Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Houston With These Flavorful Cocktails | Eater

"Casa Nomad in Houston Heights is a cocktail den that often highlights Latin ingredients and inspirations. One of their newest drinks, The Pay Off, focuses on Ron Zacapa Edición Negra, a smokier and more intense aged rum with flavors of dark chocolate, smoke, tobacco, dried fruit, and oak. Edición Negra’s warming profile is complemented by tequila infused with mint and pineapple, zingy pineapple and lime juice, sweet and fragrant Aperol, golden Demerara sugar, and a flaming star anise garnish." - Vox Creative

First time here - Spicy mezcal drinks, tiki inspired cocktails, delicious Mexican-flare bites and snacks. Definitely try the tostadas. Also bonus: they have green chartreuse! The vibe is so warm with great music and better people. Thank you Chris for a wonderful experience!

The place here is absolutely & very welcoming. Chris made some delicious drinks I cannot wait to go back! His recommendations for us to try were spot on. Highly recommend this place! Definitely a place to start off the day/ evening with ✨

The best cocktail bar in MKT! You won’t be disappointed. Great atmosphere! Excellent cocktails and service. Chris and Ricky are awesome! Mixology of a finer craft!

Celebrated my sister's birthday, which she had a blast. Food and drinks were very good. The music was great. The place is very small with very little seating and it is hot, it's supposed to be like an enclosed patio style but it's hot, it could use fans. I definitely like the style of the place!

Finally had the opportunity to try out Casa Nomad as a friend was able to get a reservation. First off, this is a fair weather experience as all their seating is outside on the patio. And seating is limited, hence the rezy. Their cocktails are really good and Ethan even made some one off specials based on our preferences. 5 stars right there. The food was lacking in my personal preference for the coastal Yucatan vibe they are curating, which led me to 3 stars. There just wasn't much flavor in the plates we ordered. The black bean tamales fell really flat, the elote was decent, and the carnitas tacos were good I just still could have used a more "pop" in that taco. The Yucca fries were pretty standard but were like warm and came with no sauce for dipping. Yucca is pretty bland to begin with, so it needs something to dip it into. I was impressed with the amount of vegetarian options they had though. Not somewhere I'm rushing to go back to, but definitely a starter for drinks?

We hosted an engagement party at Casa Nomad and it was a great experience. From planning the event, the food and the decor, they were excellent to work with. We will definitely use them again if we are hosting another event.

The food is incredible! Best corn ever!! And drinks are amazing. It is outdoors only and super cute. This spot is perfect for a girls night or date night. As a total foodie, I love a place that has a great menu that does each dish extremely well. No dish disappointed!

Google
Loved the experience at Casa Nomad. It had a Tulum Mexican vibe to it. Small restaurant so I would recommend to make reservations. The cocktails were amazing and strong. The menu is small but the food did not disappoint. I would definitely recommend it if you are craving Mexican gourmet food.

Yelp
Destination Vacation Vibes Casa Nomad had initally piqued my interest because it looked reminiscent of a bazaar/teant, so being able to see it during business hours was even more awe-inspring. The warm glow and subtle signage makes this place feel like a well-kept secret. Even on a Saturday night, the atmoshpere was private and the decor gives the place an eccentric, boho vibe quite similar to what I've seen in Tulum. My partner and I sat at the bar and had the absolute pleasure of meeting Chris, the bartender. We're always on the hunt for cool bars with good drinks and cool people to speak to and that's exactly what we found here. Chris was an absolute delight and an amazing bartender who really knows his craft. He currated many, if not all, aspects of Casa Nomad. The menu, the drinks, the vibes... we all have Chris to thank for that. I am adding this place to my list of favorite cocktail bars as it ticks all of the boxes. I wouldn't reccomend this place for big parties, I'd say it's good for groups of 2-3. Highly reccomend!

Yelp
OMG !!! This place is so cozy and cute !! Last week me and my friend went on a girls date, and it was perfect to gossip and sip on their yummy drinks. We got their nachos with queso on the side, it was delicious The staff was friendly and welcoming, I can't wait to go here soon with my fiance. However, the place is small but cute. There is plenty of parking and that made things easier.

