9 Dallas Destinations Celebrating MargaritaCon This Spring | Eater

"The food at Casa Mia Latin Cuisine spans Central and South America for delectable dishes beyond the normal Tex-Mex (but they have that, too!). Snap a pic with the “Got Pupusas?” mural, then settle in for some Salvadoran tamales stuffed with chicken and potatoes, or move on to the steak and shrimp surf and turf platter with fried plantains, yuca, and chimichurri to guarantee a satisfied appetite. No matter what you get, it’ll pair perfectly with a classic frozen margarita made with Astral Tequila. Throw in a sangria swirl if you’re feeling extra festive." - Steven Craig Lindsey

Google
We found this place when search for good margaritas nearby. We came by on a Sunday and almost didn’t stop by as it looked very empty. We decided to come in as a were her already. I’m glad we did. The Spicy Pineapple margarita was awesome! My wife and enjoyed our drinks, the ambiance, and the bar staff were super friendly. We stopped by for drinks this time, but will be coming back soon for dinner. Highly recommend for their drinks. We will soon try the food.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Took my kids with me to Casa Mia and we had an awesome experience! We started with the black bean salsa and chips by far the best I’ve had in DFW. We also had a side of plátano macho, which was delicious. The food was incredible ordered the mixed fajitas and my daughter had the kids’ chicken breast plate, which she loved. The drinks were top notch! Highly recommend the mango cucumber margarita and the pineapple margarita…so refreshing. The service made everything even better. The owner and her daughter were working and they were absolutely wonderful super friendly and welcoming. We definitely need to come back to try the pupusas next time. This is a 10/10 spot. We’ll absolutely be back!

Google
What a great find! Stopped by for a late lunch with my husband, and we were so glad we did. Everyone was inviting and attentive the moment we walked in, and our server Isaac was amazing throughout our meal. The food was fresh and everything was delicious, including the salsa and bean dip! My husband had the Chicken Flautas, and I had the Reina’s Super Special so I could try everything. We each loved our meals and highly recommend. The atmosphere was also fun and relaxing - it seems like a great spot for a date night!

Google
This was my first time here, and we will definitely be back! The margaritas were really good, and the beans, chips, and queso were on point. Their salsa was super good and had a good spicy kick. We had the pupusas, which were big and soft, and the fajitas were amazing. Our server was super nice too, shoutout to her! Definitely recommend!

Google
The place itself is a hidden spot so not much traffic when we went. I ordered the pupusas and they were great but in all honesty highly overpriced. You can get the same quality from a whole in the wall type place at a third of the price. I also ordered the shrimp cocktail and it seems like they cut my shrimp into smaller pieces when I was looking for them in my cocktail. Food does taste great but the price point for what you get is not worth it for me.

Google
First time to Casa Mia for an early lunch (11AM) and it definitely won’t be the last. Mom and I were eagerly anticipating what we were hoping to be a good experience, and it absolutely blew us away! This visit ticked all the boxes in terms of Food, Service, and Ambiance. It was truly exceptional. I can’t believe this place has been here for six years and we have lived across the highway all this time. Walking in, you immediately feel a sense of welcoming in an intimate, classy, high energy space. Wonderful first impression. This is a Family Business and one that you would be doing yourself a disservice for not stopping by. From the time we entered, we were immediately greeted and seated by John, the mixologist here. He and the chef in the back were truly the stars of the show. John introduced us to the establishment and spoke a bit about the history. He was expecting us (since we made a reservation online) so he had already reserved a table. He was more than happy to answer any questions we may have had about the Menu. Fortunately, we glanced at the Menu online beforehand in order to prevent any indecisiveness. Hot, Fresh Chips, Salsa, and Black Bean Dip (life-changing btw) were brought to the table first. The crunch and texture of the chip was perfect accompanied by the two dips and set the tone for the rest of the meal. 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ John then handed us the cocktail Menu and we ordered two Jalapeño Margaritas. Individually handcrafted with fresh, quality ingredients, this Margarita ranks right up there with some of the best we have had. The flavors of the lime juice and the jalapeño do a little dance on the palate and cut through with just the right intensity. 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For entrées, I ordered the Reina Plate and Mom ordered the Chicken Enchiladas. Both excellent! Hot, Fresh, Cooked to Order, Tender, locked-in flavor, and complete bliss with each and every bite. I love places that don’t over season or oversalt their food, simply because 1.) it retracts from the experience and 2.) we don’t add salt to our food at home. The seasoning here was perfect! I wish more places were like this. The pickled cabbage, carrots, and sauce were the perfect accompaniments to the fried plantains, yuca, pupusa with cheese, and tamale wrapped in banana leaves. The Black Bean Dip and Rice was a nice touch as well. Portion sizes just right and that can be hit or miss on several establishments. Presentation and aesthetics were on point as well and I would give them 10 stars if I could! 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for The Reina Plate 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for The Chicken Enchiladas For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Tres Leches Cheesecake, and it did not disappoint. Light, moist, and airy and the perfect way to end a meal. 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We were the only patrons at 11AM on a Monday. We loved the individualized service and it truly felt like John cared about us. Based on our dining experience and attentive/friendly service, we wish to return for subsequent visits. Looking forward to the opening of your location in Little Elm. See you again soon!

