"“I learned about them at the Texas State Fair. I am not going to the fair without going to Catfish Floyd’s. The booth is always in the same spot. It is always super-duper hot, fresh, and seasoned.”" - DeQuilla Henderson

Was delicious @ State Fair. Loved the Tartar Sauce, Hush Puppies, & Catfish. but tried to pick up recently and the fish had a very strong smell to it like someone took a 💩 in the batter or something..the smell was so bad me & my wife couldnt even take the first bite..we literally just trashed the whole bag.

Google
Kind a like the chicken or the egg, which is first. I don't know which is better, the fried fish or the tartar sauce! Either way best I've had since moving here. Don't tell me Dallas got Houston beat! 👀👀 Get it to go, no dine in available and the parking lot is not for setting a spell. 😅😋🥰 Worth it!

My Husband had the 3pc catfish from Floyd’s at the State Fair. The food was HOT when handed over but my Husband said it was rubbery. The flavor was good but it was just off texture wise. He also through away the fries said they tasted like they were freeze dried. He wishes he’d had the food from the actual restaurant as it would like taste better and be fresh but it’s a pass the next time at the fair.

Google
I will not be back! EXTRA small pieces!

Google
HORRIBLE! DO NOT GO. I only went for tartar sauce. One small, plastic condiment cup costs $1.98. SMDH. I'm greedy though so once I got there, I asked for a 3 PC catfish (bone in, fried crispy). They served me twice fried catfish. It was completely inedible. I spent $15 and threw ALL OF IT IN THE GARBAGE. Well, except for that platinum priced tartar sauce. You couldn't even bite into the fish. It had to have been dropped twice. No cap. The outside, fleshy part of the fish was harder than the bones. But that platinum tarter sauce is gonna be good with my home-fried catfish. Run, ya'll. Run.

Had a plate from them at the Texas state fair that was so good we decided to try the actual restaurant. We pulled up for lunch only to discover we could only order in the drive through and only select menu items. We ordered shrimp and catfish platter to eat in the car. Kind of salty and the fries weren’t great. And we had to keep watching our surroundings. It wasn’t like the fair plate and we were disappointed. Good enough to try but not good enough to come from Anna again.

Tee Dee

Google
Had the 3 piece catfish with fries and it was a solid meal for me and my wife. The fish seasoning and the sauce it came with was good. The fries could be better.

Asia Mhoon

Google
Horrible! Asked for well done Fish and fries and got the bottom of the barrel. The customer service was horrible. I will NEVER eat here again, the outside and the area make you not want to eat here but I got recommended here by a friend. I came back to get my fish recooked and they took my fish back to me. Came out on the phone like it was a disservice to them to recook.

Yelp
Was in the mood for catfish and heard about this place from a 3rd party and they said, "all they have is drive-up" - well, that was fine because my best shoes were all muddy and I was wearing my bedroom slippers. Pulled into this free standing store and into the drive-up where this BIG easy to understand menu appeared. Got the 3-piece fillet dinner that came with 2 small chicken fingers and a nice dose of seasoned fries. The catfish was fantastic and the malted mustard sauce for dipping was the perfect size. I'll be back !!

Lyndee B.

Yelp
We went there For the first time today. We used the drive through option. The catfish was excellent, seasoned well and fried perfectly. The three piece meal included hush puppies, fries, tartar sauce and bread. The tartar sauce looked a little different but it was very good. The fries were good. I didn't try the hush puppies because I usually don't eat them but they looked good. Very reasonably priced and the service was fast and friendly.

David B.

Yelp
I was told this would be the best catfish, but when I finally decided to take a trip there today; I searched for it on google and the information said closing at 9:00 PM. I pulled up to the door at 8:23 PM. This employee comes hurriedly from the back of the restaurant and opens the door saying " We're closed, we're closed ". 37 minutes before the posted time!! How long does it take to make a catfish plate? oh well, lost my business before I even got to taste it. Horrible way to treat customers. FYI, I refer my rideshare customers to places. Won't be this one!

Myesha M.

