"At the back of this unassuming supermercado, knowledgeable diners will find some of the best Mexican food in the city, with a buffet that changes daily. The classic chiles rellenos hold the perfect blend of cheese and oregano in the fried poblano pepper, and the chicken tamales never miss. And the whole mojarra dorada fish, lightly battered and fried, is a light and crispy delight." - Jenise Silva

Google
A smaller store than I expected, but a great variety, including Yerba Mate (2 types) and Napolitos. The counter restaurant served us delicious chicken mole and whole fried tilapia. Tasty and filling.

Google
Awesome Mexican supermarket; probably one of the best ones I’ve seen in the Seattle area. Very nicely organized and efficient use of space; huge self-serve bakery section with tons of breads and pastries. They had a lot of LatAm beers which was really interesting. Didn’t have an opportunity to check out the restaurant but looks fire.

Google
Based on the size of the Store, this store has a very good selection of Mexican & Latin products, you can find from different kind of nuts, Chips of many kinds, and so on, Fruit & Vegetable selection is acceptable and decent, You can also find a good selection of prepared meat just ready to cook for to cook on your grill, Also you can find a small restaurant inside that have a good selection of Mexican food. Finally they have an outside grill area where they cook meats ready for you to pickup if required.

David Villacis

Google
Really good assortment of latin food, was able to find some things not others supermarkets have and good prices.

Google
absolutely terrible rosca de reyes. incredibly dry. nowhere near to the traditional taste of a rosca. absolute waste of money.

who got cheese

Google
As much as I love them they served me expired frijoles.Tasted like Sharpee markers, i was starving and two huge mouth bites i gave up.That means they refrigerate till almost expiration.I rather go to the food trucks and I know for a fact they are fresh.Plz bcarful my people I love they're bread and chips and such but I'm staying away from the food court. ✌️ Por todo mi gente cuidado.

Google
I love this store! It has great variety of products for being a smaller store. You can buy just about all your house hold needs in one place. The butcher part of the store is fantastic. Great meats seasoned or not. Don’t sleep on this store!

Google
Had no idea what I was doing when I walked in here. I've never bought fresh exotic fruit before. The gal at the counter we're super nice and helped me find a couple pomegranates and guavas super quick. I'll be back for sure!!! Thank you!

Yelp
Solid Mexican market with tons of items you don't find in regular grocery stores, and a good restaurant in the back as well. They have tons of meats, produce, & I was particularly happy to find Mexican candies like Duvalin and Bubu Lubu (plus Pulparindo but I feel I see that one more commonly). The best part is the little restaurant in the back. We got the sopes - chicken and chorizo - and they were delicious. Their fresh salsas were super good as well (red is spicy and green is mild). The service was super friendly.

Doris G.

Yelp
Fresh pastries, tons of freshly sliced meat, produce. A small restaurant in the back. The have beer too.

Jim T.

Yelp
The only grocery store I walk around filled with joy the whole time I am there. Variety, fun, mystery, and every obscure Mexican ingredient under the sun. And piñatas.

Ann C.

Yelp
Where food is cooked in the back. I found a hair in my dish. So heads up. After 20 hours in ER from eating out. I have to be very careful where and what I eat. I almost died from food poisoning to the point I had to get a Hep-A vaccine yesterday and another Hep-A next year. It's no joke I could have died. You have been warned if you eat here. Good luck.

Diana X.

Yelp
Lots of baked goods, small but excellent selection of fresh Mexican produce, and lots of bulk ingredients you might not necessarily find in a larger grocery chain (including several varieties of those cool tamarind straws for micheladas). The place is pretty small and also has a hot bar/small restaurant, along with a bakery/panaderia with people picking up a bunch of stuff + lots of things not necessarily translated to English - a good sign to me, and lots to explore within the size of the store :)

Joe F.

Yelp
This market has all the fun and flavor of a proper latino grocery store. There is music playing, all the delicious prepared foods via a mini restaurant the back and a great selection of meat from the butcher section. The chincharon and hot carnitas are to die for! Not to mention the bakery section that may have the very best donuts in town. I have been to big stores and this one although small beats them all. Not much to say bad about it.. perhaps the religious people who solicit outside the door but that just me being picky.

Jasmyn R.

Yelp
Tamales here are terrible they are super dry and the meat is so hard and it just tastes horrible , almost as they've been sitting there for days . Los tamiles aquí saben horrible , están secos y duros y tienen sabor a quemado la carne está dura y la masa esta súper grasosa hasta parece que estuvieran ahí por días, y no se diga de la señora que te atiende , muy mal todo.

Bryan T.

Yelp
Love the selection of dried peppers, and the classic Mexican pastries. Great little shop with friendly cashiers.

Alex G.

Yelp
First let me start by saying I've been coming to this store since I was a little boy I'm now in my 20s but I will not be coming back I was buying some cake and ordering some food when I see a huge cockroach crawling from underneath the sweat bred

Alicia B.

