"The Castro’s neighborhood market closes up shop for the winter, but it is back in action starting Wednesday, March 17, serving up spring produce, farmstead meat, and baked goods.  Days: Wednesdays" - Becky Duffett

Google
Nice atmosphere and good quality overall. Often has activity tables for kids. Only disappointing items are that it’s not entirely plant-based / vegan (they sell flesh) and not all vendors are organic. Diversity is also missing amongst many vendors.

Google
Great atmosphere brings you back to Old world markets with the charm only San Francisco can bring. Love Rainbow farms fresh berries. Achadinha Cheese Co has the best Kefir to go with blueberries or any fruit. Their fresh feta is dynamite & they also sell amazing mouth watering Berkshire pork chops, & Jersey cow steaks of the highest quality! Oh, man! Their RIBEYE steaks are the best I have ever had! Right next to those tents is Rodriguez farms with a wonderful selection of fresh veggies and watermelon. The music is beautiful and the nearby restaurants make for the perfect Wednesday night out in the Castro district. Love this market!

Great, fresh produce and fun community

Google
Small, local farmer’s market. Only about a block long and very hard to find parking. Most stands accept card. The peaches and nectarines booth at the end is the best!!

Jacqueline Tona

Google
Love having our local market weekly. It's a little bit small and you should come w cash, although some vendors take cards.

I love the castro farmers market ..everything is fresh from the farm ..😂👍❤

Google
This is a gem for the neighborhood. You can buy nearly everything for your week in one spot. Meat, fish, eggs, nuts, bread, pasta, olives, fruits (strawberries!!!!) and huge variety of vegetables. Very charming sellers that I look forward to seeing every week and every season. Love it!

Google
It has a great vibe. It's big enough to have a lot of selections, but no so big thr you think you might miss sonething.

Yelp
The big draw is you get to buy local, directly from the farmers. I'm not alone in developing relationships with certain vendors you visit every week. I've learned to like mushrooms after being schooled in how to cook them. The bread lady gave me a discount. It was late and the weather sucked. Or maybe I'm just a nice person. The farmer's market feels like village living in the heart of the big city. Yes, some of the prices are high, but im happy to support small businesses, especially now, when most are struggling. Sometimes the prices are low too. Maybe they want to sell a lot so they can pack up less when they leave. Yesterday the big line was at the strawberries. Some vendors give away samples- great way to try something new. You don't get that personal touch at Safeway.

Yelp
Great find Wednesday afternoons On Market & 16th st Really nice supplement to marina's Saturday farmers markets

Yelp
Castro Farmer's Market is my favorite local farmer's market. They block off Noe street just north of Market, so there is plenty of room to walk around. The vendors' tents are lined up in a row so they are easy to view and access. It can get quite busy at times -- often the Fifth Crow Farms stand has a line already as soon as it opens! This attests to how great their produce is. I also really like the fruit from Ken's Top Notch. There is also flowers, nuts, coffee tamales, and live music! I find the music here is usually quite chill and not blaring like at some other farmer's markets. TIP: Since the market opens at 3pm and many folks work from home in the area, it is often more crowded as soon as it opens, than it is later at 4-5pm

Yelp
After living in the Castro for a year and a half, I have my farmers' market routine down. After quick par-ooze to see what's in season and some mental gymnastics to think about what I'm making for dinner, I usually hit the booth at the end first. It's cash only (there's an atm at the liquor store on the street) and I always gotta get myself a bag of arugula and whatever else looks good. Making my way back toward market, I grab a sample from the dip and flatbread guy try to resist buying the garlic yogurt dip (I usually fail). I always end my farmers' market run at the mushroom stand (so my soft little fungi have a safe spot at the top of my bag) to get some oyster mushrooms. I used to be anti-mushroom, but now I'm trying to perfect crispy pan fried mushrooms. Thank you mushroom stand for converting me.

Shylow S.

Yelp
Good selection of items, but a bit overpriced at some stalls. A small amount of coriander for $2? The brownies are not very good alas it's a farmers market. The berry and mushroom vendors are consistently good

Ivan R.

Yelp
Been shopping here every once in a while and it continues to be a 3 star experience. Maybe I just go to the wrong vendors - but I am not blown away by the quality of the produce I purchase. Latest one to disappoint is the vendor that is selling apricots for $2.50 a pound - left hand side if you are facing Duboce Park. This is what one of the apricots looks like on Friday (purchased on Wednesday). Be careful what you buy!