Yelp
Always in the mood for Tex-mex and good drinks. Met a friend for a quick bite. We enjoyed the Mexican lasagna and taco salad. Both were exquisite and reasonably priced. The flavors were explosive. They have a limited menu, but what they have to offer is very tasty. I would consider them to be a bar more than a restaurant. I ordered :what's she having. For all my Gin lovers, this is the perfect cocktail. Refreshing Hibiscus and lavender make the best summer cocktail. Both Ricky and Chris were phenomenal their service was so refreshing.

Yelp
Same amazing vibes, new menu. Casa Nomad has serious Tulum vibes and the Tequilla drinks have always been awesome. After talking to Chris about the revamped menu they want to give customers more choices, along with a decent food menu! I personally love Tequilla drinks so I can't complain as they nail them all. Recommend giving them another look if you've been before!

Yelp
I go here often usually during the week. I appreciate the intimacy of this place. I have had their menu cocktails and requested off menu cocktails. The drinks are crafted very well . I don't like sweet drinks. So I appreciate the balance of the cocktails. Food is available I rarely order it... I come to drink. But I have had their tacos and taco salad and both were delicious. This is a small patio space outside. Just covered . So no there's no major a/c it's connected to highline park bar ... so you can easily walk right over to the other side for ac if needed ... but it's never really hot per se . Service is always great of course the bartenders are friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Loved everything about this bar, except they weren't prepared for cold weathers very little seats inside and it was too cold to sit on patio. Service was amazing, ambiance was dreamy, loved the music, and the cocktails were great. Probably my favorite cocktail bar we've been to in houston

Yelp
We hosted a wedding party at Casa Nomad this month and both the food and service was excellent. They were such a pleasure to plan the party with! It was so easy and fun. Our guest had a great time and the servers were gracious enough to 'box up' leftovers for the guest to take home. The environment was festive and perfect. I cannot recommend them more highly. We will definitely use them again if we are hosting an event. Katie Smith

Yelp
It definitely took me a minute to find, but it truly is a HIDDEN gem! Chris took care of my dad and i and was so kind and attentive to us! It is an outdoor patio concept but even with it being 50 degrees outside the heaters made it so comfortable and cozy! Food was so flavorful, we didn't get drinks but for sure will next time!! Highly recommend:)))

Yelp
I was really hoping to love this place. All the IG pictures make it look so good and a great place. However, this is simply not the case. Casa Nomad is a glorified covered patio with no AC in Texas heat and the drinks were just ok. I asked for a passion fruit margarita with sugar on the rim (don't judge me) and 2x came with salt and no passion fruit whatsoever. My friend's drink lacked the sour flavor described on their menu. The server brought me a new glass with sugar to pour my drink into. He was trying to make it right. He was very nice. Bottom line is, don't believe IG hype. We were disappointed.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Casa Nomad! I looked up reservations about 5 days out from when we planned to go; nothing was available but I got on the "notify" list in Resy. We had planned on arriving at 5:00 at opening to see if they would seat us. The night before, a 5:30 reservation opened up, so I snagged that! We still arrived at 5 and were immediately seated. Seated IS limited, so although I don't understand why so many reservations are 3 weeks out (the day of, several spots opened up between 6-8:30 every half hour, so I'm not sure how the restaurant blocks them out exactly), I'd recommend having a backup plan if you can't get on. We went on a Wednesday. I ordered 2 of "The Mayan" cocktails -- the second one tasted completely different from the first; I loved the first but the second was too sweet. We split the "Four Flats" tamales entree, and it was delicious! Service was great! Plenty of parking at MKT. I've definitely added Casa Nomad to my list of places to keep going back to!

