The 16 Best Restaurants in Mountain View - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The tapas at Cascal are top-notch any day of the week, but we love going on the weekends when the live latin music turns dinner at this colorful, eclectically decorated Spanish spot into a full-on party.  Start with drinks (the “guavarita” with fresh guava puree, tequila, lime, and agave is refreshing and fruity), then go for the mojo-marinated Cuban pork. If you're dining with a group, don’t skip the paella Cascal, topped with a mountain of chicken, pork, sausage, and shellfish. Gluten-free dishes are clearly marked and comprise much of the menu, so it’s an ideal spot for wheat-averse folks." - gabi moskowitz

The food here tastes good. The meat is tender, the vegetables are so fresh, and so does the service. But it is not reasonable to charge 3% wage and welfare from the customers, it should be the owner’s responsibility instead of the customers. The tips are also charged based on the value of the after tax including 3% wage and welfare. You’d better pay close attention to your bills.

Been there a couple of times and tried different tapas and never disappointed. We had ceviche trio, grilled meat combo and seafood paella with lobster this time … You can taste the freshness and good quality of the ingredients. Grilled pork loin and lamb rib are very well seasoned and tender. Three of us order large seafood paella and we can only finish half of it because there is more seafood than rice . It is our all time favorite dish .

Google
Best Paella in the Bay Area! The atmosphere is great—quiet, cozy, and beautifully decorated. The popular lobster paella is loaded with seafood, super flavorful, and comes in a huge portion. It’s a little on the salty side, but nothing that some ice water can’t fix! 😂 The grilled lamb chops are also amazing—super tender and juicy. I’ll definitely be back!

Awesome service, great food! Salmon ceviche is the best! Various tapas to choose from, or you can order a sampler which we did. The outdoor patio is nice and with big sun umbrella you don’t have to worry about getting too much sun exposure.

The environment and service were good. However, food is a bit plain in taste. We tried the paella, leaf chicke, and eggplant. They look special but the flavors were not memorable. A bit pricey overall.

Google
It was a very nice atmosphere with a live band playing. The food is great. I thought the tapas would be small plates, but honestly those portions could be shared with four people. Got a go box home. The fresh burrata was amazing. Sangria was good but not particularly strong. The music is loud so if you want to have deep Conversation it would be better to sit outside on patio.

So many vegetarian options!!! Sat at the bar for date night, has phenomenal service. Food was amazing and drinks were delicious. Great vibe inside and out. Will definitely be back.

Google
a really great restaurant. wonderful food, waiters, and locale. try the samplers: tapas, ceviche, cheese. more than enough for four and lots of tasty things. see if you can get seats outside.

Yelp
Have been coming to cascal for many years and usually have an enjoyable and satisfying experiences but today it was far from that. We most likely won't be back any time soon if at all . But hope to possibly help change the experience for other customers in a positive way, through this review . We were greatly promptly by Magdalena the manager and despite not having reservations, we were taken to a table right away. As she was seating us I politely asked if it was possible could we seat at another table the was at the corner not to far from where she was seating us originally. I was just trying to have a little more space between the other table that was sat since it was too close to us and we had a 4 year old that talks a lot . Magdalena proceeded to reply bluntly "no it is reserved!" . I reply oh ok and proceed to ask my sister for the time since it through me off that it was reserved and it was 4 pm, and there was only three tables in used in the entire restaurant. My sister ask me why ask and I said just wondering since she said the table is reserved, during our conversation Magdalena was placing menus down . She interrupted with a loud tone and said "the reservation is at 5 pm you can use it if you get up by then" for which I replied no it is ok . She then left and my young daughter mentioned " you saw how she looked at her (meaning my sister), she was really mean". My sister explained how she looked at her and everyone at the table notice her tone my sister mentioned her attitude had ruined her appetite and I felt the same way. My other sister mentioned let's go somewhere else where they are not rude but it was my husband birthday celebration and he really wanted to go there, as it is one of his favorite places for paella. I calmed them down despite being very uncomfortable as well. We just stayed but it just didn't feel right after that interaction and at this point keep thinking I should have left and taken our money (About $380 for party of 5) else where . I do want to mention that the server on the other hand was great, he took our order promptly and checked on us constantly . Rating just for service would had been 4 starts, since $5 dollars for hot sauce is excessive and we didn't need soo much of it and it would have been fine if price was mentioned. Food was just ok, the shrimp cocktail ceviche lacked flavor and the cheese platter was not the best. The paellas were good, churrasco portion is small but tasty . Drinks were just ok. Three of us at the table have worked in the restaurant for many years, I personally grainy hundreds in hospitality and we couldn't believe a manager would treat guest like that and what is worse is that even a 9 year old child noticed it . It is extremely sad to see how good quality restaurant hire personnel that are not passionate about hospitality or are not trained properly. I really hope this review helps improve service or training because no other customers should have such a disappointing dinning experience coming from the one person who should be setting the example to follow for her staff. By the way the manager immediately went to talk to the host and although I don't know this for sure, most likely mentioned to seat someone at the table we wanted to cover up that she says it was reserved. I have been to cascal numerous times and made reservations on open table and never get a choice to reserve a specific table. The host proceded to set up the table with menus a little after their interaction, which they never do because they usually give you menus as you get sat . Just clarify the table did get sat as we are leaving at 5:10 so we could have used it with no issue.

