Best Restaurants and Bars Near The Concourse Project and Seismic Dance Event, Austin’s Warehouse Music Venue | Eater Austin

"Even if you aren’t headed to Concourse, Catfish Parlor is worth a trip. The South Austin location (there’s also a location in Georgetown) is about 9 minutes from the venue, and offers hefty portions of Southern-style fried goodness like fried chicken and hushpuppies in a kitchy, heavily decorated space. There’s a lot of seafood on the menu here, including cornmeal-fried catfish, popcorn shrimp, blackened tilapia and redfish, and oyster po’boys. Be sure to load up on sides, though, especially the aforementioned hushpuppies and fried pickles." - Lane Gillespie

The 8 Best Crawfish Restaurants In Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Stepping into Catfish Parlour on Ben White feels a little like entering an old diner in a small fishing town in rural Louisiana. It’s been around for almost 50 years—in that time amassing a small collection of old license plates, neon beer signs, and “I’d rather be fishing” wood mounts. And once crawfish season rolls around, we’re stopping in for a couple pounds. These have a pretty classic Cajun flavor profile, but get tossed in a heavy dusting of additional seasoning at the end that’ll leave your fingers feeling spicy for the rest of the day." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

October 2025: Senorita Carmen was our waitress. She took care of our group as if she was our mother. I had the blackened Catfish with, Spicy corn rice pilaf, Southern Pinto Beans, and a small seafood gumbo. I poured jalapeño juice and squeezed lemon on top of my catfish. Which took the meal to the next tier. The hush puppies were delicious. I combined the jalapeño dipping sauce and the tartar sauce. For an amazing hush puppies dip.

Haven't been to the Catfish Parlour in a long time. The atmosphere is cozy with classic music (50s) playing in the background, old photos from the good ole days, and pleasant staff The blackened red fish with crab and crawfish was cooked perfectly. The catfish plate was great too. Our server was humorous, professional, cool Looking forward to coming back! ❤️

I haven't been here in quiet awhile. I used to be here every week during work. It has really go downhill bad. The hushpuppies are now tasteless dry cornbread fingers that definitely need a sauce. The coconut shrimp was overcooked to the point of being solid. The coleslaw and fried catfish had zero flavor. The mashed potatoes were instant from a bag.. I paid $44 for a meal that had less flavor than long John Silvers. If you've never had good seafood, it's understandable that this is acceptable. I couldn't eat it so we left very hungry. Such a disappointment compared to before. The catfish parlor in Georgetown still has the all you can eat catfish, wondering why this owner chose to stop that and lower the quality 10/9/25

INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! I have ordered from her before and had some amazing food! Specifically the friend pickes. Today I made a huge mistake and ordered Fried Pickles and Popcorn Shrimp. First of all the pickles were completely raw and were not even in a box but dumped in a brown bag which had tears in it And oil spots. The popcorn shrimp was raw also and even had the white batter/.flour on many of the shrimp. The order was literally smashed in two bags and thrown into another. Complete waste of $30 and Uber sucks so we won’t get a refund more than likely.

Visited during lunch on a Wednesday with a party of three. Our server, Riley, was super attentive and friendly. As always, the hush puppies and tarter sauce were on point. I ordered the Lite Catfish plate with fries and pinto beans. The catfish was crisp. The fries are coated, and while they were nicely cooked, I am not a fan, personally. The pinto beans were good. I also ordered fried oysters. They were unremarkable, and atad on the small side. I ordered the bread pudding for dessert. It is not overly sweet, and very light. My companion ordered the blackberry cobbler and liked it very much. Before tip, the bill was $92, so a bit pricey.

So I ordered through Uber eats. I did a pick up order and there was a promo for buy one get one free on the all American plate combo which was amazing. I got four plates for 33 bucks. The food was delicious. I got two spicy catfish plates w popcorn shrimp and 3 sides and two original plates. The catfish was really good. As was the popcorn shrimp. Cooked perfectly. Our sides were hush puppies, fries, green beans and bacon, Black Eyed Peas and coleslaw. The coleslaw had a different taste more of a vinegar salad, but that was also Good and their sauces are incredible. The atmosphere was very family and friendly very welcoming. Maybe next time we eat there we’ll dine in and the staff were awesome. Very friendly and welcoming.

Driven by this place for years coming into town for UT games. Decided to try it out. Outstanding!!! Catfish was great. Liked the hush puppy dish before meal. Jalapeño tarter sauce was new to me but tasty. Nohemi was excellent and very friendly waitress. Saw a couple of low reviews but those people must of come in with a bad mood. This place was great. Highly recommend if you're looking for Catfish.

Came here for lunch with a co-worker. I've always wanted to check this place out. The menu they have is incredibly confusing. Chef Ramsey would have a heart attack. The server was very demanding on what we wanted to order. I was seriously confused by that menu and everything says dinner. I finally just said country fried steak hoping they had it. They did. Our waitress was attentive took our orders and brought us hush puppies. They were actually pretty good. Never tried them before. No lie the country fried steak had a good presentation but it was crap. So chewy couldn't even swallow it. Terrible. Overall a real gross experience. Some place out of the 80's. Lol, doubt I'll ever return there.