Yelp
Decided to finally check this place out since it's opening. Location/decor - 4* This is in the MKT heights center right off the trail. Great area with private parking available. When we first walked in our impression was it's quaint and intimate. Seating is all outside, but they have heaters for the colder nights. Food/drinks - 4* minus 1* for poor selection We had two drinks, the Te Amo and El Cenote. They were out of a key ingredient for the Te Amo, but said they could make it similar to which their reference was the "fake" Te Amo. This was very well balanced and enjoyable. The El Cenote was a bit too sweet and didn't have much pepper to it. It's a nice drink, but didn't hit where we were expected. We had the Pyramids and Elote as some light bites. The elote is a nice twist on traditionally served style with a nice flavor, but a little messy to eat. The pyramids were excellent, the sauce / dip particularly really made this dish standout. We chose not to order main dishes as, frankly speaking, the options were quite limited. It seems they rotate their menu heavily as there was only a few options and none of them really caught our interest. Cauliflower tacos, a sweet potato, veggie tamales, fish? It was disappointing from a selection perspective so we chose to pass. Service - 5* The service was great and our waiter was quite attentive the entire time. I can't say we were ever in need of an item. Pricing - 3* Subjective as always, but for two appetizers and a few cocktails we paid a little more than I'd say is expected. It isn't bad, it isn't great value. Meh. Overall - 3* I'd really consider giving this 4* if the food selection in main dishes was a bit stronger. For that reason I'm going 3. The service is great and you won't be disappointed. And look, I'd the main dishes strike your fancy, you won't be disappointed as we quite enjoyed what we did have. I'd recommend looking at the menu prior to setting a reservation and confirming later. Relating to that subject, it seems reservations are hard to come by here, but when we visited there was plenty available slots still, which was interesting since there was only one slot available a few weeks prior.

Yelp
Lotta hype surrounding this spot, so of course it's on my short list. In truth, it was alright! What's stand out is the ambiance- it's solely a patio (bathroom inside and shared with a neighboring restaurant, if I got that right?) with vibey lights and the perfect playlist, dropping you somewhere in Oaxaca, swaying and sipping! Speaking of sipping, I was very happy with my cocktail. It was layered and exotic. I tried the Camarones a la Diabla experience, including the crickets (!) and while I don't regret it, it didn't knock me over. My friends raved and raved about the oysters, tho. So, the answer is to go try it for yourself. Cheers!

Yelp
What a great experience! First stop to eat with my BFF, and what a treat! The waiter was kind enough to let us have a seat a couple minutes before opening because I couldn't stand much longer. The ambiance provides a great little kickback spot. This was however before it got crowded. The food was really good. I'll return to enjoy a little relax time. Also don't miss the whole other side with a nice outdoor space. If I hadn't gone to the restroom I would have missed this!

Yelp
Now I know why it takes a full month to reserve one table, even on a weekday! What is the hype about? It's an outdoor *only* bar. No indoor seating. They do have fans so that'd cover during the warm season. We checked in during the beginning of the cold front, so bring your jacket! Suitable for small groups, if you reserve way ahead. It's located right accross from De Gama. The cocktail menu is mainly tequila or mezcal, some gin but that's it. Drinks are strong. The one more balanced on both alcohol and taste is Mr. Nice Guy. We ordered a various of tacos, tamales, tostada and adobo beef cheek. - Carnitas tacos: I think the fat gave the flavor. Not much spices and anything else - Fish tacos: most flavor of all, surprisingly - Chicken tacos: bland chicken meat. Meh. - Tamales were alright - Adobo beef cheek: tender meat, rice was more on the undercook. I didn't get to try the tostada but presentation were there. Most of all, it is a cilantro feast, very heavy pour! Make sure to tell them your preferences! Our waiter didn't ask and had to redo a plate of tacos to remove them. Our waiter was kind and tried his best to attend us. Overall, it's a bit too pricey for the mood and not matching the quality.

Yelp
Everything about this place was fantastic except for the food. Very underwhelming dishesas they are all mostly shareable dishes for the table, it's not really a "meal" type restaurant. My lobster (claw meat) tacos had two pieces of meat that had the shell still on them. That was a surprise. Tortillas were extremely bland but home made. The ceviche was the highlight of the table of eight that we had, followed by the . The drinks were fantastic, one of the best regular lime margaritas I've ever had in my life. Our server Amy was tremendous, and could not have been any better. Overall, if you're into trendy places that will look good on your Instagram feed and just need a small bite before you head out for the night, this is 100% the place you want. If you want a full meal, where you start with chips and salsa, order a full meal as most restaurants, this is probably a let down.