Yelp
This was my second visit to Cascal and it was just as memorable as the first. Their service is excellent. Their servers are attentive, knowledgeable and warm. We were seated outside with our dog and they promptly brought our group of four water and a basket of bread. We enjoyed the sangria very much and the food as well. We recently took a trip to Spain and we felt the food was comparable to the food we enjoyed there.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Sunday and were seated quickly. Two people shared 4 plates: goat cheese salad, potato gratin, grilled dates, and sizzling shrimp. All dishes were very tasty but so expensive for the portion size. I also found the service somewhat lacking, there was a long wait between our first two dishes and the last two. It took a while to flag down a waiter to get a water refill as well. This is a good place to go if you want a light meal, but if you come here starving expect to leave with an empty wallet.

Yelp
Nice tapas restaurant in downtown MV with nearby parking. Service was good and dishes were yummy. We sat outside under a heat lamp and were very comfortable. We had papas, ham croquettes, guacamole and chips and banana leaf wrapped chicken. All quite tasty. Portions were on the smaller side but filling nonetheless.

Yelp
Another great experience at Cascal. The mojito martini is really great. Our waitress was a delight to talk with. She was right about the patatas bravas, authentic! The goat cheese salad, lamb meatballs and roasted cauliflower were all good. This restaurant has always been consistently good. We have been going here for years. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Food 4/5 Ever since I was introduced to the real delicious paella and patatas bravas in Spain Barcelona more than a decade ago, I have tried many places in the bay and also those up in SF city. Cascal has been one of the two go-to restaurants here in the bay whenever I crave paella. Their Marinara paella has been consistently flavorful while the Cascal paella can sometimes be a hit and miss in terms of taste. There were times when it was a tad bland and other times they came out more flavorful. The only thing I need to constantly remind them is to make the it more soccarat (scorched/burnt bottom). Socarrat is considered a key element of a good paella, as it adds a unique texture and flavor to the dish. Last night's visit was a let down when it comes to the Marinara paella. It didn't come out soccarat at all- in fact too damp/soggy in my opinion. My family loves their wild mushroom with truffle oil empanadas. Again was a little disappointed with this dish yesterday as I felt the dough crust was a little too thick this time. They used to be buttery and flaky in the past. I wonder if that's the reason why the overall rating has been low - due to the inconsistency in the dishes. The palm salad was alright. Nothing to special. Their Peruvian cerviche was a hit among our family members. The others on the trip sampler was just alright. Service - 3.5/5 Friendly server though the guy forgot to serve the complimentary dessert as a surprise to the birthday person on our table. We decided not to pursue as it was late and we still have a birthday cake waiting at home. Ambiance 5/5 upscale, modern nice decor. If you like to dine, have some live music, and dance (on their super small) dance floor next to the band like me. If you are looking for a place for quiet fine dining, this is not the place you want to go on weekends.