Yelp
They have really well seasoned catfish . Probably the best Tatar sauce in the Dallas area . Price is decent , a little on the high side if you ask me but I would say it's worth it.

Jskwkw N.

Yelp
Waited in line and the fish wasn't even fresh. I got the steak catfish. And I couldn't even call back because the number wasn't good.

Yelp
I've always heard of this little gem in Oak Cliff Dallas. I finally got a chance to put my hands on some catfish fillets. I gave them a call to pick up and it was a easy breezy process. The woman on the phone had really nice phone etiquette, she took my order and was very precise, overall she had a great personality. When I came to pick up the food it was ready to go! Very easy parking it is in a shopping complex. It was not very crowded but the phone was ringing all the time when I was there. The older gentleman was very nice and asked me if I wanted something to drink, condiments, and more. When I order the food, to the time I came and picked it up, to the time I came home my food was still very hot.The fish was breaded so nicely and had the perfect crunch in perfect seasoning. The fish is not at all salty and even though I had hot sauce it was fine the way it was. The fries have this Cajun seasoning on it , it was delicious. The hush puppies have a weird shape but I absolutely love it it was so good. For three combos I paid about $20ish total. I can't wait to be back!

Garland B.

Yelp
These people are defrauding their customers, claiming that they are serving farm raised catfish. Not only is it not farm raised, it is not real catfish. This is an outrage and has to be stopped! They were giving extra pieces at the state fair to appease the customer, knowing that it is a fraud. I will never spend my money at this place again.

Sylver G.

Yelp
Perfection! Crispy, crunchy, soft, and tasty. I promise you this is where to go for catfish in Dallas! I can't do slimy catfish nor food without seasoning. And if u charge me a high price it better be good. This place small but nice. If your close, go there. I'm telling you.

Ed L.

Yelp
CURRENT OPERATORS SHOULD LOCK THE DOORS! Floyd Bean Bean (AKA Catfish Floyd) born 3Jan1935, and died 22Dec2017. As many reviews prior to 2017 will exhibit, was the place to go to for the best catfish in Dallas. But not any more. The sauce is not the same, Sway-fish if frequently sold as catfish, and overall quality has been buried with the founder. Because of most recent three visits, the last on 12May2023; not only will I not go there ever again, but will never mention or recommend to any one!

Jewel J.

Yelp
Fries are undercooked! Bread is flat and stuck together! Is time for y'all to step into 2021 and get some styrofoam Togo plates because the paper boats, brown bag and plastic bags makes the food soggy. I purchased 3 fish and shrimp combos and all the food was soggy and the fries were undercooked. I asked for well done fries anyway. The fries are always undercooked. Try cooking your fries for 4 minutes Oh yeah the bags makes the food SWEAT stop being cheap and invest in modern day paper products. Ever since MR. Floyd passing this place has went to shit! Horrible service and the food...you see it. Season is on point if you can get passed the sogginess

Jon G.

Yelp
I will say that this catfish is good! Fish was made hot and fresh and seasoned just right. The 10 piece also came along with fries (seasoned) and 2 pieces of bread. Good value for the price paid in comparison with similar restaurants. Reviews complain about the customer service but I saw no issues with that. They answered the questions we had and got right to the point. Just because someone is direct and straight to the point doesn't mean bad customer service lol would definitely recommend to anyone who is in the taste of some southern fried fish

Nikkia C.

Yelp
I live in Frisco, TX and wanted late night fish, so my husband and I drove over an hour just to get there at 9:30 pm and they're closing/ not taking anymore orders. Unacceptable. What's the purpose of having listed hours if you're not going to adhere to them. Food... amazing. Customer service 0/10. Do better. Now when people stop supporting your business, don't be crying.

Everett P.

Yelp
The building looks as though no one really as care for the business in years. The catfish was great years ago. Yet although the service as been going down with each visit today was the worst. Open yes but the inside looks permanently closed, the drive thur was close. Without a greeting or apology, the gentlemen took my order. In a few minutes the worst fish and fries was given to me without a thank you. After driving home, opening the box, that should have been a box of goodness for the price I paid. It was filled with room temperature fish and day old fries. No answer when I called. Shame! Shame! Shame!

