A Mexican-American Brewery in Chicago Challenges Big Beer on Cinco De Mayo - Eater Chicago

"Casa Humilde brewery, owned by Mexican Americans José and Javier Lopez, is part of the District Brew Yards in West Town, Chicago. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has faced challenges but has continued to sell canned beers and make deliveries. The brewery offers a craft beer alternative to megabrands like Corona, Modelo, and Dos Equis. Despite difficulties in getting store owners in Mexican communities to stock their beers, Casa Humilde has found new accounts and has seen a slight uptick in sales. Their lagers, like Maizal, are particularly noted for their taste." - Ashok Selvam

Casa humilde was on point for food and drinks/unique beers. Shout out to Denise, who was an amazing industry professional, and the casa humilde team for ensuring that our group was well taken care of. I’m so glad to see a spot on Madison that brings a new flare to the neighborhood!

Food and service are great. Denise and Jose do everything they can to make you feel welcome and taken care of. Way better than Exit Strategy (the last tenants on the property). Will be back again and again. Al Pastor tacos go crazy. Mole tacos go crazy. Quesadillas go crazy. 10/10. 100/100.

Been twice, and the beer and food are fantastic. Seriously, best tacos I've had in the FP/OP/RF area. Service can be a bit slow when busy, but that's true most anywhere. I wish they were closer, but then I'd spend too much time and money there.

We were super excited to try the new brewery today especially since they said they would also have cocktails in the forest park review. I’m allergic to wheat and was excited to be able to go to a brewery again while being able to have something I could drink. They don’t serve cocktails and they don’t even serve food until 4pm. I got a michelada and chanced my wheat allergy. It was good but now I’m paying the price. :( Hope they start serving cocktails and open their kitchen earlier. We would’ve stayed longer and spent more money if they did.

The beer made by the guys at Casa Humilde Cervecería is delicious, BUT the “pour your own beer” concept of the place itself is dumb. Interacting with the “beertender” is why one goes to a brewery and unfortunately this place is a miss.

Hello, good evening, it is a good restaurant. I recommend it now that I went on vacation. Super good, excellent for me and my family. The truth is, there was a person named Andres who served me excellently.

Yelp
THE BIG: Another brewery inside the District Brew Yards Brewpub. Street parking available for those who are driving here. THE BLACK AND WHITE: Casa Humilde focuses on Mexican style beers which showcases the Mexican lagers, seltzers, and other beers with tropical fruit. I'm glad I was able to just pour enough to have a taste rather than commit to an entire beer. My favorite beer here were the Pinata Hazy Pineapple IPA. It's a pretty clear IPA but has those nice tropical notes. The Herbal Colada Tropical Hard Seltzer was also a vibe. Great for those who wants something super light. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall a decent brewery. Not my favorite brewery inside the brew pub but still some decent beers. 4pks of the beers here ranged from $10 - $15.

Yelp
The staff and service are some of the best! Love all their food and beer options. I got hooked on their Thursday night $20 special where you get a killer burger (w roasted poblano and special sauce), seasoned fries and a beer. I've already gone back three times and will go again soon. Had the pleasure of meeting Jose and Oscar (2 of 3 brothers who run it) and their brewing origin story is inspiring. Happy to support family owned businesses. Go to Casa!