Yelp
Hadn't been here for a few years but seized the opportunity for a recent businesss dinner. Ordered the adobo beef (the inheritor of the short rib adobo legacy I'm told) plus the octopus and the crab tostada. Of these the octopus was the magical winner(the texture and sauce!), the beef was as fantastic as I remember the short rib, and the tostada was decent. Would love to go back and explore the menu more. It was quite lively in there and or noisy AF but I managed to shout moderately so we could converse.

Yelp
Here is a place that I have not been to in a really long time. Been about a decade at least, so we wanted to try out cascal again. It wasn't very busy when we arrived so we were seated right away. Service was really good and attentive. Happy hour food looked good so we tried various items on it. Fried olives sounded interesting so we got that. They were just okay. Patatas bravas were good and one of my favorites. Roasted cauliflower was good too and very flavorful. Fried calamari was just okay to me, I usually like it more on the crunchy side. Croquetas de jamon were just okay. For the paellas we tried both the cascal and the seasonal vegetable one. I liked the cascal one a lot since it was very flavorful.

Yelp
Here for work dinner as a party of 8 and this place was packed. We ordered pitchers of red sangria - I believe each pitcher gave us about 5 glasses worth. I got the mushroom empanadas which were SO good, highly recommend. It did take 30 mins or so to come out, but they were fresh and hot. Shishito peppers for the table which were yummy and well roasted. For dinner, I got the banana leaf chicken. I wish this was served on a slightly bigger plate as it was a bit hard to eat, but the chicken was delicious. It was more of a curry with rice served on top and was so flavorful and juicy.

Yelp
I had an $18 chicken wrap off the lunch special menu, which I believe is the cheapest entree you can get. It was half the size of a Chipotle burrito. It had a good amount of chicken in it and I thought it was tasty. In comparison, the $39 lamb is three tiny lamb lollipops. The paella was pretty good and they didn't skimp on the protein. I think the best value for money would be to split a paella with one other person.

Yelp
Oh, man. Hands down my favorite place for tapas in the world (and I've been to Barcelona -- twice)! My son and I stumbled across this place back in the summer of 2024. I raved about it so much to the rest of the family afterwards that I started to worry I was overhyping it. But no, thankfully it was as good as I remembered, now a year later, and it got their thumbs up as well. We got the Spanish Tapa Sampler (an absolute must), the Paella Marinera, and the Fried Calamari. I of course had the red Sangria, and we also had a Virgin Mojito and raspberry Caipirinha. An order of the sampler has two pieces of almost everything, except the shrimp stuffed egg for some reason. So be prepared to fight for it. On the pricey side, but it was SO worth the hour-long drive there and (thanks to rush-hour traffic) the two-hour drive back!!

Yelp
Great food, great live music, and amazing atmosphere if you want to come for a small get together or date night. The restaurant is a tad dark and music can get a little loud(not in a bad way), so conversations are kind of hard to have, but the vibes are immaculate. The food here is AMAZING. everytime we come here, we always have to get the mushroom empanadas. They have the right amount of mushrooms and breading. Paella cascal tip: ask for them to cook the bottom more to have the rice crispy, it's a game changer Patatas bravos- really good if you like potatoes, wish they added more of the aioli or mayo Ceviche trio- I personally like the Peruvian ceviche a lot, so next time I think I will only order that. The trio is refreshing if you want to try all of them. Salad: whatever dressing they use is AMAZING. The servers here are easy to call for, and they are so helpful. They explain the menu if you don't know what to order

Yelp
Happy hour starting at 3:30 pm. Enjoy Spanish tapas (fried olives, ham croquettes, fried cauliflower) and Tamarind Margarita is strongly recommended. Friendly customer service.

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner there before going to Theatre works just down the block. My dining companion is vegan and their menu and wait staff were very accommodating. I had the curried mussels which were delicious although a bit too sweet for me. Their Spanish Caesar salad was fresh and delicious.

Yelp
Food was ok , nothing wow..... or I want more of this.....presentation was nice and portions for a tapas, was good , you can share it. The bread and the dipping sauce was good. We got octopus (over cooked and dificultad to chew) croquetas de jamón ( my favorite) , eggplant, we asked for lamb albóndigas and we got lamb chop server asked to changed it but I really don't like to waste food (so many hungry people in the world to waste what we have in the table) and tortilla española (potato omelette). The waitress was very nice and attentive, she and the busser made the experience enjoyable. Decor are kind of old and out dated maybe need some change and go with the new and modern time. Probably I don't coming back.

