TikToker Discovers Hotel Window Opens Into an Operating Restaurant | Eater

"An Airbnb-listed hotel room in Manhattan that was advertised with skyline views actually faced directly into the building’s dining area: the window functioned as one-way glass opening onto a fully operating restaurant so guests could watch diners who were unaware. The guest posted TikToks documenting the discovery, attempted to contact the hosts and received a delayed apologetic message about room issues, and was later issued a credit by Airbnb. Photos and reporting suggest the hotel built the restaurant on an outdoor patio, placing the room at the corner of the dining room; some observers noted that despite the surprise, the setup could make for an entertaining stay." - Jaya Saxena

Very clean and comfortable. Convenient location to get to the Times Square, Broadway, and 5th Ave as well as a short drive to SoHo shopping. We booked at the last min on a whim and it was a great stay. Jessy at the front desk is the best and goes above and beyond. We loved her!! I will absolutely be staying here again.

I traveled to the city for a show when I arrived in my room I noticed it was hot. I checked the temp of the room and what the ac was set at. I waited for about an hour and a half thinking maybe the air was not turned on before my arrival. The room temperature went up instead of down. I went to the front desk they sent maintenance. The gentleman was nice and came back three different times but the air conditioning wasn’t working properly. I had to leave for my concert and asked if I could have a room with working air conditioning especially since it was 100 degrees in the city. The management refused and told me since I’ll be gone for a while they will continue working on it. I came back late that night and My room never cooled down. I stayed for the night in a hot room and left first thing in the morning. I let the front desk know when I was checking out that the air conditioning wasn’t working. Everyone at the front desk was kind and so was the maintenance worker. But to stay in a hot room while it was boiling outside was a horrible experience.

Great location and Jessy at the front desk was the best! The hotel is walking distance from Times Square and Hudson Yards. Jessy was so friendly and a huge help with booking the rooms, finding the closest parking garage, and she even loaned us an umbrella for an unexpected rainy day.

Perfect as a homebase on a NY city trip. There are some good restaurants in walking distance and while close to Times Square, the area still feels local and authentic. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Jessy, who provided useful advice throughout our stay. The rooms were clean, practical, and very spacious.

The best part of my stay was the comfort on the | bed and the positive receptionist that would say Hi and talk to me. Her name is Jessy and she is the main reason my stay was 10x better. Thank you Truss hotel for this experience. The price is fair for the area and the great water pressure you get.

Jessy was the best part of our experience. She really looked out for us and went above and beyond. I've traveled to quite a few hotels over the years and have never recieved the level of service Jessy provided. Thank you so much for making our stay a comfortable and memorable 1.

Jessy was an amazing receptionist! She was very helpful and knowledgeable about the local/surrounding area. She made our stay exceptionally pleasant and comfortable. She greeted us with a kind smile and offered us water bottles everyday.

Yelp
Very clean. Rioom was spacious. Easy check in and check out. Held our luggage since we got there early.

Yelp
We wanted a room with two queen beds, and it was very difficult to find near time square, through Expedia we found this. At first, we thought the room would be small, but the room was big enough to accommodate 4 people and lots of suitcases. The room was very clean, the best thing is they have room service every day. Anything we requested was very quickly taken care of. Lucy and others are wonderful managers and very good at quickly responding to our requests. They have lots of storage across the wall. Will consider coming back again.

Yelp
I personally enjoyed my stay. Jessie, Diana, and Tony were all wonderful. The rooms are big and clean. The rooftop was beautiful. The hotel is totally centralized and next to the subway station. I would definitely come back. The prices to this establishment are even better then the other hotels.

Yelp
Clean rooms. Ours on 3rd floor is quiet. Has fridge and microwave but no coffee maker. Shower only. Beds are ok. Lots of pillows but they're lumpy. Front desk was nice let us check in early. Great walking distance to everything. The 2 USB chargers built into the counter were broken. I would stay here again.

Yelp
I know sometimes the need for a hotel on the fly is real but you can skip over this one! The rooftop doesn't make up for poor front desk service and other issues. TLDR: I couldn't possibly give my stay more than four stars after my initial encounter with the front desk. When I first arrived, I went to check in and immediately received sass from the woman at the front desk. She was snappy as she shared that my friend had not added my name to the reservation so I could not be checked in. I let her know that I would call my friend because she'd told me she just got off the phone with the hotel and had filled out the forms to include my name. I called my friend who confirmed everything on speaker phone. I then asked the lady at the front desk what we should do to get this resolved. While my friend was on speaker phone, the lady sassily said "she would need to call me and add you to the reservation." My friend calls and the lady realizes my friend had in fact added my name in the way another front desk person advised her to, she'd added it to the comments. The current front desk lady repeatedly let us know that she can't see the comments so it's incorrect and she doesn't know anything about me adding on because she can't see the comments, etc etc. Chile, at this point I'm ready to ask her why she's explaining this to me with such attitude instead of making a note to talk with her colleague about the proper way to add someone to a reservation. The little smile she gave after did not help, first impressions are everything and to make it worse, when another friend who had been added in the same was I had, came to check in, the lady gave her even more attitude and would not even entertain my friend's asks for a key despite her being added to the reservation. I was underwhelmed by the rest of the stay, so here we are at three stars.