Yelp
So overall the service and drinks were very good. We ordered quite a few and enjoyed them all. I can't really comment on the food since I read all the previous reviews that ripped the food apart. So I decided to steer clear from the food. We did order the churros from the recommendation of our waiter and they were very good. This would be the one food item I would recommend. It's 3 large churros and they're served with a delicious chocolate sauce for dipping. It definitely draws an interesting crowd...dudes with MK logos plastered all over their sweaters and ladies who have had too much bad Botox. Definitely have to make a resy to be able to have a cocktail here since the tables are all outdoors and it's a small space.
google avatar

Jaime Y.

Yelp
This location was smaller than I expected. It's like a closed in patio with a DJ, a handful of tables and a full bar. The drinks were very tasty! And we ordered a few appetizers. The bean tamale and queso (with chorizo) were my favorite. We had a very friendly waitress but once they got busier they served exclusively from the bar.

Yelp
Whew! When they say NO FOOD OPTIONS! My sister and I went here as a cute little ambiance place. She LOVED their oysters but I do not eat oysters so I was not impressed! Service was great though! Drinks were bomb AF! But food, no thank you. They don't even have a salad to offer.

Yelp
Went here on a busy Saturday night, we didn't have a reservation but the hostess Kelsey was awesome and found us a spot and went over some items on the menu with us before we were even seated. The food was great, the ceviche 5/5 is prepared with sea bass as opposed to shrimp and you can really taste the difference in quality and freshness including the lime juice used to prepare it. The grilled oysters 5/5 came on a bed of burnt wood chips and had an incredibly unique smoky flavor that we really enjoyed and hadn't experienced before, the oysters were also very tender and not over cooked in the slightest. The lobster tacos 4/5 were alright, the tacos had plenty of lobster in them, but I expected the taste to have more buttery and garlic undertones, I'm only being picky as it is a higher priced menu item. The lobster tacos did however come with a complimentary shot of mezcal or tequila so that was a plus. For dessert we ordered the tart 4/5 it was flaky and pretty good but we will definitely go with their other dessert option the next time we dine back in with them. Overall a solid restaurant we will definitely revisit to try some other menu options and again a huge shout-out to Kelsey for getting us a seat at such a busy time.

Yelp
Boring staff who know absolutely nothing about drinks. Asked for recommendations and stated she didn't drink. Very small space so make sure you make reservations in advance. The vibe is very LA but I'm in a 77008 zip code. They don't even want to accommodate anyone. So if you have absolutely no time in your life please come here!

Yelp
I tend to try and avoid taking negative reviews too seriously (as I write one lol) but this place was bad like really really bad. I should have listened to others ... It's never okay for the following to occurs - A) food arrives before cocktails - especially when the cocktails were ordered first B) food served does not match description on menus - for example the Tropical Fusion - is listed on the menu as Tiger Prawns, Avocado and Mango. What was served was shrimp, cucumber and canned pineapple. Huh?? I get a Avocados are expensive ...but....take it off the menu if it's too expensive for your spread C) never asked how the food was. Obviously only interested in turning tables. First visit ..last visit...don't waste your time or money PS. I corn tasted like it was right out of a can. $11 for Green Giant corn in a cup....way overpriced

Yelp
Came here on a weekday evening and walked in. Was sat in the bar area immediately. They reserve some tables for walk ins, and they are quite difficult to book on Resy. I realized why when I arrived - there is no indoor area and the patio is very small. This review is for cocktails only. I had the Te Amo (mezcal, tequila, lime, cayenne cordial, agave, pineapple giffard, topo chico) which I loved. It was well balanced and not too smoky. The cayenne added a subtle kick. Also enjoyed El Cenote (mezcal, elote liqueur, green chartreuse, pineapple, velvet falernum, demerara), which was a light and long kind of drink. The Oaxacan G&T (tequila, curacao, lime, agave, dragon fruit syrup, strawberries) was unique and fruity. I liked the addition of dragon fruit. It made it really special. Also had The Nomad (mezcal, ginger liqueur, lime juice, demerara, strawberry), which was a tad on the sweet side. The bartenders and servers were all kind and efficient. They brought us an extra beer on the house too.