Yan Z.

Yelp
small but high quality farmer's market. i rarely have time to grocery shop in the mornings, so i appreciate that this farmers market is from 4-7pm. (march thru november only) the mushrooms from e&h farms were out of this world! the strawberries from another vendor were also really good. when i went around 5:30pm, it wasn't too crowded and there weren't any lines.

Raf R.

Yelp
I've been shopping at the market for years and it comes back every season worse than before, not better. My final gripe is about how items are sold and prices counted. The vendor adds up the smaller amounts into their own head as the bags are packed and they offer no way to verify that their total is accurate. Very arrogant attitude if you bring that up. After another altercation about the ability of some stressed out vendor to count without a piece of paper or a calculator I will stop going for good. Enough being treated like shit by rushed vendors as I pay top dollar for produce that is increasingly not the best. I wonder if it's legal to sell like that.

Arlene C.

Yelp
On my way to Whole Foods, I caught a glimpse of someone carrying 3 baskets of strawberries. I quickly turned to the left to see that the farmers market was open. After crossing the intersection I saw a space that had my name on it and jockeyed for it. I know that if the Karmic parking Gods have graced you with a space space, it was meant to be. The intimacy of a one block market makes your decisions easy and simple. The two produce vendors are placed at the ends. Prices are a little high, but selections are good considering the space.

Yelp
I love going to Farmer's markets especially on the weekdays. Castro St. has a Farmer's Market every Wednesdays from 4pm-8pm. And the Farmer's Market is located on the one block of Noe St. I'm a big fan of all the Summer fruits. And every local farmers from various parts of the state come to all the Farmer's Market including this one, to showcase and prove the fruit-lovers like myself that their respected farm grows the best produce at competitive prices. I love peaches and nectarines and five of the farms with the respected tents each were selling them for about $2.00 per pound. I bought three of each from the Arata Farm out of Watsonville, CA. One of the peaches I had was hard and firm, but sweet and juicy. I actually enjoyed that fuzzy treat despite the pit cracked on me, thus biting sharp pieces of the pit towards the end. The Peaches and Nectarines needed to be in a sealed paper-bag for a couple of days in order to age and soften up. Now, there's a tip for you, for those who didn't know! Other local company and vendors with tents such as the Frog Hollow Farm, Cowgirl Creamery, Home-Maid Pasta and North Beach's own- Cafe Brioche. And yes, I'm a big fan of Cafe Brioche's pastries, so I bought three Buttered Croissants and three Almond Croissants for $2.50 each. I was told that the bakery also sold cupcakes, but they sellout quick. I'll just go to the actual North Beach bakery and get some of those cuppycakes. I also had samples of the Strawberries and they were incredibly sweet and juicy. Next Wednesday, I'll be back and pick up a half-crate for $7.00. And I'll try my best to shop here every Wednesdays until the end of October.

Yelp
I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even know there was a farmers' market in the Castro until I accidentally saw it as I was getting off the F-Line on my way to Dinosaurs on a Wednesday evening. When I saw the flurry of activity, crates of produce, and even a musician performing to inattentive shoppers, I recognized that this was more than a block party. On the price spectrum of farmers' markets, it's probably closest to the one in Noe Valley or Alemany versus the twice-weekly Heart of the City in Civic Center, but the Castro version definitely didn't feel premium priced like the Ferry Plaza Marketplace despite the presence of familiar vendors like Prather Ranch with a full selection of meat. You can also get smoked fish from Cap'n Mike or any number of packaged goods from soap to honey to to homemade pasta to sorbet. But the main attraction is still the fresh produce - the apricots, the raspberries, the greens from curly endive to kale, the heirloom tomatoes, the elephant garlic, the mushrooms - basically everything you need to impress your friends at your next dinner party. Located on Noe as it intersects Market from the north side, the market is open every Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM from mid-March to mid-December. Truth be told, the reason I like this one in particular is that it's open during the evening hours when I am far more likely to be shopping for food. I'm not a morning person.