Yelp
To be honest, this is a very mid hotel. I'm rating them 4 stars because the staff were so accomodating and good to us. This is one of the more affordable hotels in the area so you can't expect the best of the best. Pros: - friendly and helpful staff - good location - more affordable than other hotels (but you pay for what you get) Cons: - bad allergies - mold on the bathroom ceiling above the shower (which is why I think we had allergies) - you can hear your neighbors through the walls and vents (hopefully you're not unfortunate enough to have loud neighbors like we did but the staff take action when there are noise complaints) We flew a red eye to NY and arrived to the hotel at 10am. Check-in is at 4pm so we were expecting to just drop off our bags but they let us go in to our room since it was ready. This was much needed since we didn't sleep much on the plane. Because our allergies were so bad every time we were in our room (but much better when we were outside exploring), we asked the front desk if we can change rooms. They ended up just giving our room a deep clean, which we were fine with -- but I realized it was probably the mold because the cleaning didn't help. Again, good service and affordable price, especially if you're going out all day and just need a place to sleep. Mold inspection should be done.

Yelp
The room was super dirty. We had to ask for a refund on a night because there was a condom under the mattress. Gross!!! This totally ruined our trip for us and I could trust that the other rooms were cleaned. The ONLY nice thing about this place is the roof top!

Yelp
Customer service is outstanding! Hands down! We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms was nice and you can tell they are trying to upgrade but it just needs to TLC with the remodel clean up. We really like the rooftop. You can see all of the city and makes the New York experience wonderful. We took some wine up there and watched the sun go down. It was great. Location was also great because it was a few blocks from the major stations!

Yelp
Definitely not worth staying here. The rates are better at other hotels with much better value. Not only does this service have no baggage hold, their service is virtually nonexistent. The location is awful as well and not at all convenient. This hotel only exists from spillover when rates jump but if you're reading this, turn back and stay at that other hotel you were looking back. Trust me, you'll be happy you did.

Yelp
WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER. Hidden SCAM "facility fee" of $50 on arrival after paying $200 for a room for one night. Apparently for WiFi and gym and amenities, non refundable despite not using any of them. THEN AT 1AM the hotel staff try to enter my room... they discover the room dark with me sleeping and say "Oh sorry." But proceed to call me when they return downstairs and interrogate me as to my name, the spelling of my name, and put me on hold to figure out if I have a legitimate reservation because their computers went down and they don't know which rooms are available and which are occupied. "I mean, we're not kicking you out... but can you please spell your last name again and hold while I try to find your reservation?" I asked, "WHAT TIME IS IT?" "1am." "I paid for my room and have to work at 7am, please leave me alone." In the morning I AGAIN asked that the facility fee be reimbursed because I was then unable to fall back asleep and my stay was not pleasurable and they again said they have no power to do that. The only positive was a comfortable bed, but I didn't get a full night sleep, was irritated by the staff at 1am, and everything in the building is sloppily done and falling apart. There is a wall of fake leaves at the entrance, this hotel is clearly trying to be upscale but is failing miserably. Pictures attached are paint peeling and all over wall tiles in bathroom, busted elevator buttons, and unknown "slime" on wall of elevator. HORRIBLE customer service, rude and not cultured in hospitality AT ALL. Good job guys! Bravo.

Yelp
After being closed since March 2020 due to Covid, Cassa reopened this weekend for Valentines Day. This was my first time staying there and was not impressed. It seemed that after being closed for so long, the hotel was not properly prepared for guest. The room was not spectacular and the hotel did not have wifi. My room had 3 random chairs around the bed; a small couch or desk would have made the decor better. My room was missing towels and hand soap. Overall my stay for one night was just okay. The location in perfect in Time Square right by the Lincoln Tunnel and the price was decent. I recommend only one night at Cassa. If you are planning a longer stay choose a different hotel.

