The 19 Best Restaurants In Homestead - Miami - The Infatuation

"In Miami, it’s harder to find a wet burrito than it is to find a spot on the beach where you won’t be subjected to someone else's reggaeton playlist. But Casita Tejas is a Tex-Mex restaurant that has delicious wet burritos. We like the Texas chipotle burrito. It normally comes with chicken, but order it with steak—it gets along better with the spicy red sauce, sweet onions, and Mexican rice inside the burrito. Then there’s the burrito norteño—practically the same thing as the chipotle burrito, but covered in a cheesy salsa suiza and melted monterey jack cheese. This is a great place for large parties too. The tables are spaced out and the dining room fills with light that shines through the large windows." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

"When in Homestead, one must always stop for Mexican food, and it’s a well-known fact that Miami’s best authentic Mexican food can be found in the deep south. The menu at Casita Tejas checks all the boxes when the #TacoTuesday feels appear. Can’t decide on just one thing? Don’t miss this incredible Mexican restaurant! We have been coming to Casita Tejas for years. They serve up consistently great food. We ordered the Fajita, El Zarape, Burrito Norteño, and the Green Enchiladas. The Burrito Norteño is a delicious stuffed beef, rice, lettuce and tomato burrito with a green like sauce drenched in top. El Zarape was a cut chicken and steak plate smothered with cheese and served with beans and rice. Come check these out for yourselves.

Here's a rewritten version: The Mexican food here is authentic and delicious. The restaurant itself is simple, clean, and welcoming. The staff provided good service and spoke English fluently. Entrees averaged around $15.00 each. While the dishes were fairly typical, they were well-prepared and satisfying. All in all, it was a pleasant dining experience.

Google
We came here due to the good reviews and left disappointed. The service was very poor with it taking 15 minutes to get chips and salsa. We then ordered our food with Guac and Queso as appetizers. Our food came out before our appetizers and was not authentic Mexican. It took multiple trips to get the food and much was forgotten (tortillas, chips with the dips) While it tasted ok and wasn’t “bad”, it was very Americanized Mexican and looked to be what I could make at home. We then asked for the check and waited 15 more minutes with no service at all. This also felt overpriced, I wasn’t as concerned about the price. It was however noticeably more expensive than other Mexican restaurants. Disappointed and feel the reviews don’t truly reflect the reality here

Google
Everything about this place was amazing, from the food, to the customer service, to the cleanliness of the restaurant itself. We were told to sit anywhere we felt comfortable, and our waitress immediately gave us menus and drinks. Food came out in about 10 minutes and everything was delicious and fresh! Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were happy and satisfied with our meals. Definitely will be back soon, I can see myself making this a regular restaurant for my family and I to go to for authentic Mexican food! Run here, don’t walk!

Google
Casita Tejas Mexican Restaurant in Homestead is a charming, family-friendly spot with a long history, having opened its doors in 1987. The ambiance is welcoming and cozy, making it a great choice for a casual dinner. The service is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The food itself is tasty, with a flavorful salsa that stands out. However, the vegetarian options are somewhat limited, which may be a downside for those seeking more variety in plant-based dishes. Free parking is available, which is always a plus in this area. Overall, Casita Tejas is a solid choice for a casual, family-oriented Mexican dining experience, especially if you’re in the mood for classic flavors and good service.

Google
Absolutely wonderful! We had our rehearsal dinner here & couldn’t believe our eyes when we came in to the beautifully decorated tables & signs welcoming us and our guests. The food was amazing as always, but the service & attention to detail blew us all away. It was an amazing start to our wedding weekend & we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect restaurant to host the dinner. Thank you to all the staff & especially Jenina for going above and beyond to make it so memorable. You all are the best!! We will be back for a delicious meal soon. This place is worth the 1.5 hour drive :)

I came in with Family and my man Victor the server was such a great guy. I recommend this place 11 out of 10 The food was amazing. The drinks were great and we are on our way home. Thanks to his service very much appreciate.