Perika W.

Yelp
I just purchased two 3 pc fillets. The fries are cold and half cooked. The fish is old cold and half cooked. This was the worst 20.00 I have ever spent and will never go back again. I should have driven the extra miles and went to Catfish Connection. How are they even still open. This is a disgrace and I'm still hungry because that food went straight to the trash my dog didn't even want ti touch it. Just sad!!!! I can't even give a star it's beneath one star.

Rhonda G.

Yelp
Absolutely the most Disgusting fish I have ever tried to eat in my life. We bought a 10 piece catfish fillet. We received my a 9 piece dried, grease soaked old tilapia and one old piece of catfish. It cost $31 they are selling thin old tilapia fillets as catfish.do not waste your time or money. This restaurant should be shut down for serving old disgusting food like this.

Frances C.

Yelp
I have been going to this fish place for 10 years. Today my fish did not taste right. I ordered 4 piece tails and a big red soda. I called but cannot get no one to answer the phone.

Amber F.

Yelp
Love the catfish and fries. It ain't healthy worth a damn but they season the fries with Lawry's seasoning salt like the you buy we fry fish spots in LA. Hush puppies were fire as well. Be prepared for them not to have everything in the menu.

Kesha H.

Yelp
This is your typical neighborhood fast food fish place. I ordered the 3 piece fried catfish with fried and hush puppies and it was pretty good. They also gave me an extra piece of fish so that was a plus. I saw a lot of reviews complaining about the fish being dry but I actually didn't mind it. I like the crunchier/fried hard aspect. Some reviews complained about customer service and I agree. I went through the drive through and I felt I was being rushed to order when there wasn't anyone in front or behind me. Idk if the inside was crowded but from the parking lot it didn't seem like it. All in all if your looking for some fast fried seafood you should go check it out for yourself.

Steven M.

Yelp
We didn't know what to expect however the reviews was mixed...some exceptional other not so much. 2 things that piqued my interest were this the tartar sauce and service time. We placed our order and hunkered down to to wait for a long time but that was not a case because the time it took to walk outside and back the order was ready...2 catfish dinners reasonably priced prepared and and done right perfectly seasoned and thoroughly cooked not rubbery as s some reviews mentioned. Maybe it was the time of day or who was preparing the food. I might also add the fact that the were @ was a plus. . . the best food does come from the hood just be careful cause everything from the hood ain't good. Now what was up with that tartar sauce? That is enough to make me go back. I think I figured it out

Justin O'Keith H.

Yelp
Sad day. Look man I have been going to Floyd's since high school. I am talking 2000-2003! Best tartar sauce and seasoned catfish. Well it used to be. I was in town for an event and decided to stop by. I ordered a catfish basket. Want a drink but was told they were out of Kool Aid, Lemonade and Tea. They didn't have anything. I said okay. I pulled around and waited in line. There were two cars ahead of me. I ended up waiting 40 minutes in line to get my food. From ordering to delivery at window. The fish was hot but man it was terrible. Completely over seasoned where it was nothing but super salty and inedible. The fries weren't completely cooked and soggy. Soggy greasy uncooked fries are terrible. The hush puppies were just as bad. I don't know what has happened but this is not the Floyd's I grew up with and sad to see the terrible decline. I went just two months ago when visiting and wasn't bad at all.

Tracey W.

Yelp
Went there after not visiting for a while, and was disappointed... I ordered a 3pc fillet and 4 piece tails ... My fillets were fried extra hard, and was EXTRA SALTY.... My tails were EXTRA GREASIE AND SALTY!!the fries underneath the tails were SOAKED WITH GREASE!!! I'M DONE!!

Timetra G.

Yelp
I hadn't been in a while, but they are good. I went today and they gave me pieces from yesterday. They refried them. I know because the fish was darker than I remember it. Funny thing is I was going to say can we have fresh pieces, we don't want the pieces from yesterday. I'm always trying to give my people the benefit of the doubt.

Korina H.