Google
High ratings are well deserved at this wonderful gem of a restaurant. Great, attentive, quick service is paired perfectly with the friendly and welcoming attitude of the staff! Amazingly, even the flavor and spice of the food matched the high quality of the staff; will definitely be back again. Loved it!

Yelp
Forget Mexican Sugar or Gloria's... the food here is AMAZING!!! The ribeye, the enchilada combo, the chicken flautas ... every dish was just awesome. Chips and salsa/black bean dip came out fresh and steaming hot. Our server, Mariela, catered to any possible thing we could want or need - as all the rest of the restaurant staff. It was just the best testaurant experience we've had in a loooong time!

Yelp
This is a small restaurant with very good service. The food was excellent, as we're the drinks. It has a bright and friendly atmosphere. We have only been twice but will go again. Oh yes, you get salsa & chips and also a black been dip that is wonderful.
google avatar

Milain C.

Yelp
The food here is beyond amazing and the warm bean dip that comes with the chips is a must try! The service is always top notch here too. It is a small, quiet little restaurant that has quickly become a favorite for my daughter and myself.
google avatar

Yelp
Overall the food is just okay. I would not stay this place is serving up authentic Mexican or Salvadorean food. The chilaques are served with a piece of grilled chicken breast, it's suppose to be shredded chicken!!!. The pupusas were good, surprised they didn't have an option where there is beans inside as that very typical. The best of all would be the free chips and salsa.

Carla S.

Yelp
The food here is amazing. We live in Lubbock so when we are in the area this is one of our favorite places to eat at.

Nancy B.

Yelp
We were excited to eat here with my sister who was in town visiting. The server (female) was extremely nice. When we went to order, the bartender stood behind her as she was taking our order. We couldn't tell if he was the owner, manager or bartender. When it was my turn to order, I asked the server if I could substitute a small salad or something else instead of the rice and beans. The bartender stepped forward and spoke before she even had a chance to answer. He said in a very rude manner, "NO SUBSTITUTIONS." I just looked at him and told him then I would like to order a la carte. He told me they didn't have a la cart. What kind of restaurant doesn't let you substitute anything at all for the rice and beans? Then, it isn't possible to get anything at all a la cart? Even if that was the case, that would have been fine, but he was extremely rude and loud. The server was so embarrassed. So, for that I would never go back to the restaurant and never recommend it. Again, the server was so nice, but he ruined our meal. If you treat customers like that then you can kiss your business GOODBYE.

Yelp
The food was super good. Best chips & salsa ever . Server was attentive. The food came out super fast and was hot. My husband and I enjoyed our time.
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
Food and service was excellent. Menu was diversified and included enchiladas which many restaurants do not serve! They also offer a lunch menu with good prices.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Delicious authentic Salvadoran Latin food! Highly recommend please see my other review of this restaurant for more details.

Yelp
It's been a year since I've been here but still producing great food. Beautiful environment and very friendly staff. I tried the Carne Asada, which came with beans and rice. It was the skirt steak version, but was a bit tough. Not sure I would recommend it. They also have a ribeye version. My wife had the enchilada combination that was very tasty. Sauces are absolutely fabulous. Even their chips and salsa are treat.
google avatar

Yelp
Date night..had the Fajitas for two combo plate Beef Chicken and Shrimp Grilled vegetables Everything was fresh and seasoned great Only negative was the Appetizer tried the Tamales stay away from them Definitely recommend

Yelp
By far my favorite place to hang out with my husband, friends and family. The staff is amazing. The food and drinks are delicious. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding dinner! Service is top notch, food is very fresh with large portions!! Fajitas for 2 and pupusas are very good. Portions so large we took some home. Highly recommend this family owned restaurant. Most likely my wife snd I will be sitting at the bar on Friday nights. Looks for a Colts hat and stop by and we can do a shot of tequila!
google avatar

Chris U.

