Casa Fina Mexican Restaurant & Cantina

We came in at 8:30, half an hour to closing. They had a huge party that was taking up half the restaurant so I imagine it had been a long night - but they didn’t hesitate to make us feel welcome. I tried to pay as soon as our food arrived to reassure them we wouldn’t linger and they told us not to hurry and that they would be open until 10 - though they most defiantly closed at 9. We had the Tri-enchiladas - or La Bandera - and they were to die for. The red sauce one was my favorite. The drinks are also very good and huge.

Authentic Mexican cuisine located in Boyle heights very delicious food I ordered the enchilada plate with rice and beans and shredded beef taquitos and chorizo Fundido shared amongst the group the enchiladas had the green sauce so tasty and the chicken paired with cheese was to die for my favorite was the fundido I love chorizo and cheese add a tortilla and I’m in heaven the service here is not to good had to keep asking for my drinks a few times and they were not attentive at all but other than that the atmosphere is great food is delicious I would recommend it if your near mariachi plaza or looking for the Fernando Valenzuela mural stop by casa fina

Wow it was delicious. But two things I don't like was that a person goes around asking if you want your picture taken for a small few. (Come on everyone has a cell phone I'll take my own pictures) The 2nd thing was parking.$5 Buck if you want to park your car in the back (very small) parking lot that's in the same building.

First time here. My family had been here before but we're a bit disappointed as some items were off the menu. Not sure if it was because we went for lunch and not dinner. Food was not bad, service was ok, seemed like they were rushing us out even though we kept ordering drinks. Nice decor, parking was a bit small.

Casa fine is a lovely place for any occasion or just simply have a nice lunch. Always beautiful, clean and delicious! The reason I’m taking off one star is because on my last visit for mother’s day we unfortunately had a terrible waiter, first he couldn’t answer questions, he didn’t seem to know anything. Second the forgot a couple of our drinks and we had to keep asking for them. And lastly he overcharged us by by something like $60.

I've heard great things about this place, so on Thursday since the weather was a little cooler I craved a chicken tortilla soup. This place is walking distance from the hospital I work at, when I got there the soup was already nicely wrapped with saran wrap, I asked for tortillas because I thought the soup came with tortillas. The owner said he would give me the tortillas and not charge me which I thought was very kind of him. Well when it was time to eat the soup I was VERY DISAPPOINTED THERE WAS NO CHICKEN IN THE SOUP!!! I got charged for broth and a few pieces of veggies. So I called the owner and told him that my chicken tortilla soup had NO CHICKEN IN IT, he told me to not write a review and for me to bring the soup back for a refund 😡. I didn't get an apology, that was enough for me to never go back to this place.

Quality food, they did not skimp out on the chicken in the taquitos. They use fresh ingredients. The service was excellent, super friendly staff. Drinks were well made. Highly recommend.

When you first walk in, you are greeted and it is very clean and nice inside. We were seated immediately and the servers were very attentive and nice. When we asked for something they came with it right away. Food was 10/10! Their red salsa is the best! Definitely going back Parking is hard because it's only street parking on a busy street.

Been coming here for a long time, family as well. Food and drinks, were great. A little disappointed, had dinner today, no chips no salsa, the portion size was small. The margarita glass small... I know inflation can hurt a lot of great restaurants. However when you jeopardize your food menu and drinks, it leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Just some food for thought, I'd rather pay a bit extra, just don't jeopardize your food and drink portion size. Always great customer service of course by all staff. Thank you

Um, 3 stars, "jus' burly". Casa Fina is situated on a busy stretch of 1st Street near the Mariachi Plaza. It's kind of a big boomy room that's always crowded, but I'm not quite sure why, as the food is nothing out of the ordinary. I feel generous giving them the 3 stars, given the ordinariness of the food. Not at all what I was expecting... Instead of chips and salsa, these days you get a really small portion of "sopa de fideo" (served with a teaspoon, lol) that's absolutely unmemorable. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas (2) and they were made with precooked shrimp, giving them a rubbery texture and making them hard to cut; the accompanying green sauce was also pretty ordinary; they had a sort of "pre-cooked" vibe and the tortillas were kinda rubbery, too. It came with the mound of rice, again, nothing memorable, and the stingiest portion of beans I've ever gotten in a Mexican restaurant, which were nothing out of the ordinary as well. My dinner companion had a salad with chicken that was pretty generous but nothing special, either. Wine pours are generous and they have a full bar, too. Service is friendly and attentive but the food isn't worth going out of your way for. Parking is a huge hassle, too; there's a small lot in back that usually ends up with people blocking you (if you score a space in the first place), and good luck trying to find street parking, 'cuz you're gonna need it. Really, why people rave about this place is beyond me; with the lackluster food and the parking challenges it's just not worth the trouble, given all the really good Mexican restaurants in L.A. I won't be back...

