Catch by Simonis

"No, you are not in New York, although this impressive restaurant in the Scheveningen marina would not look out of place there with its highly fashionable decor, prestigious bottles adorning the wine walls, and luxury terrace on which to soak up the trendy atmosphere… Talk about a hip hangout! Fish and seafood steal the show in traditional dishes, seafood specialities, sushi etc. Whether classically prepared by frying in butter or drawn into original creations, the flavours of the sea take pride of place here." - Michelin Inspector

Catch by Simonis is an absolute must-visit for seafood lovers. Located in the picturesque Scheveningen harbor, the restaurant offers a perfect blend of stunning views and exceptional cuisine. The seafood here is of the highest quality— every dish is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. From their melt-in-your-mouth oysters to perfectly cooked lobster, you can truly taste the care and expertise in every bite. The location adds to the experience, with the bustling harbor atmosphere and sea breeze creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. The interior is modern yet inviting, making it ideal for anything from a casual lunch to a special evening out. The service was equally impressive; the staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to recommend the best dishes based on your preferences. If you’re seeking an unforgettable seafood experience in The Hague, Catch by Simonis is the place to go!

We are Japanese, and the salmon sushi satisfied us in quality (fish freshness), taste and presentation. Our kid liked the bongole and crab pasta as well.

This was my first time here and it did not disappoint. We were seated top floor and served by Hubert, who helped us put together a great tasteful meal and a successful date night with my fiancé. We had the small bisque, which is not on the menu but great to have while bringing in some starters like their salmon sushi roll. They have a great selection of wines, with a surprising amount of wines you can order per glass. As mains we ordered the warm seafruit dish with an extra half lobster. This restaurant is ideal for sharing your dinner, while keeping right sized portions and maintaining quality. As desert we tried their new Dubai lava cake which I highly recommend. But really, the difference for us was how we were taken care of and the eye for our needs - this is what I want to experience when I have a well deserved night out.

Google
The food is average, prices too high and the decors, staff and other patrons somewhat tacky. The food is not bad, it’s just basic. Most of the menu consists of raw or fried fish that you can get down the street for a fraction of the price. It’s not a bad choice for a nice dinner by the harbor if you’re ok paying more than it’s worth. We had the lobster.

Google
Rather generic seafood platter. Seafood isn't local/north sea, the flavours aren't strong so you can barely tell the difference between various seafood. The sauces are ok. A separate king crab dish came with an overpowering long island sauce and it just didn't work. The sole was quite good, just order that. This restaurant seems to work on fame alone. I was not impressed by the food. The service was fast and good, the location is nice

Google
It is so fresh that there is even no fishy smell. The warm dishes are a bit on the salty side, but overall, they are well-cooked. The restaurant is located on the riverside and has a beautiful view. It’s a pleasure to have dinner in such an environment.

Yelp
Great place. Service was friendly and food was very good. Place is in beautiful location and is gorgeous inside. Staff is very nice. Our table wasn't ready when we got there and yet the staff made sure we had good seats at the bar while we waited and the bartenders were so friendly. Highly recommend and would definitely go back

Yelp
The food was EXCELLENT. I had the lobster and my wife the sea bass. Best I ever had.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended and it is worth a visit. Food was delicious and perfectly prepared. I had monk fish, one of my favorites, and it was sweet, juicy, and tasty. My friend had the seared tuna, also delicious. Nice wine selection, lovely modern decor, friendly and attentive wait-staff. A little pricey, but not unreasonable for quality offered. I'd return again.

Yelp
Amazing seafood restaurant and one of the best I've ever been to! Great interior design and the exterior dining area is just as stunning. The food is unbelievably affordable compared to the United States. Atmosphere paired with the food is like bread and butter.

Yelp
Catch certainly delivers the freshest and highest quality to the table. You can see it the second you walk through the doors since they lay out a bright colorful assortment of lobsters, shrimps, and prawns for your visible pleasure. The restaurant itself is beautiful and two stories; make a reservation and you've got the perfect date night. Mine and I started with the teriyaki eel appetizer, Peking duck pancake wraps, and crispy pork belly. To my pleasant surprise, the eel was smoked and I loved it as a favorite. This starter was so good, we came back the next day to eat it again! The Peking duck pancake was filled with 2 thick juicy pieces of duck and a line of hoisin. The crispy pork belly was served with just a bit of king crab, but I would've liked a little more for the taste. We had two sushi's, the daily special and a smoked salmon roll. Ooooh the special was the best flavor in my mouth as it was stuffed with cucumber and Walmart, then topped with a delicious smoked salmon mayo mix and crunchy noodles. I've never had smoked seafood in sushi as good as this! Their wasabi isn't your typical green paste, but rather a fresh in house mix like the texture of verde salsa. I usually steer away from wasabi but this was made so well I actually had a dab in each bite. When I visit Holland again, I will definitely come back to Catch.

