The Best New Restaurants in Denver Right Now, Spring 2025 | Eater Denver

"The menu at this sunny little slice of Venezuela in the Landmark DTC is small but mighty, centered on an array of arepas and empanadas — five types each — that pack a lot of goodness into their toasty but not heavy corn-dough shells, from beef, queso, sweet plantains, and black beans to eggs, hashbrowns, gouda, and mashed avocado. To drink, cocktails featuring Venezuelan rum are the easy-breezy way to go." - Ruth Tobias

The place is very clean and cozy. We were seated at the bar and the server was very attentive and fast with our drinks. The "empanadas" as appetizers were tasty and crunchi!! I liked the "Caribeña". The cachapas were DELICIOUS! the cheese was perfect and the cachapas had some whole grains of corn which made them really good. I ordered the cachapas with chicken and the portion was generous. I think the prices are appropriate to the location and are adjusted to the product they served. The "maltin polar" was perfectly cold remembering my time as a kid at school. You should try the Venezuela food at this place.. You will love it!!

Google
Great Venezuelan food, awesome service, awesome environment, and awesome Venezuelan music. Brought me back to Caracas, Venezuela for a moment, especially when I looked at the pictures by the restroom area while listening to Venezuelan artists (from pop to merengue and other kinds of Venezuelan music). Good choice for anyone with dietary restrictions like Vegan, Vegetarian, and even some Gluten Free options. The owner does his best to provide an awesome service and you can sense the level of attention to detail and pride they have on making Catira a very enjoyable place to come for a bite or even stay a few hours while working remotely.

Google
Incredible food and drinks, and a beautiful interior with comfortable chairs and a nice bar. Great prices. The owners greeted us upon arrival and welcomed us like family. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order, but my fave was the Veneka arepa and the Clásica empanada—which you’ve got to try with all the amazing sauces! Make sure to save room for the Nutella tequeños for dessert. 😉

My husband and I were craving Venezuelan food--specifically tequeños and cachapas--so we found a spot about 25 minutes from our house and decided to give it a try. Safe to say, it was an amazing decision. This place is the real deal . I love how they make Venezuelan food feel approachable and shareable. We ordered tequeños, empanadas (the chicken was our favorite), a cachapa, and tostones--and everything was incredible. The tequeños were probably the highlight for me: perfectly crispy with light, fluffy cheese that was bursting with flavor. I'm already planning to go back to try the salads and cocktails. The owners are kind and hardworking, the food is phenomenal, and the whole place gives off tropical beach vibes that instantly reminded me of everything I love about Venezuela.

Google
Excellent cachapas, empanadas and tequeños. Really enjoyed the shredded beef. Everything tastes authentic and prepared with love. If you have picky kids, anything plain cheese will be a hit! Well sized plates ready to share.

Astrid Baron

Google
Empty plates says it all !! Everything was delicious, very taste! Tostones are exquisite, crispy and perfectly done! Tequeños are delicious as well the classic ones and the Nutella! Cachapas are a must .. perfect balance of cheese and sweet corn pancakes (yes, try it is delicious). The place is absolutely beautiful, chic and modern!

We were instantly impressed with the vibe and setup at Catira. From the stylish decor to the welcoming atmosphere, it’s hard to believe they just opened — everything felt smooth, polished, and full of good energy right from the start. Our waitress was an absolute gem — kind, attentive, and super helpful when it came to choosing dishes. She also went above and beyond with our two kids. When they asked about coloring pages, she smiled and said she’d share the idea with her manager — such a thoughtful and genuine touch. Now, let’s talk about the food — wow. We kicked things off with the cachapa, which honestly stole the spotlight. The warm, sweet corn cake paired with melty cheese was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. Next up was the El Vaquero salad — a fun, Venezuelan twist on a Caesar that totally delivered. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. To finish, we tried a lineup of four arepas — the Domino, Blondie, Classica, and Veneka — and it felt like a mini arepa tasting experience. Each one brought its own unique flavor, and we loved them all. We left happy, full, and already talking about what we’ll try next time. Great food, amazing service, and a space that just feels good. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Incredible!! From the atmosphere to the service to the food, we couldn’t have had a better experience. The owner, Manuel, was so kind and personable and all the staff was great. Highly recommend the Tio Kiko drink! My fiance is Venezuelan and he said the tostones were even better than his mother’s. We can’t wait to come back and bring our friends. Thank you for bringing our favorite cuisine to this area!

Yelp
Phenomenal! We have become addicted to the food and the great service. So nice to such fantastic Venezuelan food around us. Great setting, wonderful people and over-the-top food!

