17 Top Tequila and Mezcal Bars in NYC | Eater NY

"Beyond playful decor and Mexican fare at this Lower East Side cantina, there’s also — as the name indicates — a nice mezcal list. There are dozens to choose from on their own, as well as in cocktails like a mezcal Manhattan. Three floors give it a raucous vibe, so don’t come necessarily for serious sipping." - Paul Schrodt

19 Top First Date Spots in Manhattan | Eater NY

"On the quiet side of Orchard Street, this cantina provides a fun and vibrant setting for a first date with moody lighting and playful decor. There’s a big bar and high-top seating to choose from. Linger for hours over a flight of mezcal, if the attraction’s there." - Patty Diez

7 Outstanding Oaxacan Restaurants in NYC | Eater NY

"Dark and mysterious, this cocktail lounge and Mexican restaurant is a Lower East Side staple, with bar food more adventurous than many of its patrons probably want. There are drinks with rims of pulverized grasshoppers, and grasshopper taquitos, too, plus a nice tlayuda. A classic chileajo is made with vegetables instead of pork. Though the mole list is meager, there are plenty of mezcals to make up for it." - Robert Sietsema

My daughter & I are visiting the area for an event and saw this restaurant fairly close to us. Really cute place. Excellent staff. Super nice & friendly . Our entrees were delicious. We had chicken fajitas, spinach enchiladas and chips & queso . For dessert we the xango - deep fried banana cheesecake & ice cream. Just delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area !

Google
Good place for lunch special. Really liked the steak fajita and burrito espinaca, flavor and portion are good. I have been to this place a few time for happy hour and dinner as well, the one thing is margaritas isn’t very consistent with how strong they are. Service is fast and welcoming.

Google
I've never been to a restaurant that brings your food out so fast. I was never a Mexican food fan. The owners asked me what i liked and they recommended a meal to me. One by one I've tried most of their entrees. Nothing disappoints. The family atmosphere is very welcoming. The staff is very attentive and makes sure you are taken care of. Ask for Teresa, Juan or Cassandra. They are our favorites!

Google
Cute place recommended by friends. Margaritas were strong and flavorful with nice presentation. Guacamole was delicious! My husband had the street tacos, which he loved. I had the burrito bowl with shrimp and steak and an egg on top for brunch. The owner, Chris, provided excellent service and was very friendly. Highly recommend! We were visiting from out of town. I wish we had more places like this in South Jersey!

Google
My family and I were in the area for spring break and stumbled upon this hidden gem. Our server, Issac, was incredible—friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered our entrées, and the food came out within minutes. Throughout our meal, the staff kept checking on us to ensure everything was perfect. I ordered the carne asada. While it was flavorful, the meat could have used a bit more seasoning and was a little greasier than I would have preferred. One suggestion I would offer is to ask customers how they would like their meat cooked. Mine came out overdone, and I personally prefer my steaks cooked medium or medium-well. Overall, though, our experience was wonderful and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back!

This is fast becoming one of my favorite places in the area! Have been several times for lunch and happy hours. Everything I’ve gotten has been delicious! The nachos with cheese and beans are super yummy and cheesy. The drinks are excellent! Have had several types of margaritas and Paloma’s and soft drinks. Ice tea is quite refreshing as well. I very much enjoyed the Hawaiian fajitas- there was so much food!! Can’t wait to come back! Have had several small group gatherings here as well and they worked really well with us and the service was always wonderful. The appetizer sampler is also a favorite.

