"How do you get to KO Pies? Come down Marginal Street along the water, to a guard post at the gate (you're entering an active shipyard) and continue to an old brick building to the left with a giant like green butcher knife standing out of the ground next to it. The space itself is pretty simple, with an ordering area just inside the door and a few tables to the left. More seating can be found outside, with a covered patio that has a good amount of communal bench seating for those warmer days and nights. KO is an Australian restaurant. Though other options are available, the main feature of the menu is the Aurelian meat pies. A variety is offered, including one with ground beef, another with beef and cheese, a braised lamb shank pie, a curried vegetable pie, a beef stew pie, and a rotating selection of pies of the month. Get your pie as a floater (with mashed peas and potatoes with gravy on top. They also offer a selection of beers, cider, and sangria." - Nick DiStefano
"If hoppy and citrusy IPA-style beers are your go-to, you’ll appreciate Castle Island. Both the limited-release hazy IPA called Vern and the hoppy-but-approachable American-style IPA mainstay Keeper are great. Beyond those, there’s another reason why we love the Southie location: the South Shore-style bar pizza from Bardo’s. Their pies feature super thin and crispy crust and the classic “burnt” edge with cheese flowing right to the tip of it. The taproom is in a charming, warehouse-like building with doors that roll up to a lovely, plant-covered patio." - valerie li stack

"Make Black Friday less bleak at Castle Island Brewing’s Stress-Free Friday at both the Norwood and South Boston taprooms, where free bashes include yard games, South-Shore–style bar pizza and other bites from Bardo’s Bar Pizza, and a celebration of a new beer release — plus discounts on mix packs and merch; the parties start at noon (Norwood open until 9 p.m., South Boston until midnight)." - Nathan Tavares
"A pep-rally–themed second-anniversary party from 4–7 p.m. offers old-school games alongside beer and pizza from Bardo’s South Shore and music spun by DJ Begbick, creating a lively, celebratory neighborhood atmosphere." - Nathan Tavares