Yelp
Definitely passes the vibe...Especially on a perfect breezy spring day. Good selection of drinks. Service was good and friendly. Tried just the appetizers on this occasion. Overall food was just ok and I don't know that it fit the price. 2 drinks and 4 apps came to around $80+.

Yelp
I wanted to try this place since it takes about 3 weeks to get a reservation. Upon entering, I see why, seating is super limited! It's all patio styled seating. It's a tapa style restaurant that specializes in mezcal and tequila cocktails. Went with a great friend. Our server was super sweet and made great suggestions. We tried the tuna tostadas, elote ribs, and churros. I liked the tostadas the best. Everything else was pretty good but the tostadas were my favorite. Drinks we tried were Jungle Disco and The Nomad Shot (as a drink not shot). We like The Nomad. The area where Casa Nomad is located looks like it's an up and coming mixed used development area with dining and shopping. Lots of parking. Enjoyed but wasn't worth waiting 3 weeks for a reservation. Took a star off for that.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by with a friend. Had the reservation for a month since the first time I tried to come they couldn't take us. It makes sense the place has a very limited amount of tables. You definitely come here for the ascetics and the ambiance. The music selection is pretty good so if anyone wants to drop the playlist feel free. I tried their gin drink without the passion fruit and it was perfect . Also ate the bone marrow and the tostadas. The bone marrow comes with a lot of bread. It was pretty good, but had a lot of garlic. The tostadas def overpriced but they were tasty. I did feel like the food was pretty heavy. My friend had the ceviche which she enjoyed. Would come again for the vibe for sure.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to check out Casa Nomad during their weekend soft opening. At the time they only had their patio set for dining. It's limited in space but beautifully dimmed under the pergola. I can begin by saying every person we came in contact on the service end was very pleasant. Our sever explained their concept of Mexican Tapas and specialty cocktails. The latter was a disappointment. I ordered the Te Amo mezcal-tequila drink and that fell completely flat. There were no hints of the smokey/earthy tones of the mezcal and tequila or any carbonation from the Topo Chico for that matter. I asked my friend if she had liked her Tuluminati and she went on to describe it as a fruity slushy. On a positive note, I enjoyed the Tuna Crudo Tostadas. They were fresh and the perfect size for a late dinner. The other item on their menu I had to try was the Tres Leches Pound Cake. I wanted to see how dense their dessert would turn out. It had a nice firmness and not soggy at all. This place has potential but I would make tweaks in order to improve their bar selections. It's not hard to find delicious Mexican food in Houston, but to match it with a well done drink can be a challenge.

Yelp
I went here Friday night. Very packed and I didn't make a reservation so def make a reservation because the restaurant is super small and is all outdoors on the patio. The hostess was so kind to put us at a table near the open bar for a party of 3. I ordered their beef cheek and it was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend it! My friend ordered their tamales and another ordered their steak. They did not recommend those dishes. Ambience was great and the bathroom soap smells soooo good I wish I knew where they got their bathroom soap from

Yelp
This place is a vibe. The DJ, the aesthetic, the cocktails *and* good snackies?!?! A must come to, to start or end your night. We had a couple rounds of the Tropic Thunder and Casa Marg, the Queso with chorizo and the Elote. 10/10 recommend. We'll be back next time we're in town, for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
We were a party of 2 on a Saturday night with no reservation. When we walked up to be seated, the hostess informed us that "unfortunately we wouldn't be able to be seated without a reservation" She advised us of standing room in the bar area. While at the bar we inquired about if we'd be able to order food. A very nice guy server was able to seat us at a table. While we were seated I observed multiple empty tables that sat empty for the entire duration of our stay. I would like to know why were denied a table... As far as the food and drinks, we had the tudulum cocktail; for food, the elote and pyramid. Everything was good. The vibe was nice. I would like to give special recognition to Juan Carlos. He was amazing!!!!

