Casa de Montecristo Cigar Lounge & Bar

I would've taken pictures but I was too busy chilling with the patrons inside. This place is 100% for the people where you can sit down, get a decent stick for $15 bucks and drink some Guinness. The staff are also amazing

A great spot! I was in town visiting and stopped in here for a cigar. Super friendly and helpful staff who recommend a great cigar based on what I told them I liked. They asked me how I wanted it cut and they cut it like a pro then got me lit up. Great spot and I highly recommend whether you're in town visiting like me or a local.

This is a great shop and lounge. Staff was very welcoming and friendly/helpful. Selection is very good and the prices are quite reasonable. Beverages also available, lots of seating available. Very relaxing atmosphere. Enclosed "porch" allows for people watching. I've been to a lot of nice shops, and this is as nice as any I've been to. Way better than I expected to find in D.C. I could spend all day here.

I had an extremely disappointing experience as a customer dealing with Jesse, the manager. From the moment I interacted with him, it was clear he lacked basic customer service skills. He was unresponsive to my concerns regarding NO HEAT. Jesse's attitude was dismissive and unprofessional. Overall, my experience with Jesse left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer. It’s hard to imagine returning to a place where the management is so disconnected from customer satisfaction.

What an unexpected surprise. Initially plan B (after Shelly's was closed for Christmas Eve), Casa de Montecristo turned out to be a phenomenal spot for a cigar smoker. Great atmosphere, cigar humidor and spirit selection. Most importantly, the service by Robert and Jade (behind the bar) was outstanding. If you love cigars, put it in the rotation.

This is an amazing cigar bar. I'm a regular at Shelly's since I live close to it but the service, selection, vibe, and prices here are all superior to Shelly's in my opinion. You'll save at least $10 a stick here compared to Shelly's and Angel is a delight to walk you around and educate you on cigars. The clientele also seem really cool here. Since I work in Dupont Circle, I'm going to make this a regular stop after work.

Found this spot to relax after a long day of meetings. I have visited a Casa de Montecristo in Las Vegas and Countryside, IL. Entering the shop, the lounge chairs are situated outside in an in closed patio with flatscreens. Stepping inside there is a full bar to the left and on the right, a multi section humidor, ceiling to floor, filled with premium cigars. It was packed but comfortable. I found a high table, picked my cigar and ordered my drink. The prices were decent, crowd had a good vibe and the staff were cool. The inside was small and no lounge chairs inside but I enjoyed my time and would come back.

Casa de Montecristo has a dozen cigar bars throughout the nation. This is spacious. The staff are friendly. Unlike New York City, they serve alcohol. Some, no doubt, will be disapproving of the two vices that can be indulged here. For those who wish for either, or both, this is an excellent venue.

Absolutely first rate selection of cigars at incredible prices. This place is staffed with very polite and knowledgeable staff and is comfortable. You can sit at the long bar or a high top table; or you can go the front-facing enclosed patio which has both high and "normal" chairs and tables. This place should not be missed if you want a great place to purchase and smoke cigars.

My last day in DC I decided to stop by this awesome cigar lounge and kick back and relax. I'm from Florida so every place I travel I must visit a cigar lounge and I'm glad I stopped by this one. They have a very nice lounge downtown DC, staff is friendly, and a nice selection of cigars and full bar. I highly recommend this gem.

A friend and I were looking for a Cigar lounge after brunch and found this place, walkable from our restaurant. Sunday afternoon. Wasn't crowded. There are seating areas outside, and a bar and a few tables inside. Thankfully we found a high top table. The person who was helping us with the cigar, I can't think of his name, but was SUPER friendly and helpful. I don't typically smoke cigars so I told him I was a newbie and he recommended a cigar and the reason why. His name might've started with a K. Whoever, he was on July 16 @ 4pm, he deserves a promotion :p He cut our cigars for us and offered to light them, but my friend had their own cigar equipment :) Bartender was nice and helpful. No food, but full bar with wine & beer. There is also happy hour (see photos). Nice Ventilation system Members only area upstairs Bathroom for women contained one toilet. Large bathroom. Mouthwash also. Street parking but you could probably also find parking garages in the area

I travel to DC often for work and I always stop here. Usually I have a fantastic experience. This past time was a major disappointment! The bartender DJ was rude and weird. Customer service is not her strong suit at all! I will be back in DC soon and if I come in and she is there my colleagues and I will definitely not come in! Horrible experience!! I hope management really reads these messages , bc she is not a good look for the brand! Sincerely a concerned patron!