Yelp
We happened about Castro Farmers' Market every Wed 4-8pm March 14-Dec 19, 2012. It's about 25 min up 16th Street Bart, we walked, no reason to drive there. It's on Market & Noe St. No Dogs allowed. I hate when people bring their dogs! Can't they read the signs? I saw Heirloom Tomatoes $3/lb, Basil $1.75 bunch, Early Girl $4/lb Dry Farmed Tomatoes, lots of sweet peaches, nectarines, plouts, cheeses, Indian dips. I stopped at City Bees - guy sold local honey, $10 jar: Twin Peaks, Mission, West Marin Blackberry honey, Sonoma Wildflower, pollen. I picked up a small $10 jar of The Mission 22nd & Dolores! So tasty. Buy 9 jars, get 10th FREE w/ Frequent Buyer Card! Scream Sorbet was there a bit off to the side of the main Farmers Market on the corner. Delicious sorbets! Pistachio is my favorite, but all are very delicious! $3 tiny scoop. They are on Facebook: Castro Farmers' Market - be a Fan!

Yelp
I didn't expect this market coming when I was breezing through Castro! I am glad to encounter this lovely, fresh and local produce market. They have enough stalls that serves up the basic greens, fruits, bakery delights and seafood selections. It's a nice communal spot. Dropping by on Wednesdays between 4-8pm (note to self).

Nicholas G.

Yelp
This farmer's market is small, but it packs a punch. I was able to find everything I needed for my kitchen within a one block radius. That's efficiency. The Castro farmer's market takes place every Wednesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. If you're nice, you can start doing a bit of chatting and shopping around 2:30pm. There are lots of awesome local farmers and vendors here, ranging from Feel Good Bakery in Alameda to From the Sea to You in Santa Cruz. A little bit here for everyone. The prices may be a little here than usual, but it's good to chat with the people growing and raising what I'm eating. My father was a farmer, so I know the importance and benefits of knowing where you food comes from, and how it's sold to consumers. Grab a bag and give this wonderful market a shot sometime.

Janice C.

Yelp
I wasn't paying attention when I boarded the Muni train. Obviously, I took the wrong one, otherwise, I wouldn't have discovered this farmer's market on Noe and Market st. They're here every Wednesday from 4pm-8pm. There's only about 10 stalls here. Vendors with their brightly colored produce, the mushroom man with his stall appropriately named: "Fresh Mushrooms", Frog Hollow Farms with their quiche and pastries, another vendor selling pesto, marinated olives, olive oil, smoked salmon, cheese, etc. I didn't linger because I was in a rush to catch the right Muni this time, but I did pay a visit to Rodin Farms' stall. Boy, that sign wasn't lying when it said: "SWEET NECTARINES" for $2 a pound, how can I resist? The sweetest, juiciest nectarines I've had. Slightly firm to the touch with a soft bite. It's succulent juice bursts in my mouth. Ah.....the taste of summer. On a fog-filled SF day.

Yelp
Website: http://www.pcfma.com/market_home.php?market_id=64 http://www.facebook.com/CastroFarmersMarket Organizer: Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association Season: March-December Schedule: Wednesdays 4-8pm Good variety of vendors (fresh fruit, produce, flowers, honey, olive oil, fresh organic eggs, smoked seafood, baked goods, sauerkraut, etc.) at this mid size FM, that occupies the street next to Cafe Flore. It's one of the few evening FMs (Noe Valley, Upper Haight, and new Mission Community Market) in SF. http://media2.ct.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/IXGUdgKup-2MSXK7mDVdOQ/l ** Update: This FM's original schedule was Apr. to Oct., but due to demand it was extended by 2 months: Nov.-Dec. @3-7pm. And in 2011 a half month was added to start mid-March. Hooray!! It's a really pleasant space and a nice resource of artisan food products for local residents, like a little European style oasis. An evening respite, while cars are zooming by on Market street. Finding street parking is extremely difficult, but there's a nearby parking garage that charges $10, on Market street just a block before reaching the FM. http://media2.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/4RHh2rO9U4uEpm6OTMGA9A/l There are 2 bakeries: Brioche Bakery is a popular stand at several other PCFMA FMs, and Urban Bread (their retail store is 2 blocks away). http://media1.px.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/rv0X8ABxXWMxXruXYEUB7Q/l I could smell the sauerkraut vendor from a distance. Not many prepared foods vendors other than the bakeries and the bolani stand. So for a quick bite, I'd usually stop by Dinosaurs for banh mi sandwiches, located on the other side of Market street. And there are many nearby restaurants (Sushi Time, Eiji, etc.) if u prefer a more formal meal.