Yelp
Pretty average hotel. The queen/queen room is a great size compared to other NY hotel rooms. The hallways were a little dungeon-like and the rooms lacked any flare but they were worth the price. The beds and pillows were comfortable. One weird thing- every night in the middle of the night (between 1 and 3am), a loud vibration noise would come on, sounded like it was in the wall of our room - so that was annoying. But overall, great location and was able to walk everywhere we needed to go! Would go back. One thing to add- they charged you for each bag they need to store, which I've never experienced. I've always just tipped for storing my bags.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. I went through Airbnb to book this. Will never come here again. Please don't come here. This should be shut down. There is no proper management or managing. This needs to be taken off of Airbnb. Probably won't use Airbnb anymore bc of how our situation has been handled with such little care or urgency. Our host "Kristina" was communicating in the beginning only because we had to pay a $2 living rate on top of the $1,000+ dollars we already spent to just stay in the room for 5 days -- I don't get it either. Had issues and tried to contact her she has yet to answer us. When we got here our original room was not clean. Looked like someone just checked out. Bed, bathroom, floor, stained towels, etc. A MESS. Found out they "deep clean the rooms" EVERY 10 DAYS We contacted our "house keeper" Isabella to let her know, she came and said she can get us a new room. She came back with new room keys. We got to our new room and immediately spooked. Our room was inside of a little room. There is also a room next to ours in the same little room. That room door was open and dark with the a dirty towel on the ground and the bolt lock was keeping the door from shutting. The door to the small room closes behind us soooo.... Definitely felt unsafe. The room itself, unacceptable!! The shower was not cleaned at all, everything needed to be thoroughly cleaned, swept and mopped, and another stained towel on the ground. No front desk to help direct anything. It feels like this hotel is self operated by the people living in it. The police showed up to our room asking if we called. Didn't call. Didn't get any context of any situation. The front desk- if there is one- called and said it's normal. I could go on. Please don't come here. Update-- never got a response from my host, and finally got. Full refund. Too 13 days to see there was something wrong with someone walking in my room. Our stay was fort 5 days, we didn't even want to spend the night there. We left the next day.

Yelp
I booked through airbnb, I knew i was taking a chance because there weren't any reviews. I asked about early check days before my reservation and the host overlooked that question. When we arrived I called the host several times and sent her messages through the app but it took her almost two hours to get back with me and give me Isabellas info. Isabella was incredibly sweet and got us to our room shortly after that and all of my interactions with staff thereafter were pleasant however that doesn't excuse the poor quality of the hotel itself. There was dirt and hair in the bed frame, the pillow cases were stained/dirty and turned over to the clean side so we wouldn't notice, the headboard light stopped working after our first night, the cups and bowls provided were dirty and the water pressure in shower is way too intense, there's leaky bathroom faucet, and the floors needed to be swept and throughly mopped. We were only given two towels and when I asked the housekeeper for an extra towel she told me she didn't know where they were and to ask front desk (there's no one at the front desk) Also, there needs to be more communication between the hotel and the apartments that are connected, the hotel had no front desk and the front desk on the other side were oblivious and unhelpful. I ordered food to the hotel and instead of telling the driver that room 302 was next door , he told her that there was no 302 in that building and kicked her out. l was very disappointed, I do think this place has potential so hopefully they make improvements.

Yelp
Found this joint on hotel tonight. Very friendly staff. The check in girls were cute- I dunno why that means a lot to me. ;) I was offered cheese and wine when I arrived. They also had a fruit basket with oranges and bananas for the guests. The rooms weren't all funky, or super artsy like some of the other hotels I've stayed at, but the rooftop garden w/jacuzzi was awesome. The skyline view was dope. I'll be back

Yelp
We arrived at Cassa Hotel Times Square on October 3rd 2017. Our immediate impression was that this was a nice hotel and we looked forward to out 3 night stay. Unfortunately that feeling didn't last. When in the bathroom we noticed some small black spots moving around in the shower area in room 320. When approaching the spots they turned out to be small bugs/insects. We contacted the reception, and their first response was that nothing could be done that night. After a long discussion the receptionist came up to see them and sprayed them with a bug spray they have handy in the reception. After a long wait they provided a second room - room 222 - which they guaranteed would be bug-free. Due to our experience in room 320 we searched the shower area throughly - again there were bugs. Inspecting the rest of the room the sheets also had dirty stains. We contacted the reception again but they could not do anything to help us further. The only thing they could offer was new clean sheets so we could change the bed ourselves. Not willing to share our room with bugs we left and checked in to another hotel near by. I spoke to the general manager and sent him pictures of the bugs and stains the following day as he was unavailable the day of our arrival - we tried to agree with him on a refund, but as our booking was non-refunable he was unwilling to make a compromise. He also stated that he wanted to be transparent and said that the pets inspections couldn't see signs of bugs. I contacted the pest inspectors myself and they told me that they couldn't guarantee that there was no bugs in the hotel - the general manager also "forgot" to show the pest inspectors the pictures we had taken. Upon confronting the general manager with this he said that we had enlarged (zoomed) our photos too much and hence that it wasn't that big a deal - from my point of view bugs regardless of the size is unacceptable, the same goes with a dirty bed. Stay clear of this hotel