Yelp
Got my first taste of Catfish Floyd's at the Texas State Fair. I was immediately addicted! I made sure I went to the fair every year just to get their fish. THEN I found out they have a restaurant! Did not know they had a restaurant. The menu has cajun fried turkey, shrimp, catfish served fresh & hot...The location is pretty far from where I live, but whenever I'm in the area I make sure I visit. Now, this is where things get complicated. First off, the location is just awful. The employees are rude. The wait is always long. The drive through has no structure. Inside AND outside of the restaurant are in dire need of remodeling.

Erica H.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend just went to eat here. (8:54pm-9/24/21) I was so excited because I haven't eaten here in about 4 years. I knew it would be so good because the line was long. We ordered the 5 pc. catfish. We got our food and drove off. I decided to eat a fry and it tasted like they cooked them at 1:00pm this afternoon and had them under a heat lamp until now. Then I decided to try a piece of fish and it tasted the same. Our entire meal tasted old and not fresh at all. I am very disappointed that this place has went this far down. The fish also tasted artificial like they don't get it from a quality supplier. I will never eat here again.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Came on Memorial Day and they were closed. Lots of cars trying to see if they are open here. I will be back

Marcus M.

Yelp
Been coming here for years and the catfish and shrimp are awesome. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, well seasoned. Tarter sauce is awesome, their own recipe. There is limited seating but mainly a togo type of place. It gets crowded here sometimes so be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes.

Javon M.

Yelp
Love the shrimp combo. Customer service is not a strong suit, but the food is delicious!

Keisha H.

Yelp
Arrived about 630pm. Went through the drive thru and ordered a whole catfish..the woman taking the orders informed I had to order a whole catfish via the inside. She informed it would take 30 minutes to fry it. On average, it takes about 18 minutes depending on size. So I ordered the steaks and some shrimp. When I got to the window for pick up, my order was not ready. Once it Came out, it was over cooked and no seasoning. I spent $30 for nothing. It use to be really good. Not anymore! I will follow my first mind next time and make the drive to Catfish Smith. Every choice there is never a disappointment!!

Mosley M.

Yelp
Last Visit: Food: Disgusting, Staff: Unprofessional, I live 42 miles away, took what was to be a pleasure of tasting the food before arriving home, spit it out, looking at the fish, it was a pink color inside, gummy, very little white, not catfish is my guess, at least not the catfish that I have always had. It is an unadvertised knowing - no refunds at Catfish Floyd, and a replacement of the same icky food was not worth a return trip. When Mr. Floyd was alive the food and service was Fantastic; it took multiple visits and a wish for good quality food, like in the past with each visit consistently ok, bad then the worst experience(s) for me to totally give up. The very thought of Catfish Floyd today makes my stomach turn to the point of wanting to throw up. The original owner who cared about his customers and the quality of the food has departed (so sorry for the loss of Mr. Floyd and what those left behind have done to this business and his reputation). Belief is in the reviews, look at what the other low-rate reviews share in regard to their experience(s)- notice a common complaint or trend with reviews (it has been about 6 years, since the consistent bad complaints started), one person found a baby roach in their meal. Recent reviews are getting worse. Warning, PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY on a visit to this restaurant.

Samuel O.

Yelp
Catfish Floyd's has always been a staple seafood eatery in the Dallas metroplex. If you've ever been to the State Fair of Texas then you've seen or tasted Catfish Floyd's booths. They are located in the middle of Oak Cliff and is a certified "hole in the wall."The seafood menu isn't as diverse as most seafood eateries. Their specialty is their catfish filet and fried shrimp. You MUST call your order in on a Friday or Saturday night - the wait time could be 30 minutes up to 1 hour. Don't be alarmed on their prices because they will give you more food than what the menu specified. When I ordered the 5pc filet, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it up and counted 9 pcs! I think they have some of the best fried shrimp in all of Dallas. The meal comes with hush puppies (very basic taste) and fries Don't come to Catfish Floyd's with high expectations for quality and service because you will be disappointed.

Ray M.

