Catskill Mountain Country Store & Restaurant-Windham

During our weekend getaway, I was searching for a good spot to grab pancakes and came across a TikTok video about this place. It looked so interesting that we decided to check it out and we’re so glad we did! The experience was amazing from start to finish. The pancakes were incredibly fluffy, easily some of the best we’ve ever had. Plus, the location is a fun two in one, part restaurant and part country general store with a charming old time feel. Such a unique and delicious stop. Definitely worth the visit! We tried the Chunky monkey, pancake pancakes, and egg white omelette with veggies. Coffee is great too!

A quick weekend trip. I went with my boyfriend for a quick break. To upstate We had a great time and went to this place for breakfast. I loved it. I was amazed by everything there. The service was excellent, everything was clean, farm-like, everything was natural and very friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. I recommend visiting it if you escape to the Upstate

Catskill Mountain Country Store & Resturaunt has to be one of my highlights in visiting this area. When you enter the establishment, you first go into the store where you can buy handmade mugs, a variety of items for your home, homemade jams, hot sauce, honey, and fudge Then you enter the restaurant section of the store. The breakfast here is top-notch. I had the banana buttermilk pancakes, and they might very well be the best buttermilk pancake I've ever had. Amazing! All the food items are locally sourced, which I'm a big fan of. My wife also purchased a variety of fudge that she has been enjoying. Outside, you're greeted by two of the most lovely cats in existence. There are also areas for your kids to look at farm animals and a play area. Definitely give this place a visit if you're in the area. It's worth it!

The food was delicious, and the staff was friendly. We had a great experience. The store had plenty of local gifts for souvenirs from Windham and Catskills Mountain. I recommend to visit when in town.

Found this place on a day trip for a hike up in Windham. I went for a hearty breakfast before the hike. Our server was attentive and the food was tasty. My friend had the apple orchard pancakes and I had the Catskill omelette. We sat outside and while we waited we played cornhole. They have farm animals that they care for that are so amusing to look at if you are seated outside. Overall it’s a good place to get a bite before or after any activity. Oh! Don’t forget their homemade hot sauces!!!!

Wow fantastic! This place rocks. Excellent food (try the French toast) and drink (lots of homemade options like peach tea) and a fun festive atmosphere. Great store chock full of local gifts. Cheerful quick service. And what's really great - there is a free farm with animals like goats and peacocks and pigs, and a little trail to a water fall, and three playgrounds for your kids! This place is wonderful!

Nice giftshop in the Catskills that reminds me of a more authentic Cracker Barrel. Lots of interesting souvenirs, trinkets, odds and ends. The restaurant menu has good variety with desserts and ice cream. The outside grounds has a two pirate ship playgrounds, a giant hammock, a variety of creative swings, picnic tables, rocking swings for the adults, a petting zoo, and a forest nature trail that takes you to a small waterfall. We really appreciated the details that the owners provided for the kids.

Definitely a fun place to go eat! They have a lot of goodies to buy in the store, it’s cozy and comfy and their cat will come out to greet you. The food was great Definitely had flavor. The drinks were good too. recommend trying the hot sauce if you’re into that. they give you two different flavors for the table and if you like it that much you can buy from the store. They have cute little farm animals, the land is beautiful and so is the view. Great spot for breakfast/brunch at to end your weekend!

This was such an amazing find, a real gem! Very unique menu using local fresh ingredients. Terrific pancakes and omelets. The special asparagus and goat cheese omelet was incredible! Loved the choice of sweet potato home fries!!! Great selection of coffees and baked items. Our server Amy made the whole experience perfect, she gave outstanding service and knew the menu well, very welcoming and friendly. The country store is charming and a fun place to browse. Must visit if ever in the area, I know we will be back!!

Wife and I have started back up doing day trips every other weekend and general stores seem to be her thing right now. So we found this one not too far from home and made the trek down to Windham which we found to be a beautiful area. It's a family friendly place with playscape and small animals for kids to see and store is stocked with the usual fare of condiments, spices, candles, etc... There's also a cafe inside and we decided to have breakfast while there, we both ordered omelettes with homefries and toast, she got fresh squeezed oj and everything was really good, both omelettes were fluffy and stuffed with meat and veggies, HF were also really good. Saw they offered egg creams and decided to have one, been a fan of them since moving up to NY. Staff was friendly and place is patrolled by rescue cats. We'll be back for sure.