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at Cassa. They provided us with the best customer service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and accommodating to our needs. Upon checking in, we were gifted with a complimentary bottle of champagne. They offer free unlimited breakfast until 10 am daily. The rooms were much bigger than expected. It was very spacious and clean for the 4 of us to stay in the Park Double room. Compare to other NYC 4-star hotels, Cassa has very reasonable prices. I would definitely stay again if I had another opportunity. When you check out, they offer free bottles of water and some fruit.

Yelp
This is not a great place to have loud wild sex, fart, or even have a conversation. Why? The walls are thin, thin, thin. Stayed here over the weekend. This hotel is close to Times Square and also near Madison Square Garden. It took us ten minutes to get to the Billy Joel concert. Very friendly staff at the front desk. The king bed room we had is sort of sterile, but serviceable. The bed was extremely comfortable. There is no dresser in the room. There is no refrigerator. There were two robes to wear. There's a mini-bar frog in the room. It's a nice hotel, but I don't like hearing my neighbors quite so much. And they may not like having heard us! On the roof there's a nice area. There's a rooftop hot tub! Complimentary happy hour from 4-5:00. Continental breakfast in the morning.

Yelp
Booked our stay on Hotel Tonight for $180. Saw this was a newer hotel reviews seemed great. We arrived, no valet parking so had to drive car back around three blocks to get to parking garage. Entire lobby was under construction which smelled of paint and chemicals when we arrived. The rooms were decently spacious and clean. A Hotel is all about getting a restful, peaceful sleep, right? Don't expect it here. Wall or floors are very thin. You can hear the elevators even tho we were down 8 rooms from it. We also heard people having SEX somewhere in an nearby room, and before that a baby crying. So if you want a good nights sleep be warned that you'll here every little thing, even someone dropping something in the wooden floors above you. And that should be the upmost care when building a hotel is soundproofing. I would double check to make sure if you want a good nights sleep, maybe check other reviews first.

Yelp
This is the story of two parents who decided to escape during Fashion Week and the US Open, AKA the most expensive hotel week of the year in NYC. I have no regrets, and luckily we found Cassa Hotel Times Square... which should actually be called Cassa Hotel Hell's Kitchen. Do I love staying in midtown? Not really. Does being this close to the bus terminal kind of gross me out? You betcha! But this hotel wasn't half bad. Free wine hour, free breakfast, nice staff and (relatively) large rooms. Cable, robes and all those other important details that make hotels my favourite places were all present. Hooray.

Yelp
I will be staying at Cassa EVERY time I'm in the city from now on. As a frequent NYC visitor, I have stayed in many, many hotels all over the city and this was by far, the best experience I've ever had! My bestie and I stayed for 3 days/2 nights for a girls weekend. LOCATION I wanted an affordable room that was centrally located so we could hit all the tourist spots and have easy access to the quieter neighborhoods I love visiting. And Cassa delivered! Located in Midtown West, almost in Hell's Kitchen, it's an easy cab ride down to the Financial District, and a quick walk to Midtown, the Theater District, Central Park, UWS, etc. ROOM Our room was absolutely perfect, so large for the price! Clean, bright, with a nice view (not just of an alley or other buildings like some large hotel chains), and we never heard our neighbors! The hallways/elevators were very clean as well! SERVICE 500,000 stars. It was rainy the day we arrived... Jessica greeted us and ushered us into the FREE DAILY WINE HOUR right away. She got us all checked in while we sipped on FREE WINE, and then made sure we had everything we needed, knew where to find COMPLIMENTARY breakfast in the morning and assured me we could late check out (2p) on Sunday. Cesar was our go-to guy! He was so gracious during wine hour, and then delivered our fridge and complimentary champagne to our room! Lastly, Lucy checked us out and was so sweet and helpful, making sure we had all we needed to get back home! AMENITIES Besides the aforementioned complimentary daily wine hour and complimentary breakfast, if you book direct on their website you are offered a room upgrade (if available), early check-in, late check-out, and a complimentary bottle of wine or champagne! The last thing to note was the GORGEOUS rooftop terrace! We loved taking our free wine up there! So spacious with lots of seating and even a grassy area and kids toys! There was a jacuzzi but it was not in use during our visit in early April. Not all rooms have a mini fridge, but we requested one and it was delivered soon after getting our keys and getting settled in. I could go on and on about how wonderful Cassa was. I literally have nothing bad to say about it. If you're traveling to the city, Cassa is the place to stay!! HIGHLY recommend!