Yelp
Came here for dinner Saturday night after googling places to go for a birthday dinner. It's much smaller than I expected, its only an outdoor rectangular patio space, so it's very limited seating. Although there is a roof and it's partially covered with decorations, the inside is a different bar.... The ambiance was nice, but just a few things to note, there was a small bar in the back of the space, but it was only for staff, people couldn't sit there, and the lights were all on kind of killing the vibe if you had to look that way- they should consider making this a space people can sit. Also they have oscillating fans that were blasting us and it wasn't hot outside- we asked if they could turn it away from us but the waitress said the switch was above someone's table and she didn't want to get in their way- so it wasn't super pleasant. But the staff were nice and seemed pretty attentive to everyone. The menu was actually not super exciting to me, there were only a few things I was interested in. It's set up more like a shareable meal. We ended up getting 2 small plates: the tomato salad which was good enough, and the Chile y chapulines which was very flavorful, but for $15 it wasn't much more than a bite each. We also got the lamb shank, which was pretty good, it was a very large portion for 2 people, but it came with a small fennel salad aka some onions & cucumbers covered in fennel, we barely ate that. The cocktails were good & really spicy so that was a plus. Overall although there were some good things, it was a little disappointing, not somewhere I would return. It's cute for cocktails, but it's also in a weird spot surrounded by retail stores & other random stuff, there's just better places to go.

Yelp
We came to Casa Nomad on a Friday evening after snagging a reservation for 5:30. It is absolutely necessary to get one, people were being turned away at the front as there are only about 30 tables in the patio area. The drinks: We had the Tuluminati and Mr. Nice Guy. The Tuluminati was very fruity and tasty and is also frozen. The Mr. Nice Guy was fruity but also refreshing. The food: Here's the great part about this place! We had a little bit of everything as the plates are meant to be shared. The best items that we had were the Elote ribs, Tuna Crudo Tostada, and Ceviche. The Elote was done in such a different way than the traditional take on the meal. It was limey, creamy, and served like a rack of ribs! The Tuna Crudo Tostada was so fresh and had an explosion of flavor when you would eat it. Highly recommend. And the Ceviche was very well done with the chips being very crunchy and a nice addition to the meal. We also had the carnitas tacos and the tamal, still good options but would recommend the previous three. The Dessert: Do. Not. Skip. On. The. CHURROS. These were some of the tastiest churros we've ever had. They were crunchy on the outside but soft and doughy on the inside. The chocolate sauce to dip them in was very rich and paired very well with the churros. Absolutely would come back again!!!

Yelp
The Fish Dish is a must! Tropical fusion is also very refreshing. Elote ribs look cool and have great flavor but it ultimately just corn on the cob which isn't very filling. Atmosphere is very Tulum-esque... a great reminder of our group's recent NYE bender.

Yelp
All vibes, terrible food and management. You can tell this is one of the many restaurants that opened "post" pandemic by someone who has never worked in or ran a restaurant, but relied heavily on Instagram influencers/food bloggers and trendy reels to get people in. Reservations for this place are hard to come by, especially if you want to eat at a decent hour on a weekend. We made reservations 2 weeks in advance and were really excited to give it a try. Upon being seated we noticed the menu was extremely limited. Some of the options you may see on yelp are not available. There were about 7 signature cocktails to choose from. I chose one immediately that caught my eye, but was informed that they ran out of a key ingredient for that drink the day before as well as two other drinks on the menu. So 4 options to choose from. Weird to run out of so many things when a reservation is basically required and booked weeks in advance, but no biggie -- just a drink, so I ordered something that was available. For our appetizer we ordered the elote ribs, and thank goodness we did bc it ended up being the only thing we ate. The entree choices, again super limited. 5 items altogether: Short rib, ribeye, whole fish, and 2 vegan/vegetarian options. I wanted meat/protein so I ordered the short rib and was told for the SECOND time they were out of something. At this point I'm forced to order the fish or huge ribeye, so I chose the fish. The fish comes out and I could immediately smell it was rancid, so I sent it back. The server comes back and apologizes, asks if there is anything else I would like. I see there are carnitas tacos on the appetizer list, kinda hard to mess that up, so I order those only to be told for the THIRD time they were out of something I ordered. Thinking back to when we first walked in, I overheard two tables next to us say this place was disappointing. We should've listened. A manager never came out when the rancid fish was served, pretty standard practice at restaurants when something like that happens, but left the dirty work to the server. Look at the reviews, notice no comments from management. All raving reviews appear to be from influencers or elite yelpers who may get special treatment. Save your time and money, there is a pretty decent ramen spot right across the walkway.