The Catskill Mountain Country Store is one of the most delightful shopping experiences out there. It's truly a hidden gem in the Catskills that is definitely worth discovering, filled with fun and useful items to suit every need. The store offers something unique, capturing the essence of what makes Windham a charming place to visit. An afternoon spent here is an adventure-packed with local flair and fun. We left the store feeling really happy to have found such a beautiful and welcoming spot in the mountains. Check out the walking trails and farm animals just outside to have the best time. Kids are happy with the playground and ample outdoor seating. I would highly recommend adding the Catskill Mountain Country Store to your vacation itinerary if you are looking for a truly unique shopping experience!

One of the best things about visiting this area. It is adorable, the food is great, and the baked items they sell are even better. Everyone is so sweet and helpful. It's a very cozy spot to have breakfast and lunch! You absolutely must stop by, and don't forget to check out the toy area and say hi to the cat!

It was good.... had egg sandwich was very good with fresh mozz that is made in house. Was was disappointed that they could not make a customized wrap for me, the waitress was very strict about that. I also ordered side ok thick bacon that wasn't very thick just normal. I'd come back and give another try.

A wonderful fall day well spent upstate, thanks to this homey store. The place doubles as both a gift shop, including home baked goods, and a dine-in restaurant! The host wasn't there when we stepped in, but you would flag him down. I'm embarrassed I didn't notice given all the cute flyers pointing to him, haha. Nonetheless, everyone was really friendly. The menu offered so much so I'm glad I picked beforehand or else the waiter would have had to make multiple rounds! The Cup of Coffee ($2.50), for starters, came in a beautiful fall-appropriate mug. It matched the outdoor patio ambiance perfectly. I got the Tall Tale ($16.99), which I chose a side of Home Fries and White Toast. The Toast was nicely buttered, and probably my favorite of the plate. The eggs were too dry for my preference so you might want to pop in some condiments to pump them up a little. The Home Fries were disappointingly on the hard side. The trout didn't offer much, although they were worth the try. The slight sour cream in the eggs helped in adding flavor to the overall omelette. The Valentine Burger ($17.99) was not the best burger we had but probably the healthiest. The patty was nice and juicy in a gorgeous red pink color. The fries were delicious and crispy! Best for last was the Stars and Stripes Pancakes ($13.99), which came with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. I been to many diners before, but I never had this soft of a pancake before. Thin pancakes are the way to go! They tasted so fruity and sweet with the blueberries meshed in! Although the salty foods were not the best we had, they were still enjoyable given the extensive options they can offer. Have their pancakes for a guarantee win! Their homemade Apple Cider Donuts, which I primarily came for, were also delish!

Lovely shop and restaurant. Great selection of gifts, crafts, decor, food, preserves, toys......and so much more all with a signature Catskill Mountain theme. Support and shop local! Great quality local honey and fudge. Lots and lots of very cute bears on everything, and a little shop cat wandering about too! Huge menu which smelled and looked great, looking forward to trying it next time.

Solid 4.5 for the food. The service is a bit hit and miss. They're very friendly and sweet, but not always the most attentive. Smoked trout omelette: very good. Very mild smoky trout flavor. Would order again. Sweet potatoes: so so good! I want more. Corned beef hash: tastes standard, but I liked it anyway

Pancakes so fluffy and different flavors , and specially flavored coffee drinks kept us coming back for it's breakfast menu! We were a party of 6 adults. Ate breakfast here for 3 consecutive days. Waitresses were patient, friendly and informative about customizations possible with our orders. Two bathrooms are located in one of the corners of the store.

I had a mixed experience at this place. On the positive side, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was friendly. The shop is really corky and fun to look around. However, there were a couple of downsides. Firstly, I found the prices to be quite expensive, especially for the quality of food and drinks. Secondly, the breakfast sandwiches were a letdown; they only included one egg, which left me wanting more. It's an okay option if you're in the area, but be prepared to pay a premium for your meal, and consider other breakfast spots if you're craving a heartier sandwich.

Can't say enough good things about this place. Everyone there very friendly, with a great 'homey' feel and delightful smell of fresh apple cider donuts. Food came very quickly and was delicious, with very reasonable pricing. After eating, can shop around the shop for small things or local items. Very nice flower tent next door and small farm area with pigs, goats, and chickens out back. Overall a terrific atmosphere. Best breakfast spot in town.

Delicious!! The Staff were wonderful and very accommodating. I had the pancakes with a side of fruit my husband had hd the eggs Benedict and it was great, will definitely be back.

Impending snow storm couldn't keep me away. These just may have been the best pancakes I've ever had!! All food was excellent and the staff was so pleasant. And a bonus is the country shop. Bought a ton of preserves and other goodies. A must stop if you're in the area!

Very cool's spot, seating is in the back of the store. Kinda of great looking around while waiting for a table. The food was super delicious, felt so homey. There are some animals and playground on the side so seems like an awesome place for families.