Yelp
Staff was amazing. I have to say, they did EVERYTHING to accommodate all 3 of my rooms. Thank you staff. I really appreciated the service and attention from everyone at the front desk to managers and also the cleaning lady. The rooms were cute and spacious for NY and pretty clean. I would definitely stay here again. Tip: If you like keeping beverages in your room, you can request for a fridge if it doesnt have one already. Cons: You'll probably want to pass on breakfast cause you'll find something better across the street at the deli or just go out. 2nd con - there is no bellman, but they made up for it in so many other ways. I'd stay here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Staff was friendly and took care of our large group! Half of us were checking-out, and half staying a few more nights (booked on a different account). we were able to keep our same room without having to check-out and in again, such a big help! Enjoyed the spacious 2 queen room we had. You have to visit the rooftop, it's amazing! Plenty of seating, a grass area, and even a hot tub. Breakfast and wine hour provided daily!

Yelp
I stayed here for one night and I would only stay here for nothing more than two nights. It was a quiet hotel, the staff was very nice and informative! We stayed in the king room, there was only two towels, and the water from the shower was all over the floor by the end of the shower. The room could of been a little more clean, and things touched up a bit. The bed was very comfy! They also have a gym that was nice and the terrace above which was beautiful at night. Overall, It was a nice stay, and I would recommend for only a night or two.

Yelp
Stayed here for a convention at the Javits. The room/space was fine. Our floor had a weird musty smell-- which the room was unaffected by. Pros: * Super close to the venue (location) * Rooftop was beautiful * Free water bottles * Free continental breakfast Cons: * Wine and cheese hour - While it was nice that they offer a "wine and cheese" hour, the wine was meh and the cheese is legit Kraft singles with Ritz crackers. * Bag check - No bag check and no communication about it until checkout. I think it would be beneficial to let patrons know at check in and at booking so they could plan accordingly. Offering a local storage solution for $2.50/hr would have cost my group over $100 to check our bags.

Yelp
Our nightly rate of this hotel was a lot more than other people mentioned -$300, and for that price, I was hoping the jacuzzi would have worked as advertised. When we looked at the maps prior to leaving it said the hotel was a 7 minute walk from Time Square, but it was 17 minutes power walking(Still not bad). We also walked to Central Park, which was a 48 minute walk. I would probably take a Lyft or Uber next time in the heat. We parked before checking in based off reviews, and I'm glad we did, other wise we would of spent 30 minutes trying to go around the block in traffic. We took a Toyota, Tacoma there and were charged $75 for it being an "oversized" vehicle in that garage. Some positives were the views on the roof and also their wine hour!

Yelp
I booked this hotel for a special birthday celebration, and the poor quality of the hotel and service nearly ruined the trip. This is not a 4-star hotel and I don't know how it is allowed to list itself as such. Furthermore, there is significant fraudulent advertising on the website. Below is a list of items advertised on the website and in the reservation that is not actually available: 1) Rooftop bar - NONE 2) Restaurant - NONE 3) Early check-in for "VIP" guests - DEPENDS. If early check-in is not guaranteed, you need to clearly state that. 4) Late check-out - DEPENDS. Same as 3. When I booked the hotel through the official website, it said that booking through the website would include a bottle of champagne or wine, early check-in and late check-out, and a room upgrade (if available). When I made the reservations, I noted that we were there for a special birthday celebration and I requested that a bottle of champagne be in the room when we arrived. I emailed reservations a few days before to confirm that the bottle of champagne be in the room and to request early check-in as advertised. The hotel responded that early check-in depended on availability and did not acknowledge my other request. when we arrived. When I arrived at the hotel, I saw that the front desk and registration area was small and run-down, reminiscent of a budget hotel. The male front desk clerk told me that they could not accommodate early check-in even though it was advertised. They also do not hold luggage for guests which is completely unheard of for an allegedly 4-star hotel. This is not listed on the website nor did the agent mention anything when I emailed about early check-in. We had spend an additional $60 to store our luggage. The front desk clerk was unhelpful and curt. He gave me the card for the Area Manager and I called and left a message that I was having issues with my reservation and check in and my call was never returned. When we were finally able to check-in, our room was mediocre at best. And they did not have a bottle of champagne there like I had requested. They finally brought it a while later, and it was half-frozen. The receptionist asked us to come down to exchange it. The shower is poorly designed so water sprays all over the floor when you use it. The blanket is two top sheets covering a cheap blanket, like the ones you see in a motel. Moral of the story, stay far away from this hotel. There are plenty of other 4-star (and even 3-star hotels) in NYC that are much nicer than this place.