I had a wonderful time smoking a Camacho at this place. Staff is wonderful. The bartender was very friendly and makes great drinks. Good selection of cigars as well. I would strongly recommend this place if you are in town. Mouthwash in restroom is a nice touch.

Went to smoke a cigar wasn't a friendly atmosphere didn't feel comfortable . The cigar selection was good. The ventilation was fair. I will not go back to this cigar lounge.

There are few places to smoke indoors in DC, but Casa de Montecristo is a good one. In the district itself, there's Shelly's, Draper's (although I think you can't smoke inside Draper's anymore), Morton's, and then a handful of cigar shops (e.g. Signature Cigars on Wisconsin or Casa de Montecristo) as well as private clubs. They all have very different vibes. Casa de Montecristo is open to the public but also has a members-only area upstairs (I think ~$1500/year). I've seen in the other reviews that folks have had problems with service/staff. I have never had anything but exceptional service from the staff (specifically Casey, Jade, and Angel). They seem knowledgeable about cigars and are very helpful. This is a spot that has regulars but is equally open to newcomers. Fairly decent cigar selection, fast wifi, a rewards program (can't remember what the points conversion is, but it seems to amount to something like 5-10% off). Prices seem comparable to other places. A chill spot to come and hang, can put in headphones and work, or chat with the person smoking next to you. Definitely a good addition to the cigar scene in DC, and I have never had anything but a good experience here. Only suggestion would be to put seat/back cushions in the chairs on the outdoor patio to make them more confortable. Ventilation is good without being so strong that when you exhale it isn't as though you're blowing into wind (as it is in some places).

Such a nice vibe. The bar is stocked and the cigars are tasty. They help you pick out the perfect cigar based on ur taste buds.

I have no idea how this place has 4.5 stars. Good cigars, poor execution, careless bartenders. Asked for the cigar to be cut. Got a horrible chop job. Asked to sit upstairs in a comfy chair, and was rudely told that the area is for members only. Bartender promised to be right with us. As I'm right in front of their face, one is watching something on her phone and the other one ignoring us. God this place needs Blend. This is awful. The jug of bleach on the counter around food prep was icing on the cake.

Best cigar lounge in DC hands down! The team members there (bartender, checkout person, and general hosts) are exceptional and the cigar selection is incredible! Business meeting? Long day at the office? Friends and family in town? Bring them here for an amazing ambience and we'll crafted cocktails to go along with your favorite stogie kept at premium humidity and temp. A must go for any cigar lover in DC!

This is why I am giving it a one star. I am a cigar blogger, and have my cigar clubs both in Florida and New York- Carnegie Club is our spot. This place was on my bucket list. I called in advance, and asked if I could bring my own cigar and obviously buy cocktails, and I was told certainly. When I got there I inquired about the annual club, not a bad deal. Really good price and you get to enjoy an intimate place. However when the manager (big guy) was extremely rude saying I couldn't consume my own cigars, and made an off putting reference. Not a fan of that experience, shame on the management. I'll be taking my business, and club to Shellie's Backroom.

Sunday night , 2 cigar guys were on duty and one bartender. The cigar sommelier was attentive but not pesky, he left me alone to peruse the shop. Bought a cigar and a drink and headed upstairs to sit and smoke. Not a huge place but everything was comfortable. Would definately return.

Visiting DC for a conference. The closest cigar lounge was this place. It looks nice entering for a cigar and a drink. The cigar was as expected. This is where it ended as a nice place for an enjoyable evening. The bartender staff and or management is something needing major improvement. I would assume the day I visited is not reflective of the entire bar staff. Maybe the day I visited was just an anomaly of this particular day. Once I left and traveled to the next local cigar establishment, my spirits were lifted and realized I would not return on my next visit to the capital of the USA.