This place is great! It's a restaurant with a bakery attached to a surprisingly big country store. Inside the store are tons of great gift items or things for the household, it's fun to just walk around and see everything they have. The restaurant has really good food too, I was impressed by the burger and I also tried to homemade chili which was delicious. The bakery is great too, I got a bunch of cookies and apple cider doughnuts recently for a party and everyone loved them. Definitely a great spot to stop for breakfast or lunch if you find yourself up in Windham. I'll definitely be back this winter when I'm up there to ski.

All our food was SO delicious!! We ordered the Banana Pecan French Toast and the Ploughman Special. I'm obsessed with their sausage patties! They are so tasty. We can here with our pup. The cafe was nice as to accommodate us on their deck. There is also a beautiful lawn opposite the deck with benches for more seating. Over looking the lawn is an adorable collection of barn yard animals...a pig, two goats, chickens and even a peacock! Our server was very friendly and attentive. We couldn't have had a better experience. We can't wait to come back!

Stopped for late lunch after tubing. Not a lot of food options near by. Got a berry shake for the kids and it was delicious. Not too sweet and thick. The waitress divided one order into two cups which was perfect for 6 & 5 yr old. We ordered an omelette, husband had the beef beef sandwich and smoked trout sandwich and plain Jane French toast. The food was good and fresh. Nice homey ambiance with a store front with lots of local items.

I've eaten here two times and each time was a home run. I live 8 hours away and I woke up this morning wanting their breakfast. Good thing I'm visiting my mother this week and will definitely plan to come here more than once.

Yum yum yum! This place was cool- big country store with a wide variety of items and a restaurant with delicious diner food! I made my own omlette with local smoked trout and house-made mozzarella and veggies. We also got french toast some corn beef hash and eggs. The service was what you'd expect from a busy place but based on the other reviews I thought it'd be a much longer wait for service and food but it was all an efficient process. The place was so unique but absolutely that country vibe you're looking for in a town store. They sell local jams/jarred goods so you can walk away with snacks and the food was about $40 for 2 people who filled themselves. Yummy

Great place to settle your long overdue indulgence from skiing. Stopped here for brunch on MLK weekend. Menu is large with all kinds of breakfast options and long list of pancakes. Restaurant is a part of a store where they sell baked and jarred goods and all sorts of other local offerings and trinkets. Ambiance is very similar to a Cracker Barrel. Eggs Benedict was absolutely fantastic - highly recommend. It was served with a white gravy sauce instead of the traditional hollandaise sauce. White sauce was essentially a butter, flour, milk base which complemented the dish perfectly as I was hesitant to betray my beloved hollandaise and opt for something else on the menu. Potatoes to accompany were delicious too. Omelette looked great as we peeked over to the table's dishes next to us. Pancakes were good but texture was a bit grainy and seemed as if something went wrong with the batter - overstirred perhaps? Corned beef hash was also good. Nice and warm people running the place. Wonderful stop to grab a hearty yet affordable meal in a cozy spot - perfect pre or post mountain!

Stopped here while on the road upstate and it's an adorable non chain version of Cracker Barrel complete with local country store. Large menu and great burgers and they have the Beyond Burger. They have their own line of hot sauces and all sorts of home made things. Outside they have a pirate ship and a playground perfect for a long road stop with the kids. They also have rescued animals in back that they've turned into a small petting zoo. Super friendly service and overall great gem in the area. Also, call during Covid to double check if they are open. Yelp said they were closed but we called and they weren't.

The Country Store is a cozy breakfast and lunch spot with delicious options. I recommend their banana pancakes and wraps. It is connected to a store with local honey, jam, candy, and souvenirs. The service is slow when they are busy, but it is worth the wait.

Great little country store. Fresh baked goods, jams, sauces as well as gifts. Stayed for lunch and was not at all disappointed. It was delicious!! I had the veggie sandwich and my husband had the herb burger. Portions were generous! Would recommend and will definitely go back.

The food is amazing and good service. We come here every year for our girls trip. The store also has great items to buy.

The best brunch in town! It's such a fun place, imagine Cracker Barrel, but with better, home-cooked food. They have a cute gift shop in the front with games, jams, honeys, toys, gifts, ornaments... so many treasures. They also have a farm in the back where you can visit some very special rescue animals.

We love this place. Natasha and Drew and the entire staff are fantastic. The food is always delicious and there is something for everyone.