Yelp
When we are in this area we come here often. We often have Margarita as our waitress. She always remembers our orders and the restaurant offers free fresh chips that often come out hot and with salsa. She makes sure that we always have a full basket of chips and salsa and she always is available to fills our drinks. This is an open and clean restaurant with large windows that offer great lighting. Street parking is free and just outside the restaurant is free parking as well. They offer daily specials and a large menu that provides lunch specials. Prices are very reasonable. Food is always fresh and served quickly. I always enjoy coming here.

Yelp
Yesterday was my second visit. First time was December 2023. Both times the service and food were great. The first time I went with my 2 siblings and this time with my husband. We all four gave rave reviews on the portions and taste. This time we had drinks, mangonada and 2 margarita on the rocks. They were huge and so refreshing. I had fried ice cream this time and it was so good. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
We live in the Keys and eat here every time we're up this way. The food is great but the service is outstanding! Margarita is the best server in Florida.

Vanessa V.

Yelp
My absolute go to Mexican restaurant when I'm in town. My husband and I always get the burrito norteño and chicken chipotle burrito.

Yelp
My friend and I have a tradition of having lunch at Casita Tejas before catching a show at the Seminole Theater next door. I really enjoy it here - it's a no-nonsense atmosphere and is always packed, which is a sign of how good it is. My order doesn't change - Burrito Norteño, which is a steak burrito filled with grilled onions (I ask for no onions, as I hate them!), rice and cilantro, smothered with salsa suisa and melted monterrey jack cheese. Served with sour cream, plus refried pinto beans and rice.

Yelp
My buddy took me here for dinner. We were told to sit anywhere. Our waiter immediately gave us menus and drinks. Food came out in about 10 minutes and everything was delicious and fresh! Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we were happy and satisfied with our meals. Definitely will be back soon.

Yelp
Welcoming and friendly service, Food was tasty, fried fish tacos better than the grilled. Definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants but not 5 stars. Service was very slow on the day we went but the chips, salsa and beer helped. All in all would still recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
We were seated and attended to promptly which was amazing! The dining area was bright and pretty average. We had the Queso Fundido as our appetizer. It was delicious! For my main i had the Chalupas aka Tosatadas. So yummy! The meal comes with two Chalupad, rice, and refried beans. I had one grilled chicken Chalupa and one grilled steak Chalupa. They were both good but the steak outshined the chicken. The rice was perfect and the refried beans were very tasty. The food was so good, I blacked out on taking pics...lol.
google avatar

Lauren N.

Yelp
We had a very nice, filling lunch at casita tejas! They start you off with warm chips and salsa, and right away, they refill you with a brand new basket. It was the same thing with our drinks--instant refills. The food was also delicious. We had the mole enchiladas and the burrito norteno. The mole enchiladas had a delicious mole sauce, heavy on the cumin and very tasty. The burrito noreno had their steak fajita inside with cheese, rice and cilantro. It also had cheese on the outside of the burrito and had a nice lime sour cream to dip in. The restaurant was clean and relatively quiet. I would definitely return to try new things.

Yelp
My last night in Homestead after spending three days exploring the local National Parks. Using my personalized algorithm for finding places to eat in new cities, I deduced that I should come here. A nice little American Mexican restaurant near the main downtown area. After luckily stumbling upon a parking spot, I wandered in and got a seat. I ordered way too much food. Startedd off with the Mexican Bullets (jalapeno pepper roasted with your choice of tasty chicken, beef and cheese covered with ranchera sauce and Monterey jack). Very good, like an upgraded chili relleno, get this. Super Nachos (tortilla chips topped with refried beans and ground beef, shredded beef or chicken, topped with melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapeno, and sour cream). Also very good. The topping distribution was on point, the most important part of any nacho dish. Quesadilla Villa (two large grilled flour tortilla filled with melted Monterey jack cheese, shredded or ground beef or chicken, served with lettuce and with sour cream). I would skip this. Don't get me wrong, it was a perfectly fine quesadilla, but it was boring compared to everything else. And the main event, the Guadalajara Platter (Mexican crispy cheese chile relleno, a tamal, a chicken enchilada, beef tostada and a beef taco). Sooo good. I love sampler platters. Solid relleno, not-dry tamal, a cheesy enchilada, a crispy tostada, and a taco. I finished up with an amazing. Quatro Leches (delicious pound cake saturated with a milk mixture, topped with caramel). Tres leches is my favorite dessert of all time. I couldn't figure out what the fourth milk was, but I'm sure it was in there somewhere. So soft and moist, this was the best part of the whole meal, no lie. Overall, this place is a five start representation of everything you would want in an American Mexican restaurant. I would absolutely come here again.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in our south always delicious and consistent! Service is great. We'll worth the drive!

