4 More Restaurant Closures Hit Los Angeles This Week - Eater LA

"Cassell’s in Downtown quietly closed recently. Co-founded by chef Christian Page, Cassell’s original location was in Koreatown, founded in 1948. The Downtown location opened in 2018 and served a menu of burgers, sandwiches, and pies until its closure." - Matthew Kang

Peek Inside the New Cassell’s Hamburgers in Downtown Los Angeles - Eater LA

"Cassell’s Hamburgers has completed its takeover of the former Pellicola Pizzeria in Downtown LA, right next to the iconic Golden Gopher bar, with an opening set for October 29. Founders Christian Page, Jingbo Lou, and Elia Aboumrad took over longtime Koreatown burger joint, moving it into the ground floor of the Hotel Normandie before plotting this Downtown expansion. The menu resembles pretty straightforward modern diner, with fresh beef ground on the premises then grilled with a plush bun and toppings placed on the side of the tray. The Downtown spot also features the world-class patty melt, which Majordomo chef David Chang says is the best he’s ever had, while new items include a chicken cutlet sandwich on ciabatta roll and a hoagie with nitrate-free meats and provolone. Dante Fried Chicken, a delivery-only restaurant, will also serve chicken tenders at Cassell’s, with a wider fried chicken selection to come in the near future. In addition to some pineapple cinnamon hand pies and pies by the slice, Cassell’s will make ice cream shakes using McConnell’s ice cream. Prices for the burgers start at $10.75 and up to $12.79 for the patty melt, while salads like the Cobb or Wedge run around $12 apiece. Eventually they’ll serve breakfast, but opening hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Anyone wanting drinks can order Cassell’s at Golden Gopher next door at a kiosk, with text notification once the order’s ready. Eventually Cassell’s will serve their own beer and wine." - Matthew Kang

Finally got around to trying Cassell’s!!!🍔🍦 This classic burger spot has a diner feel and has a no frills approach to their dishes. 🍽Ordered: 1. Classic cheeseburger 2. Fries 3. Vanilla shake w/ malt (not pictured) I really enjoyed my burger and it exceeded my expectations. Cassell’s grinds premium beef in house daily for their burgers and it makes such a difference. I loved how the lettuce & tomato was separated so the bun stayed firm and perfectly toasted. Each bite was decadent and packed with fresh beef from the thick patty. 💰Price: $30 for 2 people

My favorite hamburger place in DTLA, if you are getting tired of chain store hamburger in DTLA, then you must try Cassell's, Staffs are nice, and they have some special Burger like the one we tried was B'Fast Burger, they wrap the patty and lettuce with 2 pieces round crispy hash brown instead of bread, really surprise me, and it did taste good as well! Their chicken tender (5 pieces) was very large size tender, very tender and juicy, and Spicy California Burger was not that spice with cilantro, lime juice, avocado and spice mayo (btw spicy mayo tasted good) a little bit mexican fusion, we also ordered tuna melt, the toast was crispy, tuna salad was fresh, also a good choice if you want something light. Onion ring and milk shakes was fair. Overall the food was all delicious. Will visit again, and next time I would like to try their dessert.

I was expecting more frankly speaking. Place is very nice, kitchen super clean etc. Burgers are OK I was expecting more. I ordered medium rear and I got medium close to well done. Sauce was ok. Mustardy mayo is good. They were out of vanilla Cole and cherry Coke house made otherwise I would have tried that. The server made a few mistakes forgetting or adding something, but was not a big deal.

Tried the red velvet and enjoyed a tasty treat not too sweet on the senses. The inside is like a 50's Diner and simply adorable.

I originally planned on coming here for my cheat day but my roommate wanted burgers and I live 4 blocks away so we ended up here! This place received great reviews on MSN. Voted in the top 100 burgers in the USA. *Side Note it was a non cheat day for me* i got the lettuce wrapped burger and these tater spuds my roommate got the chicken sandwich and shake. Great taste on both being that I didn’t get a bun or a shake I’ll be back soon to redeem both on my next cheat day! Staff super friendly great vibe and set up! I’ll be back for sure!

Good burgers in the heart of dtla went out of our way to find and eat here. Small place but service was awesome and quick. Those fries were to die for, they had truffles in them!! The burgers were decently sized and tasted pretty good. Would recommend!