This is a great little place to grab a bite and some stuff to take home. In addition to coffee and breakfast, we had some cider and cider doughnuts as well. All of it was delicious; fresh eggs are really something special. My breakfast came with sweet potato home fries that were dynamite. After finishing up the meal, we perused the rest of the store to buy some items to take home. They have a plethora of jams, honeys, candies, hot sauces, cheeses, and various gifts. This is a great spot to grab a bunch of gifts for people when hitting the road after a weekend in the countryside, as well as grabbing some snacks for the road. There was a package of dark chocolate maple creme candies that I grabbed and by the time I'd gotten home I had 3 piece of candy left. They were that good.

Delicious, from scratch food. So good we went back a second time for more! You might think it is a greasy spoon sort of a place but it's not -- the food is fresh, tasty and certainly hits the spot!! The menu is diverse with something for everyone and pretty much any dietary preference. My favorite is the Millrock with 1/2 portobello and 1/2 eggplant. We also had tasty milkshakes and apple pie a la mode with homemade whipped cream! The store is super cute with lots of homemade goodies to take home -- we bought a still warm apple raspberry crumb pie and banana chocolate chip loaf and can't wait to dig into them! We had the same server both days -- Amy -- and she was super friendly and attentive. We were greeted both days by the owners. Cute farm with lots of rescued animals and amazing playground for the kiddos. What are you waiting for? Just go!

Be careful of the gift shop. The maple syrup in the gift shop advertised as New York maple syrup, but they just placed a NEW YORK sticker over the word VERMONT on the bottle. Are the house-made items even their own?? Feeling scammed by this cute little store.

So cute, opens about 9am on weekdays and the store while pricey does has old school toys for kids. The food is generous so I just order sides there was no way I was eating 3 of anything.

Grabbed breakfast at Catskill Mountain Country Store on Sunday morning. The food was solid, but the service miscues hurt my overall impression of the restaurant. Quality: Everything we ate was good, the problem was the delays in bringing it to our table. I started with a Creamy Hot Chocolate to provide some warmth on a chilly autumn morning. Unfortunately by the time it arrived, it was already quite cool. For food we split the Summer Delight Omelette, stuffed with tomatoes and mozzarella, and the Plain Jane French Toast. And while the fruit, rye toast, and potatoes on the sides of the dishes were not very good, the main items were great. I was surprised at how well the mozzarella worked in the omelette. They also forgot and then delivered late our order of Corned Beef Hash, which would have been a nice compliment to the rest of our dishes, but instead ended up as dessert. Quantity: We split two dishes and a side and it was perfect for a hearty breakfast. Value: $2.50 for Creamy Hot Chocolate. $10 for the Summer Delight Omelette. $8 for Plain Jane French Toast. $4.25 for Corned Beef Hash. Ambiance: Catskill Mountain Country Store is located right near the town center of Windham in Upstate New York. Like many of the other spots we visited in the area, it functions as both a store and a restaurant. We found this space because they have a small outdoor deck that allows dogs. This deck is next to a small petting zoo and children's playground, which also had a small haunted house for kids to run around in. The restaurant is cluttered with knick-knacks and the store is filled with many snacks, sauces, jams, and pastries. It lives up to its name as a country store. Crowd: There was an event a few blocks away, so I don't know if that meant more or less business during breakfast. The place was at capacity, with a short wait to allow them to clear tables. Lots of families made up the crowd and the outside area was filled with pups. Service: Not sure if things were better inside, but they seemed to constantly forget about the outside patio. We had multiple issues with our service and because of the long wait for our check, we eventually just got up and paid at the counter inside. Parking: A small parking lot sits in front of the restaurant.

This was a cute little place, that we stopped by to get brunch. The store has baked goods, fudge, snacks in the front, and in the back toys and games (and restrooms). The restaurant is on the left when you walk in. *There are farm animals outside and in the backyard. WARNING for those that have cat allergies - they have cats wandering around. One of them kept walking under our table. They don't bother you, but it did cause my bf to keep sneezing during our meal. We ordered: -Corn chowder - not bad, nothing really special -Traditional cow pancake (aka 3 plain pancakes) - they were quite large and fluffy. -South Windham burger - bf enjoyed himself. The meat was cooked right and tasted good. The fries were sooooo yummy. I stole some/most of his fries - crispy crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We wanted to try the hot mulled cider but they ran out. And we were too full to get a root float or milkshake, but if we make it back upstate we plan to stop by and try them. Service was very friendly and welcoming. They were attentive except when we were ready for the check - they all disappeared for a bit. But once we got our check, we paid at the cashier and were on our way.