Yelp
Great service, food & ambiance. We enjoyed our food. There is ample parking. Highly recommended

Yelp
The old standby never disappoints. Love this place. Highly recommend the wine based margaritas too. Food is always solid, friendly staff, can't go wrong. LOVED the snapper. Pro tip - order one of there sauces on the side to add a dollop of spice to the fish.
google avatar

Gladys R.

Yelp
The times I have walked in, I was greeted by Yanina - she is the most amazing hostess and server. She ensures you are taken care of from drinks, to appetizers, main course and dessert. I have never experienced service like hers. The ambiance was great, the music wasn't loud you can actually hold a conversation. The only downfall is parking! Side-street parking is recommended, as the parking lot itself is a nightmare.

Yelp
We went here for lunch mid week. This place looks like a cool little spot; It was very clean, the staff were very friendly & attentive, and the food came out quite fast, but everything was just bland, and we didn't care for the texture of the broken rice either.

Jorge G.

Yelp
This people do not know how to cook: Bad tortillas, horrible rice Horrendous "margarita wine" Bad guacamole It is very expensive for what it is. Homestead has a reputation of excellent mexican food. Look for something else.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
The please is really good , clean everything up you look for in a good restaurant! The guacamole from the appetizer menu it's delicious . The taco Al pastor meat was cook well the flavors amazing , the rice the beans everything was delicious. Definitely Will come back . I had a bad experience the first time this definitely made of for that horrible day . But the please is clean !! Clean !!

Natalie G.

Yelp
The food was amazing! The margarita was sooo good! Service was on point. Totally recommend!

Yelp
Every once in a while we travel the hour down to Homestead in the hopes of having true Mexican food. The food was average at best. The service was nonexistent ! Our servicer took our order and never reappeared. Yes, you could see other tables were getting services,But not us. Can only think they would keep this server on staff due to a family connection. Not a server at all, order taker.

Liz G.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Great service and incredible atmosphere. Ordered the tacos dish which was flavorful and well prepared.
google avatar

Ed R.

Yelp
We had lunch here today. I ordered chicken mole, tortilla soup for my wife and churros for dessert. Excellent, fresh and flavorful food. The salsa and chips were also fresh. Good friendly service.
google avatar

Yelp
The Texas Chipotle burrito was phenomenal! I just called in a pick up order but the restaurant looked nice. I will be returning.

Yelp
We were craving Mexican food and you cant go wrong with going all the way to homestead just to have authentic Mexican food at Casitas Tejas. We ordered a bunch of plates, we started which ground beef nachos, then we ordered mondongo soup, a chimichanga, two burritos, to drink we had jarritos and agua de Jamaica. Everything was so tasty, so many flavors. Service was good, the lady who helped her was very funny and super nice We loved the experience we had .
google avatar

Nicole V.