Jessica T.

Yelp
This farmer's market only continues to expand and improve. I love seeing new vendors here, and recently with the earlier nights - there's something quite lovely about seeing a dimly lit farmer's market bubbling with life, music and radiant produce. I've actually found some better deals here on squash and beets - than Civic Center's farmer's market - which is impressive - considering that Civic Center's Farmer's market usually boasts some of the best prices around for produce. I love the variety of stands here, from dairy free sorbet, to fresh fruit, honey, nuts, vegetables, pasta, freshly made bread and more. Farmer's markets make my heart sing and there's no better way to begin my uphill trek to yoga - than a quick stop at this local wonderland. Trust.

Shannon Z.

Yelp
Cute & small farmers market but it has all you need for a mid week, Wednesday market. Skip the Safeway run & come here instead. Or better yet, park at the Safeway- walk down the block & come to the farmers market then go to Safeway for everything else. I really loved the 'Home Maid' raviolis & sauces! The food is really good, stuff & prices are comparable to Whole Foods. They even sold fresh 'crauts in the barrel!

Debora L.

Yelp
Corner of Market and Noe, near Hot Cookie (nice location). Good variety of fresh fruit, veggies, pre-made foods, and a few baked goods. When we visited last week, stone fruits (huge peaches, nectarines, pluots, Ranier cherries the size of golf balls) were in season, as well as heirloom tomatoes, plump blueberries, red strawberries from Gilroy, and even a vendor selling $3 baskets of Mission figs (a steal). My personal favorite is always the Bolani vendor with their delicious, generous free samples. A lot of the other vendors have lots of produce samples too. The fresh made pasta, fresh honey, kale chips, roasted nuts and fruits, and beautiful orchids are also charming to look at. There were a few musicians jamming, and the vibe was so comfortable I made my husband walk through with me no less than 5 times. Prices can be expensive (although average for SF): Frog Hollow farms produce and baked goods were $4.90/ lb for peaches, $2-$3 for a baked good. No produce was under $2/ lb. So nice to visit, on a warm day in the city when the sun sets late!

Yelp
It may be the last day of April , but today it was Summer in San Francisco ! I really liked the energy at the Market it was the perfect way for those of us coming home from work to make that transition from office stress to enjoying a beautiful evening. For me this is less about having a way to replace my weekly shopping, and more about just getting out , and picking up some special things at the market, and grabbing dinner in the area. My go to place is right next door at Cafe Flora. So my suggestion if your in the area on a Wednesday evening hit the Market, grab some Dinner,

Sean B.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised. I had a chip on my shoulder, probably because the traffic jam caused by the road closure always makes my commute ugly. But I went with some neighbors recently, decided to make dinner wholly from what we got here, that night. It came out really well, there were really a lot of friendly local folks hawking their wares professionally and personally, and it was a lot of fun. Four stars instead of five only because, in honesty, the three of us could have eaten out, cheaper.

Camille L.

Yelp
Cute, small, intimate. Crazy parking situation so don't drive here.

Nobu K.

Yelp
This is a great deal. I mean it's real great deal. For every thing on the street was just wonderful. People were nice, happy with cute tents for organic fruits, veges, cheese, bread, smoked salmon, pastries and soups. I LOVED IT. Especially the Cheese booth. Spring Hill, there were 2 cute gals, Oh Man they were really nice. I was thinking that I had to get something because them but I was so didn't know what to get. I got a garlic jack, 1lb for $6. Great stuff. And there was Serendipity Farms. I got a organic strawberry jam. And I got 4 REALLY Fresh Dai-kon from unknown farms. I am really glad I were there. Thanks to whoever coordinating this. People were doin' such a good job. I gotto go back there again. This is great deal. P.S. I wasn't hanging out to lookin' for an action or anything. I was just driving by and try to go to a Sushi place on the same street but I changed my mind.

Annika S.

Yelp
This is a great farmers market. I enjoyed the variety of different stands including a bakery, empanadas, kimchi, fruit and veggies--all which looked exceptional (and some which tasted exceptional as well). Highly enjoyed the music.