Yelp
I love some good tapas and paella and this restaurant has some good options. This restaurant is in a cute spot and has plenty of TV's plus a bar if you want to eat and watch a game, but also has room for tables to enjoy your meal. It's very spacious inside and they have outdoor seating's with heat lamps. We came here for lunch and wanted some paella and to try a couple small items. We ordered one tapas, the Spanish Octopus ($25.50) and the Peruvian ceviche ($19.50) as starters. The octopus was delicious! It has a nice seasoning and sauce plus it was cooked very well. It's just one leg so I felt like when sharing with everyone, I needed more. I think this is a must to order when coming here. When we ordered the paella, we wanted the Arroz Negro paella ($36) as it was a speciality. The only issue is that it shows as one size. We tried to talk to our waitress asking if we can get it in the large size since there were four of us and we can eat. She was not very helpful and tried to offer us a different paella that had similar proteins but not the squid ink if we wanted a large size. We had explained that we would pay for the large size price if necessary and she showed her impatience with us by giving a little attitude. In the end, we were able to order the Arroz Negro which was our favorite dish of the meal. For the other paella, we ordered the Paella Cascal ($42 for small & $64 for large) which came with lots of protein from poultry to seafood. We felt that this paella's proteins were a little dry especially with the chicken and pork. The flavor was good but the dry meat didn't make the paella taste as well. Overall, there were a mix of things that we liked and didn't like. The Arroz Negro paella and the Spanish Octopus are a must to try. The ceviche was good, but nothing special in my opinion. I would definitely want the Arroz Negro and octopus when I come back.

Yelp
Food was awesome, great Spanish food, I give it 4.5/5. Loved the paella especially. The meats we got were are tender and cooked very well. I loved the soup as well (forgot what exactly I ordered :'( ). But overall, I rly liked the ambience with the music playing. We chose to sit outside for the nice fresh air. The service was great, servers were very nice.

Yelp
Great place! Ordered jalapeno margaritas, so yummy! Good alcohol. Atmosphere is laid back, but vibrant. Food is yummy. Ordered the catch of the day, truffle empanadas. The veggies with the fish were so fresh and the fish was yummy too. Service was fine. Nothing extraordinary, nor bad. It's decent. The desserts were fine. The chocolate cake was nice. Tres leches was too sweet for my liking.

Yelp
This 5 Star rating is for their lunch menu only. We have gone there for dinner and it was good but value per tapas item just didn't rise to 5 Stars . Though the restaurant is beautiful inside the outside ambiance is just okay. If you are looking for a pretty nice restaurant for a business type lunch, then this might be your spot. Our food was amazingly good and service was good. Might be because the restaurant wasn't extremely busy !? Even though it was quite delicious and enjoyable. Cost is on the higher side but still reasonable for a nice business lunch meet up.
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
The food was delicious but we ordered the lemon tarts for dessert and assumed that they were lemon (one would think that lemon tarts were made with lemon!) but they were actually lemon and mango tarts. This I only found out when I called the restaurant from the emergency room where I had to take my husband, who is violently allergic to mangoes. We would not have ordered the tarts if we had known. That was years ago and we have not gone back because I don't trust the menu to be accurate and don't want to spend more time in emergency rooms!

Yelp
We had a lovely business lunch at Cascal. Our group of 10 enjoyed the tapas plates as well as various salads. I especially love their salmon. The portion is generous and cooked to perfection. Service was fast and friendly. Additionally, we were confused by the tip for our group and didn't realize it had already been added to our bill. When we mistakenly added it again, the cashier was, helpful and pointed out that it had already been included. We were grateful for their honesty. Parking is convenient with a lot around the corner. Also, there's indoor and outdoor dining: both are quite comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of food and service.
google avatar

Mel C.