Yelp
Been here with my folks and my kids on separate occasions and fantastic experiences each time. Beef fajitas are some of the most tender skirt steak I've experienced. Very good flavor. Good Margs good fajitas good service what more you need. Not super busy and friendly waitresses/waiters. Also had the fish tacos. Also excellent mahi mahi was big portions and cooked very well. Fajitas just stole the show and we've been back a few times. And plan on making them a regular.

Yelp
We love this place! It's a small whole in the wall joint in an unassuming strip mall with fantastic food. Service is always top notch from the entire wait staff. Food is always consistently good! + Beef Enchiladas: good + Carne Asada: excellent + Chile Relleno: great + Reina 's Super Special: great for variety + Pupusa: great + Pollo con camerones: excellent + Even the tortilla chips with bean dip were excellent
google avatar

Sonny D.

Yelp
Highly enjoyed the meal here, the guacamole, rice and beans were a delight. Often times the items that lack at most restaurants. Enjoyed the sour cream chicken enchiladas that were a hit with the family.

Yelp
We found this gem on Yelp. It had a lot of good reviews, and we were looking for something to eat after we had gone to a distillery. As soon as we walked in, we were seated and brought water, chips and salsa, and menus. The restaurant is not super big and the tables are kind of small and close together. They also have a bar that you can sit at. It has a cozy vibe. I decided on the jalapeno margarita and fish tacos. We also got pupusas to share as an appetizer. The jalapeno margarita was no joke. I've had some jalapeno margaritas before that just had a hint of spicy. This was spicy and good, but be prepared you can taste all the jalapeno. The pupusas tasted like an abuela was in the back, making them they were so good and fresh. It is the real thing! My fish tacos were amazing as well. I don't know the next time. I will be in Carrollton, but when I do, I will be coming here again. The staff was so friendly and attentive, and the food was just as good.

Yelp
Had an incredible first visit. We went on a Saturday evening and it was not too busy. I wish we got our servers name because they were super sweet. Everything from the start was great. Chips were sturdy, the salsa flavorful, the black bean dip could use more salt, but overall, it was nice. We enjoyed the pork and cheese pupusas. They were bigger than I anticipated! The cabbage and sauce complimented them nicely. The flight was great. They use the classic frozen marg as the base. We loved the La Picosa jalapeno strawberry marg. That drink should be on the menu year round. We ordered the Carne Asada and Casa Mia tacos. Every bite was packed with flavor. Save room for dessert! The churros were amazing! I enjoyed that Osmin, one of the owners, stopped by each table. He shared with us that the Pupusas are a signature dish that comes from a family recipe dating back to the 1980s.

Yelp
I haven't tried many Salvadoran food and this place definitely leaves good memories. The service was very friendly and prompt. We were greeted and got chips and dips right away there. I have to say the chips were the best I've put my mouth on in a long time, just because how crunch they are. I got a Carne Asada steak and asked for medium rare which I thought was cooked perfectly considering how thin it was. The quality of the meat was not bad either as majority of it chewed very well. From outside the restaurant almost looked like a nightclub with music blasting in the parking lot and looking very dim inside with a bar, but once inside it's actually well lit with ambient lighting and family-friendly. Music and crowd noise was pretty normal. Great place overall and glad it's close to home.

Yelp
This place was amazing and is a hidden gem. We needed a dinner on a Saturday at 5pm for a large party, total of 11. When I called they immediately said they could do the reservation and booked me right there. I received a text and all was set. We tried a variety of food of their menu and everyone loved their dish and finished everything. The staff and management were all great and so kind. Can't wait to do another dinner at Casa Mia soon!

KJ W.

Yelp
We always love Casa Mia. The owners and staff here really demonstrate a care for their food and customers. You usually get a visit from the chef. The staff have already made sure your dining is efficient and well tended. The menu provides an opportunity to tour some Central American cuisine or just stick to Tex-mex, either way it is super in taste. Casa Mia is special you should give it a try. You will be a fan, too.

Joe O.

Yelp
The food was great and the service is just as good. My picky eater girlfriend also loved it.
google avatar

Rose A.

Yelp
We were here last Saturday with a large group of 9. I made a reservation for 5:30, and our table was ready for us when we arrived. Service was friendly and helpful in making suggestions. Food came out promptly and all parties stated that their food was delicious. Portions are generous, and prices are very reasonable. I was surprised to see that it was not more busy. We will certainly be back for more whenever we come back to Dallas!