Fancypants X.

Yelp
It's amazing what you can happen upon in the city when you're not even looking. The reasons I love SF can't be listed in one review or even one lifetime, but one of those reasons is the abundance of local farmer's markets. The BFF & I stumbled across this one purely by dumb luck. This particular farmer's market is small but not limited in products. All the major food groups are covered: pastries, frozen raviolis, hummus & dips, smoked salmon, olive oil, fruits, and cheese. Most of the fruits had samples out. The one that really caught my attention were the red nectarines, so sweet & so symbolic of summertime (even though summer is coming to a close.) I bought 2 for $1.20 ($2 a pound.) This is a fantastic farmer's market if you are in a rush, but need to find a quick, healthy, organic lunch.

Evan L.

Yelp
The Castro Farmers Market is happening every Wednesday thru October from 4 - 8 p.m. at the corner of Noe and Market between The Lookout and Cafe Flore. Come here to get some seriously great deals on fresh produce, baked goods and even a few fun crafts. It's a super cute addition to the neighborhood and an increase in traffic would be great. You might even get lucky and find me hanging out near my roommate's booth in the back (Arata Farms). Stop by, say hi, have some peaches or plums or cherries or one of the 819856981 things he grows. My best guess is that if more people show up, more vendors will show up and more people means that we can maybe get Madonna to show up, or at least someone third rate like Solange. Deal? Deal!

Chris H.

Yelp
My favorite Farmer's Market. I highly suggest the lettuce from the first booth on the right as you enter from Market. The Strawberries in the far back booth are about as big as your fist (only a slight exaggeration), and the macaroons in the middle are pricey and worth it. They'll sell you singles too, so treat yourself to a macaroon. Seriously bomb.comaroons. The almond seller in the middle has like 72 flavors of almonds with samples of each. And thank you to the peach guy in the first booth to the left coming in from Market St, who gave me a free peach "for being cool". You sir, you are the cool one Mr. Peach Guy. You're the real hero here.

evan Y.

Yelp
I'm a huge Farmers Market fan - I think every neighborhood deserves one. So, you can imagine my excitement when we finally got one in the Castro. Took long enough! The food is great, the vendors are all nice, the location is perfect, and I'm excited to see it expand. So why only two stars? Let me explain... I will probably not go again because of how horribly it's run. EVERY TIME I am there the place is over run by dogs. Now, I'm the ultimate dog lover - I live on Duboce Park and am nearly obsessed with them. But, there are signs at the Market that say, "no dogs". I've literally seen people walk right by the sign, with their dog, have a discussion about it an still enter. Someone needs to enforce that rule - sanitation please! So, that wasn't the worst of it, last week I saw two naked guys (literally naked -like, completely, 100% nude!!) shopping. They were holding apples and shit and I just lost it and left. Hey, I'm all for the gays getting naked at 18th and Castro. It's a spectacle and all kitschy there, but not at Farmers Market where there is food and CHILDREN. Sick-en-ing. So, as soon as I see all dog owners standing on the outside of it and no naked people, I'm not going back. I love you liberal San Francisco, but for once, leave the dogs at home an throw on a pair of shorts.

Dani A. C.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check out this market for a while, and finally got the chance today. My favorite thing about it was the size: a lot of variety without being overwhelming. I don't think it was even half a block, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything. Minus major points for snobbery, though. Maybe it's because I was probably the only person under 30? I had trouble getting many vendors to even make eye contact though. The lady at Urban Bread ignored me completely, looking past me to welcome the guy who had walked up behind me! It was really weird and discouraging. There were a lot of things I was curious about, and probably would have tried out if I could've asked some simple questions about preparation. Be wary of Spring Hill cheeses as well. I was happy to find someone selling cheese curds, and the guy running the stall was super friendly. He let me try the three varieties he was selling, and they were good. However, the curds he actually sold me were NOT fresh, no squeak whatsoever. In fact, the "sell by" date on the package was the 10th - five days ago. Too bad I didn't notice it till I got home. They're still edible, but really disappointing/nonexistent flavor and texture. It's just shady. (Someone needs to get a poutine stand going in this city. There's something always coming between me and my fix!)

Anastasia N.

