Value: 4/5
I have been to Casa Lahori several times and even during their grand opening. My first impressions of their service have greatly improved but do leave room for improvement. I will admit that I do go at odd times, but there have been instances when I have had to wait 5 to 10 minutes for someone to help me. The staff and the owner especially are extremely nice though and I appreciate their demeanor. Though the food tends to run a bit expensive, they have a lot of amazing Pakistani fair that is unique to their culture. The flavors in their dishes are rich with authentic spices and a depth of meaty savoriness that is missing in most Indian food. If you want to try something different and know that you will eat something amazing, definitely stop by Casa Lahori after a grocery shopping run.
Seekh Kabab Paratha Roll: 5/5
This is part of their recent menu expansion and I highly recommend it. The kabab is very well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The juices that run from this roll are insane. The bread is spread, I believe, with butter and some sauces and tastes ridiculously rich and inviting. All of the ingredients are portioned perfectly and there is something seriously addicting about it. You honestly can never go wrong with a kabab roll, but this one is uniquely light and doesn't give you the post meal hangover. Make sure to ask for the garlic sauce. I will admit for the price of $11, it does feel a little small, but I highly highly recommend!
Samosa Channa: 2/5
Sadly, this one was a miss for me. The samosa tasted pretty generic and was slightly cold making the potatoes chalky. The channa, the curry of chickpeas that are enveloping the samosas, were also sort of cold and had a watery taste to them. The flavors of Casa Lahori tend to be powerful and like to fight the palate, but I found the flavors to be very dull. One of the very few things that I would not recommend.
Rose Lassi: 5/5
This is my favorite lassi. If they were cheaper, I would get one for the road each time, but alas, Casa Lahori knows that they make great lassis. Smooth, light, refreshing, sweet, tangy, and the unmistakable rose syrup makes this a must get if you are eating the wonderfully spicy food here! If you are not into rose, their plain sweet lassi is also a 5/5!
Sheer Khurma: 4.5/5
I really love this dessert, though I will honestly say that this isn't my favorite. To me, a good sheer khurma has a little more liquid in it and has a more powerful flavor and sweetness. The one served here is very light both in spice and sweetness. Plump raisins and sliced almonds really give this dish a pleasant texture and is so fun to eat with the noodles. A perfect end to a spicy meal!