Yelp
I like the food! The quality is consistent for sure. The service is good in general, but they need more training when the server delivers the dishes. They just leave it anywhere on the table (for a couple of dishes they just leave them at the edge of the table) without helping you to arrange the table. This really got me to roll my eyes. Other than that, the ambiance is great, the restaurant is not crowded, the vibe is casual and easy. The AC is strong which is super important when the outside is 101 degrees! LOL... I like the Oaxaca a manor salad, sizzling shrimp and fresh dungeness crab brandada. The banana leaf chicken is a bit dry although the sauce is great. There are music performances on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30pm. I definitely want my coming back to check that out!

Yelp
Nice place to celebrate a birthday! We made a reservation for 4 for Saturday night just after 6. Plenty of indoor and outdoor tables. It did get pretty busy after 7. We ordered the tapas sampler, mushroom empanadas, roasted cauliflower, oaxaca salad, and a small seafood paella. The tapas sampler was delightful and a good choice if you have no idea but want to try everything. My favorite was the fried olive with roasted shishito pepper and spanish sausage. The mushroom empanadas were baked and nongreasy. Nice hints of truffle oil and pipin' hot The oaxaca salad was not what I had expected, which was more greens, but we still enjoyed it! The main course was the seafood paella, which we all love! Plenty of seafood, fresh and tender. The rice was flavorful without being too salty. Good thing we got the small Paella because we barely finished everything Our waiter was attentive and professional. At the end he brought out a slice of birthday cake for my mom. The cake itself was a little to sweet for us, but my mom really like the special celebration! Ambiance: romantic Parking: no issues. There is a free public lot just around the corner! My parents say next time they want to come a bit later because the live music starts at 7!

Yelp
Cascal is currently my favourite Spanish restaurant. Every time I visit, I enjoy such a wonderful experience that I long to return right away. The restaurant is located on the corner of Castro and California Streets in downtown Mountain View. They don't have a private parking lot, but are within walking distance from a public garage. Sometimes, nearby free street parking can be scored. The venue is lively with an outdoor patio for open air dining. As I write this review, I realize that I have never actually been inside the eatery as all of my visits have been al fresco. According to their website, they have live music every Friday and Saturday from 7:30-10pm during which dancing is encouraged. Noted - must come back on one of those nights with Auntie Marissa and Mom! Cascal specializes in exotic cocktails, tapas, and paellas, fusing the savoury flavours of Spain with the rich and bold tastes of Latin America. The result is a menu full of bold essences that entice you. Below are a few items that we ordered during my last visit: Red House Sangria ($13) - Good. Not dry at all. Crab Tostaditos ($29) - DELISH! The Dungeness crab tastes so fresh! This is a perfect summer dish. Thankfully, they offer this tapa all year round. Pork Chile Verde ($31) - ¡Qué rico! I don't eat pork much, but this green chile stew, full of big chunks of meat, is so flavourful that I could probably eat it everyday. The pork shoulder is pretty lean which also adds to the awesomeness of this delectable bowl. Sizzling Shrimp ($21.50) - Guys, this is a must-try, especially if you like shrimp and garlic, because even the smallest bite is packed with irresistible piquancy. Spanish chorizo (Listed as one of the pintxos offered in the Spanish Tapa Sampler or as an add-on to the Spanish Tortilla for $16) - This bowl of sliced sausage serves up a nice smoky punch of pimentón (smoked paprika). Patatas bravas ($12) - This is a great side to complement the Spanish chorizo. Service is excellent at Cascal. On the night of my most recent visit on Thursday, September 12, 2024, our party of seven arrived shortly before close (I'm talking minutes, definitely less than half an hour), hoping to have some food and drinks. The host told us that the kitchen was already closed, but checked with the cooks and came back, saying that since they were still roasting pork, they could still whip up some quick orders and serve us. The waiters assisted us with friendly enthusiasm and warm smiles and, of course, our libations and plates came out in a jiffy. It doesn't get better than this! ¿Nos vemos allí?

Yelp
The paella is to die for! Honestly one of my fav paella ! The meat was super tender, they did not skimp out on the ingredients. The flavor profile was to chef's kiss. WARNING: expect to wait around 30 mins bc they make it to order. The other tapas were mid tho. Got the patatas bravas. Did not love the aioli sauce that came with it. The service was amazing. Servers were attentive. They had tons of patio space with heaters too.