Yelp
What an amazing farmers market! From fresh produce, to fresh eggs and fresh seafood. I guess there's a theme... Everything is so fresh here! I picked up some marinated olives - $6. I have gotten these for $5 at other places, but it's not a big deal. I also picked up a pound of king salmon and beyond excited to bake it. Produce: nectarines, plums, cucumbers and tomatoes! One of the booths had at least 8 different kinds of tomatoes and being that I love tomatoes more than anything in the world (okay, besides watermelon), this made me super happy. The vibe at this farmers market was just perfect. Everyone was extremely friendly and smiles everywhere. There was a guy who sold poetry and was typing on one of those old fashioned type writers the entire time. Not sure what that was all about...

Klik W.

Yelp
I came across this little gem just walking over to Castro street one evening and really liked what I saw. But what drew me over was the Pranther Ranch guys who sell cuts of meat that you would never see at Safeway. They even have sales. If you know to cook a steak you will like what you get from these guys better than a very good steakhouse I'm not even kidding. They even have special offers on good cuts of meat. I'm talking grass-fed humanely-treated meat. You can taste the difference. Steak is now my new Wednesday treat for myself. Now I actually look forward to Wednesdays. Who'd have thought that was possible?

Jason B.

Yelp
I like this farmer's market, because it's so nearby first of all. :) Secondly, I like it because they sell yummy fresh ravioli! (thanks to the company, "Home Maid"). Also, they have a nice selection of fruits and vegetables to get me through a few days of eating fresh & healthy.

Brian B.

Yelp
On my first visit of the season I picked up olive oil, nuts, fruit and veggies. It was exactly what I would hope to find at a farmer's market and was a total pleasure. Some markets are so big (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) and I tend to get paralyzed by the options. However, this one is sized about right. In fact, I am going to make it a plan to try and attend every week this season! I don't live in the neighborhood, but it is worth the trip up market.

Patrick G.

Yelp
We LOVE are farmers market...every vendor is great... love the fact that they have kept it open longer wtih winter vegies and fruit.... Keep up the good great work people!

Katherine B.

Yelp
Yay! I love this market. I stop here every Wednesday for my mid-week produce and grocery re-fill. Frog Hollow Farms makes an appearance as well as this amazing company called Home Maid - try the parmesan garlic cheese spread - AMAZING. The baguette guy is there too - perfect for dipping into the cheese sauce. There are also a lot of vegetables and nuts, fresh pastas, a great mid week mini market.

Jerome C.

Yelp
The Castro Farmers Market is just like all the guys I meet in the Castro: it's not as big as I'd like, but it'll do. They've got a great selection of produce and food from a variety of vendors throughout the Greater Bay Area. I was very excited to see Happy Boy Farms there because they have THE best heirloom tomatoes. Go California organic produce!

Bay G.

Yelp
Be aware that one of the stands closest to Market Street was selling both organic and non-organic strawberries at the same stand, advertising with a HUGE sign that says "organic" and not prominently labeling the strawberries that are not organic. He did let me switch without charging me more when I realized that I had purchased non-organic strawberries, but this still struck me as a bit of a bait and switch, or at least not as clearly noted as it should be. It is great to have this in the neighborhood. Long overdue. The guys at the french pastry stand are very friendly and nice - I am slowly working my way through the amazing variety of their goods, and loving every bite of it. Odd to see a candle and soap booth - doesn't seem to fit, but I guess the market will decide that. So nice to be able to make these purchases mid-week and without going all the way down to the Ferry Building. I think this is only going to get better.

Rina W.

Yelp
I've been waiting to check out Castro's Farmer's Market and it did not disappoint. Sure it's not that big, but there's a great variety of vendors to shop from: produce, fruits, baked goods, honey, sauerkraut, meats and many many more. To boot, everyone was super friendly. Great produce for great prices. I got a bunch of bok choy (4 small bunches) for $1.75 and a bunch of rapini for even less. You can easily take care of your produce shopping here and save money than if you go to a supermarket. You can also find summer fruits and right now the nectarines are mighty delicious! There's an Afghani stand that sells delicious bolanis (stuffed flatbread) and dipping sauces (cilantro, eggplant, etc. etc. etc.). Each time they handed me a sample, I ended up buying more. Oh the trickery they played on me, but me belly will be so happy I can't complain. The mushroom stand sells the best looking mushrooms of just about every kind out there. I look forward to buying a different one each week. Castro Farmer's Market is truly a well put together effort. You'll be seeing me there every Wednesday from now on!