Yelp
Wow am I in Mexico? What a cool vibe! Plenty of vegetarian options! The elote is delicious! Drinks are excellent I recommend the Mayan drink. Shareable portions! Will be back!

Yelp
Don't let social media fool you. This "Tulum Inspired" sidewalk is nothing to rave about. First, this place is just a tent outside of a bustling restaurant called Highland. The drinks and food from the restaurant are disappointing. Place looks nothing like the social media videos. The drinks made with Mezcal were weak and uninspiring. I do not recommend.

Yelp
Ok here's the thing. I wanted to hate this place, it seemed so gimmicky. And I thought the food options looked lack luster. I was wrong. We enjoyed all the food, especially the veggie tamales and corn. Everything is over priced but you know that already. Parking was tough even on a weekday. Oddly there's no "indoor" it's all outdoors which is weird for Houston. Great place for a girls night.

Yelp
Such a cute place! Short rib was some of the best we've had! It was falling off the bone it was so tender. Apparently they just changed their menu, and it's a must try. Wait staff was very friendly, service was prompt, and the fresh cocktails were fantastic!

Yelp
Visited with my husband for our weekly date night, and we absolutely loved it. We went on a Wednesday, so I cannot say how it is on a weekend, but we had reservations and they took us right in and it was only about 2/3 full. The service was 10/10.. our waitress (didn't get her name) was very friendly, and gave her us her recommendations on food and drinks. We ordered the oysters (that had some type of fruit glaze, I can't remember), yuca fries, the fish plate, and the ribeye with the mole sauce.. again, 10/10! For the drinks, I tried the one that had blackberry (again I cannot remember the name), and my husband tried quite a few.. a watermelon, a pineapple carrot and serrano, and one other one. In my opinion, the drinks were good but nothing to rave about. Presentation was nice but some were better than others. Over all, it was a bit pricey, but we'll worth it for the service and food. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I agree with some of the other reviews, the food bloggers definitely made this place seem much better than it was. The entire restaurant is about the size of my Livingroom with maybe 10-15 tables squeezed in (all patio seating). They did a great job with decorating the space they did have though. The dirty rice was the best rice I've ever had. The ranch waters were amazing. The bone-marrow was dry and I could barely use any of it for $19? Tacos didn't disappoint, we got the pork. Servers were nice but seemed understaffed, even though it was only 10-15 tables in the entire place. I could not order drinks fast enough, I started just ordering 2 at a time. I would go back to try again though.

Yelp
This bar gives all of the tropical feels without having to step on a plane! Casa Nomad features a menu filled with Tulum-inspired entrees and also an AMAZING list of signature cocktails. The service was top-tier and the fact that they had fans on the outdoor patio was an extra plus. This is a great place for a girl's night or first date night option. Once you finish up here I highly recommend walking around M-K-T as they have many restaurants, retail, and other businesses around that you can visit to walk off your meal.