Yelp
I went to Cascal for happy hour with my coworkers and had a great time. I have to say, the fried olives were a hit! The texture was so crunchy and they were delicious. The ambiance at Cascal is so lovely. I really appreciate the vibe and energy of the place.

Yelp
My mom loves paella, so we've been on a paella hunt ever since our favorite closed up in Napa. Passed by Cascal on a whim, and decided to try it the following week. It's in downtown Mountain View, but by the end. So parking is fairly easier there. Plenty of outdoor seating and indoor seating. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well for any questions we had. The menu has a great array of different tapas and appetizers! -peruvian seafood stew ($41): as soon as we sat down, my mom zoned in on this and was immediately intrigued. So of course we had to order it for her. The seafood was very tender, and the soup was very tasty with a little bite to it. Almost curry like soup Very delicious! -paella Cascal (large for $63.50): this is the seafood and meat paella. We asked them to cook it longer so we could get the crispy/caramelized rice at the bottom, which they were happy to oblige. The meat and seafood were extremely tender too! Was very pleasantly surprised as usually the chicken in paellas I've had has been on the drier side. The pork belly pieces were my favorite though. I think a lemon slice or a little aioli could have gone a long way as the paella is on the heavier tasting side. -octopus ($25.50): octopus was also great! So tender we could cut it with our fork! The only issue was I wasn't the biggest fan of the tomato sauce all over, but still very delicious. Well done dish -croquetas de jamon ($15.50): the croquetas were so delicious. Like a guilty pleasure of mine. Not much jamon I saw in it, but the flavor of the whole croqueta was so good. Even my parents, who usually try to not eat too many fried carbs, could've kept eating it. Overall, would definitely come again. Same with my parents as well. My mom said it's her favorite paella place in the bay area currently. She was also looking up the happy hour times since she works nearby! It is on the pricier side, but the food quality is well worth it.

Yelp
It's was nice restaurant with a nice interior and ambiance, nicely decorated and spotless. Stuff was super friendly, it's was my first time in Spanish restaurant like this and they have patiently walked me through the menu, I was little hesitant to get this type of dosh where there are too many main ingredients mixed up together, but to be honest it was a worth to try, it's was so delicious. We also got a sampler plate and one small beer. The sample plate had interesting combinations like bacon wrapped over dates that I have never ate before. Highly recommend place to go, I would love to visit next time as well to try their other dishes.

Yelp
(Mountain View )Food: Cuban wrap: 9/10 very flavorful with every bite. Everything blended well with the Cuban pork. The sauce makes it much better Wild mushroom empanadas: 9/10I normally don't like mushroom but this is a must try. You can definitely taste/smell the truffle which I love. Cheese is creamy and the outer layer is crunchy. It is very pricey just fyi Coctel de camarones: 7/10 had too many ceviche to compare. Lacks flavor. Wish there were more lime. The quality of shrimp was spot on though Setting: great indoor/outdoor sittings for group/date/solo. Great ambiance. I know there's live music on some days. It does get full pretty fast past 6pm so definitely recommend reservations especially for a large party Service: friendly staff and accommodating with needs Price: it is on the pricier range but I love the variety of many different Spanish influences in the dish/drinks. Will definitely come back

Yelp
I remember when Cascal opened many years ago but hadn't eaten there until recently. I started a new job a few months ago and our team had our holiday dinner here. Parking was easy. There's a large open lot one street over and several garages close by. Decor is dim and moody with a cozy dining area and festive bar. This particular night was packed with large groups celebrating the holidays. We sat at a round table which allowed us all to chat easily. It is noisy when the room is full but not so noisy that we couldn't hear each other. Service was excellent. Very attentive and they cleared empty plates quickly to make room for more as we ordered multiple tapas and they kept coming! I can't remember everything that was ordered but here's a few: Tapas Sampler - loaded with small beautiful bites. Perfect way to start. Empanadas - this was hands down my favorite. Flavor of the mushrooms was delicious! Chips and 3 Dips - guac was really good! Ceviche - we had 2 kinds and it was fresh and tasty. Scampi - this was just okay. Burrata - yum! The tomatoes and creamy cheese is always a winning combo. Seafood Paella - I had high hopes for this but it was just okay. I think a good squeeze of lemon would have brightened the dish a bit. But there was plenty of seafood and the rice was cooked perfectly. Dessert - we ordered four desserts to share between 7 of us. I'm not sure what they all were but the cheesecake was my favorite. Overall this place was tasty and the service was great. Not sure it's somewhere I'd rush back to but I'd probably pop in to grab a bite and a beverage at the bar if in the area.