Yelp
Came here at the tail end of happy hour on a Monday with our infant and friends and had a great time! I made a reservation due to wanting to make sure there was a table to accommodate our stroller but for that day/time it probably wasn't needed. Our server was very sweet, attentive and personable and the decor was fun and unique. They also had outdoor seating available which seemed popular. No food specials for HH but we did take advantage of the 2 catira cocktails for $15 which were refreshing and perfect for a summer evening. I'm a one cocktail kinda gal these days so my second bevvie was passionfruit juice and oh man... delicious. My husband had the el jefe (think old fashioned with rum) which was also quite good. The food really shines here and I'm obsessed. We started with the tequeños and cachapa and were not disappointed. Our party ordered a number of different arepas and empanadas and I heard only good feedback, though if you're hungry and thinking you'll eat 3+, it won't be a cheap meal. Personally I had the clásica arepa with guasacaca (I'm a sucker for plantains) which seemed to be the overall winner and caribeña empanada with cilantro garlic. Everything came out quickly and was hot n' fresh. I have only one complaint about my experience and it's that there were no changing tables in either bathroom. Luckily our little one didn't need to be changed, but I'm not sure what we would've done if there was a need. I feel like this would be a low cost improvement that would make parents exceedingly happy. I'd love to come back, but this will make me hesitate a little given the inconvenience.

Yelp
I first went to Catira to see what it was all about and had such a good experience, I asked them to host a large corporate event and worked directly with the owners of this restaurant for a private event. I don't know if there's enough room in this review space to articulate how Manuel and his staff went above and beyond in all aspects and exceeded any and all of my expectations. From the very first email exchange to meeting Clare and Manuel at the location to outline the event, to the food recommendations could not have been easier. They understand what it takes to make sure each guest feels like a member of their family. The Venezuelan culture was on full display. Each and every person I talked to commented on the quality of the food, the attentiveness of the staff, and that the owner was there not only doing every job, but also interacting as if he had known them for years. The plates full of Cachaps, Tequenos, dessert Tequenos, Tostones, and mini empanadas of all 5 flavors as well as all four of their deeply complex sauces went fast and furious and the kitchen make sure everything stayed stocked and warm. Many of our guests, along with myself, were able to try Polar beer for the very first time as it's currently only available here. I can go on and on. I first went to Catira thinking it would be a good place to try, but I left yesterday feeling like part of the family.

Yelp
The food was delicious, with very large, generous salads. I was hoping for a mocktail or non-alcoholic beverage options, but they only had iced tea or soda. I'll be back to try the empanadas next time. The room itself is beautiful, and the large garage doors will be amazing for summer.

Yelp
Loved this little place! Happy, friendly servers whom were helpful in their explanation of unfamiliar Venezuelan foods. Delicious at first bite! Tried an interesting and flavorful drink, too. So many more enticing items on the menu!

Yelp
I was beyond excited hearing Catira- a Venezuelan restaurant- was coming to the Texh Center. Decor is bright and vivid, music is Bad Bunny, and food is AMAZING!!!! We got tequenos (fried cheese in breading), a blonde arepa (chicken and Gouda cheese) and the corn/cheese pancake. All was sooooo tasty! There's a patio too. This will definitely be a spot to visit in the summer months.

Yelp
Wow what an experience! Catira is locations in a busy Greenwood Village shopping center area that has and mainly restaurants and Comedy works. We were greeted and ordered or drinks - I got a Mamacita. It was so good I ordered another about halfway through our meal. I have never been to a Venezuelan restaurant before so I was very unfamiliar with the menu. The waitresses we had were fantastic! They continuously checked in our table and when they weren't the owner, Manuel did. We got: Cachapa to share which was unique, flavorful and downright delish! I got a Blondie empanada and a Clasica empanada both were impressive. They were larger then I expected so I am glad I only order two. My friend got an arepas and she too was impressed with the size and fullness. She tho if it was very good. We didn't feel rushed but rather well attended to. We hadn't seen each other in months so we wanted to sit and chat after our meal. Manuel came over and checked on us and chatted with us. He explained the story behind the restaurant concept and the wall of photos in the hallway to the bathroom (which are of his Venezuelan family). He was a delight to chat with. We needed up being there for over 2 hours. A truly wonderful concept, experience, and perfect location. I can't wait to go back and try a few more dishes that caught my eye!

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner - fresh ambiance with bright decor and dainty lights. I really liked how the bright colors came together with the furniture. Our server had some fantastic recommendations - I really enjoyed the empanadas here. Everything on their menu was very flavorful - I'm glad we have a Venezuelan spot in south Denver!