The Mexican burger was delicious! We also tried the molcajete and enchiladas they were yummy. The only downside was the atmosphere the music was too low, making it feel a bit awkward. Overall, good food. Service was great!

We were seated quick but waited over 20 minutes for our food which was weird because it wasn't crowded! Food was just ok. Nothing special or delicious...just good/ ok food. Service could have been better too. We were asked if we needed anything just once...I won't be going back.

My first time trying this place and it will not be my last time here! I had the mole poblano and it was excellent! They give you complimentary fideo soup which was very delicious! They should have that on the menu! They have a full bar menu and lots of beer to choose from. The service was grand. Ambiance is nice and chill with cool art and cool music while you enjoy the deliciousness. Chips and salsa are not complimentary. They cost $2 I think.

This place is so damn delicious! I had the mole enchiladas and they were delicious, just spicy enough to give it that little kick, juicy chicken inside and the beans were great! The waitress was so sweet and great at checking in on us and I wish I remembered her name. What was a really nice touch is that it was a Tuesday night and they had guys walking around taking requests for music. Such a great atmosphere. I'll definitely go back and try more of their food again, especially since it's so close to my house.

The food was good, we shared a few bites from all of our dishes. The service was super quick . We had numerous wait staff attend us and check on us. Very clean and polite over all place. Reasonable proices too.

This order was placed through DoorDash. The order was to consist of enchiladas suizas with chicken and cheese and a crispy shredded beef taco. Let's start off on a positive note. The crispy taco was pretty tasty except it was a tad over-fried. It was supposed to come with salsa in the taco but it came dry. This wasn't a problem as they sent a container of red and green salsa. The green salsa was , I didn't try the red salsa. Now for the enchiladas...I think we can all agree those are not green enchiladas. For those of you that don't know, enchiladas suizas come with a green sauce mixed with sour cream. Had they sent me enchiladas with just green sauce and not suizas, I could still enjoy my meal. But no, they sent me red sauce enchiladas! I HATE red sauce enchiladas. To top it off, they omitted the cheese and only sent me chicken. Did I take a bite? Yes, still hate red sauce. There is simply nothing positive for me to say regarding the enchiladas. Moving on to the rice and beans...the beans were decent enough to pass the bean vibe test. The rice, while not horrible, was more akin to Jasmine rice with some tomato sauce. This is definitely not your abuelita's Mexican rice. Casa Fina, I highly recommend your workers read orders because I waited close to two hours only to receive an order with items I did not order. That resulted in an unhappy hangry customer. The star of the show was the green salsa. Perhaps at a later point in time I will once again attempt to order what I wanted to try and see if the wheel of fortune actually grants me the items I ordered.

Had a chance to check out this place while attending an event with the State Assemblymen for his run on City Council. There is a covered outside seating area. Inside is 2 sections, the dining area has several round tables and chairs set up for 2-4 people. The other side has the bar and high tables and a couple of chairs. I ordered a couple of drinks; the house Margarita, Modelo, Cadillac Margarita and Don Julio Blanco. It was a packed house and the Bartenders were serving cocktails with a flow of easiness. Amazing job. Had a great time.

What a great find!!! We are definitely coming back here! Everything was so good; from the drinks to every dish that came out. The staff were attentive and cheerful. The place had such a great ambiance! For a moment, we all felt like we were on a mini vacation. Overall, what a great establishment. Bravo to the staff for the amazing service.

Today I visited Casa Fina! Happy that they were open on Labor day! Our waiter Isaias was great! He was helpful, pleasant and had great customer service. I loved that he knew the menu very well. I had no idea what to order and he made it easy as he recommended a dish ! The place is also very cute and pleasant . The only issue you might have is parking on a weekend , but it's worth it. Thank you for the delicious food! I'll be back for breakfast since today was dinner!

I had been here years ago for a birthday and wanted to give it another try! We came on a Saturday night during prime time and it was pretty crowded with lots of Holiday celebrations. There were big parties and couples enjoying a night out so a good ambience! Even though it was crowded we were greeted and sat right away. Food: 5/5 I had the shrimp bowl which was filing and had lots of taste. It had black beans, calabaza, red and green peppers, pico and guacamole. Very delicious and healthy! My partner had the carnitas and he enjoyed his meal so definitely a great dinner! The limonada wasn't special at all so would rate it a 3/5. Service: 4/5 from the valet in the back to the waiter they were straight to the point nothing extra or less. Our waiter came to check on us a couple of times might have been that they were spread thin. Ambiance: 4/5: They could use some music but it was nicely decorated and it was clean. This place was ok in my opinion it felt like it needs something more and it actually brought memories from the last time I was here that it was just ok.

