Casa Gianna Restaurant Opens in Downtown Miami - Eater Miami

"Casa Gianna, which opened yesterday inside the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences at Miami Worldcenter, marks the first dining venture for the newly launched hotel with its 9,000-square-foot space that transforms from cafe to full-fledged restaurant and cocktail destination as the day progresses. Executive chef David Caceres, formerly of Mayfair Grill, helms the kitchen, where house-made plates of pasta and pizzas anchor the menu. The pastas include pappardelle alla rosa de ricotta bathed in brown butter sage and short rib fagottini with parmesan sauce. A custom pizza oven turns out pies like the ai funghi e tartufata topped with black truffle cream, grana padano, and mushrooms. The seafood selection offers dishes like pistachio-crusted Chilean sea bass served alongside tomato puttanesca. The restaurant’s layout, designed by New York-based Laseu Studio, updates the classic Italian trattoria with modern touches. The main dining room features high ceilings, layered custom lighting, and wood accents, while a 360-degree bar extends into an outdoor terrace for alfresco dining. Drawing inspiration from Miami’s ubiquitous Cuban ventanitas (window service counters), the restaurant also features Café Gianna, a walk-up window offering Italian pastries and espresso in the mornings. The bar program leans heavily on Italian spirits and aperitivos, with cocktails like the Sunset in Sicily with amaretto, orange juice, and Aperol and a Tuscan mule made with vodka, limoncello, and ginger beer. An extensive Italian wine list and daily aperitivo hour are also in place to catch pre- and post-game crowds from the nearby Kaseya Center. The restaurant joins Miami Worldcenter’s growing roster of restaurants, with more on the horizon: Bodega Taqueria y Tequila and two additional restaurants at the Gale Hotel will open in early 2025. Casa Gianna serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily at 601 NE First Avenue. It plans to roll out nightly programming and entertainment in the coming months." - Olee Fowler

Casa Gianna is an absolutely vibey & gorgeous space. The food was great and we left stuffed with leftovers which doesn't happen often. We tried a variety of items from the menu and each item was playful and interesting. The reason I'm rating lower is because the service was REALLY slow. The restaurant wasn't packed and it still took a moderate amount of time for our server to come back around. Now let me say she was great when she was actually there, but for the pricing of the food I was hoping the service would match, but it definitely didn't. Beyond that, while the food was great and filling, I just wish the items had come out a little sooner. Each item (that was meant to be served hot) came out lukewarm like it had been sitting for a while.

Every aspect of the dining experience was elevated. From the beautifully designed restaurant with a huge feature bar that opens to the outdoor dining. The starters were perfect. Our table was a large outing so we got to try everything. My main dish was the Fagotelli which had short rib filling and was exquisite. The desserts were amazing as well. All of the staff from the hostess, servers, bartenders and the line (including the chef who greeted us) were fabulous hosts and helpful with our choices.

The ambience was incredible and so was the service! The food tasted good and the presentation was great. Overall, it was a great experience and I would surely come back for apps and a good mocktail.

Google
Gorgeous venue with elegant decor and nice service.. though we were there on Tuesday nite the place was rather empty literally just 2 other tables were occupied. Aperol was on point😎 Now food ..have to say we were all unsure of the frito mix as it looked like it was fried in very used oil. I wanted to return it but didn’t want to start off in this way. I ordered the burrata special and it was ok it really needed some sort of toast to go with it as it was rather dry. Grilled chicken was rather bland thank goodness there a lemon and honestly even the cut was not pretty to look at. It was a chunky piece of breast making it hard to enjoy. Pastas were good and chicken parmigiana, Prices are reasonable not sure if I would go back it does look like nice place for brunch outside so might give it another chance.

Google
Came for a quick dinner because I was in the area and this place did not disappoint! We got the burrata as a starter and penne vodka and the waygu steak with a side of broccolini (forgot to snap a picture of that) as our entree! I would recommend this spot and would visit again!