Yelp
It was my first time in this place and I loved it! Tried their seafood paella, garlic prawns, cauliflower and eggplant appetizers and everything was so good! Their paella is my favorite paella so far! Better than the ones I've tried in Spain! I'd say they cook authentic Spanish food! I'd love to come back again. They serve different kinds of wine from different countries and the service is also good. Also, I love the high ceilings and the ambiance overall.

Yelp
The flavor of the paella was great and it came with a good amount of meat! However the rice felt uncooked in some parts and was way too hard. It was very hard to flag down a server since they weren't really nearby. The servers were very nice and took the time to answer any questions about the menu. The restaurant is bit loud with all the music playing in the back even though it wasn't too busy. There's a lot of seating in there and they can arrange for large groups for reservations which is nice.

Yelp
We went back after a few years to this place, and a few of my favorite things were missing from the menu, and those were very famous and highly appreciated by people. Still, we find a few new things; people who love chicken dishes can be disappointed because few choices are left on the menu. The first person who served us at the table was sad, but that could be that particular day for him. Then, our Hostess came and brightened our day. Esmarelda was very sweet and familiar with the menu and little details. I started my food with black bean soup, which was delicious. The rest of the tapas were good, too, especially the lamb chops. Birthday cake trees leche were decorated with little cards. Thankful to our hostess, who thoroughly enjoyed her work. I highly recommend it, but please make a reservation even on weekdays

Yelp
Finally a local spot that serves good paella! I enjoy the paella with octopus ink; I do wish they offered it in the bigger size. I had another paella with chicken, and I do feel that the chicken was a bit dry. The food is definitely quite pricey, which is to be expected with paella and for a restaurant with luxury decorations. The service is great! Our waitress was friendly and answered all our questions. There's plenty of parking available. Overall, I recommend trying this place! Worth an experience for paella.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour with a group of 6 and got a couple rounds of drinks and food. We got there before the restaurant got too busy so was able to get a couple orders in. Once the restaurant started getting the regular dinner crowd it was harder to flag down the staff. Overall had a decent experience and would consider going back for happy hour and their paella. We ordered almost all the items on the happy hour and I'd say the calamari and fried shrimp and roasted cauliflowers were my favorites. The other items were also good but some were a bit on the saltier side for me. As for drinks, the table favorite was the guavarita! We ordered a couple rounds of them since we all enjoyed it so much. Overall, great place to check out for their happy hour and dinner options like Paella!

Yelp
An amazing experience. We were immediately seated for our 6pm reservation. Mid week early dinner really didn't need reservations at this time. Being my first time to Cascal, better safe to have reservations. The dining room is large and plenty of spaces between tables. We started with a pitcher of red sangria and tapas samples. Yum! We eventually shared paella and a pork dish. Too much food for three people. Not a bad problem to have. I recommend Cascal for those that enjoy Spanish tapas, paella, and sangria. You'll love Cascal!

Yelp
The bread and the dip sauce were actually pretty good -- that's the only nice thing I can say. We ordered a steak and a chicken salad, and both were incredibly disappointing. The steak had no flavor at all, and the chicken salad tasted like something from a gas station. For dessert, we got the soufflé -- it came out cold inside. A total disaster from main course to dessert. Definitely won't be coming back. The ambience was fine. the service was good.