Yelp
Hadn't been this place in years... the prices are ludicrous the catfish nuggets were old and dry the filets seem to be made fresh no all employees were gloves like Sweet Georgia Brown its run down and it's a wonder how they pass health and building inspections

Tracy S.

Yelp
I am going there, people say we don't support "Black Business" it sad when you to a place and the workers have an attitude as if they are paying you to come there. the sign says open 11am they out side smoking saying it might be 11 15 before they even go inside!!!!! what kind of business is that!!! and they sell fish somthing you should NEVER run out of , management need to really take a look at who they have left the care of their shop in. To much talking and cooking the fish a tad to long

Nikole F.

Yelp
This place should be called Floyd's not catfish Floyd's because this isn't catfish. ?. How does a"catfish" restaurant catfish their customers? This isn't catfish it's swai or something else. I won't continue to pay catfish prices for some fish out of their fish tank or wherever it comes from. I will not return ever. Just to think I drive over 30 minutes to get this crap. I'm gonna write the catfish show and see if my story qualifies for an episode!! ‍‍Btw.. I do know that there are several different kinds of fish in the catfish species but tell me honestly what you're serving. Frfr

Edward M.

Yelp
This has been a favorite for me and my family for many years! The food is excellent and their tarter sauce is untouchable!! But... their customer service especially over the phone is HORRIBLE..When you are giving them your order, they act as if they are annoyed at the fact that you are calling them!! I know they won't care about this review but, if someone reads this in management it is important to know that your customers are the reason your establishment remains opened. If you don't treat them right, they will go elsewhere. It costs nothing to be nice!!

Athena W.

Yelp
This is not the Floyd's I remember. I ordered the fish and shrimp basket, with a lemonade for $17.16. I'm bringing this basket back. The shrimp was spoiled, when I bit into it the rotten taste and smell overwhelmed me. When you cook food you know what spoiled meat smells like. That's why I'm disappointed, I knew the cooked smelled it. No way he/ she couldn't. The fish was overcooked and dry. Never again will I eat here, NEVER. NOW, I am going to be very precautius when ordering fried shrimp from anywhere. This left a bad taste in mouth.

Sienna B.

Yelp
Truly a hole in the wall! But the catfish was pretty enjoyable. Not the best I've ever had, but damn good.

Tammy R.

Yelp
Worst fish ever. It had no taste. I couldn't taste any seasoning. A waste of good fish money for Friday night family fish gathering. I'm not sure what these fillets were. The fillets were spineless, so I doubt it was catfish.

Ron R.

Yelp
I don't where these guys fell off. I've been in Dallas for 24 years. Always enjoyed this place. They changed up their fish supplier or something cuz this fish taste like that "fake fish" them other folks be selling. Thin, crunchy. Hurt my teeth. Guys, what happened? Gotta go back to Ronnie's in oak kliff.

Drucilla M.

Yelp
!!!False Advertisement!!! The fillets they are selling is not catfish it is basa. I've been eating catfish my whole life and I know the difference. The 'fish' is fried so hard there is little to no meat, to me it was like I was eating cracklings. Highly disappointed with the overly priced food.

Markeye B.

Yelp
This is without a doubt the best catfish in dallas. I tried this place while doing business in the area. I was surprised at how perfect the favor was. Also, the prices were great. Keep up the great work!

Cassidy B.

Yelp
Catfish Floyd's has been my go to lunch spot lately. From outside it doesn't look like much, but inside it is very clean. Let me get to what matters - the food. The catfish fillets were wonderful. Every time I have ordered there I always get one extra piece than I ordered. The breading is perfect - thick enough for that crunchy edge and that flavorful center. It is not overpowering, but just right. The fries and bread are your standard, but they have a good seasoning on them. It has a hint if dill, and some savory spice. Good stuff. The service has always been good to me. Since it is a walkup counter I don't expect much, yet they have always attempted to make small talk and have never been rude. I often crave this place and I know that it will be a staple on the days I work in Oak Cliff.

Jermmie D.