If you’re looking for a restaurant that slaps, look no further than Casa Gianna. This place isn’t just serving dinner; it’s serving an experience that punches above its weight in every way. From the moment you walk in, you’re hit with a cool vibe of modern Italian elegance with just the right touch of Miami edge. The energy is upbeat but intimate, the music is on point, and the space feels good. Now, let’s talk food, mamma mia. The handmade pastas are pure art, rich, silky, and perfectly al dente. The truffle cacio e Pepe was Insane. The Pollo allla Pargiana is a knockout. And don’t sleep on the appetizers. The tuna tartar is next-level flavor magic. The cocktail program is tight, bold, and creative without trying too hard. And the wine list? Curated like a love letter to Italy with some bold global surprises thrown in. But here’s the authentic secret sauce, the service. Mary was fantastic and the rest of the team at Casa Gianna is genuinely dialed in. They make you feel like family without the clichés, very attentive, knowledgeable, and cool. You can tell they’re proud of what they do, and it shows in every dish, every pour, every detail. Whether you’re posting up for a power dinner, date night, or just vibing out with good friends over unforgettable food, Casa Gianna delivers the goods and then some. It’s not just one of the best new spots in Downtown… It’s setting the bar.

Google
Went during “Apperitiff time” , which is their happy hour and was very good with only one exception. Starting with the good. Milana was great! Super nice, friendly and good in attention to details. Their Margaritas are excellent and great beer selection. Happy hour wines are not good, however, the Nebiollo from the menu was excellent. The star of the night was the Pappardelle a la Rosa de Ricotta! stellar! The roasted brocollini were amazing as well. The big disappointment was Happy Hour pizza. It is horrible, so small (not even a kids pizza is that small). In the menu it doesnt say that it is a smaller version and for $11 (regular size is $21) it is truly an insult. pls remove the pizza’s from the happy hour menu because it was so embarrasing that I didnt take a pic. It really ruined the experience.

Delicious food and a warm, welcoming vibe. Peter, our server, was fantastic—so friendly and attentive. Great spot with beautiful decor and a cozy terrace!

Yelp
I have been excited to try this place since its new to the downtown neighborhood. It has a charming patio with a lot of seating, an outdoor bar, and inside seating. We chose outside because of the cool weather. We started off with the meatballs, which were dry. I wish we would've done a salad instead. We also didn't get any bread until we asked for it (I feel like you should just bring it out). Our waiter/bartender was super nice and created a mocktail for me despite none on the menu. I'm very thankful they did as we're participating in dry January. As for the spicy rigatoni, it was the second best part of our meal. The flavor and portions are great! I have to say the best part was the tiramisu. Wow! It was perfectly made and had a beautiful presentation. I will definitely come back for these two items!

Yelp
It's giving elevated Olive Garden. While the patio seating and general restaurant is nice, service was incredibly slow and food was disappointing. Maybe we came at an off time (4:30 on a Sunday). They don't serve their dinner menu until 5pm so we ordered salads and drinks to start. For dinner we got 3 pastas, they were not coursed well and 2 of them came out cold. All of the pastas were overcooked. The pesto lacked any flavor and the spicy rigatoni was not the slightest spicy. Maybe I'd come back for their Caesar salad and drinks, but not the pastas that's for sure.

Yelp
I came to Casa Gianna for dinner on a Saturday night, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. From start to finish, the service and food left much to be desired. We waited an unreasonably long time just to be attended to, and once we finally placed our order, it took an astonishing hour and a half for the food to arrive. During that time, our server never came by to apologize for the delay or check if we needed anything, which made the situation even more frustrating. When the food finally arrived, it was a disaster. One person in our group was served raw chicken--completely unacceptable and a major health risk. My own chicken lacked any flavor and ended up making me sick afterward. For the high prices, I expected much better quality and care in both the service and the food. Overall, Casa Gianna provided one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. Poor service, poorly prepared food, and high prices make it impossible for me to recommend this place. I won't be returning.

Yelp
I would give it a 3.5. It is nice and clean. A nice bar area that is inside and outside. The staff was friendly and helpful. The meatball was good but there are other places that have better meatballs. Spicy rigatoni is good as well but leaves more to be desired, other places are better. Chicken parm was good but it took a really time to come out. I finished my pasta and everyone else finished their plate and it still hadn't arrived. Desserts took long too. I would eat here again but wouldn't be my first choice. Would like to try other dishes to see how they fair.

Yelp
A beautiful place to enjoy at night, Top Tiramisu! service is untouchable, professional and friendly. Ramses, our kind waiter, he himself mixed sparkling water with lemonade for me, because that is what I wanted but they didn't have imperial lemonade on the menu. what a relaxing moment I got there, the bar is beautiful, lighting and furniture are so comfortable, coffee was nuclear hot wich is a "perfection" for us. Good job guys!

