Casa Lola - Review - Long Island City - New York - The Infatuation

"A tapas bar just steps from the 7 train should be a shoo-in for LIC’s best happy hour spot. Unfortunately, the food at Casa Lola doesn’t quite cut it. Croquettes, sardines, and even simple dishes like pan con tomate come out of the bustling open kitchen tasteless, soggy, and all-around lackluster. However, this place does have an extensive wine list, delicious sangria, and adorable olive-print wallpaper, which might be why it stays packed after work hours. If you’re on Vernon Blvd. and in the mood for fruity wine, have a drink here before going to one of LIC’s other great restaurants for dinner." - Neha Talreja

Casa Lola Restaurant Is Opening in Long Island City From a Noma Alum - Eater NY

"Valentina Salcedo, originally from the Catalan region of Spain, is opening a tapas and wine bar in the spring: Casa Lola at 47-46 Vernon Boulevard, near 48th Avenue. The space will offer an open kitchen and a bar that will run the full length of the restaurant. Previous to Casa Lola, the space had been home to Bella Via for 20 years, which closed in March 2022." - Melissa McCart

Although the menu is limited, our tapas were really delicious! Reading at reviews, this one will be fair. Food was great! We enjoyed everything we ordered and we would go back. The sangria was also delicious and well balanced. Like any new place, we believe the staff needs a little more training, for example learning the menu and the sitting spots so the servers know where the food is going. Although or server was nice and kind to us she was a little all over the place, so we strongly believe is a matter of proper training and getting used to it. Another suggestion is the getting better ventilation. Despite de doors being open it gets a bit hot due to the close proximity of the kitchen. In summary, I recommend this place and I also recommend for customers to be patient. We look forward to visiting again! It would be great if paella makes it to the menu at some point!

Had made reservations for 9 pm on a Friday evening and this place was packed, but we were seated right away after showing up early. On a warm summer evening when there is a slight breeze, I'd definitely recommend outdoor seating. We unfortunately were seated indoors where we did not have much air conditioning. Our waiter and servers were friendly enough to accommodate our request to seat outdoors whenever available, which they very much obliged to. Food wise, everything we ordered was excellent & while strangely enough I saw a lot of pictures of Patatas Bravas ($10), it was the least flavorful dish in our ordered. The mushroom croquettes ($4 each) were absolutely delicious and meat lovers on our table enjoyed both, their seafood and some sausages that they had ordered. Friendly staff, and a very entertaining and fun to converse with Ricardo, kept the evening entertaining and fun for us. I was charged an extra $2 (I know super small amount), which for me is very smirk worthy! Delicious sauce though. Will recommend this place to friends and family and will definitely visit again!

We had amazing night here with our friends. Food is great. It took us about 6 try to find a bottle of wine we like. But Jess is super nice and kind. White wine sangria is not my liking, but overall it’s great. We miss the old Italian restaurant here, but hoping this new Tapas place can replace it.

I want to start off by saying I would go back and give Casa Lola another try. The prices were great for the portion sizes, and everything we ordered was tasty. I was impressed by the mountain of added fruit in my sangria. But they were severely understaffed for a Saturday night. There was only one waiter serving every table, and we couldn't flag him down for a long time. I also found a long stand of hair stuck to the fruits in my sangria, then the AC panel on the ceiling began dripping on our table. I hope this was just a fluke, and they figure out these issues as they mature.

Super cute atmosphere. We came to celebrate 5 years and there was live music and flamenco. Service was attentive. Food was delicious and so were the drinks. My bf loved the Barcelona Mule. I didn't get any photos of the food because we immediately shoved them down 😂. Highly recommend getting bread with the clams ❤️. They very nicely treated us for our anniversary:) thank you!

We loved this spot and would recommend and return. The sangrias were delicious and strong, the staff was so nice and easy to talk to, the food was delicious (although not very photogenic, so hard to tell from the photos). We loved all of our dishes (octopus, scallop, pork cheek, bomba, croquette). The only downside is I think the kitchen gets a bit overwhelmed - the restaurant fills up fast during peak dining hours and adding more food later into your meal seems to be a tough task for the kitchen to keep up with. It’s also quite crowded with tables very close to each other - contributing to heat, and overcrowdedness which is not working out with the kitchen organization. Not a big deal for us, we weren’t starving or in a rush but could see how it could be problematic.

This place has a lot of potential but it’s way too crowded - to a point where the waiting staff is passing your food over other people’s heads. It’s loud, all the tables are jammed on top of each other, and the food is just okay though decently priced. Nothing really stood out to me except the sangria which was delicious and had fresh fruit. Hoping to see some changes made soon!

I was excited to have a tapas joint in the neighborhood. We waited a bit to try as the reviews weren’t that good in the beginning while they ironing things out. So here we were on a Friday night a few months after opening. Simple decor inside this bright and cute place with many tables close to each other. The staffs were friendly but unorganized, staffers brought out wrong items to our table twice. It seemed like they didn’t know what dish go to which table. The food here overall were okay, definitely had better elsewhere. Tapas are hit or miss, the simple and classics Patatas Bravas was bland! Tapas we tried that was pretty good: -Chorizos -Pork Cheek -Jamon Iberico -Pescaditos Fritos (Fried Anchovies) -Garlic shrimp The following tapas we tried were so-so: -Croquetas -Pulpo A La Fiera/Gallega (octopus) -Tortilla De Patatas (Spanish Omelette)