Kevin L.

Yelp
Cute little farmers' market. Not that I ever bought greenery here since I don't live close, but I always picked up a creme puff or a custard slice from the bakery people and it's always oh so delicious. Yes, a cream puff from the Castro market. The quiche and savory breads are fresh and tasty too.

Chris B.

Yelp
Amazing market. And not just because it's block from where we live. Great vendors. Mostly organic. Good people watching. Best stuff there: 1 pound bag of washed lettuces from Happy Boy. Lasts the entire week every time, never gets old. Awesome. Frog Hollow fruit. Expensive but pretty amazing. Happy Boy heirloom tomatoes...different price every week.

Yelp
The market is fairly small, however the products are diverse. The prices are also reasonable enough to keep me coming back. Good Job Castro Farmers Market!

Yelp
I love this farmers market. It is very conveniently located and they have great produce for good prices! A farmers market should be where you can go to get a deal on farm fresh produce but as we all probably know that is not always the case (can anyone say Ferry Building?). I love this farmers market...now we just need another one some where nearby on the weekend so we can get fresh produce a couple of times a week. Thank you JP!! In case any of you do not know we have the wonderful Cafe Flore and and the wonderful merchants on the street to thank for this wonderful farmers market.

Yelp
Gorgeous sunny days in the Castro, easy public transportation and gorgeous stalls of fresh produce, cheeses and all things right in the world (cute eye candy) make for a delicious 4 o'clock treat on any given day. Yay gay! Negative one star, because oh my geezus the egg lady is selling her eggs for $7 a dozen. . . oi!! And no, no hen comes with them. I asked.

Yelp
Just moved into the neighborhood and started going to this farmers market. It's small, but has a great variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. There is a meat vendor as well, a bakery stand with many bread options and some other random vendors. I really enjoy going there and getting super fresh produce with good prices. The meat/sausages also had a good price and good quality. Will definitely make it into my weekly routine.

Yelp
I must be a big fat moron NOT knowing there was a farmers market on Wednesdays. All the fruits were yummy and fresh, and there were tons of samples. I think my favorite part was when my gf asked how much the nectarines were and they guy said "for you, they are free. " Awesomeness. The olive tapenade spread man with his water crackers was super good, and the olive bar was great. THere were tons of choices of fruits, nuts, cheeses and pastries. I will definately be back!

Yelp
Lots of samples and everyone is really nice. Small, but a good location. Below is what I got for $17, not saying it is good or bad, just want to give a real money vs quantity example while it's fresh in my mind. *Large tomato *Small red onion *Two large sandwich rolls *Cheese spread *Five pieces of fruit *peaches, nectarines and plums) So I've been to many a farmers market, and I think I can spread my dollar a bit more than I did here. But I'm pretty shop savvy, and I think I did fairly well. If you can tell from my ingredients I was looking to make a vege sandwich (I already had some ingredients at home), so this pretty much fulfilled my need and that's good enough for me.

Yelp
Organic selection is primo, less expensive the the Ferry Bldg too. Not as good as Palo Alto in my opinion, but midweek it works. So it's not too big (that's what he said) Good people watching if you're not there to buy your greens & such but as many were, just browsing the veggies and of course, the fruits. ;) Gotta love the Castro!

Yelp
It is pretty small, but all that you need is there to buy. Organic & locally grown fruit, veggies, cheese, etc. I mean samples...yes all around...stop by the hummus section...guy rocks, gives you a try of it all & it is difficult to walkaway without buying. First visit to the farmers market in the city, looking forward to many more.

Yelp
A very small but local and friendly farmers market in the castro area! Randomly right below the Lookout, every Wednesday 4-8PM you can find some pretty great and cheap produce. It's not very crowded and the crowd is always pretty chill. Recommend coming early so you can get dibs on the good produce and bring your own bags! Signs around say dogs are not allowed but apparently people don't pay attention to them and bring their dogs anyways. You have the standard vendors but there are only a couple that have a wide range of foods while some only specialize in specific fruits/veggies (tomatoes, strawberries, peaches, apples). Unfortunately the farmers market is seasonal and is only available between March and December, so we'll have to make due from January-March.