Yelp
I came to this place on a Saturday for lunch. It was very empty. There was only one table with patrons , by the time we got our appetizers. There was two more tables so in total four things , we order a simple pasta and it's taking more than 30 minutes to come out , unacceptable I understand these place is new, I can't just imagine what will happen when it gets crowded. The place is very beautiful inside and very elegant. However, the people are very casually dressed, the caprese salad was very good and also the pasta, our waitress was very attentive and very courteous, i'll give it another chance.

Yelp
Came here for brunch. Upon arriving, you notice the cute outdoor seating. Inside is even more gorgeous! The interior was baroque style giving off that European vibe. The quality of the food was good too. Lots of food in the raw bar area. The service was top notch. Very attentive. We were a party of 8 and they were able to sit us without a reservation.

Yelp
casa gianna is a standout spot in downtown miami! it brings an upscale yet relaxed energy to the area. the atmosphere is beautiful, the service is warm, and the food is top-tier. we started with drinks at the bar before heading to our table, where everything was incredibly fresh--the burrata with pesto was delicious, the bread was great, and the pasta was perfectly done. we finished with the praline terrine and an almond milk cappuccino, which was extraordinary. definitely looking forward to going back.

Yelp
Casa Gianna in downtown Miami has a spacious, open setup with great seating and excellent service. The complimentary bread was a highlight, but the mussels, while fresh, lacked depth of flavor, and the bolognese was average. I plan to return to try the linguine with clams--it's a good spot with a nice atmosphere.

Yelp
I loved my lunch time experience at this newly opened restaurant in the heart of miami. Beautifully decorated with an almost mid-century modern vibe -- high ceiling and the kitchen is on view to the guest. Friendly servers who were quick to accommodate the party -- the outside seating is also nice, for when it's not so hot and humid. The menu is small with a varied selection. I opted for the salmon w an aperol spritz. The salmon was delicious -- cooked perfectly medium. It had a nice crust of pistachios and it was sitting on top of a bed of sweet potato/tumeric/ginger puree with roasted orange glaze carrots -- ughmazzzing -- it also has a lovely and delicate side salad consisting shaved fennel and greens. I will be returning after the new year..highly recommend!

Yelp
Tried Casa Gianna this week with some girl friends we had been walking by for months and were so excited to try the food here! First impressions are it's stunning with a beautiful ambiance and decor with a beautiful indoor and outdoor space & bar! We were seated inside for our reservation. We started with some wine which was very good but came warm so we had to wait a bit for it to chill, and 2 apps: fritto misto, and the burrata. The flavours in the burrata were amazing and super fresh. The fritto misto was also very fresh (a little on the salty side but still amazing). For dinner we ordered the Margherita pizza which was a pretty standard pizza and very good, the fagotelli which was filled with short rib and had a wonderful sauce, the risotto was amazing and the star of the show, we also ordered the branzino which was unfortunately underwhelming it was very small and garnished with a lot of sprouts and stuff on top to maybe make it look larger- it was about a bite and a half for each of us (4 girls). The branzino is the only dish I wouldn't recommend. We had the praline terrine (100% recommend if you like chocolate and pralines) and the cheesecake for dessert. In terms of service our server was very pleasant, she seemed a little overwhelmed and didn't attend our table as often as I would have liked but she was very kind and had some great honest recommendations on the menu. I would definitely go back, they need a little bit of refinement on the food and service but I'm sure with a few more weeks open it will improve!

Yelp
This place is great for after work if you live downtown. Nice indoor and outdoor bar. The only downside is they don't have happy hour prices. I came back for dinner. The gnocchi is we ok but i really liked the steak as well as the shrimp salad.

Yelp
We had a very delicious New Year's Day buffet brunch. Everyone was so polite and customer service was always above and beyond from the hostess to our waitress! Also the pastry chef made the most amazing desserts and would love to come back another time with my family! The yummy food was 10/10

Yelp

Yelp
New cocktail destination unlocked? Yasss! Great drinks and reasonably priced food in the urban wasteland that is Downtown Miami.

Yelp
I loved this restaurant , the food was amazing and the service was great . I had the steak and bolognese.

Yelp
Food was awful. Service was extremely slow. We came as a party of 8 with a reservation, the apps came cold, the entrees we had to wait for over an hour and a half and each plate came out at different times so our party couldn't even eat together. When the entrees finally did come out everyone's food was cold. 2 people ordered chicken parmigiana and it was cold, I ordered the linguine alla vongole and the sauce was straight up clam juice and not edible. I would not recommend this place. This restaurant is solely for looks not food.