Yelp
Been coming here for 17+ years, and I can't recall ever being disappointed. I have tried multiple dishes and all have been equally amazing. Once you get a table, staff is very quick to brings chips and their homemade salsa. Normally I got for the pineapple jarrito or horchata, but this time a frozen margarita was perfect for the hot summer days. I have tried their portobella veggie fajitas and it's a decent portion that comes with lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, beans, and tortilla (ranges at about $16). This time I got the shredded beef burrito which came with rice and beans (around $12-14). This is located at a corner and has its own parking lot space. Since it's by the end of Krome, it great stop to go after or before going to the Keys. There is also a movie theater right across. Overall 10/10! Truly can't go wrong with any of their plates.
google avatar

Juan R.

Yelp
Had a terrible experience here last night ordered the tortilla soup and it was inedible , complained to the server who questioned me for not liking the soup and then got the manager . They did not own to it terrible service and experience.

Ali P.

Yelp
We love eating at Casita Tejas!!! Food is always great and the service is excellent! It's a great place to take the whole family.
google avatar

Nicole Cordova M.

Yelp
We ate here today and it was fantastic. My husband and I both ate quesadillas that were great. My kids loved the rice, even if they didn't like the beans. But refried beans are not always a kid favorite. My margarita was perfect. The tacos were really good too. You get chips and salsa when you first sit down and I think I could have eaten all the salsa on my own.
google avatar

Cathy B.

Yelp
The food here was amazing. I loved the norteño burrito. The steak was amazing. Order it with steak. The ambiance was very nice. Downtown homestead is coming up. The restaurant looked clean and staff were very friendly and made great suggestions. My server was Carlos and he provided great service. My mom ordered the Mexican plate and it brought a bit of everything. If you want to try a few things get that dish. So.. I was supposed to post pics but I was too hungry. Ya'll get me right? lol.
google avatar

Tony H.

Yelp
The food is great, the service is usually too notch and depending on time of day and day of week it can be either crowded or not. It is very popular.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
I recently went here because I was around the homestead area looking to buy fresh produce and decided to stop here because my family I had said good things about this place. Upon entrance everyone that was working war in masks which was great and it was insane how spaced-out the tables were. While we waited to be seated the waitress actually wiped down the tables in front of us to show that they were making sure they were clean. They did not hand out menus and instead hat QR codes on the table that we would scan and it would pull up the menu on our phone. For my meal I decided to go for the two tacos, rice and beans. The tacos were insanely delicious and a meat with seasoned to Perfection. The rice was good but to me it could had a little more seasoning on it and the refried beans were absolutely to die for. They have salsa for the table and I could have drink it on its own because of how delicious and fresh the tomatoes tasted. I will definitely be coming back here again if I am ever in the area
google avatar

Abraham D.

Yelp
Great service. Fast and the food was spot on! Looking forward to going back soon. I got the skirt steak and they know how to season and cook it right. Oh the refried beans were amazing!
google avatar

Denise H.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way to the keys on a Saturday night, it was busy with most of the tables full. The food was very good with good portions. The chips and salsa were excellent, very crisp chips and homemade salsa. If I'm ever in Homestead again, I'll come back.
google avatar

Angie C.

Yelp
Poor service. Full house on a Saturday night and they couldn't handle it. So loud she got the order wrong, no refills on drinks, disappeared for 45 and no one covered the table. People fell asleep at the table waiting on the food. Food took an hour to come. Nothing extravagant, normal order. Reina was definitely not worth the 18% they forced on the bill.
google avatar

Rafael F.

Yelp
Good service.Expensive for Mexican food.Fresh salsa.Good fajitas mix plate, recommend.Only two booth seats.Nice Mexican decor.Tricky entry to parking lot.
google avatar

Robin S.

Yelp
This was an ok place. Service good. Food was ok. I have made chili relleno before and I know they are labor intense. How they come out so fast from this kitchen I don't know. Salsa and chips were good. Guacamole had tons of onions. Stilll tasting the next day. Refried beans were good. Don't get how they can call them margaritas if made with wine. Sangria was decent.
google avatar

Rafael L.

Yelp
Small Mexican restaurant, the food is very good I understand is not many choices but they can do better service is so bad we have to ask for everything, water, ice, Silverware, etc... Hmm!! The owner should more pending for employees they not good for the restaurant

L G.