Yelp
Love the restaurant, they serve very fresh seafood. We tried the lobster soup, fish soup, and cold plate. The fish soup was a tiny bit salty, other than that, we had an amazing experience.

Yelp
Excellent food - friendly service - noisy environment with music too loud. Made it difficult to have a quiet conversation

Yelp
The waiters seem to be very stressed and are not respectfull to the guests. The waitress tried to give us a really shady table in the Backyard of the Restaurant. Although we kindly asked for an alternative, she replied very harshfull. The Restaurant was not crowded, a simple answer Like "sorry, the other tables have a Reservation" would be more professionell than a "No, Take it or leave" Well, we left

Yelp
I had the opportunity to try this restaurant for a wedding reception. The ambiance and decor is really nice and beautiful. We had the whole top floor for our wedding party. Sashimi appetizer -- Came with 3 pieces each of salmon, tuna, red snapper and 2 pieces of shrimp. All were quite fresh and tasty. The shrimp went well with the sweet sesame oil soy sauce. Lobster Bisque -- Not so lobster "bisque" at all. Needs more substance and not at all creamy. It didn't even contain any pieces of lobster at all. Instead, I found little pieces of shrimp. Steak Tenderloin -- 200 grams of steak. I found it odd that the waiter didn't ask how I wanted my steak or any one at all. Luckily the steak came out medium. It needed a little salt and pepper but overall it was pretty good. Chocolate Bomb -- This dessert came with chocolate mousse ball & a raspberry sorbet. The chocolate was very rich and decadent and the raspberry was refreshingly cold and sweet. It was a good way to end the meal. Service -- I found it kinda strange how the restaurant served the sashimi with a fork & knife instead of chopsticks. They also didn't refill our cups with water AT ALL. I took matters in my own hands and refilled my table with perrigrino water that I found in the ice bucket. The waiters/waitress' were essentially just there to serve out the food and that was it. It was a nicely decorated restaurant with a nice view but the food was okay and the service was below average.

Yelp
Love everything about this restaurant - the decor, the service, the ambience, and especially the food. Every dish we ordered was on point, looking fantastic and tasting amazingly delicious My guests including the scientific advisor of my company - Prof Dietze and I, we all loved it. By the way, the restaurant served real wasabi with their sushi

Yelp
The location is amazing. Just by the marina. The decoration is fine, very nice and cosy place. the food was excellent. we came a little late for lunch, the service was very kind and professional but slow..... The seafood was fresh and great. the prices are on the high side. for starters we had sushi and carpachio. Main course we had Tuna, Salmon and Tartar steak. We had Madam Blanche as desert, was very tasty and had unique ways of serving.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food. This is the place to go for fresh seafood in The Hague. Highly recommend the sole and lobster but I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of the other entrees. The menu is endless! If you love chocolate and ice cream try the Dame Blanche with warm chocolate sauce. The presentation is outstanding and taste so good! You won't regret it

Yelp
Surprisingly fresh sea food choices and plenty of good wines with reasonable prices. King Crab is one of the best hot starters to enjoy. This restaurant is worth to try in many aspects.

Yelp
Wonderful experience with great food: we had the oysters, beef, and sole. Everything was fresh and tasty.

Yelp
One of the best seafood meals I have ever had. Freshest seafood around. Service was great also. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Winner, winner.... well, except it's seabass not chicken for dinner. The fish was prepared perfectly. Not a lot of fanfare...They let the avocado puree, roasted grape tomatoes, and mussels take care of that. Even the mussels were cooked but still tender...I always over cook my shell fish. They even had BBQ sauce for my fries.... don't judge. (I can't get into the mayo thing that Europe so loves.) The caesar salad was huge. Dressing is a little different from what I'm used to, but still very good. Service was solid. I didn't feel abandoned, which is common in Europe. And the staff seem to have a great time at work. I will say, this is the 2nd time I've been to Catch. It was great the other time too.

Yelp
I've visited with a group of 10 people. The atmosphere is nice, and it's a beautiful looking place, but very noisy. We had to shout in order to hear each other. There is a lot to choose from on the menu. All of the starters sound amazing, and I had a tough time choosing. I ended up going with the sushi Combo. It wasn't the greatest. It was a small assortment of three different sushi rolls, but I thought they were trying to be a little bit too creative , and weird. It ended up tasting kind of weird . One roll had tuna, but it didn't seem like the freshest tuna I'd ever eaten. For the main I ordered the "Griet, " which came with truffle risotto. I really didn't like it, and I didn't finish my dish because the truffle oil was way too overpowering. The fish also wasn't the greatest. My husband had the pork and crab starter, he didn't like it very much. He thought the ingredients were fine separately but not together. He had the lobster as a main which he liked very much. I'm really not sure sure if I would go again. The seafood platter looked amazing so I might have to try that out, but overall I didn't think it was the greatest experience.

Yelp
Good food and service. Choice in the menu is kind of mix of Asian, French, and Dutch. The restaurant itself if Cody, but still a bit pricy. You need to count about 100 euro for a dinner for 2 without any wine.