Yelp
Came here w/ my fiance for a late lunch, early dinner . This is a very cute spot ! Small but has personality and is a cute little vibe . Our waitress was also a sweetheart ! We had some drinks and dinner here. I grabbed an espresso martini and he grabbed some strawberry drink . I also had a skinny margarita. The espresso martini was definitely more of a dessert drink - delicious but not exactly my preference in drinks . For food, they start you off with chips and a bean dip and salsa - both were tasty. For main courses , I grabbed the casa Mia tacos and he grabbed the chimichanga with steak . I really enjoyed the tacos . The only gripe with the chimichanga was the steak was cut into strips rather than bites so a little difficult to cut through but was yummy nonetheless. Would come back if in the area

Yelp
What a hidden gem of Latin food! We were immensely impressed with the outstanding customer service & FOOD. We dined here on a week night & everything we ordered was delicious. The tasty food started with apps: fried Yuca, accompanied by succulent chicharron, which was fresh & fantastic! We also ordered the shrimp ceviche for our party of seven. The ceviche was incredibly fresh, with pieces of jumbo shrimp, enmeshed with lime juice, onion, fresh cilantro, diced jalapeños, and purple cherry tomatoes. It was the BEST ceviche I've ever had the pleasure of eating, it was so yummy that it tasted like organic ingredients. After the amazing "organic" experience, we all ordered different entrees. The highlight was the pork & cheese pupusa (I think it was made from rice flour), and again, FRESH with amazing flavors. The ambiance was opposite from family vibe (lol), being that we had our 13-months old boy with us. However, the upbeat & romantic setting is a great spot for dates!!

Cassie D.

Yelp
Oz, John and the entire crew at Casa Mia are fabulous making us feel like family every time we are in there. The food is always fresh and consistent. We recently had them cater our daughter's graduation party and they came set up and picked up the chafing dishes. Everyone loved the food and flavor. We can't recommend Casa Mia more!
google avatar

Sheila N.

Yelp
Still 5 stars! Mom and I stopped in for lunch today and had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Oz! Food, service, and ambiance right on point. Maritza was our server and she was lovely - checking on us throughout our meal making sure we had what we needed. We ordered cocktails to start - salt-on-the-rim jalapeño margaritas- the perfect accompaniment to the chips, salsa, and black bean dip which prefaced our meal. In true Salvadoran fashion, Mom ordered the Reina Special (came with tamale, cheese pupusa, yuca, fried plantains, black beans, pickled cabbage, and rice) and I ordered the Carne Asada. It also came with rice, black beans, yuca, fried plantains, and a choice of corn or flour tortillas (I chose corn). Perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful and with that chimichurri sauce? Oh goodness - chef's kiss. Both dishes excellent! What I love about this place is the friendly and attentive service in a welcoming space with beautiful energy. Also, the portions - they are perfect - and permitted us to have room to share a flan for dessert. Just the right amount of sweetness without being too heavy or dense. We will certainly be regulars here going forward. That is a promise. Can't wait to visit you at the Little Elm Location in a few months.

Yelp
The BEST! Food all the stars x 10 Drinks all the stars x 10 Customer Service x 100 Everything was excellent! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food, great fantastic drinks, and CUSTOMER SERVICE just impeccable!! Oz the owner very welcoming Victoria so sweet and attentive John tried to take me out with the drinks lol not really but one of the best bartenders I've experienced in a long time! And G is my new favorite friend/nephew lolol inside joke ** late post was in drafts but review is 100% factual still today
google avatar

Cori W.

Yelp
Wooowwww!! This food is made with LOVE! Service was great! I ordered the 3 combo enchiladas-shrimp with queso topping, shredded chicken with a sour cream sauce and the ground beef with chile sauce. SERIOUSLY SOME OF THE BEST MEXICAN/LATIN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!
google avatar

Tanya P.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant while visiting my bestie in Texas. The bartender makes a mean frozen strawberry swirl Margarita. I really enjoyed this restaurant. We sat at the bar and ordered their shrimp nachos as an appetizer. It was the perfect portion to share and to also not overeat so you have room for your meal. I ordered the Steak a la Mexica a dish I would never normally order. The steak was thin, tender and flavorful and the beans and rice were really good. I would go back.
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
This place was great! I wanted somewhere with good margaritas and that's exactly what we got and more! The wait staff was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and the drinks were tasty!

Rudy Beeching ..

Yelp
The whole experience was just ok. Not bad by any means but I was expecting more by the 5 star Yelp rating. It was a Saturday afternoon lunch. Very few diners so the service could have been more attentive. My guest did compliment the cocktail she had off the margarita menu. And the food was tasty but not unlike others.

Mrs S.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. Wont be back as its too pricey for casual lunch. They dont have a lunch menu or specials. A $20-25 plate of Mexican food should be outstanding. Food was just ok. Service was great though.
google avatar

Anthony B.