Yelp
Horrible customer service .. this lady had a nasty attitude and don't want admit she made a mistake I order 12 fish fillets and I received it from DoorDash and they all have bones in it..... I don't eat fish with bones that for old school people and she told me I had to pay the difference trying to empty my wallet and I'm on a budget so I got the remake and the fillets were fair but over cooked on the bottoms and the fries were terrible and smell like piss I'm not ordering from them again ... Louisiana fried chicken is better

Nonjala K.

Yelp
I drove across town on 2 different occasions to this joint simply because I wanted some darn good catfish. It was seasoned and breaded well and hit the spot! Well worth the travel and the time! Always looking to support a small business - this is definitely one that will get my continuous support.

Kevin B.

Yelp
This place was alright! They nickel and dime for every little thing! The pricing is totally incorrect on the menu and overpriced! For what you get here you can fry your own damn fish! I guess you pay for the convenience by even then it shouldn't be this high in cost. For no reason is 10 pieces of catfish be 26.00! Absolutely ridiculous! Go take a business class on how to properly run a business and do proper profit margins that don't insult your customers. You can always tell when a business is just money hungry and about profit and not really passionate about the business!

Alyssa C.

Yelp
I went to the Texas State Fair on October 20, 2018. I stood in line for 1 hour and 40 minutes. While I was in line multiple people left due to the line wasn't moving. I also saw people skip the line. They need better fryers to serve a significant amount of people. I got the food and the fish had no seasoning. It taste rubbery. Just nasty and bland. I would never ever get there catfish again. I do not recommend this place. Last but not least the staff is not friendly. The owner needs to provide them with customer service training. The wait was not worth the taste!!!

Precious S.

Yelp
Please do not come here. Saturday night meal sucked. The ultimate worst. The fish was rubbery and too hard. Not moist at all. They remade my food and it still sucked. No bueno.

Lacarma M.

Yelp
They made me wait almost an hour to tell me that they didn't have tilapia. They gave me one order but not the other. Then the girl that told me to go around front to wait on my 2nd order was the one who the girl that took my order blamed for not knowing they were out of tilapia. They gave me my money back but I can't get the time I wasted back. They ruined my whole night.

Michelle M.

Yelp
This is my JOINT!! when it comes to catfish. I don't get to Floyd's often because of the location, but when I'm out in Oak Cliff, I try to stop by Floyd's. Now I will not lie, they are GHETTO as all get out. It used to annoy me, but now I just order my fish and keep it moving. I love the fact that they have a no undergarments policy in place. So fellas, if you sag, where a loong shirt shirt or visit via the drive-thru. I can't help but thinking that the fish has changed. It is not the same as it has been in past years. The fish is still good, but it is ...different. I do lament the passing of an era when you could order a three piece and get four big fat pieces of catfish, and at least three hush puppies. Now you get no more than exactly what you order, and the pieces are definitely smaller. But one can't be mad at that. Now that TARTAR SAUCE. That over priced TARTAR SAUCE makes you wanna lick it off your fingers when you KNOW you aint washed yo hands! I cannot have the fish without the tartar sauce. it almost makes the meal. Its .81 cents for an extra little container, and dont expect any freebies. Whenever I order Floyd's, I order to go, but have to eat it in the parkign lot (NOT RECOMMENDED) because it's soo good. That parking lot is one of those places where it seems like something can jump off at any minute so its best to get your fish and move along. I can't even go to a restaurant and get fish because. I am always comparing it to Floyd's. I have tried other little holes in the wall, and mom and pop shops, but it always just makes me anxious to get back to Floyd's. P.S. CALL YOUR ORDER IN.

Aisha A. K.

Yelp
Usually I love Catfish Floyd's fish. Yes the wait time is a little long, but usually worth the wait. But today it was anything but! The fish was missing! Especially on the perch. We bit into just fried batter on too much of this order, and when i called to tell them about it, there was no apology ... just said bring the fish back on Monday (today is Saturday and they're not open on Sunday) to get a refund. We had eaten the fish part and just had some of those crusty pieces that just turned into crumbles! So there was nothing to return! It was very disappointing ... $16 gone, and we're still hungry!