Yelp
Boutique hotel conveniently located near Madison Square Garden / Penn Station, Hell's Kitchen, and Times Square. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and they have a lot of amenities for a boutique hotel. The staff offered water bottles when you checked in, the rooms were spacious, the gym was a decent size and had several machines, they had a complimentary wine/happy hour from 4pm-5pm, and they also had a complimentary breakfast. Unfortunately, they were not able to store luggage, but they were able to refer a nearby place that was relatively inexpensive ($6). Convenient location, friendly staff, and an overall great value!

Yelp
Small boutique hotel in Hell's Kitchen. Great location in walking distance to Broadway, but away from the large groups of tourists. They have rooms with two queen beds which are hard to come by in NYC. Also has a rooftop with a nice view, hot tub and grassy area. The hotel bar has a nightly happy hour with one free glass of wine for guests. Book directly from the hotel website for the VIP package and get a bottle of wine delivered to your room!

This place is pretty F-ing decent. Big rooms for a NY hotel. We had the studio. It's a room with a living room and second 1/2 bath. Were there for work at the Javits. It was an easy walk to the convention center. Having 2 bathrooms and extra space was worth the price. There's some wear and tear in the rooms but nothing bad. The staff is extra helpful and accommodating. There's a roof deck with a great view. There's a free break fast in the AM (B+ breakfast). I'd stay again.

Yelp
Stayed there this week with my kid. The hotel was clean, friendly, and had a great location. There was a bit of sound travelling through bathroom vents. Ideally the bathroom fan would have shielded this noise (would have left the fan on for the night with bathroom door closed). The fan is really a heating / cooling unit that did not work reliably--it turned on and off with no clear relationship to turning the knob--also it was loose and not tightly fastened to the wall. Without the fan, you could hear the neighbors through the vent, even with bathroom door closed. Bathroom clean, deep tub. Also I think the cleaning crew --in the morning--7:30 / 8:00 AM ish...should be trained to not talk in the hallways or leave doors open to rooms they are cleaning--they were a bit loud. It's fixable if management simply instructs cleaners to not talk, whistle, sing . Other than that...it's really fine...i stand by my four stars. Apples to eat at entrance, Breakfast is scrambled eggs, hash browns, mini bagels, cereal, tang instant breakfast drink (or sunny delight), coffee tea, yogurt, apples banana but it's a nice dining room with very diverse residents. Staff was very friendly by my reckoning---both on the phone and in person. Check-plus. Rooftop park that's really nice to chill on. bar and lounge with the hotel---with a happy hour. We didn't do the bar. Wifi worked fine.

Yelp
Dirty is the key word . (Starting from the entrance door! Completely stained) We booked through hotel tonight , once we arrived at the hotel we specified that I was allergic to dust and if the room wasn't well cleaned up I could have had an allergic reaction . So we went into the room and I started looking around to make sure that everything was fine. There was dust everywhere , it seemed like they didn't clean the room for months. I complained and they sent a really kind guy to fix the situation and clean the bedroom . (Of course he was not a waiter and he was not trained to clean ) . To apologize he offered us a bottle of wine ! During the night I was trying to sleep but I couldn't because there was a guy snoring next to our room and I could hear EVERYTHING ! so i decided to sleep with the earphones listening to music instead of noise!!! PLUS : Too expensive fees

Yelp
I wasn't pleased with this place at all, and it starts with the service. The service was just so bad, I'm not sure I've actually even seen anything like it before. The only reason I gave two stars was because I did think the room was spacious with a nice bathroom for the value. I wouldn't return for that though, good service is key. I will not be returning. Thank you though.

Yelp
This is a lovely hotel!! It's located about 10 blocks from Times Square and is in the heart of Hell's Kitchen so there's great food and bar options close by! We were greeted and checked in by Diana who was very nice and let us know about all the amenities. The room was very spacious and clean. The bed is VERY comfortable. I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely stay here again when I come back! They have a complementary wine happy hour and breakfast is included. I recommend checking out the roof terrace for great view of the city for free.