Yelp
We went furniture shopping Saturday so my wife, and I stopped by for dinner. Unfortunately we live too far to come here on a regular basis. This is the third time we've been here in as many years, and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly , and prompt. Next time we're in the area, we'll stop by again. I highly recommend this restaurant...again.

Lin E.

Yelp
The only thing I enjoyed and went back for (twice) is their tamales. It's really good. The other dishes I tried were just ok because I was very hungry. I've had the pork and cheese pupusas, carne asada, fajitas, chicharrones and tamales. I can only recommend the tamales.
google avatar

Maged A.

Yelp
Amazing!!! I usually only post when the experience was amazing or when it's horrible. Casa Mia experience was Amazing!!! Great food and great service. Food taste, portion and selection is on point. What also makes an exceptional experience is the service and what I experienced today was beyond expectations. Keep up the great job! Like my uncle always says "I'll be back"
google avatar

Robert R.

Yelp
Wonderful service and great food. Highly recommend the Salvadorian side of the menu, including some incredible beef dishes.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Third time I have eaten here and the food, drink and atmosphere is wonderful. Service was excellent. If you want good food with a relaxed atmosphere, I can highly recommend.
google avatar

M K.

Yelp
Parking: Plenty Ambience: Warm, welcoming, friendly Impressed during 1st visit - Chips, salsa and home-made beans were a great start: DO NOT get carried away (for those with no discipline like myself ), YES that good ! The "special" is recommended to "sample" fried yuca, plaintain, tamales and Pupusa (pork and cheese). I must say the Pupusa is to die for - Infact, I may just get that from the Appetizer menu (3 pieces) as a main course! The flank steak may not look as appetizing BUT certainly savory and tender. It's also a PLUS that any left-overs taste just as good for the next meal. Definitely returning for more.

N.R. B.

Yelp
It's been a few months from our gathering, but I am STILL filled with gratitude for the wonderful staff that made our MANY gatherings here delightful, fun and welcoming. covenant ceremony memorable, pleasant and welcoming. The staff and owner always greet us with so much joy and helped give us what need to get the desired outcome for our celebration. The drinks are always strong and the delicious food keeps us coming back for more. Friends and family loved the decor and atmosphere. What a fun place! Thank you! Mr & Mrs Webster!!
google avatar

Paige K.

Yelp
HOLY MOLY IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!! I am a picky eater (chicken finger and mac and cheese kid) and this food elevated my life without question. Do not sleep on this place or you will regret it. Check it out asap and end your night with churros and ice cream or miss out on greatness!!!! Thank you for everything tonight the whole staff was betond incredible just like the meal!!!,
google avatar

Riberani W.

Yelp
The famous Carne Asada!!! Didn't disappoint. Medium well with so much flavor! The Latin salsas and condiment! I tasted latin American with this meal! Nice place to eat and the service was fun! The people running the place were very welcoming and fun! They engaged with their clients. I'll return for sure!

Yelp
Love the food, drinks, music and the workers are always so friendly. Tables are always clean. Restrooms are kept clean. Food comes out pretty quick. Pupusas, tamales, plantains and chicharrones are my favorite.

Kiran

Yelp
The service is great and the food is consistently good! Staff is very accommodating and helpful, and it has a great environment. Definitely a family favorite!

Tom G.

Yelp
Great food and great, friendly service! I enjoyed the spicy mango margarita! Will definitely go back!
google avatar

Brandi A.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the food. Great alternative to Gloria's. Cost was still about the same, but food was tasty and seemed high quality and homemade for lots of the items. Service was excellent. It was after the lunch hours on a. Weekend so they could have been nonexistent, but they were personable and quick! Owner was onsite when we were leaving. He was right in the thick of it working, but still took time to hold our door and thank us for coming in. Nice touch!

J W.

Yelp
New Valentines drink. Food is amazing and fresh. You can't go wrong with this place. I can't wait for their opening in Little Elm.

Skyler T.

Yelp
The food was fresh and delicious. I would recommend the ribeye fajitas and the jalapeño margaritas. The jalapeño infused tequila is spicy and delicious. It doesn't hurt that the owner of the restaurant was making them perfectly. Service was very friendly and the owner was there and was over the top accommodating. You can tell he really appreciates his patrons. Ambiance was just right. Nice lighting, music had a great vibe and the plating was nice. Don't forget to try the churros. I would have taken pictures but we ran through all of the great food. We will be back!

Teri C.

Yelp
The food was wonderful and the service was fast + friendly (only 2 in front of house). It was a perfect midweek, dinner out spot for a family of 5.