Yelp
There's a brand new Venezuelan restaurant in Greenwood Village and I was lucky enough to check it out during their opening week! Catira does a fantastic job of bringing Caribbean flavors to the forefront in a welcoming and familiar atmosphere. I got to try a mix of dishes I'd never had before along with a few favorites, and it was fun to compare how they were done here. Let's dig in! What I tried: Taqueños - Venezuelan cheese sticks wrapped in golden dough Mini Empanadas: * Blondie: shredded chicken, Gouda cheese * Clásica: shredded beef, white cheese, sweet plantains, black beans * Caribeña: pulled mahi mahi * Americana: impossible ground beef * Quesuda: white cheese Cachapa - sweet corn pancake folded over thick salty cheese and topped with butter Clásica Arepa - grilled cornmeal pocket stuffed with shredded beef, white cheese, sweet plantains, black beans La Palma Salad - mixed greens, black beans, roasted corn, hearts of palm, red onion, bell pepper, cilantro, passion fruit dressing House sauces: guasacaca, cilantro garlic, chipotle honey, chimichurri Nutella Taqueños Tio Kiko cocktail - Diplomatico Planas Rum, Chinola Mango Liqueur, lime juice, ginger beer, mint Best bites: I really enjoyed the taqueños , both classic and Nutella (obviously). The Caribeña empanada was packed with flavor as I haven't had pulled mahi mahi ever but the cachapa completely stole the show. I can't believe I've never had this dish before! That sweet corn pancake with the salty cheese was such a dreamy combo, and when you add that guasacaca sauce? Immediate yes. Such a great addition to Greenwood Village & can't wait to go back soon!

Yelp
Excellent food, friendly service, and a fun atmosphere. We enjoyed everything we tried -- 10/10, no notes!

Yelp
WOW!! Been anticipating this place for a while and it exceeded all expectations. We walked in around1:30 on a Saturday and while we had no wait to be seated, the place was basically otherwise full. The decor was impeccable and chic and the seating was comfortable. We both ordered the Catira cocktail which was perfectly balanced balanced between all the flavors. Highly recommend. We ordered 5 mini empanadas which had an ideal filling to dough ratio, which can be hard to achieve in a mini version. We got one of each flavor. My husbands favorites were the caribeña , clásica, quesuda. I really enjoyed them all equally. I was extra impressed with the impossible meat one (Americana). We ordered a side of guasacaca. It had a really fresh flavor and I could taste what I think were bell peppers? It was similar to guacamole. We also tried the Veneka arepa which was stacked with a ton of chicken salad filling inside a crispy, buttery arepa. Honestly can't wait to go back and try more food and drinks!! We were too full for dessert.

Yelp
Yes, yes, yes... just yes! I've been watching this restaurants progress on Instagram since before they opened and when I finally got to try it it exceeded my expectations! I honestly don't think I had ever tried Venezuelan food before and now it might be my go to spot for midday work lunches (I work nearby)! We tried the empanada sampler, two of the arepas (blondie and veneka), and the Nutella tequenos. It was all amazing! You can tell everything is made with fresh, high quality ingredients and cooked with a passion for Venezuelan culture and food. Also cocktails are such a great price and also great quality! Sign me up for many more La Catira's and Tio Kiko's! The service was quick and so nice and the vibe inside and outside is immaculate. You HAVE to try this place! Definitely worth the drive from wherever you live!

Yelp
I was back in about a week ago and felt I needed to add this: If you like corn try the cachapa!! It's like a block of cheese wrapped in a corn fritter/corn bread pancake and it was delicious! Still the same wonderful service and beautiful dining atmosphere! This was the first time I had ever tried one, and I'm so glad I did, because now I know to order it every time!

Yelp
We ordered the Capacha with beef and chimichurri on the recommendation of our server and it was absolutely delicious. We also had the mini empanadas . Can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious food. The restaurant was very clean and the patio was great.

Michael W.

Yelp
We started with the cachapa and it was Amazing. That sweet corn pancake with melted cheese and butter on top was the perfect start to our dinner. Then came the tostones that were cooked crispy and topped with the just right amount of salt. The Guasacaca sauce was not my favorite, next time I will get them Patacon style. When I did not think it could get any better I was served an Arepa that melted in my mouth. The beef was so tender and blended perfectly with the plantains and black beans mash. A very special thank you for preparing our meal to accommodate my food allergies!!! Looking forward to returning again soon!

Susana S.