Yelp

Yelp
Came on a Friday evening with some friends and had a lot of fun. There was good live music and a lot of people dancing. We opted to sit outside so we could hear each other better although we were placed by the door so there were still some challenges hearing each other. Food was good, not amazing. Service was a little slow. Overall, a fun place to be, but not a foodie destination. Croquetas de jamón - tasty and crispy! not a lot of jamon though Guac and chips - standard fare that I'd skip Peruvian ceviche - not bad, but I prefer the ceviche at other restaurants more Paella de cascal - a bit salty and rice a bit mushier than I'd like with no socarrat but tasty enough for an arroz. our waiter recommended we get the large for 4 women, and it was too much food with all the other things we got. Tres leches cake - quite moist and not overly sweet

Yelp
Food was ok here. I came here with a group of friends for dinner. I ordered the ceviche and it was a small cup. Service was great though, our server checked in multiple times. This place is pricey as well. There was a live music and people dancing on their small dance floor.

Yelp
I would've given it 4/5 stars however first time going there and it was horrible. We were early to our reservation, they had a table which was great and sat us right away. We sat about 15 minutes and nothing. Saw a person that I thought was our server but didn't acknowledge us at all. Went around a few times around our table but nothing. I had to get up to ask who our server was and a shift lead or even might be a hostess apologized and told us our waiter was backed up outside. She took our drink and food orders. During our dinner, our drinks came out and food came out however still no sign of an actual server. No one came to check on us, refill our water. It was like a feee for all on who will get to our table first. Everyone else around us got service but our table. When it came to try to get the bill, honestly we could've just got up and left but we're not Ike that. Had to flag someone down, again. I really wanted to like this place for the service as well but it was not it. The food (esp the paella) and the ambiance though with the live music on Saturday night was lovely. Service is bleh.

Yelp
Celebrating Galentine's is a yearly tradition with my work bestie. We went to Cascal this year and it's packed even on weeknights! Secured a reservation on Open Table. Love the energy & vibes! I heard there's live music on weekends. Vibrant interior and cozy heated patio seating. Drinks: *Cascal Mojito *Guavarita Eats: *Wild Mushroom Empanadas *Tapas Sampler Platter *Churrasco flat iron steak + fried yucca *Banana Leaf Chicken Empanadas smelled so good! Fragrant in truffle oil as soon as I sliced it in half. The tapas sampler is MASSIVE! Two portions of the following pintxos: Serrano ham Cured salmon Chicken liver mousse Tuna crostini Fried shrimp Serrano ham croquette Spanish chorizo with fried olives & shishito peppers Date brochette Spanish cheese wrapped in salami Shrimp stuffed egg Roasted sweet red peppers & pickled veggies Churrasco steak was delicious & tender even when we were so full of pintxos-- that's how you know it's amazing! Topped with Cabrales cheese butter & chimichurri Banana leaf chicken reminded me of something my Mom cooked recently. Basically anything with tomato paste & chicken reminds me of afritada. Wait staff was prompt and waters refilled when needed. Refreshing drinks, delicious food, and fun convo-- all you need for a much needed Girls Night Out!

Yelp
Definitely recommend the paella here. The sampler platter, like most tasting ensembles, doesn't live up to the cost or expectations. I would suggest ordering individual tapa platters. Great vibes, good for friend and family gatherings

Yelp
I had wanted to visit this place since the early 2000s, but coordinating a date and time that fit my work and personal schedule was a challenge. One day, while my husband and I were driving around downtown Mountain View, I mentioned my interest in dining at this location, and we decided to go. The experience was truly amazing! We received excellent customer service, from our drinks (a Paloma Spritz and a Mango Chile Mojito) to our main dishes. Both the GF Arroz Negro and the Peruvian Seafood Stew were delicious. Overall, the dining experience was fantastic! I will return to this place when I visit Mountain View again.

Yelp
This use to be my favorite restaurant but I can not go here anymore. I just got violently sick on the car ride home from eating there. But that's only one reason we won't be returning. The quality of food and service seem to be lacking. My traditional cascal mojito didn't taste amazing like it normally does. The paella rice was way under cooked, not talking al dente under cooked (which would have been ok) but under cooked. Dates were overcooked. We spent 400 plus dollars for what we could have made better at home. Nothing was even half as good as before. Our waiter was MIA and we saw the water boy more than our waiter. Reluctantly, we tipped 20%. I am so saddened. 20 plus years of you guys being my favorite restaurant and now it's dead horse.