Yelp
I finally tried Casa Nomad, after making reservations a month in advance. The entire restaurant is on a small, covered patio with only 11 tables. The ambiance is interesting, because it's sometimes difficult to tell whether you're inside or outside (you're definitely outside - kind of). The food menu has only 10 items total, so picky eaters should definitely be aware. My husband and I eat everything, so we ordered all 4 appetizers to share as our entire meal. Everything we had was tasty. The elote "ribs" were a very unique way to eat corn on the cob. The shrimp ceviche was also a stand-out dish, and Barbacoa tacos were prepared perfectly. The cocktails were all pretty good, too, and definitely unique creations - not just classics. The wine list was interesting, but a bit limited and somewhat pricey. They didn't have any sparkling wine on the menu, which was a shame because we were celebrating on our visit. Casa Nomad would be a great place to come for a quick bite/drink before a concert or play, if it were easier to get a table here. Just compared to other places that need to be booked a month in advance, I would have expected a more impressive meal. Everything at Casa Nomad was good; just not plan-a-month-in-advance kind of good. Hopefully, the restaurant will be more accessible once the hype dies down, because I did enjoy my visit and would love to return.

Yelp
This place is truly a hidden gem. It's small, quaint and gives you that vacation away from home feel. It's like walking into a restaurant in Tulum. I definitely suggest making a reservation b/c they don't have many tables. There is a bar in the back but it's small and doesn't have seats. They are 2 high tables in the back that are first come first serve but they only seat 2. Everything I had was good. The corn ribs and tamales were my favorite.

Yelp
Delicious food, good service and cozy atmosphere. Small but very cute outdoor space. Make reservations in advance as tables are hard to.come by here.

Yelp
Positives- It's a really cool place aesthetically, and the menu seemed interesting. The waiter was very nice, and did well. Came with my wife, we were very excited to try it. Negatives- I ordered the chicken thigh tacos. Even though it isn't mentioned on the menu, the tacos came with a LOT of cilantro (big problem for me, not a big problem for everyone else, but it should be on the menu). The chicken seemed essentially tasteless, desperately needed some seasoning. The tacos were very very small. My wife ordered the beef cheek, it came out cold temperature wise, and she said it had next to no flavor. Neither of us finished our meals, it was just bad. Drinks- I ordered El Diablo, expecting some spice. It was mostly very sweet, not what I hoped for at all. They might figure things out, or maybe we just had a one off bad experience, but we have little to no interest in going back at all unfortunately.

Yelp
Ambiance was perfect felt like a small pop up restaurant, good vibes. Hard to find it's across from the ramen restaurant. It's situated in a new development off of I-10 on the perimeter of the Heights, access isn't the best. They just changed the menu to new items. We got the tuna tostadas the best thing we had, ceviche was good, the corn was good. The Barbacoa tacos are miniature in size and only comes with a little meat, no salsa, no cilantro no toppings. The mole chicken we were disappointed in, it was on a some rice and it was chicken with mole sauce, very generic. The drinks are really good especially the frozen margarita..

Yelp
Beautiful ambience!! Went for dinner and was very amazed at the chill boho tulum vibes this place offers. My waiter Juan Carlos and the hostess Natalie were so accommodating, 5 stars for the service! It was chilly outside (seating is all outdoors btw), but they made sure the heating lamp were on, so it felt perfect. We loved the tuna tostada and bone marrow! They also have a variety of delicious cocktails I want to come back to try them all. Thanks for the great dining experience, we will be back :)

Yelp
Had date night here and I really enjoyed the vibe. Was very chill and our server Juan Carlos was very helpful. We had seen reviews prior to coming here, but showed up with an open mind. I'm glad we did, because we were pleased with the experience. I really enjoyed my drink "El Diablo".

Yelp
Came for drinks and snacks. Great food and an awesome vibe. Beware, only outside seating-although it is heated and covered! Vibes seriously feel like you are in tulum. This place is perfect if you like tequila.

Yelp
Please make sure to make a reservation. It's a small place, and they won't really accommodate walk-ins. Ok let's talk about the drinks and the food...I had a glass of Mr. Nice Guy...it was alright. I could just taste the lemon juice and for $14 it's a not big cocktail. It was maybe 3-4 ounces. I also had the frozen drink Tudulum, it was better than the other cocktail. For app, I had the ceviche. It was really nice. I think the fish was yellow tail. Nice and citrusy with home made chips. Pretty small portion size. For my entree, I had the New York strip. I asked for a medium, the outside of the steak was burnt. Hollandaise was really sour. Didn't like it. I really don't think worth the price and the hype.