This was the first time I've been to a cigar shop / bar / house / room / whatever they're called. There's a VIP section upstairs, a bar, then a sunroom lounge area out front. Highly recommend. The people there were super helpful with the recommendations and made sure to check up on us. Grab yourself a modelo and a light cigar and enjoy.

Awesome lounge. Bar and plenty of seating inside and out. Members lounge upstairs is very nice too. DJ and Preston were the BEST! They were friendly and knowledgeable and we're looking forward to another visit. Forgot to take pics because we were enjoying ourselves so much! They have a good selection of cigars and accessories.

Humidor if this place has a great collection, service was great along with the indoor ventilation. Only has drinks. If you're only looking for a place to hang for smoke, definitely recommend

My girlfriend and I stopped by here last month during our drive down to Florida, and I cannot say enough good things about this place. Good cigar lounges are pretty difficult to find, so we were extremely lucky to come across it. First, the staff could not have been friendlier or more welcoming--especially Earl. He is a class act and exactly the kind of person you would want to run into at a place like this. He was exceptionally knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and a genuinely good guy. I'm actually typing this review from another cigar lounge (in Las Vegas), and my girlfriend and I both agreed that nothing compares to the level of service we received from Earl and everyone else at the DC location. If you are looking for great cigars and outstanding drinks in DC, definitely stop at this place. You will not be disappointed.

I suppose pretty much everyone else (except Curtis Draper) has the same problem, too, but the selection has been very disappointing here my last couple visits.

Absolutely fabulous cigar lounge in DC. Went to DC for a couple of days for embassy matters. The lounge was coincidentally close too my hotel. Great inventory, reasonably priced, good advice, perfect ambiance, cold draft beers and very cool people. A place where you want to go back, again and again!

I live here! Been a regular customer for years. Recently the menu has improved and the quality is superb. Recommend the steak burger, Cuban sandwich and PIZZA! Always made an excellent thin crust pizza. Plus cigars, how can you go wrong!

Super hip cigar bar located in Washington, DC. Although I am not a cigar fan, I visited with a friend who loves cigars. The place is well ventilated and the drinks are great. I suggest the patio for a a great time.

In town for a few days and I thought I'd check out a few lounges. For starters, the hostess was super friendly and attentive. They had a very good selection of sticks at decent prices. Their liquor/beer selection was decent as well. One complaint would be the ventilation. My eyes were watering from time to time due to the smoke settling in the area. Definitely needs an upgrade to their system. Food. Wish food was served. Definitely would recommend and will revisit.

Ahhh, yup..lol *pros Best filtration in DC, HUGE stogie selection with great pricing, Modern design, indoor/outdoor(inclosed)seating, on a secluded street at night so parking isn't a hassle. *cons $10 cut fee if you bring your own cigar, if you come hungry you'll leave hungry (they didn't take advantage of the kitchen of the previous *restaurant* business). Formally Bonfire, which was a short lived restaurant that I've had the opportunity to dine at a couple years ago, Monticristos is another cool spot for cigar heads to come, have smoke and relax. The beauty about this place is that they've invested in a high dollar ventilation system so that when their patrons leave they don't smell like the cigar they just enjoyed! Monticristos also has a VIP Members only upstairs lounge. It's pricey however if I lived closer I would strongly consider joining, seems like you get a lot for the money. This place as you can tell by my review has way more pros than cons which means they will be a regular on my play list!!

Great place to have a stick and relax. Situated in the heart of downtown DC and close to a slew of restaurants and other businesses. The staff is very knowledgeable and assist you as soon as you walk in the door. It's a great place for the cigar newbie and of course more seasoned veterans of cigars. They also have a huge selection of cigars as well as accessories such as humidors, lighters, humidity packs and cutters. The humidity control is spot on as the sticks are in great shape overall. There is also an open bar that serves alcoholic beverages. Parking is not good, however they are close to Metro transportation. There is plenty of seating either inside the area or in there enclosed outside lounge area with TV. All in all a nice place to have a smoke

My new hangout spot for a cigar and side car. First time coming here and I enjoyed my experience. The staff is very friendly and very helpful! I tried a new to be cigar called Moontrance which was bourbon and vanilla based. I enjoyed it so much. Go check this place out if you are in the area.

Hands down the best prices quality, selection and service. They aim to please. We have a box there and they are very accommodating. Everyone there is so professional.