We had planned for a different restaurant but ended up here. But it was a happy ending. We were a group of 8 people. The location of the restaurant is a little old area but once you enter. Authentic, ambiance, and the service will engulf you in happiness. If you just take the service, I will give ten . As just not the assigned one was attentive, everyone was amazing and was serving from their heart, and I felt like having dinner among family. They started with complimentary chips and their homemade green sauce. Wow, I can have it with everything. Both chips and the sauce were great. We ordered Veggie quesedilla, veggie burrito, chimchanga, pancho chilies releno, and The healthy. Fried plantain postre. All the dishes were to the mark. I will go here anytime.

Went for dinner with friends and we really enjoyed our overall experience as well as the food. The ambience is really nice, with Mexican art and great decor. I had the chile verde burrito, which was very good, flavorful and moist. Enjoyed it and would recommend it. JJ had the Mole Rojo con Pollo (Chicken Mole) consisting of traditional Mexican sauce with over 21 ingredients including peanuts and chocolate. He thoroughly enjoyed it and said it was delicious. Service was great and everyone in our party had a nice time. There is valet parking behind the restaurant (you can go east on First Street to State, turn right and then a quick right into the alley behind the restaurant). Street parking may be hard to find, as it is located in a busy business district near the Mariachi Plaza. Recommended!

Cool place, nice vibe, friendly staff. Lots of big parties having fun. Carnitas plate was fire, well seasoned and goes well with the hand-made tortillas. Beans were good but rice was hard. My other half had a shrimp veggie bowl which she seemed to enjoy cause she didn't say one word while eating. Would I say it's the best Mexican food I've ever had, well no but it's good and worth a shot. Had the Limonada Jack. It was ok, nothing special. Presentation was ehh. I wouldnt try that drink again. I would recommend this place for groups. I spent $55.19 for 2 with one cocktail. $5 valet parking. Go see for yourself.

We were looking for a place that will serve soup, it was cold and gloomy day so we wanted something delicious and warm. It was our first time in this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Food tasted amazing, freshly made and full of flavors.. I ordered albondiga (meatball) soup and my daughter got chicken tortilla soup. It was super delicious and had that homemade taste that we love, everything freshly done and prepared. We also got beef and chicken enchiladas, and carne with shrimp plate, Jamaica and horchata to drink - delicious. Service was fast and friendly, you give your order, pay at the counter and go choose a table. Once food was ready they call you. We loved the ambience, clean, traditional, well lit, with beautiful background music. We really enjoyed our lunch and will be coming back

A few years ago, I met this darling lady at a benefit, and she told me how much she loved going to Casa Fina with her bestie. I looked it up on Yelp and saved it in my bookmarks. I finally had the opportunity to stop in and check it out. Casa Fina is a family style Mexican restaurant with an authentic ambience that is highlighted by the colorful artwork on the walls. We sat at the bar and received a cheerful greeting from Alejandra. She was an absolute doll - very attentive with a wonderful personality. A Cadillac Margarita sounded good. I was bummed that I couldn't have one because they use bottled sour mix, so I ordered a vodka soda instead. It was stiff and hit the spot. Warm chips with Salsa Verde arrived quickly. The chips were warm and the Salsa Verde was mild and tasty. PIC ordered the Ranchera Carne Asada, which came with rice, beans, & tortillas. The presentation was nice. The tortillas are made in house and are as fresh as can be. We requested flour but received corn by mistake. However, they were delicious so I can only imagine how yummy the flour must be. The beans were good and the rice was moist & fluffy. Alejandra brought us Salsa Roja, which was spicy and had a nice flavor. PIC was happy with his entrée and said the asada was tender & juicy. The dishes are a bit pricey but you're paying for the quality. The staff are friendly and efficient and make you feel welcomed. Second time at Casa Fina, this time celebrating my husband's bday. Service was just as fast and friendly as our first visit. Tasty chips and salsa, hard not to eat them all and get full before the food arrives. You know how it goes! We tried a couple of their new cocktails: -The Flor De Pera (1800 Tequila Blanco, fresh pear juice, lemon juice, agave, and pear liquer -Antiquado (Sierra Norte Black Corn Mexican Whiskey, Aztec chocolate bitters, angostura bitters, turbinado cane sugar, and maraschino cherry) Both drinks had great depth of flavor. But the presentation is what stole the show. The Flor De Pera was served under a glass enclosure containing a smoky element and the Antiquado was served in a mini treasure chest with the charred smoke that added another layer of delicious to the cocktail. Our dinner hit the spot and was delicious and filling. We are kind of touring the menu so we've had salads, tacos, and carne asada plates. Satisfying every time. No complaints. The decor is eye catching with a mix of dia de los muertos and mexican art. The bar area has a TV playing whatever games are on (Let's Go Dodgers!) and the music is never too loud. We've sat in the bar area with other families both visits and we were able to enjoy our dinner with pleasant conversation without having to yell at eachother. Great family style restaurant in the heart of Boyle Heights!