Yelp
Loved it. Cute place. Drinks and filling small plates. I had tequeños and cachapas with cheese and black beans. Just here on business, trying to go back before i leave

Yelp
The place is cozy clean and eye catching decor. The water is great... didn't taste like tap. Our waitress was very kind. And someone else also checked on us to make sure that we were doing good and liking the food. We loved tall back cushioned booths. I thought the prices were fair. We shared a cachapa that my brother found sweet but it's made with sweet corn pancake which I loved! If you're a sweet corn fan this will make your day. It's a big portion and you can even get it with meat which would make for a great meal. We opted for no meat to be able to finish everything we ordered. We got tostones which I thought I had great texture and fried to a crisp perfection. Loved the light salt and bite to these. We also split 5 mini empanadas. Niether of we're fans of the one with the impossible meat but it's a great option for someone not eating meat. All the others were fantastic. And even though that might not seem like a lot of food between two of us, it was really substantial and we both left full and happy.

Danielle F.

Yelp
We had a reservation, but when we arrived, no one greeted us. Instead, someone yelled from behind the bar to sit at a specific table--no walk over, no real welcome. We ordered an appetizer, expecting it first, but it came out cold and with the rest of our food. On top of that, our drinks were wrong and didn't taste good at all. The restaurant was empty and seemed overstaffed, yet the service was still disappointing. The arepas were the biggest letdown--dry, hard, and small. The chimichurri was extremely oily, and to make things worse, part of our order was missing when it was brought out. We spent over $100, and it was absolutely not worth it. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Three of us had lunch here recently. Our favorites were the cachapa sweet corn pancakes and the la palma salad. Lemonade was from the soda machine. We thought the arepas, the tostones, and the tequenos were just OK. We did try two of the sauces and liked them both, but we didn't appreciate having to pay $.75 extra for each. We felt like the prices were on the high side. The atmosphere was pleasant, although I could have used a little less of the thumping music. Our wait person was trying hard, but was new on the job. We had some discussion amongst ourselves as to whether we should give three stars or four stars -- we decided three was about right.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Amazing Venezuelan arepas and empanadas. The margaritas and beer selection are also great. I've only come for lunch with co-workers, but I am planning to come back for dinner soon. Manuel, the owner/general manager, is very friendly and service on point. It's also fleshing to find a restaurant serving Latin American food with distinct flavors than the taste of typical Mexican chile
google avatar

Kelly E.

Yelp
This is an amazing place! I went to lunch with friends. Everything we ordered was wonderful. Arepas are mouth watering! Plantains so yum! Empanadas as well! The owner was so fun to talk to! Service excellent. Best recipes from Venezuela. Not enough room to talk about how beautiful the decor is... New restaurant you have got to go !!!

Dennis M.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service. Manuel is very committed to authentic cuisine in a casual atmosphere.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
First time but I love this place! Food is casual but on point. Vibe is great and so is the service! Food and drink prices are great! $5 bottle beer all the time and great cocktails this will be a new regular spot

Yelp
Great experience, service and great food ! They even have delicious vegan option! Super friendly staff!

Yelp
Showed up right before the kitchen closed. Not sure if it was the owner or what. But, dude was great. Helped us out with a smile. The food was incredible, and the service was great!

Karla G.

Yelp
We were craving arepas and found this gem. Absolutely stunning location, our server was such an attentive and gorgeous girl . Really sweet owner, I was in awe after asking for the meaning of "Catira". Congratulations on your new business!
google avatar

Ami B.

Yelp
My husband and I tried Catira recently and had a wonderful dining experience. The cocktails and food were delicious; enjoyed the mini empanadas and classic plates. Our server was friendly and prompt. The owner came to our table to introduce himself and to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The restaurant also has a fun vibe; Latin music and a warm color palate. Fellow diners included both couples and families. And compared to many of the restaurants in the DTC area Catira is a more affordable option for a nicer meal with table service. Highly recommend supporting this new, family run business!
google avatar

Eric A.

Yelp
Amazing experience! Fast service, good food. Beautiful restaurant. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into this. I'm very very impressed and also the prices are very very fair!!

Yelp
Wow, what a great place. We had Arepas, delicious. Highly recommend. Get the sauces. The place was cool, the staff was excellent. Thank you! Will be back w friends.

Mylene L.

Yelp
We went today after months of following this. Great ambiance, decoration is beautiful, food is really good and Venezuelan tastes. Waiter "Angie" very sweet. In general 100% recommend it Venezuelan food in another level.
google avatar

JJ M.

Yelp
Totally amazing place. Great service, ambiance and food. Delicious. We will definitely go back. My favorite was the Fish Empanadas....

