The 25 Best Restaurants & Bars In Santa Barbara

"Located on Lower State Street is Casa Comal, a small Mexican restaurant with a not-so-small menu (and a banging reggaeton playlist.) This order-at-the-counter spot does everything from sopes to tortas to ahi poke tostadas drizzled with chipotle mayo. But if you're overwhelmed by large menus, stick to the tacos. The octopus one is the best seller for a reason: the warm pulpo comes with roasted pasilla chiles, cilantro aioli, and a cheese-crusted tortilla that offers a satisfying crunch. The consomme-stained birria quesataco and the Baja fish taco with diced pineapple salsa are also must-trys, so please mix and match. " - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins, garrett snyder

**yummy Eats with Fresh Flavors** I dined here today and was both impressed and taken aback at how fresh the tortillas were. For $60, I got 4 fresh, homemade tortillas and a chicken and veggie bowl topped with freshly made guacamole. While the ingredients were clearly high quality and everything tasted fresh, the price felt a smidge on the high side... but I would definitely come back The flavors were on point—each bite showcasing the care that went into the preparation. If you’re looking for fresh, homemade food and don’t mind splurging, this place is worth trying. On point horchata too!

I have been here several times after I came for the first time and was blown away. I have been chasing my first experience but haven't been able to recreate anything close. My first time coming was greeted with an overworked owner, and one cook in the back, but they made us feel like family when we were there. They served us chips and salsa while we waited for our 3-each tacos. My favorite has always been the chicken mole. Their tortillas are homemade and KILLER! Best handmade tortillas in town, in my opinion. Their salsas are pretty good but definitely not the best in town. I haven't seen the owner working in probably a year, so not sure what happened... the food is consistently good but never great. And the atmosphere is alright but it doesn't enhance your experience.

We went here right at openings time so we were able to get our food very quickly. We decided to order a chicken quesadilla and they gave us green salsa on the side that was very yummy. They also offer octopus tacos which I may decide to try next time!

Local shop on State St. Difficult to order if you do not speak Spanish. My son wanted tacos but came out with one with neat and cheese(?). Only customers there and it took a very long time for food to come out. Chips and guacamole that was supposed to be appetizer came out last. I don't know if I'd go back. Food was good, just not enough of an experience to bring me back.

My wife ordered the tortilla soup that comes with avocado, tomatoes, onions and cilantro....except they didn't include the avocado, tomatoes, onion and cilantro (they forgot to tell us they were out of it before we ordered). The other food might be good..just not the tortilla soup (without avocados, tomatoes, onions and cilantro)

I was there for lunch time. Very good quesadilla plate (choice of meet: carne asada), for $8,5. Quality is there! However still hungry after eating it. I would recommend to take an apetizer or a taco next to it ;)
