"Casa Enrique is a Queens institution, and their crunchy fish tacos, spicy ceviche, and rich mole de Piaxtla are essential whenever you're in the mood for unfussy Mexican dishes. They also have seasonal watermelon margaritas, which you can drink around a big bar while watching soccer on TV. For a casual date night, sit at one of the white cafe tables in the spacious dining room. It’s a simple and timeless LIC spot that’s become one of our favorite places to eat over the years, and we don’t see that—or anything else about it—changing anytime soon." - neha talreja, bryan kim, hannah albertine, sonal shah, molly fitzpatrick
"A farm-to-table Mexican eatery on the property that functions as a late-breakfast destination (service extends until 2 p.m.), serving items like San Miguel eggs, chorizo and large fresh pastries alongside lunch and dinner offerings such as tapas, crudo, pasta and tostadas. The restaurant emphasizes local ingredients and culinary experiences: guests can take cooking classes with the hotel’s culinary team—often including a market visit and hands-on preparation of multiple courses—and enjoy patio dining tied to the hotel’s design-forward atmosphere." - Taylor McIntyre Taylor McIntyre Taylor McIntyre is a senior visual editor at Dotdash Meredith, working on Travel + Leisure and TripSavvy. "Located in an unassuming, low-slung building off of the main drag of LIC's bustling downtown, Casa Enrique makes one thing clear: it is all about the food. Chef Cosme Aguilar leveraged his passion for cooking cuisine from his native Chiapas, Mexico into a true accomplishment: a Michelin Star rating. Dishes are presented in an unpretentious manner, emphasizing freshness and boldness of the key ingredients. Though there were only a few vegetarian options, everyone found something delicious and satisfying. Recommended dishes: Doña Blanca, Ensalada de Betabel con Jicama, Chile Relleno, and the Rajas con crema." - MSLK
"This Long Island City restaurant made waves when it first opened in 2012, and everything from the ceviche to the chile relleno served in a little pool of mildly sweet sauce is still excellent there. Nowadays we find Casa Enrique more reliable than groundbreaking, but you can definitely count on this art gallery-like space for anything from an impressive date that doesn’t feel too formal, to a casual dinner at an outside table, with a couple of friends who appreciate good crab tostadas and ending a meal with tres leches cake." - willa moore, bryan kim, will hartman, neha talreja, carlo mantuano, sonal shah
"This Long Island City institution is beloved for the sweet, complex heat of their mole de piaxtla. At brunch, you can get it with chicken enchiladas or with eggs. Leave room for the excellent tres leches cake with goat’s milk caramel; one reason brunch is superior to breakfast is that it’s societally acceptable to order dessert. And also margaritas, available here in at least a dozen flavors." - bryan kim, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, sonal shah
