The oldest restaurant in town is usually my kinda place. Cattleman's is no exception.
Damn, how have I not written a review for this restaurant. I visit nearly every time I travel to OKC for business. Their menu is simple, just open the menu, and everything Is right there, no need for flipping. They serve steaks and a few other entrees, like fish and shrimp. They do have a drink menu on the tables at all times with cocktails, spirits, and beers. The fact is, their kitchen staff is small, and they could get overwhelmed if they had a larger menu....so they just keep it simple.
I order something a little different every time because I figured if they're the oldest restaurant, they are doing many things right. On one of my trips, I asked what the lamb fries are. They offered me a sample. Well, they're pretty much the same as bull balls, just smaller and from a lamb, not a cow. As far as taste, they're close to a sliced mushroom thats been breaded, but drier.
They have this house dressing for salads, which looks like mayo, but it's really tasty and garlicky.
A trip to cattlemans is not compete without trying their homemade dinner rolls. They are delicious.
I highly recommend the 16oz choice cut ribeye. It's a lot of beef, mostly filet, and not much of the strip when I order it, even though the strip portion is tender as well.
I never make it to lunch, but I hear their beef stroganoff is a top seller. Burgers can be ordered for lunch or dinner, even though they are not listed on the dinner menu.
Service is top-notch no matter which waitress you have.
