A New Richmond Cheese Shop Will Carry 75 Types of Cheese - Eater Portland

"Caseus Diem is a new cheese shop that will offer over 75 types of cheese, with 12 available for build-your-own cheese boards. The shop will also carry bread, cured meats, crackers, honey, and more. Previously a cheeseboard-by-order business, it is opening a storefront in mid-July." - Rebecca Roland

What a terrific addition to the neighborhood! Not sure how many times I had driven by without noticing this lovely cheese shop, so I'm glad my wife is more observant than I am. Caseus Diem is located on the ground floor of one of the new-ish buildings creating the canyon in the 30s on SE Division. The folks behind the counter were welcoming and well informed. If you plan to visit (and I strongly suggest you do), be sure to check their website for their business hours. They are open from Wednesday to Sunday, so you'll want to stock up to get you through the seizing of Mondays and Tuesdays.

Love this spot! We’ve had the cheese plate as well as purchased cheese by the pound on several occassions. The owner and other service members are always so helpful and friendly! They stock their fridge with care: so many different, delicious cheeses to sample and take home with very reasonable prices. Highly recommend supporting this local business!

I love standing around my kitchen counter at night, nibbling on cheese and crackers. I became across this lovely shop today after eating across the street. I love cheese. They gave me so many samples. It was wonderful to choose from and hard to make decisions. So for my first time there, I only bought two little slices of cheese that are absolutely fantastic Graafstroom Gouda, which is nutty and salty, and Red Dragon, a lovely smooth mustard cheese with a fine finish. I highly recommend them. The service is wonderful. The cheesemongers are so friendly, and it was really nice to meet the owner. Don’t miss this shop on Division! And it is affordable!

Absolutely delightful cheese store! Ryan was our cheese monger when we went and they were helpful, enthusiastic and found us just the cheese we were looking for! Best brie I’ve had. Highly recommend stopping in here.

I cannot say enough good things about my experiences here. I’ve been three times and each visit I’ve been met with excellent service and unbelievably delicious and unique cheeses. I had a holiday party this weekend and the cheese platter from here was the undisputed hit of the evening. The team offers good advice which is great if you’re looking to supplement what you already have, and the samples give you a fully informed buying experience. This place is great for a celebration but I’m also trying to incorporate it more into my regular routine because whose week wouldn’t get better with artisan cheese. The prices are also quite reasonable for what you’re getting, especially if you are just in to grab one or two wedges.

When I arrived at Caseus Diem I was famished. I ordered the single cheese platter with a goats milk honey cheese, marionberry jam, prosciutto, and crackers... It was so delicious!!! It really hit the spot. The single cheese platter was just the right amout of food for an afternoon snack. The price was fair too. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Have stopped in once so far and a very good experience. They have some cheeses ready for samples but they will also let you sample other items from the fridge. I'm sure they could tell we wanted to buy. We got three different cheeses and they can cut exactly how much you want vs the stores with the prepackaged amounts. They have other items to go with your cheese like crackers and salami. They also have an option to preorder a nice looking platter mixing cheese and the other items for taking to an event. For those of us that don't know how to set up that perfect spread but don't want to bring the Safeway plastic platter of basic cheese. Very nice staff so stop in and support our local store. We felt for the cheeses we bought they were very reasonably priced.

Yelp
A brand new cheese shop has opened up in Portland. The owners are super nice. As soon as you walk in they offer you a sample of a cheese. Very effective way to sell cheese! Cheese is one of those things that you either buy what you like or you have to try it to find something that you like. We tried the cheese they were sampling and liked it enough to take some home. They offer cheese boards with about 14 cheeses you can pick from. You select what kind of bread or crackers you want, olives or almonds, and what kind of jam or honey. 1 cheese is $8, 5 cheeses is $15. Seems fair. You can add some meat for $4. I just had the owner pick the cheese based on my criteria and it worked out well. The $15 cheese platter is enough for 2 people honestly. The store is limited in size so while they may not have 100 different cheeses to choose from they have a good selection to choose from.

Yelp
Caseus Diem is Portland's new hidden gem, but I worry they are too hidden! Everyone needs to go check out this awesome experience on division. The cheese mongers are incredibly knowledgeable and super kind. The small space is cozy and abundant with delicious flavors. You can sample three cheeses, a jam and olives/almonds for $12. There's a plethora of options to build your own charcuterie board or just enjoy a great snack. Take the recommendations from the cool staff and try lots of samples. They have fun and funky flavors as well as classics you will love. I look forward to taking loved ones here and building charcuterie boards around the holiday season.

Yelp
I actually saw this place come up on my yelp feed. I'm in this neighborhood a lot and popped by today with a friend. I was happy to see the whole glass side of the store open on a nice day so there was air in there! My friend and I tasted a bunch of cheeses, including those on and off the cheese plate selection. Cheese monger was so so friendly and happy to explain all the things and answer all my queries. Most of the cheese plate additions are PNW locally made (love it). You can take your cheese plate to go or eat inside or there's covered seating outside, too. we went down the list of the cheese plate selection to taste some of those. I got a five cheese plate with olives, fig jam and pitted olives. If you're unsure of pairing, they're super helpful. I also got some cheeses not on the cheese plate list. Pricing was good and store is super cute and colorful. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back as they have seasonal selections, too.

Yelp
What a terrific cheese shop! Han, the owner, knows everything about cheese. Gives great recommendations and samples of items you are considering. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommend Caseus Diem for all your cheese needs.