Google
This place used to be our absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. We have been here MANY times but today will be the last. The food is wonderful, the service is great but the cost is just way too much. We came at 12:00 on a Sunday and left paying nearly $60 including tip for two fajita meals and water. I’m not sure what changed but the portion was MUCH smaller today. It was $20 for a chicken fajita meal which used to be okay and so much food that I always left with leftovers and today I walked away still feeling hungry. It’s not worth it anymore for it to be $20. In addition, ANYTHING extra was an up charge. We asked for cheese (which was a pinch) to go with our fajitas and that was $1.79 each, a tiny cup of sour cream was $1.79 and a side of salsa verde was $1.79. Nearly $8 extra for something that should be included with a fajita meal. We weren’t even told about the extra up charge for each thing we asked for. Truly saddened that it has gotten so expensive because this was a favorite go-to spot that was guaranteed to be a great meal and service. I understand costs of everything is high these days but $60 for two people for a Sunday lunch is just ridiculous and not something anyone should pay. For the amount of food that we got it should have been $30-35 and I would have been giving this place 5 stars.

smore please

Google
Service was extremely fast and the employees were all very kind. The food came out quickly and it was delicious. We dined on the patio and the decor was nice and the patio was very clean, and the all the flowers around made it smell really nice.

Yelp
This local gem was amazing! We were greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. The cozy cultural decoration was very inviting. The menu had many options and tons of drink/beverage options. We decided to go light with just appetizers. So we went with the chicken empanadas and the birria tacos along with my passion fruit frozen margarita. Everything was delicious. Our server was super friendly and made sure to check on us regularly. It was a pleasant surprise close to home. When in the mood for Mexican give it a shot.

Yelp
Really like the place. Food is really good. People are nice. But for crying out loud turn the music down to a reasonable volume. People want to be able to speak to each other when they eat. This is only an issue on weekend evening.

Linda C.

Yelp
it's your soft opening n I have two suggestions easily fixable 1. do not sweep near a customer as they are eating ... takes away from dining experience 2. get rid of Fabioso cleaning spray ... it's so strong in scent that I could not smell the delicious food I'm eating all I smell is the cleaning spray ... find a non scent spray that cleans well food delicious Guac delicious I'll b coming back once you open ... hard!

Yelp
Second visit was even better than the first! Great food, fun atmosphere, nice staff - very efficient, everyone's order was correct in our party of ten, and the margarita was sooooo good! We enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa, the guacamole and queso were a hit, and all entrees were enjoyed.
google avatar

Yelp
The margaritas were strong! Just the way I like them! I order the burrito supreme which was delicious! After dinner I ordered a dish of Grier ice cream. I wanted coffee, but they had none. I then ordered Kula with cream, no cream! The restaurant was truly authentic. The food was delicious! I was somewhat disappointed with the level of service, average. The manager was more attentive than the waitress. So, I will return !

Yelp
One of the first things you'll notice here are signs thanking you for your patience. The staff appreciates being busy serving others and promises to get to you as soon as possible! Secondly, the food is delicious! In addition to all the standard Mexican dishes, your taste buds will be delighted by the diverse and rich flavors available. Finally, the environment is welcoming to both large parties and smaller families. And I haven't mentioned the bar -so many options you'll need to see for yourself!

Yelp
My rating is a 3.5 amicably rounded up to a 4. food rating is like a 3/5 though. Drinks were excellent. Vibe was pretty cool. there was a chill uncle giving salsa lessons lol. I did not enjoy the food. the refried beans were good and the pico de gallo tasted nice and fresh. My plate of carnitas was lukewarm in the middle tho so idk how to feel about that. Bean nachos also weren't great for me. At every restaurant, certain dishes get more attention than others... I can usually pick that out but today I did not pick meals that were made with care lol i'll put it like that. Personally, this place will not be going on my list. I know how I feel about my lukewarm carnitas now.

Yelp
When you think of a Mexican restaurant, this is what I see in my mind. The food was on point. My drink was great. A lil strong but I am okay with that. The service was great. Very attentive staff. I love the good vibes wall of decor. It's definitely a little hole in the wall but what an amazing find.

Brandi F.

Yelp
Very rude and not even close to worth the price nor inconvenient location. If you post hours open til 10pm you should be open and serving til 10pm... not 9:20.... Nope... won't get my money again!