Found this restuarant on Tiktok and decided to try it. Food was decent. My enchiladas werent anything special but were good. Chips and salsa were fresh and good. My jamaica margarita was very sour and not sweet like I expected. Very big cup but not great. The waitress was very nice. Decor is also very pretty.

Backside to restaurant is beautiful and perfect for pictures. Red salsa is tasty and has a good kick to it. My molcajete I wish was better served considering the price for the item. The salsa on this molcajete was the best! I wish I had more food to enjoy this sizzling sauce though.... Ordered several tortilla orders since these came with only a few on each order. We are Mexican, you should know better...lol Service was not bad but not the greatest either. Any request would delay so much where they were no loner necessary (Tortillas.) Alcohol drinks were not all that great either as were flavorless and not strong enough.

A gem in Boyle Heights. Awesome little place, looks big from outside but inside very cozy. Service was top notch and the food,well, let's just say I will definitely be back again but with friends, super delicious! Come check it out you won't be disappointed

Beautiful space with plenty of seating. I've been here several times and have always had a great experience. Strong margaritas and tasty food. They have a small parking lot in the back but street parking is available as well

Was not able to reserve anything at this place, even after calling all week, tried several days and at several hours of the day and nothing just kept on ringing. I don't understand why they would have a number on their website and they won't even pick up. Disappointed, I am unable to take my sister here for her birthday.

It's was a great experience, Ambience was nice. Service was great, food was awesome. I had the Mole Enchiladas I did have to ask for extra tortillas to finish that mole sauce. Gracias por su servicio I por buena comida. Thank you Enjoy. Don't forget to tip.

Casa Fina is just the perfect Mexican eatery. It has a full bar and amazing looking drinks--so pretty. It has a large dinning room with wonderful art and murals. It is just stunning to see. The seating is comfortable and the service is just great. We have been twice now and it is a real treat. The prices are fine dinning prices so get ready for that, but it is all worth it and they do have several items for patrons who have to stick to a budget --the tacos are great. They have the best food. the beans and rice are tasty but just traditional Mexican fare, good, not special. What is special are their main courses. They have the best fish cooked to perfection and some covered with amazing mole sauce. I just love any of their shrimp dishes, be they cold or grilled. Their fajitas, which I usually find boring and bland are filled with flavor and never overcooked. Parking is easy in their lot behind the building. The building itself is so very pretty and once you walk in you will be happy and relaxed. It is a great place so try it.

The food was great. Real authentic Mexican food. The staff was very nice and attentive. Only downside which is a big one and will keep me from going back is all the soliciting. We had one guy come take 100 pictures of us then try to sell them to us for $20 each. A band that was pretty rude and tried pushing us to pay for a song 3 times. A different musician that came by once. And a flower lady. I get that everyone's trying to make a living, but I'm trying to enjoy a nice dinner with my family

I'll get straight to the point! I have heard it a thousand times, you do not go to a Mexican restaurant to order a burger! Well when visiting Casa Fina you have to order the Mexican Burger! The ortega chiles, fresh avocado slices, panela cheese and the fire chipotle sauce !!!! Man this is a solid 10/10 burger for not being a burger joint! Service is always at 100 here the staff definitely understands the assignment and customer service! I mean come on excellent customer service, Mexican Burger and a Michelada!!!! What else can you ask for?

Have not been here since college so thought I'd check it out for lunch. Surprisingly it has kept a lot of the charm I remember. Also lots of local artists work had a good vibe. Free parking in back also a plus. Walked in and was greeted and seated immediately. Chips and salsa followed. Thin and crispy with a nice green salsa. Good start. Quite an extensive menu so had to go with the baseline two crispy beef tacos. Beans were smooth and silky with melted cheese. Good thing it was in a bowl. Rice was neatly shaped by a bowl. The tacos were well constructed the shell light and crispy and packed with shredded beef and topped with jack cheese which I love. 9/10 I will definitely return and try dishes with the beans. For me the comfort food that resonated with my palette. Maybe just a bowl of beans and cheese with some toasted bread or a bean and cheese with green sauce!