Yelp
I had planned a birthday evening in Manhattan and figured staying in the city was the most plausible. I booked through HotelTonight and the experience from beginning to end was stellar. Firstly, the location was perfect for tourists & locals alike. You're close to Times Square and subway stations because, let's face it, you're not driving. Front desk was helpful and very accommodating when it came to room requests. They had some construction going on, but the ladies at the front desk ensured me it would only be going on for a couple of more hours. Not a deal-breaker. We had a double room on the third floor which was perfect. The room was spacious, swanky, and modern. There's an iPad that greets you by name & you can set alarms on it. The lighting was sufficient, the beds were low, and the tub was unusually high. Cassa has breakfast daily as well as wine and cheese during late afternoon. There's a rooftop deck that's perfect for Instagram photos and even a hot tub if it's that kind of party. I would definitely stay here again when I plan anything in the city. The GM of the hotel, Fred, even followed up with me to ensure my stay was pleasant and to invite me back. That was much appreciated as well. I actually left a couple of items after check-out and they were more than helpful in helping me retrieve them. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
We stayed here for a couple days. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious for NYC. Yes you can hear everything outside but this is New York City! And it's in a busy area. If you have a child with you, the rooftop is a place they can run around and burn some energy. And they have outdoor toys for them to play with. Convenient location and a 5-10 minute walk to subway stations and Time Square. Plenty to eat around for all budgets and diets. $1 slice pizza down the street. And a juice/vegan spot across the street! A small grocery store on the next block with not too bad prices! No complaints this way! I really enjoyed my stay here and will return!

Yelp
I have no idea why there are so many amazing reviews of this hotel on the internet. They're what made me book a stay there and it was way worse than expected. It's nothing like it's advertised. The carpets are stained, my bathroom mirror had a big chip in it, the walls were dirty, the hallways smelled awful, the floor was scratched up. I can keep going. It's a basic hotel trying to pass as modern luxury, but completely fails in execution.

Yelp
We stayed for three nights at the Cassa Hotel Times Square between Christmas and New Year. This hotel has several things going for it. #1 is definitely the staff. During check-in, check-out, the wine hour, every time we came or left the building, and when we needed tissues, the staff was great -- friendly, courteous, just a joy to interact with. Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking 9th Avenue. Pretty spartan furnishings, but clean and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable, the free wifi worked well, and the room was decent sized compared to many NYC rooms we've stayed in. The bathroom had a walk-in shower which had amazing water pressure. The only real down-side to our room, was that 2 of our 3 days when we showered between 8:30 - 10:00 am, there was a lack of hot water. This wasn't an issue the morning we slept in and showered later. Another minor blip which probably says more about my phobias was the bedding on the bed. There's a sheet for sleeping on, then a comforter, and then a sheet on top of that. I'm used used to sleeping between two sheets so I wasn't sure how often they cleaned the comforter. However, everything appeared clean and it was very comfortable. The location is easy to get to Times Square. There's also a subway station at the Port Authority just two blocks away. Lots of restaurants nearby. We did partake of the wine and cheese hour. It's a nice touch which I enjoy. We also took advantage of the free breakfast. It included coffee and water, prepackaged muffins, apples, bananas, oranges, yogurt, mini-bagels, croissants, toast, cold cereals, and breakfast bars. Not particularly impressive, but better than having to go out for breakfast. I would have no hesitations about staying here again.

Yelp
Although the staff were friendly and location decent, the room itself was a complete mess. The decor is dreary and the bathroom was disgusting to the point I did not want to be barefoot inside the shower. The shower pressure was so strong that it hurt and was not adjustable. The beds were so uncomfortable my S.O. literally tossed and turned but could not sleep for two consecutive nights. To top it off, there is no luggage storage at the hotel. After check out we had to walk a couple blocks in the rain with all of our luggage and paid $40 to store our bags for a few hours until our flight. No one informed us that we would be having to pay to store our bags. Initially we decided to go with this hotel hoping to save a few bucks and regretted it deeply. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Yelp
Hotel was great when i checked in. Michael and Lucy was very friendly and made check in a breeze, by helping me get everything squared away and making my stay very home like. I really do recommend this hotel and it's truly a hidden gym in New York ! So don't be afraid to check out this hotel , I'm telling you , you'll be missing out !