Jose N.

Yelp
Excellent food, great ambience and very good service. We'll definitely will come back.

Mark B.

Yelp
Really enjoyed it. Have already been twice. Arepas prices are decent (unlike other Venezuelan places in town). Good flavor, very nicely decorated and new site. Great music when I went (Rawayana, guaco, etc) and good service. Only detail was that the waiters didn't speak Spanish, which was odd considering it's a Venezuelan place. But hey, that's just a minor detail. I'd fully recommend this place specially since we didn't have anything similar south of Denver Will be back again and again

Paul L.

Yelp
Food terrific Service good Ambiance good Loud not moderate Try everything , sauces are worthwhile different spice levels
google avatar

Steffen K.

Yelp
Food is great and service is also wonderful. The owners truly care about providing a quality experience.

Joe B.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Catira. Our waitress, Seven was very pleasant and helpful she gave us some great suggestions. We ended up getting a classica empanada and two arepas. My wife had the Las Palmas salad which has a wonderful mango dressing. We each had a cocktail which were delicious. We had a chance to speak with Manuel and Clare , the owners. It's a nice, relaxed atmosphere with a nice patio. I highly recommend you stop by for a relaxing meal with Friends!

Kendrick C.

Yelp
Amazing small plates, the arepas and empanadas were fantastic! The server was attentive and friendly, adding to the great experience. The ambiance reminded me of my time in NYC, with a vibrant and cozy vibe. I'm definitely coming back to try more dishes from the menu!

Maxwell T.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! We were so excited to check out this new spot and it did not disappoint. The colors and atmosphere stood out upon walking through the door, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff continued to impressed throughout our visit. The food and drinks are top notch with the Cachapa, and Arepas topping our list, enjoyed perfectly with the Tio Kiko. Catira is a must visit spot for any occasion!
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
I don't normally make reviews for places on the first time going to it, but this place was so incredible that I had too. The food was so delicious and presented amazingly perfect for a fun and exciting dinning experience. Luis and Seven are amazing and attentive and very personable servers. We had so much fun especially trying out the drinks! Definitely will be back again and again for months to come!

sharon s.

Yelp
This new place is fantastic - food, service, ambiance. Excellent! We will definitely come here regularly...

Mimi C.

Yelp
Well it looks like the Berzin restaurant family has done it again. Catira just opened and it is the third generation now who are using their creative talents to provide a unique dining and of course drinking experience. We love the bright tropical decor and enjoyed for the first time some truly Venezuelan food. We especially enjoyed the Cachapas and the Clasica Arepas. The food was crispy, flavors delicious and served on beautiful dishes that demonstrates the care taken with every detail. Catira has a very warm friendly atmosphere and we can't wait to go back with our friends and try all the other rum drinks and enjoy more items on the menu. Pat and Mimi

Yelp
This place is a great addition to Landmark. Great food and prices. The atmosphere is also great and can't wait for the patio. The owners are local and not a chain so please give it a try and support them.

J G.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambience. It's definitely worth a try. Tried a few things but everything looked delicious. Will be back!

M S.

Yelp
Great experience at Catira! I don't care what language servers speak, just bring on the food. Cannot find anything to criticize--everything was excellent. Will recommend to everyone!

Lachlan W.

Yelp
Catira is a fantastic new spot in town with unique decor, a fantastic drink menu, and absolutely phenomenal cuisine! Run--don't walk--to this amazing new spot ASAP. Seven is a fantastic addition to their team and brought "service with a smile" to a whole new level for us!

Angelo G.

Yelp
Really good food, excellent service, excellent environment. I am Venezuelan, and feel so happy to have a place that shares or culture and food‍

S S.

Yelp
We ate there this evening. It was a hot day yet we opted to sit outside - the inside was chilly and the music was loud. The food was delicious - I had the mini-empanadas (1 Impossible Beef, 2 pulled fish). I got them with avocado sauce - all quite delicious. My husband got the plated dinner - beans, rice and shredded chicken, with a small side of sweet plantains, since he can't eat cheese (and that's what comes on the plate). He said it was delicious. We ordered 2 side dishes of the sweet plantains (which are not on the printed menu) with the avocado sauce for dessert - wonderful!! We didn't like the music and asked them to turn it down, which they did somewhat. It was all in Spanish, rather like rap, with a heavy drum beat. We're in our 70s and don't enjoy music like that. But many people in their 30s and 40s were inside and must have liked it because no one walked out. But the food was delicious. We did peek inside - clean, open, felt friendly. Just too loud for us. There'd be no way to converse.