Great comfort diner food with organic ingredients (all locally sourced). The omelets and French toast are a MUST HAVE. You can tell how fresh the eggs are because the whole time you'll hear roosters in the background. I highly recommend the breakfast items and not to be afraid of having a sweet tooth. I got the Tall Tale which is the smoked Trout omelet and by far the best domination of cream and smokiness from the fresh sour cream and locally caught trout. Recommendations- if the wait is long don't worry because they have samples around the store, take some time to walk around and see the garden and animals, don't be shy to order too much because everything is amazing.

This was the first place I have ever eaten in Windham. The place looks so cozy and inviting and the dining atmosphere met the expectations there. Best place in Windham that offers a full variety of breakfast the classic breakfast options. I absolutely love their pecan french toast. Would give 5 stars but not a huge fan of the coffee and that is a big factor for me as I typically go there for breakfast/brunch only but don't let that stop you! They have a neat store as well with preserves and other edibles to take away with you. Grab the salsa! The food here is mostly locally sourced and you can tell in the quality of the how the food tastes.

If I could give zero stars I would. I put my name down for a table and was told it would be a 30 minute wait. I browsed the store and wanted to buy some jam. There was a woman behind the register at the front of the house who could not have been more RUDE. She was short with me and rolled her eyes when I asked her a question and she yelled at another customer. I told her that she needs to check her attitude. We left immediately afterwards bc of her attitude. We were called over an hour later to tell us our table was ready. HORRIBLE BUSINESS.

I have been sitting at this table for 50 minutes and still waiting for my food to arrive. We ordered as soon as the waitress came over when we sat down. Finally got some cold cider donuts to tide us over. The store is cute and the baked goods are good but I am giving up on this place.

Best club sandwich I ever had. Great food (cheese fries!), great service, great products (Chesapeake hot sauce), beautiful setting. AND goats, bunnies, and peacocks to go say hi to after breakfast!

There are two breakfast places in town. I can say, without a doubt, this is where you go for pancakes. Also if organic, non-GMO, free range, etc. is important to you. Fresh is the name of the game. I had fresh squeezed lemonade, cage-free eggs, French toast made from fresh cranberry bread (that was absolutely baked locally or on site, today or yesterday). Tastes good. Maple syrup on every table! REAL maple syrup. Service was very friendly and personable. Reviews have compared this to Cracker Barrel. There are some elements. You walk into the store, not the restaurant. There are checkers set up in the back room. You find random selections of goods and foods, including house-made foods. It definitely is filling a void that Cracker Barrel would occupy. But a few things stand out: the store here is larger and more varied, the restaurant is much smaller, and once you're eating, it feels more like a local diner. So ultimately, I decided that's not the case here. Why no five stars? Because outside of the fluffy, sumptuous pancakes, most of their offerings are on the small side. I understand that cage-free eggs may not be as uniformly large and bland as supermarket eggs. But some of the other sides were piteous - the home fries were about half of a red potato, the sweet potato home fries even less. The mains were also not terribly large, outside of those pancakes. The food was definitely tasty, absolutely, but you're paying a lot for quality here, so it would be nice for the portions to go with it. To me, that's a big deal, but if your appetite is smaller, you will be well served.

This is a really fun store full of treats, toys and other 'country' type products, but the real attraction is the breakfasts - hands down the best breakfast for miles around. Be patient though, it is very popular and if you go at typical breakfast or brunch times, you be waiting for a bit - but it will be thoroughly worth it! Slow food establishment at it's finest - everything is very well done and it takes time. I like the waffles with strawberries, my wife likes the omelettes, but in all the years we've been going there with friends, there has never been a complaint about the food. ... sorry if I'm drooling, I can't wait to go again!

This is our second food experience so far... and this definitely hits the number one spot for me. The breakfast was great. We ordered Eggs Benedict, The Tall Tale, and Pancakes with strawberries and blueberries. Every was fresh and tasted amazing. The Pancakes were outstanding. Also, they have fresh squeezed orange juice which was great.

This is always a must stop when in Windham! Love the store with candy, local maple syrup and lots of little trinkets. The playground outside is great for the kids. The flowers in the summer are gorgeous, wish I could buy them all! Milkshakes are yummy too!

Came here with my boyfriend and his brother and sister in law a few months ago before going on a hike. This place is set up very similar to a Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Shop in the front with tons of tchotchkes and then a restaurant in the back. We wandered through the store portion while waiting for our table but found most trinkets to be over priced. We got to our table and the menu was HUGE I mean fully expansive breakfast lunch and dinner. I wish I had written my review sooner because I cannot remember everything we ordered but, I do remember everything being delicious. As you will see in my photo I got the s'mores pancakes and they did not disappoint. Such a large portion for such a small girl! Also I had their fresh apple cider to wash it down. This is the perfect all American spot. I would highly recommend if ever in the area.