Yelp
This place has become a family favorite. The food is great and the drinks are really good too. I absolutely love the flaming margarita. They also treat us like family whenever we go. The service is top notch. Highly recommend!

Melissa S.

Yelp
Me and my family ate here last night and we had the private room in the back! All I can say is the service was great! The foods & drinks were excellent. I loved the street corn & fried ice cream. The beef nachos were so good! The eleven of us couldn't be happier. Thank you all.

Yelp
We came here after looking for a Mexican restaurant in Elkton on Yelp. The place is newer, well decorated and a great atmosphere. We were seated quickly. Our waitress, never gave her name, was very helpful in pointing out their special dishes. My wife had the Hawaiian Fajita and I had the Burrito Texano. We also had stuffed Jalepenos. The stuffed Jalepenos were the only low point of the meal. The cheese wasn't melted, still cold? Not sure if this is a cooking style or was a result of being a frozen food. The Burrito was perfect, with shrimp, chicken and steak. Meats were well seasoned and prepared. The Hawaiian fajita came out in a half pineapple and tasted great. The fixings were all fresh and tastey. The only other drawback was a 3% charge for credit. Bring cash

Yelp
Boris is the absolute man. This place can't be beat, especially in the Elkton area. Total gem.

Yelp
Juan our waiter was amazing, funny, providing great recommendations. Food was outstanding. Wife got the chicken fajitas. I got the Baritta tacos. We had empanadas for apps. And the chocolate filled churros were delicious end to the meal...oh and they put a FLAMING SHOT in a cut LIME in their house margarita!! Maybe we found our new Mexican spot! Will need to try the other dishes.

Yelp
Great staff, good service and good prices. Offers a few outdoor tables and relaxing dining rooms. We dine here often.

Helen B.

Yelp
The service was just amazing! We were 1st timers and couldn't get over the attention we received! The food was A+, the margarita fight was over the top and the music was a great variety! We will definitely be back, thank you!

Yelp
Casa Mezcal is so good. I've been twice in 3 days! The customer service is excellent. As soon as you arrive, you are greeted and they offer complimentary chips and salsa...it's really good. For dinner, I ordered the empanada appetizer (4) $12, but I chose 2 chicken and 2 beef empanadas. It comes with some type of cheese sauce on it, not too crazy about it but it was good. I also ordered a side of beans and rice. It's really good. The best I've had in a long time. For a cocktail, I chose the Golden Margarita ($13) it was good but kinda costly for a Mexican restaurant. I've typically seen margaritas priced around $8-$10. For $13, I'd expect top shelf or close enough. But no big deal...I'd still enjoy another one. Only negative thing about this place is parking. It's very limited. The restaurant shares its parking space with a gas station store, bank, etc. The shopping center is kind of small and located on a back road. This location has had restaurants come and go, this is probably the 4th or 5th restaurant I am aware of! But I think they'll be here for a long time. It just opened up and it's been busy. Parking lot stays packed! Also, the restaurant is pretty small so I wouldn't suggest a party of more than 6-8 people. I believe 8 is pushing it (tables small). Check it out, it's finally an authentic Mexican restaurant in Cecil County.

Rosanna F.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place purely by accident, but I am so glad I did. The service was incredibly friendly. The food and margaritas were fantastic! I will be back!

Ilana K.

Yelp
Wow! What a find! Awesome food, awesome service, awesome drinks! Can't wait to go back! Yes. It deserves that many exclamation points!! Especially our server Juan. He was super nice and helpful with our difficult table of 8 which included 2 vegetarians, 1 vegan and 1 gluten free/dairy free. We had a reservation to celebrate our daughter's graduation from University of Delaware today. It was a great choice. Casa Mezcal Margarita was tasty and fun. Comes to table on fire. Our daughter loved the Coco Loco - Juan said it was his fave. Our table ordered and totally enjoyed Veggie fajitas, Birria Tacos, enchiladas supreme, veg enchiladas trio, and Tilapia with shrimp. We have a reason to come back to Elkton now

Yelp
Excellent food, great service, very worth visiting if in the area! Only in this area once a year for work, but will be sure it's on my "to go to" list.

