There's a brand new Venezuelan restaurant in Greenwood Village and I was lucky enough to check it out during their opening week!
Catira does a fantastic job of bringing Caribbean flavors to the forefront in a welcoming and familiar atmosphere. I got to try a mix of dishes I'd never had before along with a few favorites, and it was fun to compare how they were done here. Let's dig in!
What I tried:
Taqueños - Venezuelan cheese sticks wrapped in golden dough
Mini Empanadas:
* Blondie: shredded chicken, Gouda cheese
* Clásica: shredded beef, white cheese, sweet plantains, black beans
* Caribeña: pulled mahi mahi
* Americana: impossible ground beef
* Quesuda: white cheese
Cachapa - sweet corn pancake folded over thick salty cheese and topped with butter
Clásica Arepa - grilled cornmeal pocket stuffed with shredded beef, white cheese, sweet plantains, black beans
La Palma Salad - mixed greens, black beans, roasted corn, hearts of palm, red onion, bell pepper, cilantro, passion fruit dressing
House sauces: guasacaca, cilantro garlic, chipotle honey, chimichurri
Nutella Taqueños
Tio Kiko cocktail - Diplomatico Planas Rum, Chinola Mango Liqueur, lime juice, ginger beer, mint
Best bites:
I really enjoyed the taqueños , both classic and Nutella (obviously). The Caribeña empanada was packed with flavor as I haven't had pulled mahi mahi ever but the cachapa completely stole the show.
I can't believe I've never had this dish before! That sweet corn pancake with the salty cheese was such a dreamy combo, and when you add that guasacaca sauce? Immediate yes.
Such a great addition to Greenwood Village & can't wait to go back soon!