Yelp
I have been coming to this family owned restaurant since 1986. The food , the service and ambiance has always been top notch
google avatar

Irene M.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the chicken, shrimp & steak fajitas! It was enough for 2 people to share. I was also happy about the super refreshing agua de Jamaica. Casual family vibes & service was pretty quick. No complaints here, reasonably priced & decent parking.

Sf F.

Yelp
We just went today. Our Server Margarita was more than wonderful. She anticipated our needs before we even asked her. The food was absolutely great as always. Always pleasant and satisfied to dine here.

Yelp
I don't like leaving bad reviews, I always keep an open mind, and I always try to give any restaurant and staff the benefit of the doubt. But what my wife and I experienced at Casita Tejas this evening was very disappointing. We had plans for date night, but they fell through so Plan B was to go to Casita Tejas where we've had very good experiences in previous years. We walked in and we were promptly seated and given menus because it was pretty much empty (2 other couples only) at 6:30 PM on a Friday night. One of the staff came over and gave us salsa and chips. Didn't say hello or acknowledge us whatsoever. Just basically kind of threw them on the table, and walked over to another table where he seemed to be more interested in the conversation that was taking place with another server and another customer. The server that left the chips and salsa on our table, started cleaning the table of the other customer while the server that was there talking just kept talking. In the meantime, we were left sitting there, wondering who our server was, with no person acknowledging us that we were there. Although there seemed to be plenty of staff, with only 2 couples as mentioned to serve, there didn't seem to be a sense of urgency to serve us. So we got up and left. Honestly they didn't seem to care. They definitely won't be in business much longer. It's unfortunate because they used to be very good. Don't waste your time and money.
google avatar

Danielle T.

Yelp
Came here for a filling and wholesome meal and that's exactly what I got. I had the portobello fajitas, they were delicious. The portions were massive and I was able to take more than half of it home. The service was great, never had to ask for a thing. Also try not to get too stuffed by eating too much chips and delicious fresh salsa!
google avatar

Monica B.

Yelp
Tortillas delicious, the tomatoes in the Pico and salsa were old and terrible. My mushroom fajitas were mostly onion. The flavors were off. If we hadn't been starving, we would've sent everything back. Service is 5 stars. Our waitress was attentive and great. Would I go back? Probably not.
google avatar

Ana C.

Yelp
Service was great!!! Don't be disappointed by the lack of fresh lemon(lime)ade. They make up for it with the entrees. Good is great. Hot sauce is HOT!! Cheese sauce is not what you expect, instead it's sooo much better. Chipotle sauce is on point. Bring a light jacket it tends to be cool inside. Would def visit again.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Good service. Queso dip was tomatoe sauce with cheese on top. Cool ambiance. Need more high chairs for babies.
google avatar

Victor B.

Yelp
Very fast service. Highly recommend their enchiladas. Felt like they shove them down my throat and busted. Will come again!
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
Came to the restaurant with my daughter. I ordered El Pastor Tacos. The food was very average. The beans literally taste bad but aside from the food, the service was horrible. Its not hard to be polite to people. I wanted to return my tacos and the manager said I had to pay for them. They were extremely Spicy and I like spicy but my mouth was burning. I literally couldn't eat it. The manager said I had to pay for it no matter what. It was a super uncomfortable situation. Terrible service! Servicer then acted mad at me.
google avatar

Clint C.

Yelp
Food here was good. We were promptly seated and drink order taken. Drinks came out and order taken and then nothing. Drinks ran out and nothing. Food came and we we're finally able to ask for refills. Service needed to be improved but food was good.
google avatar

Ronald C.

Yelp
Great amount of servings and overall ambiance for a Thursday evening out and about in Homestead. Food overall was good, from portion size to taste and quality. Service was not so well as it seems the staff was overworked with the amount of tables they were dealing with that night (many going to a show across the street same as me).