Yelp
We enjoyed Sunday breakfast in this bright new space and enjoyed it thoroughly with Yiskah taking care of us and enthusiastically promoting the many great options. One of us enjoyed the continental buffet and the other enjoyed a delicious omelet with roasted potatoes and a side salad. The food, service, and atmosphere were great, and we could see this becoming a place that we would visit frequently. We came back the following Sunday around the same time and unfortunately Yiskah was not working. We both chose the continental breakfast buffet. This time the service was not nearly as good and we were not aware nor were we told that the buffet would be shut down fifteen minutes after we arrived. We found ourselves rushing to grab food from the mobile carts as it was being removed from the buffet while a server brought us the check after we barely had time to eat. Upon arrival, the server should have steered us away from the breakfast buffet knowing that it was going to be removed so soon after our arrival OR we should have been given a heads up before they started tearing it down OR they should have apologized OR they should have offered us a discount. None of the above. We were simply told that they were excited about the brunch buffet, needed time to get ready, and between 11 and noon they "will not even serve anyone coffee." A bit disappointing after our first experience the week prior, which was fully a five-star experience encouraging us to make this a new weekly routine. This place is still fairly new so hopefully they will get the kinks worked out and further train staff to deliver a more consistent and excellent experience.

Mikaela F.

Yelp
Definitely do not recommend. Had reservations on a Thursday night not very busy but after ordering food it took an hour and a half for it to arrive and it was lukewarm not appetizing. It was a disappointing experience overall.

Yelp
This new addition to the Downtown MWC area is stunning. Great decor and ambiance. Lovely outdoor area with a walk-up bar.

Yelp
New place in downtown . Very cozy. Servers are trying really bad, but they forgot about pasta and got a free drink.

Shane W.

Yelp
It was just okay. Service wasn't good only saw our server twice. The food was eh. Could've been a lot better. Was very disappointed.

M R.

Yelp
The Service was great, Sasha was my waiter in the bar and she was very nice. I had the Fagotelli, the sauce had a perfect balance, one of the best I ever had in Miami. Ambience perfect for a date night.

Delaney C.

Yelp
We were super excited to try this place out! We ordered a calzone and just wanted sauce and cheese. It came out with chicken on it which wouldn't be a problem except I'm vegetarian. He kindly was fixing the problem to us and I expressed again I just wanted cheese and sauce. Then he brought out a calzone with mushrooms onions zucchini. Which is fine but simply not what we ordered. I didn't want to say anything because I was honestly just super hungry so I ate the crust. The server was nice but that doesn't make the service good. I wouldn't come back or say this is a must stop in Miami. The other food my boyfriend got was really good. Wouldn't have been a problem but the order was simple and clear. Kinda mansplained a calzone to me too.

Mike R.

Yelp
I literally never leave reviews, but this place was so bad I had to sign up for yelp just to let you all know to not go here. Service took forever, waiter would not check in with us to see if we wanted any more drinks or water. Food came in at different times for everyone. My wife didn't even receive her food until everyone had finished their entrees. All my wife ordered was a cacio e pepe, there is no excuse why it took an hour and a half for her to finally get her plate of just plain pasta with cheese and pepper. Appetizers came out cold, entrees came out cold. Pasta was flavorless. Their nutella pizza maybe had a teaspoon of actual nutella. Overall, they completely missed on single item that was ordered. Do not waste your money here. It's only a nice place to take pictures for instagram, if you're into that.

Lynn G.

Yelp
Food is good but service needs ALOT of work. Check in is in a weird spot if you're not coming in from hotel. Went a third time last week and waited at the hostess desk for 5 mins with no one in sight. We finally found her by the bar (far from the check in you're directed to). We were sat (by said hostess) but then had to flag down a server after 10-15 mins. At that point, the server who came over told us in a very annoyed manner that we had to be seated by a hostess. We explained that we had been and said server sighed and said he'd find out who our waiter was (no offer of water or anything). At this point we've been there about 20 mins with no water and no server. A woman dressed more as a hostess came over and chastised us for sitting on our own. We explained that we'd been sat by a hostess and without a word, then took our order. When the food arrived, it was great. Our third time there and food is always good. Their service however, needs major help. They also charge a "service fee" of (I think) 20% which two of 3 servers went out of their way to tell us is not a tip that goes to them. Odd. Turns out it's a tip "pot" for all the employees. Awkward when your server says it's not THEIR tip.