Yelp
I ate at the Castillo supermarket restaurant inside and I look behind me and see a small cockroach crawling on the wall. It definitely made me and my family lose our appetites after witnessing this.

Amanda L.

Yelp
I have always liked this store, but my last experience made me love it! I walked in there needing a boatload of pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread for the non Spanish speakers) thinking I would find a few pieces then forcing me to go from store to store to gather my quotient. Uhn, uhn...not the case here. They had a plethora of fresh bread ready to go...at 4:30 p.m. nonetheless! I was able to gather my load in one stop. Awesomeness! To make it even more amazing, I was helped, I mean beyond the call of duty, by Lionel. A wonderful young man who was the nicest, most respectful, most helpful person I've met in a long time. If service was a contest, he is far ahead of the pack when it comes to providing an outstanding customer experience. He helped me select, count, package and carry my haul to the car. What??? Almost unheard of these days. This gentleman deserves to be recognized and I hope someone who is responsible for his promotability (perhaps not a word, but I just coined it) sees that about him as well. Anyway Castillo's, keep it up. You are great for the community and I will continue to send folks you way.

Yelp
The most beautiful avocados I've ever had. I haven't been able to find bimbonuelos in years and they had them and a bunch of other Bimbo pastries. Their mini conchas were phenomenal, as was the carne we got for grilling for the Super Bowl.

Yelp
This place is known for their bakery, its located right next to what used to be Albertsons but now is like another version of a Saars. Anyway... This mexican tienda has all the main necessities you might need for cooking up a mexican dinner. Hojas de maiz, fresh veggies, juices, sodas, drink mixes, beans, fresh baked goods, fresh baked flan, canned goods, pinatas, a tiny little restaurant inside, all sorts of cuts of mexican meat. NOTE: I think the precut taco de Carne Asada meat here is cut better than Guadalupes which is down the street. Also their prices on meat are fairly reasonable too. I just bought shrimp with head on for $5.49 a lb and these were pretty good sized too! ons of calling cards along the wall, medicines, bathroom necessities, etc. I go here very often to get what my hubby needs for his mexican cravings. Staff is friendly and always nice. Pretty okay priced for the area too. But if you want some good flan come here and get some, its yummy fresh and good! They also just FINALLY added a auto sliding entrance, THANK GOD! so helpful especially when I bring my son with me!

Adrienne A.

Yelp
I'm from Texas and I've never been able to find the foods that made me feel like home. Thank you for making me feel whole Castillos.

Josue C.

Yelp
Always double check you receipt because this store be charging you for extra items that you didn't grab or mess up prices for the meat!!! The workers always be doing this!!!

Iky F.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed of this store such a cheap owners couldn't afford for any single candy of Halloween day, when my kids got into the store they sadly just said we don't have have candies for trick or treat!!!

Oliver A.

Yelp
This is great if you're looking for certain Mexican products from Mexico, as an other reviewer said, "it's like being in Mexico." Some products are a little overpriced than at other supermarkets, like some snacks/chips/drinks. I do like how they have Carnitas and Cicharones, but only on certain days. I would deduct a star, but I won't. The reason being that having 3 cashiers, two of them, at least every time I've been there, they're counting money. It's fine, but it makes a line that takes a while.

Solisco G.

Yelp
As good as it gets... in Seattle. This place has a bakery, kitchen, and meat market aside from it's grocery products. The food in the kitchen is great. I love their chicharones en salsa verde with fresh tortillas and their mini salsa bar. Their pan dulces look a bit scrawny but boy do they deceive. They are delicious! I shop here about once a month, I actually alternate between this place and another Mexican grocery store out in Burien. Since I live downtown I don't frequent here as often but hey, it's worth the wait and drive.

Alberto A.

Yelp
We usually eat Mexican food at restaurants. A few days ago we decided to try the food at Castillos Supermarkets. We ordered chicharrón guisado and side orders of refried beans and rice and we were pleasantly surprised by the deliciousness of the food. We highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Pasteleria Del Castillo is a tiny tiny Mexican bakery and shop in White Center. I have been going to Del Castillo since it opened when I was in middle school. This place is yummy. I pretty much only go to Del Castillo for the pan dulce (literal translation is sweet bread which is Mexican pastries). It is the best pan dulce I have had and its cheap. I have tried many a pan dulce in other Mexican bakeries in Seattle and none hold a candle to the those made at Del Castillo. Also they make tres leche cake which is translated to three milk cake. This is the most moist cake known to man. Typically the cakes are decorated with so much flair the tops of the boxes won't even fit. When I was 15 I had a quinceanera and my mom got my cake from there. It was filled with fresh strawberries. I'm drooling right now reminiscing about it. Now, I know White Center has this reputation about being a "scary" place but its not at all. I would encourage everyone to come down south and try the pan dulce. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
I go to the RESTAURANT alot and now these couple of days the ribs in green salsa havent been undercook and since i order to go they put only big bones barely any meat i called the manager and told her about the meat and that they only gave me bones and she said that the ribs were only bones i told her that then i pay to get only bones she said no and she said to go and show her but i live far away and i dont have time to go everytime they mess up bad experiance i used to like it alot but now since they dont CARE about regular costumers im think im not going thee for a while

Michelle B.