Yelp
As per the hotel website and the postcards at the front desk, this is a 4-star boutique hotel. Although I can see how that is possible, this hotel has one huge disaster that they call "room service". The hotel itself is fairly new and is currently completing renovations in the lobby. The rooms are big for NYC standards and are very nicely decorated. Super clean! The rooms are also very modern, with big TVs, cool light controls and an iPad in all guest rooms that lets you place requests with the front desk and housekeeping teams. We only stayed one night and requested some extra towels via the in room iPad, but unfortunately they never arrived. Additionally, we decided to order room service, which we soon learned was a huge mistake. Room service is provided by HK Hell's Kitchen, but as stated on the room service menu, the restaurant is "'not affiliated or connected in anyway with Cassa Times Square Hotel". Weird. Clicked the "room service" button on the in room phone around 11:00PM, but somehow got connected to the front desk, who informed us that we must dial the actual phone number on the menu. We did and placed our order, but when it had not arrived at 12:30 (1.5 hours later), we gave the restaurant a call again. They said they were super busy, but that the order will be on the way soon. When it arrived (around 1AM), I expected the charges to be placed on the room bill, like a normal hotel, but I was asked to pay at delivery. When I took my card out, the delivery person said to call the restaurant to provide my card number over the phone and she walked away with our food, stating that she'll come back once the payment is processed. Although I didn't feel too safe providing my card number over the phone, I did it anyway as we were starving and really just wanted our food. The delivery lady came back and presented us our food, in take out containers. Usually, room service is on a tray and actual plates. The food looked and smelled amazing, but unfortunately, no utensils were provided. Had to make my way down to the front desk to get some utensils. Eventually, we got to enjoy the food, which was amazing, but the process and delay of ordering room service at this hotel would prevent me from any future orders and sort of bummed our stay. The staff at the front desk (never saw any bellman) were great and super friendly. This hotel could definitely be something amazing, if it could just fix the issues mentioned above.

Yelp
The hotel staff was so rude the min I walked in the door...The lobby smelled like steal beer and weed...I would not stay here even if it was free...I left as soon as I walked in I was horrified....I told the owner what happened and he charged my credit card $217.00 for a stay I never had ..I am now in court with the hotel....do yourself a HUGE favor and stay at the Crown Plaza which is actually in Times Square this hotel is not in Times Square..

Yelp
This place is filthy. The walls are dirty, theirs mold, the curtains are stained, the bed sheets are stained and the room looks like it might have been broken into some time in the past. I felt unsafe staying there and unwelcome by some guy named Michael who worked the front desk.

Yelp
I don't know where the rooms are in the Cassas Hotel that you see in these photos. My wife and I prepaid for three nights stay and were surprised how much different room 223 is than the photos. It has two large columns in it, one in front of the window. No carpet, no drapes, nothing on the walls, and no desk, lamp or chair. There was one small square chair in the corner and that's the whole room. In the bathroom, no bathmat, no wash cloths, one glass, no conditioner, ....No plugs by the bed for recharging devices. If you want to stay here, ask to see your room first. Room 223 is a hard "no."

Yelp
Location was awesome. Right down the street from Times Square, centrally located with easy access to everything. They make you pay a security deposit (reasonable), but it's been 2 weeks since we've been back and they still haven't refunded our's. Unacceptable amount of time for a business to refund a deposit.

Yelp
So far pretty good. Bathroom could be a bit cleaner considering how new it is. Will update as the days go by.

Yelp
We stayed here for our last couple of nights in Manhattan and I was definitely happy with the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Checking in was a breeze, especially considering I booked through a third party. The room was clean and modern. The air conditioning worked well, which helped with the crazy humidity/heat going on last week. The bed and pillows were comfortable and clean. I loved the mirror in the bathroom and the water pressure in the shower was awesome (but watch out if you have sensitive nipples). They've got free breakfast and coffee in the morning and a wine and cheese hour in the evening which is a nice touch. If you tell a taxi driver or Uber to take you to Cassa Hotel, make sure you specify which, as there are two, this one being the Hotel and Residences.

Yelp
We stayed here recently. Place is ok. Rooms are clean and decent size for New York. Staff was very nice and accommodating. It just seemed run down - like a fresh coat of paint was needed. We thought it was new - but looks like it's had alot of wear and tear. Walls are thin. Some nice touches - happy hour, bottle of wine in room.....

Yelp
I thought this hotel was fabulous. Would give it 4.5 stars because of a couple of little things but I was left with such a great feeling and it added to my trip. The staff were very friendly and approachable. The rooms were quite big for New York. I booked through booking.com and it all went through smoothly. The beds were super king size which was amazing. They have a rooftop hot tub and whilst they don't have a bar up there yet, you can bring your own drink. So it really added to my holiday having Prosecco on a rooftop in New York with views of the city all around. The gym is big enough too for the size of the hotel with everything you need. It is close to everywhere too with lots of restaurants around Hell's Kitchen and 5 mins from Times Square. The only thing was they forgot some bath items a couple of times but it's not a major annoying thing as it's resolved within seconds. Will definitely return.

Yelp
March 2016 So friendly personnel, felt like you own family. Clean and tidy hotel. Will surely come back again.