Ambiance is nice. It's decorated with paintings from local artists. The food is good and the service is good too.

Parking is tough We got lucky and found a spot in there small parking lot in the back Ambiance is nice They celebrated my wife birthday and all that matters is that she had a good time

STOPPED SERVING CHIPS & SALSA .... I love this restaurant and was coming every week ... But now I have to find somewhere else - They stopped serving chips and salsa... WTF ??? - If that's their idea of cost cutting it's terrible - Please change it back and I can give 5 stars all day long.

I Heard about Casa Fina through a friend, went for the breakfast and it was good, lots of variety and had their cafe de olla, hard to find coffee, good. The ambiance is really nice with paintings on the wall from local artists, even the Muralist who did the Ohtani and Valenzuela murals, pretty cool. Its a definite stop again when I'm in Boyle Heights. They also do military discount which is rare nowadays so I appreciate them for that.

Food was amazing ! Has the combination fajitas and it came with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and homemade tortillas ! It was absolutely amazing and the flavor was to die for. I also got the sunrise cocktail which was on the sweeter side and yes it was blended. Tortilla soup appetizers and chips with salsa for the table as well. The service was also very top notch! They were so helpful and on top of everything. They checked in with us and topped off the chips and dip whenever we ran out. The restaurant itself was well decorated and absolutely beautiful. They had local artists artwork as display and for sale which is so beautiful. They had local musician coming and going throughout our stay performing for the restaurant. HIGH RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ! I will definitely be returning.

This is my Mexican mom's go to place when she visits the LA area. We tend to stop before enjoying a show at CASA 0101. We had the shrimp burrito, pozole and asada torta. Shrimp burrito was filled with nicely grilled shrimp, cooked perfectly with cabbage and a light chipotle sauce- it was filling but not heavy. The pozole had tender meat with all the typical accompaniments, cilantro, onion, etc. The asada torta was in a soft bun, great comfort option. Customer service was spot on, very attentive crew. The artwork adds the to chill vibe throughout the restaurant -adding a proud cultural component to the ambiance. A lime with my Pacifico, less sugar in the horchata and more pulp than liquid in the salsa would add value to the experience.

The parking situation is beyond the control of the owners of this timeless Fine House. The only way to park is to utilize the service of one of their conscientious, caring and friendly valets, because the lot is so small.

I'm very disappointed as this is my 2nd time here and was not what it use to be, for one they no longer have mariachi on Sunday, then they no lovey serve chips and salsa I mean what mexican restaurant don't serve cups and salsa not even tostadas, then now they give you this mini mush soup which was the saltiest thing I ever tasted. It wad not busy at all yet we waited 45 min for 2 plates which the chimichanga was salty my mole enchiladas were very dry I'm very disappointed to day the least oh and they over charged me when I saw the price in menu I told them had I not remembered I would've paid more for this salty meal , I will not be back!

Great service, cozy ambience... the food was not as good. I go to Mexican restaurant and I had this thing where i order the same thing all the time which is cheese enchilada... The cheese enchilada here , with red sauce is not that good for my taste.. maybe because I don't really like Mole sauce. That's the only thing I can say about this place that is bad. Everything else is good, the service amazing, the chips and salsa was yum. Bean and cheese burrito I heard from people I went with was good but again they said the red sauce was not good. It tasted like "seafood" aroma and taste. We will come back here but maybe for drinks and chips.. we will see.

The chips and salsa were good! The salsa was super garlicky, more than anywhere I've every been. But luckily, I love garlic! I really wish they would ditch their plating style. The way they portion out the beans and rice is wack. I wish they'd just give you more of this and not be so sparing of a cheap side dish. The chicken on both my enchilada and taco were dry and tough. I had to put effort into cutting my chicken mole enchilada with a fork! If it wasn't for the mole sauce, which was amazing, this dish and dinner would have been a farce! I don't understand why the chicken isn't more tender and flavorful. The margarita was top notch! I would come back for that, for sure! And the service is basic. Just ask for what you need. There's always some watching to take care of you. Everything was clean and I would come back to find the food items that sing at this cute place!

Haven't been in awhile called for that express lunch to go It was not express at all and on top of that online it said $10 I was charged $12 in person I didn't make a big deal because it was just $2 but then I get home and I get a cold soggy burnt torta I just threw it away super disappointed

We had lunch today and everything was amazing!! The al pastor tacos were so good, I've been thinking about them all day. Service was impeccable; they were kind and attentive. The venue is beautiful with breathtaking art adorning the walls. I can't wait to come back to try dinner and breakfast!!