Carlton C.

Yelp
Casa Mezcal is an authentic Mexican food restaurant in Elkton, Maryland. They have dine in and carry out. I get carry out orders. The tortilla chips are home made and the food is excellent from burritos, enchiladas, tacos and more. Atmosphere has Latin music in the background with a few TVs around the bar. Clean and service is good. One of my favorite spots in Elkton.
google avatar

Jesse A.

Yelp
Really good food and service! The inside is very nice and the outside dining should be nice with warm weather.
google avatar

Teresa C.

Yelp
Friendly place , great drinks good food . I definitely recommend this place. I also recommend the birria tacos

Ashley S.

Yelp
I ordered the birria tacos, which were very good. The consumme was delicious. The dish came with rice and beans, a very small portion, which were both tasteless. The guac wasn't that great. Chipotle's guac tastes better. I also got a side of salsa, which was just ok - also bland. :( I'm not sure if the small portions were because I did a carryout order, but I was disappointed.
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
Decent Mexican food. It was kind of meh like most Mexican food around the MD/DE area.

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Great food at a good price, a nice place to eat. Several gluten free options. My kids loved their meals as well.

Dalton S.

Yelp
Very disappointed with this place. Wife ordered a meal advertised on the menu that came with specific ingredients. It never did. When server was questioned she just said, that's the way they make it. Then we were presented with the check. Apparently meal prices are subject to change without notice. Food was good but we'll never go back...ever and neither will my friends
google avatar

Yelp
The food was great! The service was as friendly, attentive, and fast as any place we've ever been. Very highly recommended.

Yelp
This business is off to a GREAT start! I entered for a meal shortly after 5pm on a Friday, was immediately greeted and offered my choice of seating section. I chose to sit at the bar. A young man who appeared to possibly be in a leadership role took my drink order (a classic margarita) and left drink & food menus for me. All of the staff was engaged & every one was smiling and productive. I felt comfortable and welcomed in the environment as a solo diner. Great job, folks! It's evident you enjoy working as a team. So good to see and experience!! I had fried chicken chimichangas and they were delicious!

Nicole W.

Yelp
Food was really not good. Cheese dip needed some jalapeños or something. Chips were stale. Salsa tasted like what you buy at the grocery store. Maybe we went on an off day, but food not good. Service was good.
google avatar

Brad P.

Yelp
Great new place, service was prompt during lunchtime. I had the shrimp tacos. They were very good, and came with rice and a small bowl of black beans. The menu is very full of choices and the bar seems perfect to watch a game at.

Marian S.

Yelp
Excellent food! Welcoming, pleasant and fast service. Amazing drinks! Nice place right here in Elkton.
google avatar

Dillon W.

Yelp
The food is hot and delicious here! Lots of wonderful drink options, including signature mezcala drinks. The booths feel a little cramped so I would try getting a regular table. This is a good roadside stop for any traveling family or individuals. I would say the one unique thing they have is taquitos, I don't see those too often out of the several resturants I've been to in the area before. Service is nice, the employees get things done and it's a very relaxed environment.

Amy C.

Yelp
Our food came out quickly and was very good. I had the lunch portion of chicken fajitas which was enough for two meals for me. However, it only came with two small tortillas, which was not enough for the amount of food in the skillet. Chips and salsa are only refilled if you pay for more, but the serving was large. The salsa was very good - Just the right level of heat. Three different servers stopped by our table throughout the meal, which was a bit odd but our needs were met. I will definitely try this place again.

