trying this place and I'll say it's just OK. I had the wings with macaroni and collards. The first problem is I'm 100 % sure these are not fresh greens. I'm sure they are from a can, they taste like Margaret Holmes Greens. I eat collards all the time and I know the difference between canned collards and real ones. This macaroni and cheese was not good at all It tasted like box macaroni that they put some shredded cheese on top of. I couldn't eat it. The wings were great, loved the taste of the chicken. So overall I felt it was just OK. The price isn't too bad but I don't wanna pay fresh soul food prices for canned food. That chicken though... It's really good.

Was in the mood for country fried steak and checked out Carzell’s Kitchen in Powder Springs, only 4 miles from home. They were out so I asked for breaded chicken tenders over mashed potatoes (instead of rice) with gravy. Macaroni & cheese and collards as my two sides with cornbread muffins. Everything is seasoned absolutely perfectly, served hot and fresh. Also ordered off the Kids Menu shrimp & green beans with homemade lemonade & cornbread muffin for my grandson. This is Real Soul Comfort food. Generous portions, prepared fresh. A much better alternative to West Cobb Diner or Cracker Barrel in my opinion.

The food is awesome. Best soul food anywhere near powder springs. We had wings, pork chops, mac&cheese, mashed potatoes, rice&gravy, yams, and rolls! All of which were delicious. I’ve been there twice in the last 2days. But even more impressive than the food was the customer service i received. They forgot my yams and i didn’t realize until i got home. So i called and instead of just apologizing and Puting my name on the list to get when i ordered next time around. Carzell himself delivered the yams to my house stating “if he messed up the order he was going to fix it.” I was highly impressed and they have earned my business indefinitely!

After a generic "soul food" Google search, we came across this place. Best. Decision. Ever. The food is so delicious! We got Fried Shrimp and Country Fried Steak, both I would order again easily. To top it off, every single employee we spoke to was so genuinely kind. So many "thank you"s and "have a nice day"s. We even got to see them welcome an apparently regular customer by name! This place radiates the Southern Hospitality you want at a soul food restaurant.

I should have knew it was going to be problem I waited over 20 minutes and when I asked for a refill of my drink it was no. I had the pork chop dinner the chop was full of batter and fat with no taste the green was definitely canned Mac and cheese and yams was just trashed the little cornbread muffins 🤬just don’t waste your time or money with this place

Never again! I ordered the 2 pc whiting with mac& cheese. The fish tasted like it was fried in old grease. It was not crisp but greasy and soggy. Box mac & cheese taste better than the one I ordered from here. It was lumpy and gross. The peach cobbler was gross as well. Ended up throwing away all of that food, or the minor portions that were served. What a waste. Don't waste your time. I don't understand how they are a soul food place and stayed in business so long. These reviews can't know what real soul food looks like or tastes like.