Yelp
All i gotta say is damn! So glad to have found a place that has chicharron!!! I live all the way in Shoreline and come down here to get my fix and it is so worth it! I have yet to find a place near me that has this type of chicharron that i like, and until then i will always come to Castillos! They have a lot of other things to offer like a deli, hot foods, and a bakery. I also love how they have a little cart that posts up outside the supermarket that sells yummy refreshing fruits. Being here reminds me of when i used to visit arizona.

Yvonne-Victor G.

Yelp
Love green avocado salsa, rare fruits, authentic ic food served daily--- $1.99 tres leche cake in a cup with strawberry !!! Amazing?!!

Alice R.

Yelp
Yes,Castillo's has a great selection of Mexican shopping needs, but, it could be better. I live in White Center and shop this store often. I am very leery of the quality & cleanliness of their meat. I have a friend who use to work there some time ago and recommended me NOT to purchase my meat from this store. I never have. Everything else I buy there is OK. I only purchase items that have been packaged or canned. The employees are always kind and helpful and the prices are great for a tight budget. :)

Ray I.

Yelp
Tastey cakes are made in the back rooms of this bakery/grocery. They are too big for there boxes at times (super tall, with loads of succulent frostings). There cakes are Tres Leche styled, rich & scrumptious. I am (fruitlessly - because the cakes are filled with fresh fruit too!) trying to find another adjective. Half or full sheet cakes are available.

Theresa H.

Yelp
We love the chicharrones and carnitas here. They are super duper good. There are other good Mexican staples in the small produce aisle and a decent selection of Mexican beer. I haven't tried any of the baked goods, but they look fabulous.

Jenny M.

Yelp
One star for selling wonderful teleras (Mexican bolo bread for sandwiches, soft and yummy) and good pan dulce. But hey, they are a bakery so it better be good, right?. Another star for having a good selection of Mexican groceries at standard prices. And no more stars. If you are Mexican and picky, stay away from Pan de Muerto and Rosca de Reyes (holiday breads). Both are mediocre. The Rosca today was a huge disappointment. It was $16 for a small (6-8 people) and the toppings were horrible. Candied real orange peel, canned pinapple, canned peaches, maraschino cherries, and some red syrup. Groooss.

Gabriel P.

Yelp
Not many places sell whole lengua, pan dulce (sweet bread), good Mexican food, and fresh produce. Not to mention, it was recommended by the women who run the kitchen are La Carta de Oaxoaca. The lack of Yelp reviews doesn't mean this place is unknown. It is well established among the local Mexican community. Good prices and nice staff.

Jon W.

Yelp
This store is excellent! I wish they had more candy; their selection isn't quite as big as other stores, but it's still decent. The produce is fresh, they have pan, and a good selection of meat and salsas. I'll definitely come back.

Aaron T.

Yelp
Best chicharron I have found in Seattle! Authentic Mexican grocery store and deli -- extremely rare in Seattle.

Mike R.

Yelp
Dishonest business practices. I was charged $19.98 for a purchase of 2 items, but only given a receipt for $9.99. I had to be reimbursed for the purchase from my company and when I noticed the difference in the total, I went back to Castillos and asked for a proper receipt. They told me they couldn't remember the transaction so I was out of luck. I don't know if the cashier was taking the money that wasn't rung up or if the company encourages this to avoid taxes, but I would steer clear of them either way.

Ian P.

Yelp
Killer pan dulce and pupusas. Wonderful cheap salsas. Cheap as could be. What a wonderful world we live in.

Rafael G.

Yelp
It's like being in Mexico! Lots of great imports and a small selection of produce. Great place to stock up on limes, cheaper than most groceries. Their seasoned taco meats and fajitas are amazing.

Cecelia D.

Yelp
The customer service here is horrible. If SeaTac was more stocked up on Mexican stores, I wouldn't even need to come all the way over here. The older men working here just stare at you like a piece of meat instead of asking if you need help with anything. I walked around for a bit looking for some stuff after finding some prepackaged ceviche. Although I would of liked to explore more, the men in there are just straight up weirdos. So I headed to the front and My cashier didn't acknowledge me at all Until it was time to pay... go figure.!

Pearl S.

Yelp
I love this place, explored it by accident, while visiting the area. To my surprise, the store carried most of asian groceries at great prices. I get my Indian cheese (Quesa Fresca), fresh coconut, tamarind, cane suggar/jaggery at great price. You must try the pasteries in the bakery section. They are awesome at 80 cents/pc and tastes great. You also get some of kitchen utensils here, again all at a great price. Though I haven't tried the meat products, but the meat section looks very clean and hygienic. Great place to shop, go and see it for yourself!!
