Casas da Lapa, Nature & Spa Hotel

Beautiful! Serene! Welcoming! Relaxing! Delicious! These are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think about staying at Casas Da Lapa. We booked for one night while visiting Serra da Estrela Park and after visiting wish we had planned for an additional night or two because it was an extraordinary experience. The accommodations are of a modern-minimalist design but luxurious. The food for dinner and breakfast was bountiful and tasty. Highly recommend!

Lovely experience, the staff is so amazing, the place is impeccable, the room was gorgeous. The gluten-free request was so attentive. The lovely tea time snacks were so good - what a lovely detail for the guests. Can’t just say anything better than a wonderful experience.

Our experience at Casas da Lapa, Nature & Spa Hotel was underwhelming, especially considering the price point. The organization was poor, making it difficult to enjoy what was meant to be a relaxing getaway. Contacting the reception was a constant challenge, with long wait times and, at times, no response at all. Additionally, there were conflicting pieces of information regarding the use of the hotel’s facilities, which created unnecessary confusion.||The extra beds provided were extremely uncomfortable, making it almost impossible to rest properly. For a hotel positioning itself as a luxury retreat, such basic shortcomings are unacceptable.||While the setting is undoubtedly beautiful, the overall lack of attention to detail and subpar service quality left us disappointed. Unfortunately, the experience did not justify the cost, and we wouldn’t recommend this property to others seeking a premium hospitality experience.

I would give 6 stars if I could! This hotel is really something special. The rooms are very nice and with a special layout. We had room number 1. The breakfast is great and everything is made fresh (no buffet). The dinner is very good, but it is a fixed menu at 45.- Euro per person including the wine. This is a fair price for the quality you get. We stayed here for 3 nights and had dinner at the hotel every evening, we did not regret this at all. A little bit special is the indoor pool and sauna. You have to make a reservation in advance, then you can use it privately for one hour. This is free of charge. In case the hotel is not busy they might accept a reservation for two hours. We did not try the outdoor pools, since it was already too cold. If you want to go hiking you should do the 2.5 hours loop hike which starts directly at the hotel. It goes up and down quite a bit and sometimes you have to climb over some rocks. It is a nice hike and you will be more or less by yourself (in October). One important information: On the last about 300 meters to the hotel the road is very narrow at some places and you have to take some tight turns. For a regular car it is no problem, but you have to drive carefully and on a wide car you might have to fold in your mirrors.

We drove 3 hrs across the narrow winding lanes of Guarda, 1,900m above sea level to come to Casa da Lapa. The last 300m up the hill to this hotel was a feat for us city folks from urban Asia. But it was all worth it. The sense of ownership of the staff in this hotel mirrored the owner Maria. We were all treated like their family members. It gave us so much warmth in the 2°C winter night. We skipped lunch to make it here from Evora but their kitchen couldn't produce the dinner earlier than 730pm so they brought us cakes and port and tea in a warm lounge. The decor of the hotel is equally thoughtful. Every corner, every sheet, every painting or sculpture was clearly placed as if the owner was decorating her own home. Likewise the food, though wasn't a michelin spread, was full of local soil flavor as well as individual expression of beauty. The whole experience was indescribable. u have to come stay here to understand what I am struggling to explain. We stayed in 13 hotels in 13Ns, and it wasn't the Four Seasons nor W that wowed us, it was Casa da Lapa.

We spent a blissful, relaxed week at Casas da Lapa and were bowled over by the amazing service. Everyone was so warm and could not do enough to ensure our stay was comfortable. Breakfasts were completely delicious - homemade bread, pastels de nata, omlette, fruit etc. We loved the early morning mists, the mountain walks among the goats, the stunning views and daily yoga by the pool. Highly recommend.

It's such a pleasure to rate this extraordinary place where we stayed for 3 nights . The room itself was immaculate and super comfortable. The facilities is in great standard, very well equipped and pleasant I had a back injury and hence was stranded in the room , the owner Maria-Manuel has personally taken me to the hospital and took great care of me during the process including  helping me get medications, and the staff bringing food to the room and taking care of all our needs in a very gentle kind and friendly manner. Later when we looked for an easily  accessible shower the owner upgraded us to a suite that has an accessible shower. I couldn't  even dream of such a caring and compassionate service🏆 The staff was super accommodating and friendly and the rest of the amenities were gorgeous In spite of our circumstances we genuinely enjoyed this hotel's extraordinary hospitality and warmth. 🥂 Thank you !

Very charming Hotel in one of the most beautiful mountains towns in Serra da Estrela. The best part is the sun beds on the rooftops overviewing the mountain landscape. The team was excellent, very friendly and always giving us all extra treats with a warm smile. Right next to our room was a hidden waterfalls for fresh cold showers in the Morning. Our dog was welcome and happy as well. We would have loved some more vegetarian and vegan options for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was amazing since they customized us some yummy vegan/vegetarian options. Would highly recommend and come back!