Yelp
Don't let the gas station in front fool you, Casa Mezcal has the best Mexican food I've had on the east coast. Delicious food, great service, and a nice cute Mexican ambience with Spanish music playing in the background. We had the Choriqueso, Steak Fajitas, and Burrito Tejano. Being from Texas, my bar is high, but this really satisfied my Mexican food craving. 10/10 would come here again.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Burritos were great! Service was quick and responsive. Has a nice authentic Mexican feel to this restaurant and had music playing. Will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Victor V.

Yelp
Great food, awesome atmosphere, very friendly staff. Never had a bad meal, burrito pastor is a must!

Monica R.

Yelp
We finally made the 1.5 hr drive. Second time here! Still delicious! Staff is so friendly! And we were sure to remember our leftovers! So you want a great meal, with good background music and you don't have to break the bank? Try Casa Mezcal. Everyone we spoke to there were repeat patrons who felt the same. Thanks for another positive experience.

Hubert P.

Yelp
The food and drinks are always good and the service is excellent. The food is authentic. It reminds me of the food I had in Cabos & Puerta Vallarta. It's a hidden gem!

Rob D.

Yelp
Great food fast. Parking lot was busy but got a seat right away. Tried the enchilada platter, and 3 hard beef tacos. Wife got shrimp tacos, a little spicy but tasty. Kids tried the beef nacho supreme and pork Al pastor tacos. Delicious .drinks very good also, we got strawberry margarita, Miller lite in the bottle and Mexican coke in the bottle.

Vicki G.

Yelp
Excellent. Warm welcome, friendly service, delicious food. Loved the birria tacos. Look forward to returning to try more choices on their menu. 8

Marisa C.

Yelp
Been here three times since they opened and the food has always been very good. Super fast to come out too. The servers are very nice and always pleasant. Their margaritas are really good too.

Yelp
Casa Mezcal has recently opened and I certainly would recommend for anyone looking for well made meals from standard Mexican menu. This place really drip's potential to be one of the best Mexican places within 1/2 hr drive. I do need to confess up front, ours was far from a perfect dining experience, most of which I attribute to the restaurant being slammed and it seemed as if the staff was still working out the new opening jitters. Best of all the Margaritas were skillfully crafted from scratch - a big plus. Nearly all dishes arrived at the table and all 5 of us agreed we need to come back to try more of their offerings. We tried - Carne Asada, Enchiladas Poblanos, Vegetarian Fajitas, Chicken Tacos, and Camerones a la Diabla. All we re tasty and freshly made to order. The bads... just 2 significant issues, 1 vegetarian fajitas did have a piece of chicken in it which caused a bit of discussion amongst us around the table, our resident vegan resolved the issue declaring that it's understandable. 2. Me being a heat lover would have appreciated if the Camerones a la Diabla had much more spice. They tasted fine, just quite a bit of spice seemed to be left in the kitchen. I'm certain to be back a few times over the next few months. Hopefully many more folks will stop by any give this place a try

Mick P.

Yelp
My husband & I go every Friday night for dinner but the last 2 times we went service was not good. Most the servers don't speak English if at all, so they don't understand what you are asking. They will bring your dinner out but forget the rest of the order. We had to even wait for refills on water. I don't know if it's because they are becoming popular & can't keep up or lack of servers.

Angeline D.

Yelp
Good drinks and food! Typical fare for this type of restaurant. Service was a bit slow.

Bijan K.

Yelp
Honestly the best Mexican food I've ever had. Seriously give this place a try, was delicious and I'm going back tonight. I got the Steak Burrito, Birria Tacos, And Pineapple Fajitas TO GO and everything was delicious.

Jody Q.

Yelp
We went to order carry out because phones were down or not being answered . Gave 2 starts because it is still new and they need to find their rhythm... My chimichanga was missing white caso and meat did not have enough flavor in my opinion. Enchiladas were also ordered and needed a bit more flavor as well . Churros were delicious but size for price compared to Salinas and some others were small. We will try them again because I know new places need a chance for staff and management to sync . Hoping to leave a better review then . Ps were out of empanadas !