Everyone was friendly great selection of cigars however the waiting list to be a member is over a yr+ for a opening also my husband wanted to get in the waiting list the manager never came back to take his information. We were very disappointed! We travels from Delaware to visit this spot!!

Went there as a an out of towner on business and was immediately helped, greeted and brought into the environment. Awesome selection, friendly staff and very welcoming all around.

I absolutely love this place! The cigar selection is amazing, the staff are extremely professional and I feel at ease when I come here. This is one do my favorite spots in the city. I have been here a few times during COVID and they have been extremely clean and have kept social distancing practices as well.

This is surely my go to spot. Excellent selection of cigars and libations. One of the best smoked old fashioned in the city. Everybody is so warm and welcoming. A must go. I have a weekly standing reservation. Just make sure you make a reservation! #ThanksCovid lol

great cigar lounge with vast selection of high-end, mid range and more budget friendly brands, with a knowledgeable and personable team. also their prices are comparable if not better than online cigar shops. plus i love the discount from buying sticks from my previous purchase. i went there Sunday afternoon and was assisted by DJ and Preston. they could not have been more helpful and pleasant. they searched high and low for a box of my favorite sticks which i appreciate. a good spot with knowledgeable and friendly folks.

my family and I spent this past weekend in DC. we bought the boxing fight and did not have a place to show it. the owner and employees welcomed us with open arms and spent some of their night helping us broadcast it on their TVs for free. i can talk enough about the service John, Charles and DJ gave us that night. when we come back and visit, we will be stopping back by! thank you guys so much!!

This place was nice! Stopped in with a friend on Saturday evening and we were greeted immediately. The vibe was very friendly and relaxing. The humidor had a wide variety of cigars to pick from. Service here was the best cigar service thus far. I highly recommend!

We came here to get a cigar for my boyfriend to celebrate his one year anniversary at work and his promotion and were incredibly pleased with the service and selection. They had a lounge in the back and were very particular about who could come in and out. They checked IDs and there was this one girl who just turned 21 a month earlier, but they had a strict rule that they would have to be born in early 1997 or something -- so they didn't let her in. People could feel differently about this but I was impressed with their commitment to principle and it made me trust the shop more. The guy working at the cashier desk was VERY knowledgeable and VERY helpful. We didn't know that much about cigars and he knew exactly what we would want. He also was so nice and cut it perfectly for us and taught us quite a bit about what to pay attention to if we are picking out a cigar in the future. I felt like I learned something valuable even though I would probably never smoke a cigar or buy one myself. I told my boyfriend he should use this opportunity to take advantage of all the knowledge he has access to with this man especially if he has a lot of questions he would want the answers to. So we had a pretty solid conversation with him and got a ton of questions answered. My boyfriend kind of went in having an idea of what he was looking for so we weren't in there for terribly long. I think it was so nice of him to cut it for us and try to save us money from buying a cutter which would get expensive. We will certainly be back next time we want to buy a cigar, and may just buy a cigar to come back.

First impression of this place was good, visually. Upon walking in, instead of smelling the beautiful sweet smell of tobacco I desired, I smelled one of the employees lunch who was eating next to the front door! Take it to the back room bro! Not a good look for a cigar shop. The shop had a great variety of smokes, and allot of the cool assortments that JR sells online. The woman working was very helpful and knowledgeable. The other staff looked a bit underdressed especially for a downtown location, the smoking lounge area was cluttered and sloppy, needed some work. Overall, I would definitely come here to buy some cigars, but wouldn't stay for a while.

This place is amazing. First off they have a huge selection of cigars for every price range. From Opus X to Padron 3000. Second. The staff is amazing. Michael, Niki and the rest of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and make anyone that walks through the door feel welcome. Finally their drink selection is huge. Blantons, Angels Envy and many other high end drinks. If you are in DC and want a great lounge to smoke cigars and make new friends check this place out

Very impressive cigar shop slash lounge, maybe the best I've been to anywhere. Staff is super knowledgable and professional. The shop is beautiful. Other retailers should take note on how they operate.

Came here while I was in town. It looks nice inside but not a lot of room to sit. Ended up going somewhere else that had room, food and the games on.
